JES5: outlook shows 'fake' attachment icon for mails originating from uwc/e

Hi,
Strange thing:
We are using JES5 with both UWC and outlook connector.
Mails sent from UWC in Internet explorer (dutch version) display a 'file attachment' icon in outlook 2003 (in the header pane). In the message pane, there's no file attachment.
Mails sent from UWC in Mozilla (dutch version) display fine in outlook 2003 (that is: no sign of a file attachment icon).
Upon further inspection, I noticed that Internet explorer generates this type of mime header (notice the multipart/mixed)

This (cosmetic) problem is unrelated to choosing 'pure text' or 'html text' in the UWC message creation window.
I don't know where to look for solving this bug:
- is it outlook that is unable to correctly parse the 'multipart/mixed' type of mail ?
- or should internet explorer generate multipart/alternative style mails ?
any ideas ?
gr,
Tom.

That's not someting I've seen. I suggest a support case.

  • What happened to the attachment icon in Mail?

    I just upgraded to Lion, and I noticed that there wasn't an icon for mail attachments.  I looked into preferences and no option there.  I have to go into the menu to attach a file.  What happened?  That seems to be a pretty basic function.

    You're right - it's not there, but it's such a long time since I've used it, I hadn't missed it! You can either go to File > Attach file, or do what I always do which is to open the folder containing the doc(s) you want to attach and simply drag onto the body of the email. You can also select more than one doc at once by using the Shift key (or the Apple key if they are not sequential) and attach several.

  • When I hit the attach icon in mail I can select folders but not individual files

    When I hit the attach icon in mail I can select folders but not individual files

    Hmm....
    It all smells like third party software conflict.  Can you think of any candidates for third party stuff that interacts with mail, attachments, the file system?

  • Two Icons for Mail on desktop e

    I have not clue how this happened but I now have two icons for mail, one in the dock, one on the desktop. I tired to move the one on the desktop to the trash but it will not do it. I get message that I can not put in trash because it is open. Even tho it is not open... any one know how I can get rid of the icon on the desktop?

    you may have dragged and dropped the mail app icon to the dock inadvertently. quit mail and if you do not want mail to be displayed on the dock, then go to the dock and drag that mail icon to the desktop, it should then "poof" disappear, and you can continue using the icon on the desktop if that is what you want to do.
    hope this helps

  • I want to remove the icon for Photo Booth from the dock, not from the computer. How do I do this?

    I would like to remove the icon for PHOTO BOOTH from the dock only, not the computer. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it? Running OS 10.9.3

    Click & drag it away from the Dock; or Ctrl (right) click it, choose Options - Remove From Dock.

  • MS shows a different timezone for mail from Singapore

    I'm in Singapore/Malaysia running Solaris 2.6 with a patch cluster installed from
    http://sunsolve.sun.com. Every time I send an email, the date field has the
    wrong time zone in it. That is what the last field shows:
    <P>
    Date: Tue, 26 Jan 1999 18:07:47 +0730
    <P>
    It should be showing:
    Date: Tue, 26 Jan 1999 18:07:47 +0800.
    <P>
    /etc/default/init
    has the following set in it for TZ:
    <P>
    TZ=Singapore
    <P>
    The problem is not with the system time but with the timezone in the date
    section of the email. The entire Solaris system shows the right time but
    whenever MS send out a mail it shows that it is 7 hours 30 mins and not
    8 hours. This causes the mail client to show wrong the receiving time. Sendmail
    shows the right timezone.
    <P>
    The problem occurs only after installing Sun's Patch cluster. The problem
    is present in MS 4.0.

  • How can I stop the number of unread emails showing on the icon for my main account including the number of emails in my gmail account as well?

    How can I stop the number of unread emails, displayed on the icon for my main account, including the number of unread emails in my gmail account as well? The number is accurate (unlike the many users who seem to have phantom unread emails) it's just that I want each acc to show its own total, as it did before.  I suspect I fiddled with some setting unwittingly.  It seems to do it first thing each morning, particularly.  Many thanks

    If you go to Settings>Notification Centre>Mail each of your email accounts will appear here separately. You can then change if Badges are displaye on the Mail App - which will show you the number of emails - or not.
    Regards,
    Steve

  • Show file type icons for MS Word, Adobe Flash etc

    Hi,
    I'd like to know if anyone has found a way to display custom icons for assets such as MS Word documents, Adobe Flash documents etc. Currently if a user uploads one of these types of asset a generic blank document icon is presented. It would be very nice if instead a recognizable icon would be presented instead.
    I have dug into the filetypes.plist found in /Library/Application\ Support/Final\ Cut\ Server/Final\ Cut\ Server.bundle/Contents/Resources/conf and have had some success getting an Adobe InDesign document display a non-blank icon when viewing it's asset, but there's no documentation out there so I'm kind of working in the dark.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

  • Custom Icon for Windows.exe from a Mac

    It doesn't seem possible to insert a custom icon for a Windows executable when working on Captivate on a Mac, is that right? The documentation (below) seems to gloss over this shortcoming.
    Custom Icon
    You can customize the icon that is displayed for the executable file. Click Browse (...) to add a custom icon for your file. Ensure that the icon file has a .ico extension (on Windows)/.icns (for Mac).

    I tried submitting this same problem as a feature request and/or bug report.
    Unfortunately, and somewhat disconcertingly, the Captivate Bug Report form also doesn't work. No matter how thoroughly I entered my request, I got these error messages:
    The following error(s) must be corrected before this form can be completed:
    Please enter your name
    Please enter your E-mail address
    Please select if it is feature request or the bug report.

  • Maximum attachment size for Mail 4.3 and can it be changed?

    Hi,
    We are using Exchange 2010 at work and have found via several Mac users, and which I have verified myself, that Mac Mail appears to impose its own maximum attachment size limits, somewhere around 10MB. If I take the exact same message and send it via my PC running Outlook 2007 the message sends correctly.
    We have 4 users who reported the same thing so it isn't isolated to one machine. I have confirmed and re-confirmed that our Hub and Edge transports are configured to allow 100MB e-mails. Mac Mail has other ideas.
    Is there a way to change this limitation as I can't seem to find anything, via Google and/or searching these groups?
    I don't want to go back to Thunderbird or, worse yet, Entourage......

    It appears in this case to be a failure on Apples part to develop an application that support MAPI. Hopefully the forthcoming release of Office 2011 will rectify this situation.
    As I said I have gone through our setup of 6 exchange servers, covering all the bases.
    For instance,
    get-mailbox <user> | fl MaxSize
    MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    Get-TransportConfig | fl MaxSize
    MaxReceiveSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    MaxSendSize : 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes)
    All receive connectors are configured to 100MB also on our Hub Transports.
    Even the fix listed in the links above, related to EWS and changing the IIS settings, which is where the issue seems to be, doesn't seem to work for me. It may be that I have missed something of course so I'll look over those links once more.
    Maybe restarting IIS after the changes were made wasn't enough.....
    Of course the other fix, since it works perfectly well with Windows machines and Outlook is to do away with our Macs entirely. Boy that would make me happy!!

  • Outlook Crashes during Attach to E-mail

    BACKGROUND : I work for a Large Corporate Company who so far has standardized on Windows XP, Window 7, Office 2003 and 2007. We run an Exchange server which allows PDF attachment. Acrobat reader 9.0 is installed on all machine.
    PROBLEM : The PDF is opened, the user clicks attach to email – Outlook opens. The user types an email adding recipient’s address and clicks send. Outlook Hangs…
    The email is lost… as Outlook must be closed through task manager before it allows you to work.
    WORK AROUND (THE LONG WAY ROUND): Browse for the file through explorer then right click the file then click “Send to”->”Mail Recipient “.Outlook opens. The user types an email adding recipient’s address and clicks send. Email sent…
    Please Tell me someone has a solution as I recieve a minimum of 2 phone calls a day with users complaining that they have typed a long e-mail and Outlook is hanging...

    You may also search for Outlook help articles at this link
    http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US
    You may need to try several different search terms to find something... but if Microsoft knows about the problem and has a solution, that is the place to start

  • Some emails are there when searching, but do not show up in inbox for mail account. How do we permanently fix that? This is dangerous for businesses that rely

    Hi, and thanks,
    I noticed that many dozens of others have expressed the same problem with Thunderbird, but it still continues.
    For no apparent reason, sporadically, some emails don't show up in the inbox list of an account, but are actually there. If we're told later that someone sent one, and if we do a search at that time, it does come up!
    We rely on this for business, and wouldn't know to search if we are unaware that an email has come in but simply doesn't appear in the list. We have actually lost significant business $ on 3 separate occasions, from clients who have said they emailed us, but we never responded! (That's really bad, and even worse because they also won't use us any more.)
    Obviously, we of course would not want to have to check with the webmail host when we have Thunderbird. So...., how can we permanently fix this problem so it never, ever occurs??? We used to use Eudora before switching, and this never happened.
    Some blogs say to delete one of the files in the system to re-index the inboxes, but again, that would not be the answer, because we wouldn't know to do that, nor when to do that, since some emails, without a warning or clue, occasionally simply don't show up in the list at all.
    Please let us know the permanent and complete fix for this ASAP.
    Thanks so much,
    Les Pock

    Lers, I have used Thunderbird for the best part of a decade and have only once experienced something similar to what you describe and it was a corrupt database.
    So lets just back up a bit.
    If you want mail to flow without issue the first bullet to bite is anti virus.
    * Scanning of outgoing mail is a total waste of time and an added risk for no return. You anti virus already certifies your machine clean.
    * Scanning of incoming mail is of extremely limited value. Thunderbird does not allow scripts in email, so there is no bug that will junmp out and start running even if your mail is not scanned and it contains a virus. The exception to that is attachments. But they are not dangerous either, unless you try and open them. Even then your anti virus should be monitoring the temporary folder on your computer and blocking any attempt to write the infected file, let alone execute the contents.
    * Scanning of your mail folder likewise is of limited value, but is more than often the cause of mail indexes not being updated. These days anti virus program appear to scan everything. Every file as it is accessed and opened. Thunderbird often has quite large files to store mail, up to 4Gb is not all that uncommon. Anti virus program take about 2 minuted per Gigabyte to scan files. So it can be the case that the anti virus is scanning while Thunderbird is timing out waiting for access to the appropriate files.
    To make things more efficient exclude your Thunderbird mail profile folders from on access scanning by your anti virus program. The folders contain NO executable programs, and a weekly scan along with the rest of your computer with Thunderbird closed should be more than adequate. Perhaps scheduled for1am Friday. Gives Friday to deal with anything found and does not interrupt your use of the device.
    A similar exclusion can also be beneficial for other data storage areas (databases especially)
    Finally look at what processes run on your computer. there aerew by default about 40 when it is new and over time this grows with almost every security, office or game you install until your computer is so busy running background processes to check if the latest versions of XXXX has been released that it becomes sluggish and performance on most things is degraded (That common nugget of Windows computers getting slower over time is TRUE, but a large part of that is added processes and security software which is actually reducing performance quite extensively.)
    BTW right clicking a folder, selecting properties and the repair button rebuilds the index non destructively as deleting the files as you mention also looses tags.
