Jerky screen in MBP Retina 15

I have jerky screen in my MBP Retina 15. When I pass in Safari or change desktop, application or open bottom desk others, all animation are jerky. I don't know what I can do.

Open Autocad and close it again. Apparently Autocad is leaving the Mac in a confused state with the graphics card.

  • Black Screen: Refurbished MBP Retina 13' 2013 OCT 8GB 256GB

I had bought refurbished Macbook pro retina October 2013 model, on October 21 2014. I had used it for few days like 4-5 days, everything was perfect.
But today all of sudden, when i turn the macbook, the screen is black. I cannot see the CAPS lock - on. No keyboard response, so i have to do hard-rest.
I have given to Apple support. Any body and idea on this.

  • How can I use my MBP's(late 2008) display as a secondary screen for MCP retina display?

I've got my new MBP retina dispaly and I would like to use my old MBP as a secondary display.
Is there any way to do this without installing different types of software like ScreenRecycler?
I tried to connect the only cable I have which is an HDMI to Thunderbolt cable but nothing really happened!

Thanks It actually works when you want to share the screen.
However I'm looking for using the old MBP's screen as a secondary display so that I can have two screens like an external monitor.
Also when you use the share screen it has some delay because of the wireless network.

  • Audio issues with some full screen applications (game) and teamspeak with a 15" MBP retina display

While trying to play League of Legends in the lobby and loading screens i can hear everything but when i go in game i cant hear anything, and with teamspeak my teamspeak cant detect the input or output devices and i can hear everything else like skype and everything
Already reinstaled flash restored the system and took it to the apple store, this happened like for 2 days with youtube and they solved that but not the problem with the game or teamspeak

Apple doesn't offer the option of full resolution (2880x1800) and says everything other than 1440 x 900 won't look as good as 1440x900.
so while you can set the monitor to 17" resolution (1920x1080) it has to simulate it on a 2880x900 screen and has to blur and reinterpolate elements to make it work
they've really messed it up for anyone wanting true HD resolution for professional reasons.
Indeed. Everything except 2880x1800, which is unavailable without SwitchResX, and 1440x900, which comfortably fits one pixel of the image into a four pixel square of the Retina Display, must be simulated or scaled. However, while the scaling is real, the 17" "simulation" looks as good, to my eye at least, as my wife's MBP 17". Going smaller will test one's eyes probably as much as Apple's scaling algorithms so the tradeoff for greater screen real-estate may turn out not to be as bad as we'd think. All I need is a MBP Retina Display and SwitchResX to find out...

  • Screen real-estate on the 15" MBP Retina display

The 15" MacBook Pro Retina Display has a remarkable 2880x1800 pixel resolution, compared to the 27" LED display's 2560x1440. Normally, screen real-estate is defined as how much stuff (windows, menu bar items, bookmark lists, etc) you can fit on the screen, with a larger (that is, more pixels) screen being able to show more stuff using its native resolution.
With the MBP's Retina display, the pixels are so small that using its native resolution in the same way as with the 27" monitor should result in, say, really small menu bar items, etc. As a result, the default monitor setting involves scaling, so that something which might normally take up one pixel might get four or eight devoted to it, making it larger and easier to see. Its monitor control panel allows changing that relationship so that everything could be made to appear even larger, resulting in less screen real-estate, or smaller, resulting in more screen real-estate; i.e., lots more stuff can fit on the screen.
My question is whether, at the smallest setting offered, the screen real-estate is the equivalent of, say, a 32" monitor which also has 2880x1800 pixel resolution but is spread over a much smaller physical area, or is the Retina's display still scaled to some smaller equivalent resolution because straight 1 to 1 would simply be too small to be practical? If that's the case, what does the effective resolution work out to be at the smallest setting?
I'm aware that's not a simple question because, for example, I understand that an HD Movie could be displayed pixel for pixel even if everything else outside that window is scaled. Moreover, the use of vector graphics complicates the matter further. But for things like menu lists and word processing documents, can the MBP's Retina display be set to what we understand to be 1 to 1?

  • My 15" MBP Retina screen has strange lines

    Hi,
So I just noticed that my 4 month old 15" MBP Retina has this strange thin white line and another white mark that's sort of like a bigger 'cluster'. I'm not sure how long it's been there, I thought the screen was just smudged and I was watching a movie, and I began to think hold on, this is in every scene, maybe it's the movie. So I turned the movie off and realised it was there for good.
I'm really bad at noticing these things but now I've noticed it I can't not see it and it is bugging me and I'm wondering how long it's been there for. I've read that the MBP Retina has a little bit of an issue with dead pixels, and i'm wondering if this is the case. Has anyone had experiences with taking it into Apple? I am really frustrated and hope that they fix it because I paid 2 and a half grand for this computer and I shouldn't have to put up with it!
I took a screenshot but it didn't seem to capture it (which makes me wonder if it's dead pixel issues of not) so here's a photo I took with my iPhone.

actually I want to add that I tried my nexus 5 too, and its the same issue, it turns the macbook off , not the screen,
you can try it. there are a spot on the left side below the speaker line, next to fn key.

  • MBP retina early 2013 cracked screen LCD

Hi, Im from argentina and I had an accident while using my MBP Retina early 2013 15 inch which ended in a LCD crack. I´ve called apple in aventura mall, miami (where I bought it) to ask them if the fact that my laptop in under warranty could help me on the screen replacement, but they told me that by no means apple would cover it. So I went ahead and asked them how much would a reparation cost me, as I could have a friend of mine taking my mbp to their store to have it fixed. BUT THEY REFUSED EVEN TO GIVE ME AN IDEA of an estimated price. This is really freaking me out, not only because of the distance but also because its a screen model (7171) which they have to replace, nothing more than that. Why cant they tell me a price in advance so that I can figure out what to do?. I saved a lot of money for this purchase, and Im a real apple customer as I have being using Macs, iPads and Iphones for many years, which makes me feel real bad about the customer service...
Have someone been through this lately??
    Kind Regards,
    Gon.

HI.  I opened my late MBpro 15inch a week ago and heard a funny noise  .Like a pop.  Shortly after I noticed a crack in the LED screen.  I went to a Genius Bar and they told me that the screen damage was not covered by my warranty ..I then went home and noticed that the crack had spread right across the screen.  I also noticed that I would get a black screen on 2 occasions that was fixed by resetting the PRAM.  I decided that I'd have to fork out the $900 to have it fixed.  I went to the Apple store today and booked it in.  The tech was sympathetic and said he would talk to his manager.  When he returned he was apologetic and said that I would have to pay.  Later today my wife picked up the product and was told that we did not have to pay as they could see that the product was faulty but not due to negligence. Good outcome.

  • Does your MBP Retina 15 have bent screen glass in the upper corners?

I have a new 15" MacBook Pro and I am trying to figure out if this is normal or not. I had an older 15 MBP Retina and it did not have this characteristic. Maybe I'm crazy, but I am more concerned about potential for issues down the road as far as dust getting behind the screen and whatnot.
Sadly I don't have a working battery for my DSLR so I cant use my Macro Lens. Using my iPhone though it seems easier to look at the reflection than it was getting it to focus and show the line.
To me it looks like the glass bent and maybe even cracked. I am guessing there's some additional coating on the user facing side and this is what's making it look less significant and holding the glass into place. If you imagine a clear piece of plastic, just think of what happens when you fold a corner and make a crease. This seems to be a similiar issue.

So now what if I tell you I spoke to a store manager and he went on the floor and looked at their display modles. He claims he saw a similiar but less noticible effect on them. My photos don't show it because the iPhone just cant focus right. There is a straight line right where the "Warping" starts. Looks like  you used the smudge tool in photoshop or something like that in the reflection.

  • Screen capture on my new MBP Retina 15"

When I do a screen capture on my new MBP Retina 15" and paste it into Outlook or any other program it looks huge and distorted, how do I fix this?
I'm assuming it's because I am capturing the image in Retina 2880x1400 and then trying to paste that image into a non Retina enabled 3rd party program so it scales the image down which causes it to blow up the img and distort/pixelate.
I'm assuming there is a simple common sense fix for this which  Iam obviously unaware of...?

False alarm, took memory stick back to store and fault is same on shops mbp-r.  They swapped it for a new one and now everything is fine.  Sorry apple, how could I have doubted you!!

  • In Messages on 10.8, the "conversations panel" shows screen tearing on 15' MBP Retina

Like the title says, "Messages" on my 15' Retina MBP is having some display or graphical issues. Currently, When Messages is not the "focused" app, it will become scrambled and have many graphical issues. This only occurs in the portion of the app that displays the current conversations I am having, not the actual chat window. Has anyone else come across an issue like this?

  • Screen color shifted on an area ... MBP Retina Late 2013

    Hi everybody!
My parent bought me a Macbook Pro Retina 13" in december 2013 and all was happiness for this time passed.. but yesterday I woke up, grabbed my laptop and opened the lid to discover what you see in the picture... I really dont know how that happened, I always manage my computer carefully and this is so annoying.
I can still using it of course, but I have this question... if I payed for the Apple Care Extended Warranty, how many wil it costs to me to get it repaired? I think is not a software problem because if I move the lid back and front, the problem changes (the colors shift a little bit from normal to "negative").
    Hope someone can help me

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello Mr.lollo14,
I would not be able to tell you how much it will cost to get your MacBook Pro and that will be something you will need to discuss at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized service Provider. Take a look at the article below for more information about setting your Mac up for service.

  • Grey screen every time with MBP Retina

    Hi,
I got a strange behaviour of my MBP Retina. After upgrading to Mountain Lion it may not start. I have a grey screen, Safe Mode doesn't pass. Restore works, MBP boots OK then, can even restart and shutdown OK few times. But if the shut down period is long (more than 3-4h) I got a  grey screen again.
I tried all the tricks with premissions restore, resetting PRAM, uninstalled Parallels and Little snitch, run Onyx for Mountai Lion and cleaned everything, everything from startup apps list. Nothing happens. I got a grey screen again, almost every day, then re-install the OS, and it works OK until next shutdown. SSD is OK, MBP has no hangs/freezes, works great after OSX reinstall, then again - grey screen. Verbose Mode hangs after a list of "FIPS USER Space Post" - all success, no mistakes. Before there is a message "Kernel is LP64", and the a string "/dev/rdisk0s2 (NO WRITE)"
    Please, give some advise!

Sorry to bring this topic again, i have the same exact symptoms in here, and i suspect that its a third party aswell bugging me around doign this grey screens. ( had this for 3 days now after shutting down it gets back to grey screen but after i do a couple of  stuff i can get it back to work. )
I already have the latest firmwares etc and updates i would say.

  • MBP retina screen flicker black?

Hello, after doing so much research and feels like getting no answer I decided to post on this forum, I hope I will get any answer
so I own a new MBP retina 15", it just came last week and I just start really using it yesterday. When I was working with photoshop i notice sometimes random black flicker will just flashes out in a milisecond. It doesnt happen only once but numerous times, a restart doesn't fix it.
Sadly I can't provide any screenshot here because it just randomly happen & gone so fast.
Anyone knows why and how to fix it? I'm pretty sad to find this problem in a really newly bought product

thank you for the reply, CT.
my flickering is not as bad as the one on the video, but still it annoys me because it's something like black long bar flashing.
so.. looks like this issue is going to be (maybe) fixed by bringing it to the store....?

  • Recommended way to clean the screen MBP Retina?

Can anybody recommend a product or house hold remedy?  I have two different solutions designed for this purpose but they leave the screen smudgy/foggy/cloudy.  It's not that noticeable when you view it straight on but even the slightest angle can show it, especially when the content on the screen is dark.
    I have tried
    RQC LCD SCREEN CLEANING KIT
Suitable for: Laptop screen, digital camera, PDA, Plasma screen, LCD screen, CD/DVD media, mobiles, etc.  (or so it says)
    Also tried:
AF Screen-Clene  from AF Computer Cleaning Products (AF International, Kingsbury Park, Midland Road, Swadlincote, Derbyshire, DE11 0AN, UK)
(GB): Highly effective non-smearing pump action (NOT!) cleaner for use on monitor screens, anti-glare filters and glass surfaces of photocopiers and overhead projectors.  Spray onto lint-free cloths such as AF Safetiss or Safecloths and wipe surface.  Not suitable for mesh filters.  Contains no alcohol.  Anti-static, non-flammable.  Biodegradable.  1 litre refill available - order code SCS01L.  Keep out of reach of children.
    www.af-net.com
Looks alot more legit but produces the same bad results.
Both also produce bad results on my thunderbolt.
Strangley both seem to work at least OK (definitely a lot better) on MacBook Air and on other screens from other manufactures like Philips or Dell, etc.
Can anybody recommend that right stuff to restore my screens to a factory condition.  They are clean now but when viewed from an angle they are cloudy.   I don't think they are permenently damaged because cleaning them again moves the clouds around.
I'd post in the thunderbolt forum but nobody seem sto read that at all.  Never had a post answered in the thunderbolt category.  I am having the same exact issues with the built in screen on the Retina.
    Thanks.

I use this with great success:
    http://www.windex.com/en-US/Products/Pages/electronic-cleaner-and-wipes.aspx
I spray it on a small microfiber cloth and wipe of with a large microfiber cloth (12" x 15").  The display looks like it came out of the box.
THIS IS NOT ORDINARY WINDEX GLASS CLEANER!
    Ciao.
