How to auto-fill data into Acrobat 9 PDF created from scanned paper form/document

Hello,
I am new to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. I have scanned a paper form/document that
originally had various data lines to be written on using an ink pen. I saved
the scanned PDF as an Acrobat 9 PDF. I have added various pertinent text fields
and checkboxs to PDF form and saved it with appropriate extended setting to
allow end-user to type on PDF and save a copy. At the bottom form there is a
name/signature text field for end-user name to be typed and a calendar text date
when name/signature text field is entered .
I need to send this PDF form to various end-users using (Groupwise/Novell) email
to have them sign or type their name and date at bottom of form. Is there a way
that Adobe Acrobat 9/PDF will recognize the email sender and allow the
name/signature field to automatically fill-in signature/name textbox. Are there
tools like javascript, etc. that will help me accomplish this task?
I don't know where to begin. I am a newbie. Please help!

Configure "Always hide forms document message bar" and "Do not show edit warnings" for all users?

We need to do a mass deployment of Adobe Reader XI 11.0.3 with "Always hide forms document message bar" preference setting automatically set for every user so they do not have to go through the menu and set it manually.
Is there a way to configure this for all users with the customization wizard or another method?
We also need to do the same for "Do not show edit warnings"
If these are registry keys, which registry keys set these options?

If that doesn't work and there's a configuration item in the preferences UI, do this:
Get regshot.
Close everything but Acrobat/Reader.
Take a reg shot.
Configure the setting via the UI.
Tak another reg shot.
Compare the two.
That process will give you your answer.
If there is no corresponding pref in the UI, then you probably can't do it.

FormFlow99 (Jet Forms)

Does anyone know how to send parameters to FormFlow99 forms (jetforms) from Forms 6.0?
Send the jetforms output to the directly to the report server/printer.

Jet forms are now called as Adobe forms since Adobe took over.
SAP and Adobe collectively developed Intreactive forms which are available in
ECC 6.0
So no more separate server for the Adobe forms (So called Jet forms).
We can easily develop and use Adobe forms in much more effectivey in ECC 6.0

Having the same problem in CS6. I can tell you that converting back to CS4 will NOT solve the problem. It seems when support for backward compatibility is discontinued, there's just no way to get
any help at all? Absolute failure to provide any user support so far...

I removed the jaxp.jar and parser.jar from Tomcat's Lib folder and added the xerces.jar. This moved me on to the problem described in this thread.

JDOMException: root element required in a well-formed document

Ok, my XML file looks something like this:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<this>
<that></that>
</this>
... and my Java code to build a JDOM object model from the XML file (Xerces-parsed) looks somethings like this:
Document theDoc;
SAXBuilder theBuilder;
InputSource = theSource;
theBuilder = new SAXBuilder("org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser");
theDoc = builder.build(theSource);
Now, when I compile and run, I get a JDOMException that looks something like this:
org.jdom.JDOMException: Error on line 1 of document : The root element is required in a well-formed document.
What's up with that?

(1) Thanks for taking the time. I'm not sure how I could make more than one root element. All I know is, in my XML file, the element tag that comes right after the <? xml version="1.0" ?> line has the same name as the very last tag in the file (with a "/" added before the name). There are no other elements in the file with that name, so I figure that makes it (ie. <this></this>) the root element of my document. N'est pas?
(2) I have some more info since I originally posted:
I added the following line:

... to the catch() area that throws the JDOMException - like follows:

Which I take to mean that I have to sign my applet. Is there any way around doing that? Because I don't want to if I don't have to.

OdiInvokeWebService invoke the Async ws error!! not a well-formed document

Hello, Everybody, I need you help.
I use the OdiInvokeWebService utility to invoke the Async web service in the ODI Design. the Async service can run successful. but the ODI has the error:The root element is required in a well-formed document. If I use the OdiInvokeWebService to invoke the sync web service. It is ok, not error happens. so i guess that maybe beacause the Async has not the reponse message. but I don't know how to resolve the problem. PLZ help. thanks.

Hi, Aprendiz, Thanks for you apply. Do you meet this problem. If I use the OdiInvokeWebService to Invoke the sync webservice. It has not problem. But the Async webservice has the error log. Now I must use OdiInvokeWebService.Thank you.

I'm using the variable SFSY-FORMPAGES, I get a star "*" instead of the total number of pages.

Whenever using the global variables in the Program Lines, enter the variable name in Input Parameters if you are going to use(read) the variable. If you are going to both read/write the variable value enter the same in Output Parameters.

Adding metadata on form docuement (PDDocSetXAPMetadataProperty)

Hi all,
I try to add metadata info in form document with PDDocSetXAPMetadataProperty, but I got an error message (this operation is not permitted).
it's work fine in a standard pdf docuement, but not in form pdf document.
any idea ???

I've noticed that is tied with the securoty permission (Changing the document : not allowed)...
Is there any way to allowed it from VC++ & Acrobat sdk 8 ?

Cfmail loops back to original form document yet not sending email.

I had produced a form to be emailed. after one finishes the form and press submit it loops back top the form again, yet i do not get an email. Doen anyone know why this is happening? When you submit a form, the name of it doesn't matter. When you process it it's form.this and form.that, not name_of_form.this and name_of_form.that. In your code, the structure event_request does not exist until the cfparam tags create it. All of those tags will create variables with empty strings. Later your code adds a bunch of error messages and doesn't send any mail because of your if/else logic.

Opening size of a pdf form (document)

How can I control the magnification size of my pdf form when someone opens it on the web?

- Choose File > Properties
- In the Document Properties dialog box, click on the Initial View tab at the top. Then set the options for Layout and Magnification as desired.

Updating a PDF form document

If I create a new PDF document with a series of form fields and then need to update, e.g. the word document is changed to include or change fields, can I update the existing PDF without having to re-do all the fields

Yes you can change the word document, then make a new PDF then replace the form with the fields with the new PDF.
If you are careful and do not change the position of the fields then it will fit right in.
If you change or add fields then with Acrobat you will have to rearrange the fields to match.

I am creating an xml form and want to use the 'ValidTo' property for document lifetime. I have created the browser and can get the date picker, however the 'ValidTo' requires date and time.
How on the xml for can you user a dateTime Picker or is there another way to do this?

If the time is not required, you can specify a default time. See http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b4/fd2c407586ea01e10000000a155106/frameset.htm for more details.
Unfortunatelly, a comfortable time picker is not available which means that a user needs to enter the time manually if not the default time should be taken.
