JES4  idle imap capability ?

Hello,
I want to know if JES4 (JES2005Q4 - Sun Java System Messaging Server 6.2-9.09) support imap idle capability. I only found that this capability start on JES5.
Is it possible on JES4 ?
Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
thanks for your answer. I found on Sun Solve a Patch (120228-20) for JES4 that introduce de IMAP IDLE Capability. I hope we can update it from 6.2 release to 6.3 release.
Thanks.

  • Idle IMAP session buildup

We are experiencing a very high number of idle imap threads ( 1100+ )
    consuming all the memory on our server ( 6.5 sp5, 7.03 hp3, 2 gigs ram ) -
Seems like most are from cingular/att, probably iphones.
Any way to prevent the buildup or prune these sessions?
    Thanks,

Well my GUESS is they are NOT idle. Just 99% idle. I bet they are
staying logged in, and sending a retrieve command every few minutes.
Wiretrace to verify this of course. If they are in fact logging out and
the threads are sticking around that's a different matter
The problem is GW has a good "true" idle timeout mechanism, but no
"maximum time spent on session" setting. So short of cobbling something
together with a scriptable firewall/proxy mechanism, I dn't see what you
    can do

  • Use Yahoo! Push IMAP and GMail Outgoing Server

Hi. I use GMail as my primary email account, but I really like the Yahoo push IMAP capability.
I have setup my gmail account to forward to my free yahoo account.
How can I setup my iPhone to check my yahoo account (with push imap) but when I send, to use the GMail SMTP server? I can't find the outgoing server setting when I setup the yahoo account on my phone.

Read the reply post carefully people.
There is no mention of a magical new Yahoo account shortcut.
The reply post states that the only short cut that exist is when you set up an e-mail account.
The big one with Yahoo on it, the one you all would have had to of used already.
In other words their is no magic way of doing what you want to do.

    Dear all, need your help,
Users in branch office reported error popped up in Outlook 2010:
Your IMAP Server closed the connection.
Clicked the detail and the following are shown:
    Timeout
    Protocol: IMAP
    Server: xxx.xxx.xxx
    Port: 143

We have tried replacing user profiles, disable automatic send/receive for IMAP, run scanpst.exe to repair the PST files but none worked.
In our Exchange 2007 server (SP3 RU11), we found warnings in IMAP services:

  • WebOS 1.20 email no longer fetches gmail inbox

I've owned the pre since day 1 (6-6-09) and gmail IMAP (as items arrive) has worked flawless... UNTILL 1.20 update.  Since this update, email no longer checks for new messages in the inbox.  This is epic.
Things I've tried to solve this myself:
    - Removed account, re-added.  Nothing
    - Changed time check intervals from As items arrive to 15 mins.  Still doesn't check
    - Rebooted, Shutdown.  still no regular checks.  I do get notified of new emails on reboot, just never again.
    - Removed account, then shutdown, booted and added again.  Still doesn't check.
Even when going to the email app and manually refreshing, new messages don't come in.  Some-times after the 3rd or 4th refresh I'll get my new emails (& other times I don't.)
Is my only option downgrade because it's not even secure w/ the email exploits that exist in the older release.
FYI, i'm connect (and been connected) via WIFI.  So sprint isn't at fault.

  • Gmail not working right since Mavericks install, even after 10.9.1 upgrade

I use Apple mail. Comcast, which is POP, is my internet provider. In order to use IMAP capability I forward my email to my Gmail acct. All worked flawlessly until Mavericks came along. Even after the 10.9.1 upgrade
    Here are my issues:
    (1) draft emails are copied every minute so I get multiple drafts like this:
    Hello
    Hello John
    Hello John, how
    Hello John, how are you?
    (2) If I send myself an email to test how my email is working if I delete the received email from the inbox it deletes itself from the sent box. If I delete the email from the sent box it deletes the email in the inbox.....
    (3) and nothing is being saved on the Gmail server although my settings indicated "never" remove the email.
Any thoughts? It's drviing me crazy & I'm afraid I'm going to lose valuable emails....
    Thanks in advance....
    Jim

I decided to test Mavericks Mail with a new Gmail account today to see what the new default settings in Mail works with Gmail. It seems that all the workarounds we used prior to Mavericks are no longer needed. No root folder required. No prefix [Gmail]/ for folders.
I no longer had to use "Use this folder for Drafts, Sent, Junk, Trash". When I delete a message it actually goes to Trash not to All Mail. Yipeee!
Be sure to select All Mail folder.

  • Deleted emails always reappear

    deleted emails reappear

It looks like you're storing all of your messages on your computer rather than on the email server. Which means that when you connect, it copies all of the emails to your computer and mirrors them to the server; so when you delete them off of your computer and then reconnect it just downloads them again.
My guess is that you're connecting via POP3 rather than IMAP. POP3 requires the emails to be downloaded to the computer in order to be viewed and cannot directly edit what is on the server itself, wheras connecting via IMAP stores exclusively to the server and mirrors the folder configuration.
If that's the problem you would likely need to manually configure your email accounts again and using IMAP, provided your email host has IMAP capability. If it does you should be able to find the server settings and perhaps even instructions on configuring with IMAP. Check your email in a browser and find the server settings. You may have to hunt around a bit or contact your email client's support.
    Hope this helps! :-)

  • ICloud server blocking Earthlink forwarded emails

Looks like a problem that has happened before with respect to blocking of Roadrunner emails sent to people with me.com email address has resurfaced, this time with Earthlink. I have an old Earthlink account (at least 20 years old, which I keep only because of the number of online accounts linked to this email - almost 1000), and I have email forwarding set up on it to forward all emails to my me.com account, where I can review it at home or on one of my mobile devices. It has been working well for about 8 years.
Today, however, messages sent to my earthlink.net address are being bounced back to the sender due to this error:
    host mx4.me.com.akadns.net [17.172.34.66]: 550 5.7.0 Blocked - see https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi?ip=207.69.195.100
It seems that the spam filtering service, proofpoint (who was at the root of the problem with roadrunner blocked emails before), has blacklisted several of Earthlink's IP addresses, probably because they were the source of some email spam. However, there are many legitimate emails also being relayed via these IP addresses, which are being blocked. I called Earthlink, and basically wasted 90 minutes talking to a level 1 tech ("try restarting your computer") and his supervisor ("it's Apple's fault, not ours"). I spoke with Apple, who was more receptive, but unable to help (escalated to iCloud engineers). I personally entered the IP information on ProofPoint's website via their online form for such inconveniences. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.
As an aside, I wish I could just jettison Earthlink after all these years - it's an archaic system, with horrendous email. But, I just don't have the time to go to literally hunderds of websites to update my email address. Anyone have any solutions that have worked for them?
    Thanks!

Still no resolution on this issue after 48 hours. Emails forwarded from Earthlink to iCloud are still bouncing. I submitted the culprit IP addresses to Proofpoint (for me it was addresses in the range 207.69.195.98 - 207.69.195.101 - there may be many more, of course). If you haven't submitted this info to Proofpoint yet, it's probably a good idea to do so at:
    https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi
Enter the IP address that is being blocked (based on the email bounce message your sending parties receive), and then add your name and destination email address. Hopefully, Proofpoint will open up the corresponding IP range.
For now, I just added my Earthlink account onto my Mail.app accounts and onto to my iPhone (POP). I wish Earthlink had IMAP capability. What an archaic system!

  • No more mail on my android, i'm curious what you expect us to do? switch to gmail? guess so.

Does anyone know a way around this problem?
I've tried reconfiguring IMAP nothing works.

And to the above experts:  Listen to people once in a while.  Sometimes they are correct.  And sometimes you are not.  Not a big deal.  Just be open.
Perhaps you should try listening once in a while. The Apple Support article posted above has the ONLY settings required to successfully setup an iCloud email account on ANY IMAP capable email client, on ANY platform.
People here fully understood the question - it's hardly a tricky one - and gave the only answer possible i.e. the correct settings. There is only ONE correct answer - posted in the very first reply by Roger.
Just because its not working for you on your Android devices (despite working perfectly well for many other people on other Android devices, Windows phones, Blackberrys etc.) doesn't mean people here don't understand or were wrong.
Get it through your head that the settings ARE CORRECT. There are no other settings to be had. If you or your Android phones can't cope with the setup of a simple standard IMAP email account using SSL, then that's the fault of the Android OS or yourself - not Apple or anyone here.
Go to an Android forum or read your phones manual to learn how to setup an email account on your device - you've got the correct mail server settings, now learn how to input them correctly on your phone.
A quick 2 second Google search also led me to these Android Help sites:
    http://textbookgeek.com/setup-icloud-email-on-android-phones/
    http://www.wowtechy.com/how-easily-setup-icloud-email-android-running-ics/
    http://blckaapl.wordpress.com/2012/05/28/configuring-icloud-mail-on-android-smar tphones/
And guess what? They all state exactly the same settings as Apple themselves give in the above support article.

  • DVD viewing on Palm TX

I am Trying to find software that will compress DVD's into a file that can be viewed on a Palm TX. I can find for Windows but have had no luck for Mac can anyone help

You can synchronize contact information with the Address book and event and task data with iCal using…
    • iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit
    • the Missing Sync for Palm OS and the Mark/Space provided Contacts, Events and Tasks conduits
Both of those approaches use the Sync Services framework. The Palm Desktop does not, and while you can synchronize with it using the standard Palm conduits, you cannot simultaneously use either the iSync Palm Conduit or the Mark/Space conduit set to synchronize data to iCal and the Address Book.
To use iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit, you must have installed the Palm Desktop, as they require the use of the HotSync Manager and Transport Monitor. Mark/Space replaces these components with equivalent processes of its own.
Mail cannot be synchronized using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit or the Mark/Space conduit sets. You can, however, use IMAP technology to synchronize mail content by default—or, by definition, actually—by using Mail on your Mac OS X machine, and an IMAP capable client on your Palm device.

  • BT E Mail and ipad

Just received latest ipad for retirement gift and trying to sync my btinternet.com e mail account so I can keep in touch with the kids whilst we are on holidays.
I can see how to set up the account but in doing so ipad seems to want to load ALL my past inbound e mails.
The settings on my laptop are POP/SMTP for inbound and outgoing e mails.
Is there a solution that lets me access only NEW e mails or is it simpler to set up a dedicated HOTMAIL account and use that as a stand alone for the purposes of staying in contact whilst we are out of UK?
    Many thanks
ps I am a novice with Apple products

The iPad doesn't actually store all your email. All it is doing is showing you what email is on the server. If you leave all your POP email on the server, then it will show you what mail is there. However, after the initial access it will only alert you to new emails each time you check for mail.
POP email accounts are not really designed for access from multiple devices as usually the first device to access the email server downloads and then removes all new emails from the server, preventing access from another device later.
IMAP accounts (such as GMail) are much better for access from multiple devices (such as your iPad when away from home, and your computer whilst at home).
You may want to consider switching to an IMAP capable email service, now that you need to access your email from multiple devices.

  • IPad mail, multiple email accounts.  Can't use one

I have two email accounts with the same provider.  I cannot send with my default email address.   Wht can I do, if anything, about this?

I've been working on this some more, as I had indicated in my original post his comany's mail server was on an ancient Verizon domain mail server (not their regular verizon.net servers but some old servers they inherited from GTE, POP & SMTP only) which is a service they've been trying to phase out for two years and migrate their existing customer to Google Docs. Needless to say the migration was a disaster and after three 2 hour phone calls failed to resolve getting the migration done I gave up. I've got them migrated to Rackspace email.
I again deleted and recreated his work email on his iPhone 4s and I spent an hour checking and changing and trying different settings. Several times I got the message "iMap server not responding", while the rackspace server is iMap capable I had the settings set to pop and smtp so I'm still unsure why I got that and why after a number of settings changes that had nothing to do with imap the message stopped popping up. The problem that I'm now having is that all settings appear to be correct but I keep getting the message "Cannot get mail the mail server pop.xxx.com is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in mail settings". I've gone over the settings more times than I can count and I've re-entered the username and password at least a half dozen times and I keep getting the same error.
Just FYI, I'm using settings that work fine in Outlook 2007 without any problems and it's only his phone that has a problem.
    Idea's anyone?

Due to Microsoft Windows 8's dropping of Pop3 mail, Comcast now offers IMAP capability: https://xcsignup.comcast.net/onboardingapps/imap
    http://digitalmediaphile.com/index.php/2012/12/11/setup-comcast-imap-with-win-8- mail-app/
You have to sign up for it though, as Comcast needs to make adjustments. Even though Comcast is my ISP, I have no experience using their email with IMAP. It's been available since 2012.

  • How to add hotmail

I have the 2.0 software and I've entered the relevant information (windows live id, pw) and the server addresses (incoming and outgoing) are both there: but when I try access my mail through the mail icon, I get this message:
" the connection to the server failed"
    or
"your windows live id/password is incorrect"

You have to have a subscription to Hotmail Plus... their premium e-mail service that you have to pay for...to have POP/IMAP capability. *****! I found that out after I trying to forward my e-mail to another account from my hotmail and it wouldn't work.
