Jerky Video Exported with Premiere

I'm having some trouble with Premiere Pro CS5, in which the  files it creates come out jerky / choppy. The problem isn't the source, as the  last time I encoded the same video it came out fine, and the problem  isn't the encode settings, because they match the previous encode I did.  Rather, something is happening to make the video I export appear  slower, as though it were rendered at 15fps instead of 23.97fps.
I'm exporting as H.264, .MP4 container, 15MBit CBR, and 23.976 fps,  which is the same as the previous video I did, which used the same  source. Is there any setting that could have changed in Premiere that  would cause everything I export to appear really slow? Furthermore, is it possible that there's some setting new to CS5 that's causing this problem, as my work in CS4 came out fine.
The footage came from an AVCHD camera, and the files are .MTS. Playing back an MTS file doesn't have the issue, but if I play anything Premiere has encoded, the problem is evident, regardless of export framerate or other settings.
Any ideas?

I'm playing the video back on the same computer used to encode it. The problem is definitely not the computer, as other encodes I've done can be played back fine, and I've also tried different computers. The audio doesn't stutter at all, and the video never loses sync. Rather, all the action is just really jerky.
My source material is indeed 23.976fps wrapped in a 60i container.
No idea what field reversal is. Nothing Matrox in my system.
More details about the video itself; the video is a two act play. Act two was encoded with CS4 using the same settings, and came out just fine, with very fluid motion. Act one was also encoded with CS4, and this came out fine, but for other reasons I can't use this copy (screwed up the bitrate, but the copy visually looks fine), and the computer running CS4 no longer has it. The camera never stopped rolling during the two-act play, so the video parts should be indistinguishable for a computer.

  • Closed Captions don't appear when I play my video exported with Premiere Pro CC

So, I've spent some time researching this, but can't seem to get anywhere.  I'm fairly new to Premiere Pro and I've created a sequence with closed captions.  I've tried exporting several different ways (Quicktime, H264, etc.).  I've also been careful to include a sidecar closed caption file or to embed the closed captions within the video when exporting using Quicktime.  I've also been sure that both files (the movie and the scc file) are in the same place.  I've tried playing different versions of the exported video on Quicktime Player and VLC, but have had no luck getting the closed captions to appear.  In Quicktime player I've tried it with the closed captions activated, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.  In VLC I've tried the Advanced Open option which enables you to select the subtitles file you want to load with the movie.  Once again, no luck.  I've tried dragging and dropping the .scc file onto the movie while it plays.  I've tried selecting a Subtitle track using the video drop-down menu.  Once again, no luck.  I've tried exporting from Premiere Pro with the sidecar file as a .mcc file and that didn't work either.  I even tried converting the .scc file to an .srt file via some online app.
Anyway, I'm stumped.  All I want to do is to get my movie to play with the subtitles with some simple application.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.
    S.@@

Sorry, Fritz. It's been a while since I really looked at the Closed Captioning help page, and I just assumed that the New Caption workflow is covered there. And a second apology because the state of that page is at least partly my fault insofar as I promised our technical writer months ago that I'd help flesh out this page.
You're not doing anything wrong when it comes to adjusting the start/end times for caption blocks. Caption tracks in the Timeline are basically display-only. The apparent handles are really just indicators; they're not interactive. I believe it's on our roadmap to make them interactive, but I have no idea where that enhancement sits in the priority order.
I'm not sure what you mean about "each caption track block [being] limited to just over 30 seconds." If there's a maximum duration for a caption clip, it's probably up at 12 or 24 hours. I've worked with several that are longer than an hour. As for individual caption blocks within a clip, my memory has grown fuzzy in the months since I worked on the feature, but I think the program does not enforce a limit on the duration you can give a block. However, there may be a limit on how long a given caption block will actually get displayed. I thought that limit was 15 seconds, but I just did a test with blocks of 10, 20, and 40 seconds, and all of them had the full assigned duration in the encoded output. Could be that the limit I'm thinking of is standard-specific... Come Monday, I'll have to check with colleagues who have remained closer to the feature set.
Note that if you add a caption clip to a sequence before you've finished adding the blocks, then you'll need to trim out the clip after increasing its duration by adding blocks.
Lastly, although Premiere supports authoring captions from scratch, the feature set was conceived chiefly for importing captions created in a third-party authoring tool and, as needed, revising the content and adjusting the timing.

  • Videos export with purple/green artifacts/splotches/flashes with Media Encoder CC but export fine with Premiere Pro CC?

I use Premiere Pro CC to edit videos, and videos render fine when I export through Premiere Pro, but when I try to use Media Encoder CC, the video exports with weird splotches of green/purple artifacts all throughout. It almost looks like the video is glitching and having a seizure of green and purple. No idea why this happens. Could anybody help me? I use Media Encoder to export bulks of videos at a time through its queue feature, which is why I prefer to use Media Encoder for video exporting.
    Please and thanks.

    Mitch,
I was hoping that you and others might have some insight as to whether the purple and green artifacts / splotches seen in the attached screenshots (taken from 4 consecutive frames here but occurring through the entirety of the clip) could possibly have resulted from exporting video with ~ Premiere Pro CS5 or 6 ? As seen below, these splotches alternate back and forth between purple and green in every consecutive frame. I was also hoping that someone might know if this is a relatively common type of artifact and how it is caused.

  • Only one CPU core is working during video export from Premiere Media Encoder

Windows Resource Monitor showed cores 'parked' at first. I was able to turn that feature off using regedit. They no longer say they are parked'. but still only one core is at 100% while the other seven cores are at close to zero %. Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. i7-2600k processor 3.4 GHz running at 3.8 GHz XMP setting. ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard 32 GB RAM.
I had this problem in the past and fixed when I turned off core parking. But, I recently clean installed Windows and problem has returned. I contacted Microsoft and they assured me that the problems lies with Premiere or AME.
it just took over an hour to export a video that should have taken 10 minutes

This has been driving me CRAZY... so going over the message boards from 2 to 5 am this morning I found the best explanation I have seen.   The problem is that Adobe Creative Cloud is NOT "Processor Group Aware".  Windows parses any more than 36 cores into "Processor Groups" and while the Pro version of Windows 7 & 8 can handle 256 threads they have to spread them across multiple processor groups.
Simple Version:  AREA | How many cores does 3ds Max support?

  • Video exporting with no audio

I have a video file that I have saved with an alpha channel. I opened it in PS CS 5.5 made a few minor corrections and need to export to an FLV file. The video layer has transparency attached to it so I choose export. I make sure to open the properties and be certain that Export Alpha Channel is included AND Export audio is selected.
The trouble is that when I preview the file in a player... or included in another flash file... there is no audio. When I preview it in a flash player app, I can see the audio bars moving... but hear no audio. What is odd is that when I inspect the file properties... it says there is an unknown codec which is odd because it was exported with MP3 selected as the option.
Any thoughts? This is really frustrating and feel like I've exhausted all the options I have available to me.

I work in Premiere, so need you to be my "eyes" here. What Audio options do you have in FLV? For instance, with the On2 VP6 FLV CODEC, the ONLY choice for Audio is MP3, though one can adjust the Bit-Rate.
With most formats, the first thing that I would check would be Multiplexing, but that is usually not an option with FLV, as it is ON, though that could have changed, depending on the FLV CODEC chosen. What choice did you make there?
Not sure which Flash player you are testing with, but I find MediaPlayer Classic HC (free) to be a good one, and as it contains many of its own CODEC's, will play a very wide range of material. If you have not tried that, download, and install, then test in it. If MediaPlayer Classic HC will not play both the Audio and Video, then something IS wrong.
For a good file information utility, I really like the free MediaInfo. It does a great job of defining the CODEC's for both the Audio and Video streams.
    Good luck,

  • EXPORT WITH PREMIERE PRO

Why can't I export my editing with Premiere Pro

In most cases, I feel that this forum will likely give you more good, usable info, than will Adobe T/S. Rather than spend time on hold, unless you really like the music, let us know the details, per that linked article (above - just click on the word ARTICLE there). We can usually beat their time by days, and hours on hold. Also, those folk have one script - "uninstall - reinstall," and it's uttered in some odd dialect. With the necessary info, we are much, much better. We just need some details to go on. Also, other than my Mississippi "dialect," you will not need a translator. The only thing that we lack is "hold music."

  • Problem exporting with Premiere Pro/Media Encoder CS4

Hey there. I've got 15-minute long movie edited in Premiere. Whenver I've tried rendering/exporting to see what the final product looks like, Media Encoder will usually freeze up about halfway through encoding. The time estimated/time elapsed will freeze, and if I cancel the encoding the program freezes up.
Other times I will get an error that says "encode failed because the source duration is nil". Not sure what that means, but the render arrows in the work area are never set to zero.
Additionally, I've tried exporting different lengths of the project only to have the same results, with Media Encoder failing each time.
Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?
My footage is in .mp4 format, and I'm also exporting to the same format. I've got numerous music and voiceover files as well. Resolution when exporting is 1280x720, and the max bitrate is 7.0mbps.
It seems more like a software problem than a lack of adaquate hardware, but I'm running a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit with a 2.0 GHz CPU and 8GB of RAM - I'm not sure how to find out what kind of video card I have.
Thanks for any assistance, it is greatly appreciated!

Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • Multiple Hard Drives for Video Editing with Premiere Elements 8?

I'm using Premiere Elements 8 for video editing. These are the specs I'm using:
The camcorder I used to shoot the footage is a Sony Handycam with  model number HDR-SR12. It's a digital HD video camera recorder that  shoots in NTSC 1920x1080i HD  recording. The footage was shot with AVC  HD  9M (HQ), which records in higher image quality mode. The  video  camera is connected to my computer through a USB cable.
The  computer  itself is a Windows 7 desktop computer. The CPU is an HP  Pavilion Elite  HPE-150f PC with Intel Core i7-860 processor. I imported  the video into  Premiere by selecting "File" --> "Get Media From"  and then choosing the third  option from the top.
My import  option is NTSC/AVCHD/Full HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel, which matches the  specs of the camera I shot the footage with.
Even with the patch 8.0.1 that should be preventing crashing, the program keeps crashing upon startup with one specific video project. Using the exact same video files for that project, I recreated the video, with Elements, and never ran into the problem. Both times, I had the patch installed.
At the moment, I am using only the single internal hard drive for everything (software, OS, video editing, etc.). It is 1 TB in size. However, I am informed that one hard drive is not recommended for video editing, and that I need at least two hard drives, one for OS and one specifically for video editing. I was also informed of FireWire 800 and eSata; however, it does not appear that my computer supports eSata.
Can this problem be resolved if I have an external hard drive and connect it to my computer with FireWire 800 (which the computer supports)? If not, what can be done so this problem doesn't arise in the future?
    Thanks for the help.

When you import the footage is there a red line across the whole of the timeline?

As you have the recreated project working fine I'd be inclined to put this down as a one-off glitch. If it happens again on a different project then it may be more worrying. You may want to consider using save-as to create multiple versions of your project (note this does NOT duplicate the source clips - so you won't be eating up much extra disk space). You could for example use save-as to create a daily version - ProjectName-Mon, ProjectName-Tue etc....

  • What is best method to overcome jerky video export ?

    Hi
    Flash CS5.
A basic fundamental issue here, getting a decent movie exported from flash.
I have a 60fps movie (25 was jerky motion [png images as MC’s classic tweened across screen] and after various fps tests 60 was settled on)  with MC’s cars and humans and other items, all MC’s have 60fps timelines, cars and humans with reflections moving across screen. It all plays fine in Flash with ctrl enter. Export it as an avi and play with Quicktime and the action is not just jerky, vehicle enters stage, stops, 5 secs later it jumps halfway across, etc etc, it should run smoothly all the way.
    Likewise mov.
As the swf is smooth, played via browser, published file set etc, I reckoned converting that would be better.
I have used an swf to avi converter (iWisoft) , tried all settings highest bitrate, mov wav avi, all are jerky, vehicles move but in a slightly jumpy way, you see double roof panels etc.
    I have seen a thread
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/747600 with an apparent solution.
saying play movie on timeline by hitting enter and watch the fps vary, well mine stays steady at 60 !
It then says export at 5 fps, allows coding of each and every frame, so I alter the 60 to 5 on timeine and then export movie at 5fps as avi.
Play avi and the reflections are solid not translucent, so that’s no good. If it means going into every MC and altering the fps also to 5 that’s far too much to do. I have MC’s in MC’s in MC’s like a russian doll !  Would not converting all the MC’s to 5fps  be the cause of loss of reflections ?
What a crazy thing to have to do after creating the movie. Tell us this before we buy flash.
However I try for a convert to 60fps, using VirtualDub and the result plays in Quicktime with jerkiness. In VLC Media Player its warped and grey, total mess.
The ‘Correct’ marked post in the thread above didn’t work at all.
Any other  ideas, as posters in that thread were commenting on a lack of Adobe input to this issue being faced by various bods, creating movies in Flash that look fine but with an inability to get them as mpeg avi etc is bad news.
Is there an official method decreed by Adobe on this now. ?
    What actually truly works ?

  • Artifacts on effects and export with Premiere Pro CC

Premiere Pro CC is producing video artifacts whenever I add in effects or transitions. Also appears in exports. I don't know if it's due to the codecs I'm using or low bit rates, but I've never had this problem till I moved from a PC to Mac.
Message was edited by: Kevin Monahan Reason: body of post was in the title.

    Emily -
Are you using a new Mac Pro?  Have you seen this thread, by chance?  Your image looks very similar to what the rest of us have seen.  If so, the current supported solution is to disable hardware acceleration for MPE until Apple officially releases OS X 10.9.4.  An unsupported solution is to sign up for Apple's beta program, and install the 10.9.4 beta.

  • Why video exported with Mpeg2 format look brightner than input files?

This is my example work file.
From Left I import MOV files to Editing in Premiere Pro
and Right I Export to Mpeg2 fornamt for my com(.mpg) and write to DVD(.m2v).
How I setting in export window for right color like oiginal file?
    Or I did something wrong?
    Thanks.

Along with the viewer difference, that GLenn alludes to, remember that MPEG-2 is a highly-compressed CODEC, and some data will be lost in the Export process. Some of that lost data will be in the chroma area, and also in the luminance area. These changes might well be noticed in a side-by-side monitoring.
As a test, Export to MOV w/ the Animation CODEC, and check that output against the original.
    Good luck,

  • F4V video exported with no any interaction?

    using adobe captivate 5

NO any pausa and not any click working ???
    any Idea why???

    Hi there
It's because you changed from an interactive experience to one that is simply viewed. F4V is just a video like you might record and watch on YouTube, Vimeo or other site. You forego any interactivity with that format.

  • QT video export with Embedded QT video

I had a whole series of problems in exporting my slide show to QT after I embedded a QT movie. Transitions got messed up. Some bullets stopped working and I have been trying to debug for 3 hours. I saw a number of closed but unresolved posts on this so I wanted to post my findings here.
What I finally figured out was that the problem was that I didn't properly set the "start video" and "stop video" in the Build in and Build out functions. Once I did that all worked. I have a sound track through out and sound on the embedded QT and it all works fine.
I hope this is helpful to someone. Now I am going to take some aspirin and go to bed.

No, this would have required Apple to build a Flash video encoder engine into Keynote's export module. You'd think if it was already a flash movie, it would work, but it doesn't, so assume they just didn't bother building in support for embedding flash movies into a flash export.

  • First Video Export to DVD Question

Hi - I have my first ever video export from Premiere to a DVD and I'm a little nervous about it.  My footage will be shot with the Panasonic ACHD (I think that's the model as I don't have the camera with me here) and the camera is set for 1280 x 720 at 24 FPS.
I was looking through the export settings in Premiere CS4 and found the MPEG-DVD and MPEG Blue Ray settings.  When I select MPEG-DVD, I notice that two vertical bars are in each end of the output; when I select MPEG Blue Ray, there's a setting in there that makes those bars go away and the picture fits the dimensions perfectly, so it looks like I can use those settings.
My question is - after I export this file, how do I actually get it on the DVD disk?  Should I export it like above and then use Adobe Encore to burn the disk?  Or is there some other method?
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Your original file is HiDef, a DVD is Standard Def at 720x480 so you will see a difference from original to DVD
You may not use BluRay files on a DVD... see above
You use PPro for editing, Encore for authoring... reading below
