JES on Solaris 10 ?

Has the latest JES Messaging Server (and other software) been certified for use on Solaris 10 (clustered environment). The new zone feature has my interest. I know that zone failover won't be available until later this year. I'm just planning ahead.
Thanks,
Roger S.

Apparently, I missed the train. :-) When did Sun start calling JES 2004Q2 et al, JES2 JES3 etc?
Anytime fram on JES3?
Thanks,
Roger S.

  • Solaris 10 zone config for JES

Setup a zone to install JES - Web servers, but when I launch the installer I get the following:
    WARNING: Unsupported non-global zone
    EntSysResources:zoneCheckPanel-Gui-LocalZoneSupported
Something in the zone setup is incorrect, but not sure what.
Anyone else out running JES in Solaris 10 zones?
    Thanks!

    From docs.sun.com -
The following Java ES and zones scenarios are supported in this release of Java ES:
    * Installing Java ES in a non-global zone that uses the whole root file system (Using the default sparse root file system is not supported.)
    * Installing Java ES in the global zone with no non-global zones
Zone can be 2 type - sparse root and whole root . sparse root model has following folders inherited - /lib, /platform, /sbin and /usr.
If a non-global zone doesn't have any inherit-pkg-dir resources, such a zone is said to be a whole root one
If you want to create a whole root zone but default shared file systems resources have been added by using inherit-pkg-dir, you must remove these default inherit-pkg-dir resources using zonecfg before you install the zone:
    zonecfg:my-zone> remove inherit-pkg-dir dir=/lib
    zonecfg:my-zone> remove inherit-pkg-dir dir=/platform
    zonecfg:my-zone> remove inherit-pkg-dir dir=/sbin
    zonecfg:my-zone> remove inherit-pkg-dir dir=/usr

  • Mailman and jes

i have installed mailman and jes on solaris 10.it's include identity server and communication server.i have created test10 maillist and sent a message to maillist because mail is not delivery.I checked pipe queue.i saw this error "Failed to create shell input (Permission denied)
^A^ABoundary_(ID_Aivo6PXmS+eY4mCQSs4+CQ)" . i added mailmanwrapper in program list. How could i solve this problem...
    thanks..
    regards...

"I used communication express". I have no idea what this might mean, nor how it affects "mailman", "mailmanwrapper" or such.
Mailman is something you're trying to integrate into the MTA, right? Communi8cation Express is a mail client. Ther'es really no relationship.
If you're getting errors about permissions, then you need to examine the error carefully, and see what file or directory has wrong ownership or permissions.

  • Web Hosting Manager for Sun JES?

Does somebody know about realizations of Web Hosting Manager (like Cpanel/WHM) for Sun Web server?
Does Cpanel port for Sun JES / Sun Solaris exist? Or some software system based on Java?

Sorry, if my question was incomprehensible. Some explanations below ...
I try to find solution, which will allow to use Sun Java System Web Server as comfortable platform for web hosting. Functionality of needed software package should be similar to functionality of Cpanel/WHM.
    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPanel (or directly http://www.cpanel.net):
"cPanel ("Control Panel") is a graphical web-based web-hosting control panel, designed to make administration of websites easy. cPanel handles all aspects of website administration in its interface.
WebHost Manager (WHM) is a web-based tool used by server administrators and resellers to manage hosting accounts on a web server."
Unfortunately, Cpanel/WHM is developed and supported for Linux (or FreeBSD)/Apache platform.
    Questions below.
    1. Does somebody know about installation and using of Cpanel/WHM on Sun Web Server / Solaris?
    2. Does somebody know about software systems with same functionality, but written for Sun Web Server / Solaris?

  • AM SDK Install Problem - Two server config

I am using the 2005Q4 release of JES on Solaris 10 zones. I have ds, web, and AM on first zone (zldap) and I have web, and the sdk installed on the second zone (zmail). No problems with the zldap appliations. The zldap apps start and run without issues.
    **zldap zone: /jes/ds, /jes/web, /jes/am (full install), and /jes/da
**zmail zone: /jes/web, /jes/amsdk (AM SDK)
I installed the AM SDK on the web server in the zmail zone and it starts up without any errors, however, when I try the"./amadmin -u amadmin -w *** -m http://zldap.domain.com" command it returns errors. I am also trying to install the uwc and get errors and I am assuming that there is a problem with the SDK.

  • Csconfigurator.sh failes with -nodisplay

    JES-3, Solaris 10.
Trying to run csconfigurator.sh -nodisplay failes complainning about not being able to open a display. Setting DISPLAY variable to a real X server helps but install failes at the end compainning about not finding ics.conf file. Is this a know bug. Calendar release notes mention csconfigurator.sh but but only using -state option.
    Thanks,
    d.

I understand it's trying to open X and -nodisplay is broken. The solution was to start vncserver on the box. What I'm looking for is a workaround. The goal is to have a scriptable way of installing and configuring JES components that could be deployed via jumpstart.
    thanks,

  • JVM for the ARM Core

Can any body tell me about the JVM which supports the ARM core .
How do i get that ?
Is it free or i have to purchase license ? Please help me on this is it very urgent..

Jumping on the JVM bandwagon, I've posted a couple notes to the JES upgrade/install forum, but this is valid here..
    Scenario #1
Installed Solaris 9 12/03 and JES Release 1
    JVM version reports as 1.4.1_06
    Scenario #1a
When i install Webserver 6.1 SP1, (after verifying that SUN supports this with JES) the JVM drops down Post SP1 application to JVM 1.4.1_03
    Scenario #2
When I install Solaris 9 04/04 and JES Release 1
    JVM version reports as 1.4.2_04-b05
Now Webserver 6.1 SP2 is out.. (notice the install docs say to install via JES not via SP2 installer.. but how do you do this??? I can't find further documentation, and the JES installer either uninstalls or installs the product that's part of JES??))
Anyhow, so.. It appears that the JVM is at the mercy of the Solaris version you install... What IS the optimum JES Release 1 JVM that I should be running..? Who's in command here, JES or Solaris..
For JES, I'm using portal, SRA, and ID svr, and Dir svr etc...
Things that make you go.. "Hmmmm"

  • Multi-CD installation work around

    Hi developers,
you can copy the part of the HP-UX release notes 819-8007 about the multi-CD installation issue, in the release notes for JES 05Q4 Solaris Sparc.

I have the same problems with my N95 (not 8gb) and Pioneer AVIC-X3 (CD-BTB200). I donĀ“t know wath we can do!!!!

  • SUN JES - migrating from Solaris to Red Hat Linux

I have some EJBs working fine on JES 2004Q2 on Solaris. I want it to work on Linux JES 2005Q4.
I guess all that I may need to do is:
    - Install JES 2005Q4 for Linux
    - Deploy by EJBs
Is there anything else I should be taking care?

No, you don't need to do anything special. Any application working on Solaris version of JES should behave exactly the same on Linux version.

  • JES 2004Q2 and Solaris LDAPclient

    hi Folks
    I will describe my issue:
I have a server with Solaris 8 and JES 04Q2 i want to use the JES LDAP Server as a Master Ldap Server for others SUN workstations (To have only one password and login for portal, calendar, mail,etc..) I could ran the idsconfig command to setup the LDAP Server for solaris LDAP Clients, but when I try to run the ldapclient command in a client workstation I have the next message:
Failed to find defaultSearchBase for domain my.domain.com
The ldap client that i ran was:
    ldapclient init -a proxyDn=cn=proxyagent,ou=profile,o=my.domain.com,o=isp domainName=my.domain.com -a profileName=default -a proxyPassword=mypasswd my_jes_server.my.domain.com:389
I think the problem is an aci or something like.
    any help????

We don't get a lot of cases for either OS, but I do know that some are deployed.
Stability should be similar for X86 Solaris as for Sparc. This version has been out for some time.
Linux is newer, and perhaps less tested.
Outlook connector should be the same. We share souce code between all the platforms.

  • How-To Sun JES 5 on Solaris 10 -Zones

    Hi Experts,
I am in a process of installing JES 5 on Soalris 10 ( T2000 server with Global and non-global Zones).I ahve installed the below components in various zones :
    Shared components -- Gloabl zone
    Directory Server --Zone 1
Access Manager over web server-- Zone 2
Now, where should i install portal server provided that i want a Applicaiton server also.
Please put some light on this .
    thanks
    Lokesh

    Hi ,
    Many thanks for the reply.
Basically I want to go with the choice of having PS over Application Sever in a New Zone.
I tried Installing Application server and Portal server in a new Zone, while installing I provided the values for the already Installed Directory Server and Access Manager (which are on diff zones).
The Installation of Portal server was successfull but config failed.I looked into the /var/opt/SUNWportal/logs/config/portal.fabric.0.0.log and found the below error
    [#|2007-10-31T14:17:49.638+0000|SEVERE|SJS Portal Server|debug.com.sun.portal.fabric.config|ThreadID=10; ClassName=com.sun.portal.fabric.config.ValidatePortalInputData; MethodName=validateAMSDK; |PSFB_CSPFC0056:Error while validating the SSO Token.

    at com.sun.portal.fabric.config.ValidatePortalInputData.<init>(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.portal.fabric.config.ConfigurePortal.main(Unknown Source)
Since the Access Manager and Portal server are on different web containers ( Webserver and Portal Server respectively) , I suppose the above errors are related to those.
    Please let me know -
    1) Is the deploymen architecture Correct?
    2) What can be done to solve the above problem.
Thanks for your time on this post.

The suggested patch would be of value only if the system was installed with Solaris 10 Update 2 or older and had never been patched. Rev-17 of patch 119130 is/was from 2006, which can be seen by reading the README for it.

  • JES Access Manager User Creation for Messanger

    Hi Everyone
I installed JES 2005 Q4 on Solaris 10 x86 with schema 2 and Access Manager 7. The Directory Tree is as follows:
    Sol1.nucleussoftware.com:389
    dc=nucleussoftware,dc=com (34 acis)
    DSAME Users
    Internet
    People
    Groups
    Client Data
    services
    nucleussoftware.com
    People
    Groups
    o=Netscape Root (3 acis)
    cn=Schema (6 acis)
    cn=monitor (5 acis)
    cn=config (4 acis)
Organization DN when I ran "configutil" after running comm_dssetup.pl, was specified o=nucleussoftware,dc=nucleussoftware,dc=com
This is fresh installation and not any migration.
Now I create user from Access Manager, http://sol1.nucleussoftware.com/amserver
There are two organizations 1. Nucleussoftware and 2. Nucleussoftware->nucleussoftware.com
So I have two locations to create users in People.
When I create user from Access Manager and try to login into WebMail, I get Login Failed.
But when I open "startconsole" or "mpsconsole" and open Messaging Server Console and in new user's property, Account Attribute, I mark the check box, and now try to login into WebMail, I get error message, "Mailbox is on a different server".
I am missing one attribute that I used to get with schema 1 on iPlanet 5.2 for any user, Mail Server Address.
Please tell me the exact method of creating a user for Messaging.
    Regards
    Amit Bist

Access Manager was never intended to create working mail users. The Delegated Admin package is provided as part of JES, and that's what it is for, to manage users and groups. There's both a web interface, and a command-line interface, "commadmin"
Or, you can examine the ldap entries for the automatically created accounts, and duplicate that. Messaging doesn't really care how the ldap entries get done, just so that they are done correctly.

  • DS license with Solaris: 5.1 vs. 5.2?

My understanding was that Solaris 9 comes with a license to use Sun ONE DS 5.1 with up to 200,000 entities (having userPassword) primarily for Naming Services, but that this license didn't extend to DS 5.2.
I'm seeing a lot of traffic about using 5.2 and less about 5.1, plus references to getting 5.2 off of the Solaris CD's. I haven't got Solaris 9 04/04 yet. But my understanding (URL's below) was that 12/03 and 04/04 still came with 5.1 for Solaris and a separate copy of 5.2 as a part of the Java Enterprise System, which has a separate licensing system.
    http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/817-3801/6mjcck32h?a=view
    http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/817-3801/6mjcck32v?a=view#whatsnew-s9fcs-45
Has this changed? Does the DS license included in Solaris now allow use of DS 5.2? Or are a lot of people buying the full JES or a separate copy of DS 5.2 when they get 5.1 for free?

Directory Server is now delivered as a component of Java Enterprise System, that's true.
You can also download 5.2 from http://wwws.sun.com/software/download/products/3ee79e69.html it seems.
Concerning the licensing, if you've had a maintenance contract starting from the first entry, then you can upgrade to 5.2, for which Sun is continuing to release patches until that version is retired. As far as I know anyway.
    Hope that helps,
    Mark
