Jerky Ref Movie QT Export

I have a sequence with the following settings under Sequence-> Settings:
1920x1080
HD-TF 1080i (19:9)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
Field Dom: None
Editing Timebase: 29.97
QT Video Setting: Apple ProRes 422
I then Save as Ref Movie File->Quicktime Export: current settings
The ProRes files that I am editng play great in QT, and in the sequence, but when
I play the ref movie it is very jerky. Any convertion i try with Compressor is jerky as well,
but since the ref movie is jerky I would expect Compressor to do that same.
would like to be able to produce a ref movie that is not jerky.
Thank you for your help

this might be helpful, . . . this is the info on the rendered Ref movie

  • Ref movie slow export, like it is rendering

I have assembled some 640x480 Animation Codec clips in a 640x480 Animation Codec sequence. The goal is to export to QuickTime so that I can compress (and resize to 720x480) in Compressor and then add to a DVD Studio Pro project.
Some clips needed some help with speed changes and transitions, so I rendered all of that. In fact I selected all of the options in Sequence -> Render All... to be sure the sequence get entirely rendered and when I press Option-R. Pressing Option-R flashes the progress bar on and off to suggest the sequence is all rendered, nothing more to do. The places where there was red render bars now slows bluish render bars. That means rendered, right?
Yet when I export a video-only QuickTime reference movie, the progress seems to slow as it gets to the parts of the timeline where the blue render bars are, like it is rendering during the export. Why would it do this if I rendered everything first? In fact to prove that something is going on during the export, the reference movie is clearly not just a reference movie, the movie that is created in the end is over 14GB in size.
Any suggestions for how to set up sequence in a case like this, export the reference movie quickly and into a small file size (like you'd expect a ref movie to be)?

  • FCP quits when exporting ref movie or self contained

This one has be pulling my hair out. When I try to export an hour long project, FCP quits about half way in. Doesn't seem to matter if it is a ref movie or self contained. I get the unexpectedly quit window. I have no idea how to fix this. It is extremely frustrating. Any ideas?
    Best.

Don't use an XDCAM sequence setting. Mixing that format with ANY OTHER FORMAT causes issues. I have had 3 jobs in the last 2 weeks that were HDV and XDCAM, and when they were in their native timeline settings, with other footage and graphics mixed in, I had HORRID times exporting and outputting. The solution? Changing the sequence compressor to ProRes, and rendering again. Then the projects exported fine.
So my rule #1 when dealing with HDV or XDCAM, is to edit in a ProRes sequence...all the time. No matter what. Dealing with GOP native, when you add other things like stills or other footage, is cause for nightmare issues. That GOP format is just too whacky to deal with.

  • HDV export as QT ref movie is an incompatible format in DVDSP

Just in case anyone runs into this:
I have a 15 min. program edited HDV 1080i 60. Sequence setting is set to handle renders as ProRes 422. No prob so far, edits, plays fine. I export as a QT reference movie. Still ok. Try to import into DVDSP and I get an "unable to import, incompatible format" error. Huh? Ok, back to FCP. Now I export QT movie again, this time instead of using the default of >setting >current settings I try Apple ProRes 422 HQ 1080 60i 48Khz. Now it imports into DVDSP.
In FCP audio in the sequence setting is showing up as 32 bit floating point. (can't change this) Source audio is 16 bit integer. It's the only thing I can figure. Ideas?

ref movie both times. It took 2 hours to make the ref movie, I can't imagine how much time a self contained movie would take. I think it's taking so long because I'm using a modified template from Motion in several places.

  • Put silent audio in exported QT ref movie

I have a number of sequences that has no audio.
These sequences should be put on DVD, and I've understood that you need to have audio in your DVD Tracks, even if it's silent.
Now, what's the easiest way to achieve this?
Put audio slug on all sequences and then export as QT ref move, for later compression?
Or, can I somehow tell FCP to capture the audio, without actually capturing it? (The latter would be most convenient, then I don't have to create ref movies, but can use the footage file directly in my compression software).

I've understood that you need to have audio in your DVD Tracks, even if it's silent.
Where do you get that idea? Never heard of such a thing...
Or, can I somehow tell FCP to capture the audio, without actually capturing it?
Uh...what are you trying to do? you are talking about completely different things here...capturing and exporting for DVD.

  • Render for a ref. movie?

I exported my sequence, 10bit 422, as a reference movie. The odd thing that happens is when I drop it into the sequence, it says it needs to render?
It was exported as simply a QT movie, not self contained, using the Current settings.
The anomoly is, I took a simple 10 sec chunk to test first and that dropped back in fine no render needed. Why would the longer 16 minute section need a render when the two were done the exact same way?

    CCE = CinemaCraft Encoder.
Of course I realise that exporting a ref movie is quicker than a self-contained movie.
I now understand that exporting to AVI with DV means re-compression of all frames, which you don't have to do if you export a QT movie with DV codec. (Not sure why, the AVI is just a container...)
I normally use DVDSP for authoring and BitVice for compressing, but CCE give a good result in about real-time. The BV takes about 10 times real-time to encode to MPEG-2.

  • Error while determining ref.mov.type for WM via Table 156S: 647/ / / /L/ /

    Guyz,
Firstly despite the plant+storage location + warehouse no. assignments are done , my replenishment delivery (delivery for stock transport order between plants under same company code) is not picking up storage location and warehouse no and thus stopping me from doing picking and PGI (post goods issue).
However in VL02N when i'm trying to change storage location for line item, i'm getting following weird error
    *Error while determining ref.mov.type for WM via Table 156S: 647/ / / /L/ /*
I found a SAP Note(133223) regarding this error and VL02 transaction but that note was specific to older versions. I'm on ECC 6.0
    Any suggestions please ?
    Thanks

Warehouse managment has its own movement types, most identical to inventory management movement types.
These WM movement types are determined via reference movement types.
the error you have just looks like your customizing is not complete.
IMG > LE > WM > Interfaces > IM > define movement types.

  • Ref.mov.type for WM

I am getting an error message 'Error while determining ref.mov.type for WM via Table 156S: 101/ / / /B/X/ ' while creating inbound delivery. Is anyone acquainted with such an issue? Can you please advice?
I have checked all the config for movement type definations. Everything looks ok. Please let me know if there is a fix.
    Thanks!

    Hi Avi,
    I think, you didn't get me ...
In the above configuration what I explained, all you need to do is just adding the ref mvt type the one that is missing...it must be currently blank because of which the error what you posted is appearing.  All that you need to do is just add the ref mvt type for the line as explained....
Remaining checkboxes, indicators etc....you are not even expected to be able to change....
What it means?  for mvt type 101 of IM, when a material related transaction GR posting happens, for the material type used for setting up the material, in the plant of your concern, when there is no value and qty update is active in material type config, and which is not of special stock related posting, but referencing B - Purchase Order, of Transfer Type ie, stock transfer PO, the corresponding Ref Mvt type required to process further in WM, is missing in IM mvt type assignment (T156)...

  • Error messag -'Error while determining ref.mov.type for WM via Table 156S:'

    Hi Guys,
I am currently facing some issues with respect to the deliver creation.
The scenario is somthing like this.
I have assigned a FOC Item category to an Consignment Issue order type.
The system is able to determine the Item category successfully.
However when the delivery is created it throws an error message
'Error while determining ref.mov.type for WM via Table 156S: 903/X/X/W/L/X/'
    Not sure why this occurs.
All the settings seem to be set.
If any one of you can help me out it would be great.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Pandi

    Dear Pandiraj
The standard process is that consignment issue order should be created with reference to Proforma invoice.  Having said that I dont understand why you have assigned a FOC item category to issue order.  Not sure, whether this will work.  Also I feel that you should explain in detail the process for which you are configuring this.
    thanks

  • Aspect ratio issues in iDVD with mov files exported from FCE

Please help. I believe this is an iDVD bug. I have found some relevant discussion of it on online forums - but have not found a solution that works for me. I am looking for a workaround.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1356500&tstart=31
    PROBLEM STATEMENT:
My 4:3 movies, exported from FCE in QT-with-conversion formats (any 4:3 format) - appear in iDVD with gray side-pillars (as expected for 4:3) AND with a black line (letter-boxing) at top and bottom - as would be for 16:9. It appears the aspect ratio is also distorted i.e. 16:9. (The iDVD project is set to 4:3.)
1- A 4:3 mov file exported from FCE using Quicktime Movie format (no conversion) does not have the problem, but I cannot de-interlace the video using this export mode.
    2) A 4:3 mov file exported using QT-with-conversion mode (any 4:3 format) DOES have the problem. I need to use this mode in order to get de-interlace.
(Exception: 640x480 VGA mode does not have the black lines, and it displays correctly in dvd player on my computer screen - but on the TV screen, it crops content from the top and bottom of the movie, so this is not an option.)
    3) In Finder, if you click on mov file exported QT-only (no conversion), it opens in the FCE viewer. If you click on mov file exported in any other 4:3 mode, it opens in Quicktime viewer (i.e. there is absolutely something different in the header/ID of these files.)
    4) All mov files, regardless of export mode, show correctly in Quicktime viewer - no black line, no distortion. The problem does not occur outside of iDvd.
    5) I tried passing the QT-with-conversion mov files through an Inverse-Anamorphicizer (per suggestion on forum - this apparently fixed the problem for some people) but the resulting output mov (i.e. the inverted product) still had the same problem.
I am, so far, left with this trade-off: Give up the de-interlacing, or live with the letter-boxing/ distortion. Neither is acceptable.
I am looking for a workaround:
    1) A way to export de-interlaced 4:3 mov from FCE that shows in correct ratio in iDVD
    2) A way to "convert" / re-head mov file after exported so that it displays corrrectly (inverse-anamorphicize) so that iDVD reads it correctly
    3) Can the mov be de-interlaced after the fact (so I could use QT export without conversion)?
    4) Something besides iDVD to put this together - that doesn't have this problem? (I like and want to use the iDVD menu/theme.)
    5) Other?????
I also notice that all the QT-with-conversion mov files are 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the QT-only mov file, which is valuable and preferable to me. (I don't see any quality difference in the display...)

In the Preview window > top frame > middle button
do you have correct for pixel aspect ratio checked or not?

  • Spry Accordion Jerky/Jumping movement Issues in IE

I am having a difficult time trying to debug the accordion in IE. You can see the accordion here in IE I am having two issues.
    1. When at the top of the site and clicking on a tab to open it jumps down the page as if it were an anchor point, and I find this very annoying.
    2. The movement below the tab clicked is jumping around and this also is incredibly annoying to me, its more subtle than the above issue but it still bothers me. I am having this issue in GC as well.
I have searched quite a few forums and have not found a solution for this but this must be a fairly common issue? I am not that familaur with spry yet this is my first real project using it so my knowledge is very limited to this point. This dose work perfect in FF.
    Thanks in advance,

I will put together a gutted version of this and send it over if you have the time that would be fantastic. Making a gutted version may be the best thing at this point so I can slowly add stuff back and see what causes the problem. If i cant fix it by doing that I will zip and send the files.

    The will.
Or at least they can, and do, sometimes, if you have good MOV karma..
Why not supply a little more info, like:
    * Which OS
    * Which version of Lightroom
    * History of MOV files.
    * Export format.
    * Do other video types export OK
    * How many different MOV files have you tried - all with the same history?
