Jerky/ slow speed video! please help!

I recorded a video with my computer iSight camera, and as soon as I started filming, I noticed it wasn't normal, like images one after the other but no continuity. After recording, I tried to increase the speed, but the problem remained. Can someone help me with this. Do you think my video is recoverable?

Here are some things you can try:
• Restart your Mac and try again with no apps other than iMovie open.
• Also be sure other things like Time Machine, startup items, widgets,
or other background apps are not running.
• Check the suggestions in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8496.html
The video you have is almost certainly all there is. If you need it to be different, you likely will need to re-record it.

Video is synced from the computer to the iPhone via iTunes. You need to load the video into iTunes, make sure it is iPhone compatible before you do that, and once it is in iTunes, then sync to the iPhone.
Never said what computer OS you were using. Also, the computer processor, amount of RAM can make a difference with HD video.

I take it you tried using the "right click" menu? That doesn't seem to work, as you noted, but, you should be able to paste text by pressing your CTRL key and while holding it down, press the "V" letter key.
CTRL + C = COPY
CTRL + X = CUT
CTRL + V = PASTE

Slow Macbook Pro- please help, I don't understand previous advice.

I have a very slow Macbook Pro running on Lion 10.7.3.
I looked up this problem on the forums before I sent this message but I didn't quite understand the advice. I have been on something called Disk Utility and Activity Monitor but don't really understand what I'm looking for. It seems a large percentage of my mac is 'idle' if that makes sense. Someone said to look at Page Out but I really don't understand what that means and what sort of numbers are normal.
I do have some storage left so I don't think it could be that. A lot of my gigabytes seem to be taken up by movies and 'other'. I've tried deleted a load of videos but it hardly made a difference. I have Mac Mail and it seems very slow on my Macbook compared to on my Ipad and iphone. iCal is also very slow on here and it always takes a while to load internet pages. It isnt the wifi connection.
Please help and bear in mind I am by no means a Mac whizz so you might have to talk in layman's terms!

If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Step 2
Launch the Console application in the same way as above, and select “kernel.log” from the file list. Post the dozen or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.

My iBook is soooooooo slow -- can you please help?

I have an iBook G4 that I purchased about 2 years ago. The only software I have installed on it is the Microsoft Office stuff (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Photoshop Elements. I mainly use my laptop for photos (just uploading them from my camera to iPhoto) and surfing the internet. I have some word, excel, and other miscellanous files stored it, but nothing that I think would use up significant memory to slow it down. Anyhow, my computer is extremely slooooooow. I transferred a lot of my photos to an external hard drive, thinking this make help speed it up, but it didn't make it any faster. The photos are only 3MB or less each. Sometimes I will upload photos and then my computer will freeze (the little pinwheel thing just keeps spinning and spinning forever). What can I do to make it function faster? Please help -- I'm so annoyed with this laptop!

Have you run the maintainance scripts that are part of the system? MacJanitor (freeware) will run them for you.

Dad needs help saving his little girls HD Videos - Please Help!

I am new to Mac. I have always been a PC guy. I am pretty good with computers/ learning Imac. I shoot video and pictures all the time and I have been waiting forever for the ability to edit and author in Blue Ray, I embraced Blue Ray and HD early on before the Blue Ray/HD Dvd war had been won. THe only software out there that was ready for what I wanted to do was more like Pro software $1000 + and nothing great Consumer level. I was using Roxio DVDit HD. Doesn't work with APple. I have been shooting HD video on my Sony HDR-HC3 for 3 years. It captures on Mini DV HD tapes(1 hour HD Content). I have about 35 tapes filled that I want to start editing. I have been holding off for the past 2 years due to the emergence of Blue Ray. I do have a Blue Ray Burner on my Sony Vaio but it is s l o w . These are videos of my little girls and I want the footage in the best quality possible. I am learning my way around Final Cut Express but it has been slow. I figured since I have no Blue Ray Drive on the Imac whats the rush. 35 Tapes later and I am starting to have an anxiety attack! Plus I am ready to start watching/editing what I have taped so far. Here is what I want to do. I want to import my tapes to Final Cut Express. Then save the whole tape unedited in digital format so that I may go and access it at any time as I decide how I want to compile the films down the road. Perhaps I will do a Christmas Movie or Birthdays. I don't know how many I will do but I don't want to have to import from 6 or more tapes each time I start a new project. I want to then never use the tape again and save it for back up. The more I research the more confused I get. I want to ultimately burn Blue Ray discs but that is not an issue yet. For now just getting a high quality digital /editable back-up would be great. I started exporting to the Hard Drive and about 4, 1 hour movies, took up my entire computer!! About 361 Gig!!! how is that even possible. Will I really need 20 1 Terabyte hard drives to do this? I used to just use Window Movie Maker to output avi files but that was before the HD Camera. I also don't want to save as 720 resolution to save space. I want a great quality master copy. Ultimately this will be played on Blue Ray on 55" LED Samsung with razor sharp picture. Please help me.

Welcome to the forum.
HDV cannot be captured natively in FCE. It is transcoded to Apple Intermediate Codec. 1 hour of HDV 1080i60 transcoded to AIC take around 49 gig/hour. period.
Native HDV take around same hard drive space than DV. BUT you need Final Cut Pro (bundled with Final Cut Studio) to capture it as HDV.
I'm pretty sure that your can edit one tape and just keep the "crème de la crème" ( http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cr%C3%A8mede_lacr%C3%A8me )of your precious footage.
Save the final edit as a self contained movie and store it on external hard drive for future use. This process is very long but it can solve your problem. Capture one tape per week if you can.
There are other option to distribute HD content than Blu-ray. You can search this forum with +Apple TV, HD monitoring from mac+, keywords. Also see:

Why do my quicktime movies playback at double speed? Please help

Hello all, this is my first post.
For some reason all of the sudden my quicktime movies that are 2 months old or older playback at double speed although the sound plays back as normal. Any movies that are less than 2 months old are ok. All these videos have been taken with my digital cam which records files in mov. Also any of these files which i convert to flash also play back 2 time faster when i select the converted swf file. Please help as i have hundreds of files which are affeceted. Any new clips i record playback fine.
Also I copied and pasted a problematic video on my wifes newer pc and the clip still has the same problem.

There is no set limit for length.
iMovie renders everything at the end, so the longer and more complicated your video is, the less likely it is to render. A standard def simple movie may be fine at an hour. A 1080P movie with multiple audio tracks and lots of FX may only go 20 minutes. It also depends on the speed of your processor and the amount of memory installed.
The rule of thumb is that iMovie is designed for simple consumer videos.
Final Cut Pro is designed for complex and long videos. FCP will render as you go so there is not this huge multi-thread render at the end.

Hello i have and imac G5 i bought it in about june of 2005...
It was running very slow and always freezing and then i upgraded the RAM to 1gb
and it started working much better. then i upgraded to OS Leopard andalso pro tools LE 7.4
and since then has been performing slow and freezing all the time. ai recently added another gig of RAM just to see if that was the problem , but it seems to be working just as slow. Does anybody know what it might be. Its a 1.6 GHZ power PC G5 and has a 80GB HD and have about 20 GB free so i dont think thats it. Please let me know if any of you have had this problem or know how to fix it thanks

Except for the keyboard & mouse, disconnect all devices from your computer.
Repair your disk from your System DVD.
Repairing permissions from the Tiger or Leopard DVD
Boot up from your Tiger or Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is able to complete the repair now click on the "Repair permissions" button.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

Use Software Update to update your OS to OS 10.5.6.
Afterwards, repair permissions & restart your computer.
Your system info confirms you are still using an outdated version - OS 10.5.4.

Problem with recording video, please HELP!!!

I am trying to record incoming video with audio saving into a quicktime file. After recording the session the Audio is always fine BUT the Video displays some part inthe beginning then turns all white the rest of the way at random times. I.E. the session is 4mins long the audio is 4 mins and video goes 2 mins then turns white the rest of the way. Below is what I do to record a video with audio (- try/catches). Please help me out... i am really lost. thanks!

either by clicking or dragging, the volume only responds to clicks

My Hard Drive Won't Slow Down! please help

I just got my B&W powermac up and running again after some upgrades: a radeon 7000, 500 Mhz Sonnet G4, 1gig of RAM... Well all of a sudden my hard drive just spun all the way up and will not slow down no matter what. I went to system preferences and checked "put discs to sleep when possible" - Nothing. I ran Onyx and cleared all my caches and what not - Nothing. I have restarted, reset my PRAM, pressed the CUDA button... I'm out of ideas. And my hard drive is raging like it is booting up or something so I don't know what to think. Please help me slow my hard drive down. It is a WD Caviar 40G, and I am running OS 10.3.9 and it is totally up to date. Thanks so much for any suggestions!

I don't think it's a ribbon issue. I checked it out. As for the jumpers, I'm not really sure exactly what to look for. I have only messed with jumpers one time and I was following a chart to set up a slave drive on a Dell and it was a long time ago... On My B&W, what exactly would I looking for if it was a jumper problem?

Odd video PLEASE HELP

Please help.. I bought a brand new motherboard, the MSI K7N2G. I have an Athlon XP 2000+ processor in it. I have 512Meg of DDR PC2100 memory. I am running Win 2000 pro.
My problem is this: When the computer is booting up, the screen will momentarily go black, whenever the graphics change. This also occurs if I open a new program or game, or all the time when I go on the internet. It will also happen if I scroll my laser wheel mouse too fast.
So it all leads me to believe that there's some form of video problem. Otherwise the computer runs fine and my monitor output is solid ( just so long as the graphics don't change too much).
I have tried new memory, various bios settings, reloading bios, and now a new motherboard.
The reseller I got it all from is a total moron and besides not being able to speak English, can't help me worth a crap.
I was told that this motherboard with the NVIDIA nForce2 chipset is great for graphics, and that I don't need a video board. Was I told wrong, do I still need an external video card??
Please help..

sounds like your monitor is changing resolution/refresh rates often or that it has problem to synchronize with your video.
I would install the latest nvidia detonator drivers.
