JHeadstart Migration Problem

Hi,
I have an oracle form as an .fmb file. I Need to migrate the form to JDevelope(ADF) using JHeadstart.
As the form was built using Form Builder, I created a repository and did a reverse engineering using the Design Capture functionlity of the Oracle Designer. While running the Design Capture, it ran sucessfully without giving me any errors. Following is the log message :-
Form Generator : Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Build 10.1.2.6.18) - Production on Tue Jul 15 09:33:57 2008
Copyright (c) 1995, 2005 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved
Capturing Module 'F_TRANS_HIST'
Capture of 'F_TRANS_HIST' Successful
Design and Application Logic Capture Complete
I then created an application [JSF, ADF BC] in JDeveloper. I then enabled the JHeadstart of the ViewController Project and then ran the JHeadstart Designer-Forms Migrator. This process also ran sucessfully without giving me any error.
When in the JDeveloper Application Navigator, under the Model project ->Application Sources, I am just able to see the application Module. The entities are NOT present.
Is there a problem during my design capture? or during the migration.
If somehow on if i try to define an application defination on the same project and then run the JHeadstart Application Generator then it gives me 2 error message which are as follows:-
[WEB-INF/JhsCommon-beans.xml, default/misc/facesConfig/jhsCommonBeans.vm] Velocity log [error] Method get threw exception for reference $JHS in template default/misc/facesConfig/jhsCommonBeans.vm at [94,31]
[WEB-INF/JhsCommon-beans.xml, default/misc/facesConfig/jhsCommonBeans.vm] org.apache.velocity.exception.MethodInvocationException: Invocation of method 'get' in class java.util.ArrayList threw exception class java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException : Index: 0, Size: 0
Please help me. Do let me know at which step I am going wrong.
Thanks
Surbhit Jain

Hi Surbhit Jain,
I don't know what went wrong without getting more details. It could be that the Design Capture did not capture any Module Table Usages, and that's why you did not get any Entity Objects. It could also be that you ran into a bug in JHeadstart. Anyway, this week JHeadstart 10.1.3.3 was released, in which JHeadstart Designer-Forms Migrator was replaced by JHeadstart Forms2ADF Generator (JFG). See the announcement on top of this forum.
JFG can read .fmb files directly, there is no need to Design Capture into Oracle Designer. I suspect that you have more chances of success with JFG.
Hope this helps,

  • Jheadstart Migrating .pll library from designer

    Hello..
    As teh library is concerned I have the total code for my forms in the library. The library contains all the trigger code on form level, block level and item level. This library contains the code for nearly 70-80 forms and the total business of the application is present in these forms.
    As the forms internally call this library will I need to add the code manually in the java environment forms or can I migrate the library along with the form migration itself.
    One more thing; I have a runtime database and designer database. After migration of the database how can I attach the generated Application with the runtime database so that I will be able to get connected to the database and retrive the existing data into the newly generated forms.
    Hope to hear from you in this regard.

    Azher,
    What JHeadstart migrates is the declarative, transactional behaviour of the blocks in the form. So basically the stuff that works without PL/SQL code. The J2EE architecture you are migrating to is very different from the Forms architecture. There are no form-, block- or item-level triggers, and what's more, there's probably code in those triggers that calls Forms built-ins that do not exist and have no replacement in the J2EE architecture we are using.
    Therefore you will have to migrate any trigger/library logic that still makes sense to have in the new situation. Note that often not all code NEEDS migration, simply due to the fact that an HTML web application is a very different TYPE of application than a Forms client.
    If you went overboard on 'thick-client UI features', where items and buttons are enabled/disabled/shown/hidden/coloured/filled with every action of the end user, you will either end up writing tons of javascript code, or you will give up and decide that an HTML application should not depend so heavily on this type of interaction.
    For the code that you do want to migrate, the most important thing to do is to determine WHERE in the new architecture this needs to be implemented. You will have to think more in terms of 'migrating functionality' than 'migrating lines of code'.
    I would recommend just trying the JHeadstart Designer Generator on a couple of Forms, running the application and determining what functionality is missing (compared to the original Form). Then you will need to think about where and how you would implement this functionality in the new architecture. Is is something that could/should be done in the ADF BC objects, or in the View pages, or in the controller, or perhaps a combination of those. Chances are that you will not even need to look at the original PL/SQL code that implemented this functionality in the Forms.
    As to your question about connecting to your runtime database: the JHeadstart Designer Generator wizard will prompt you to create/specify two JDeveloper Database Connections, one to connect to the Repository, and one to connect to the runtime database. Your generated application will by default connect to the latter when running it. Of course this can be changed when deploying your application in another (production) environment.
    This an much more information can be found in the JHeadstart Developers Guide, in the chapter on the Designer Generator.
    Kind regards,

  • Photoshop/Elements to Revel Photo Migration Problem!

    What happened to my Photoshop/element photos? They were supposedly migrated, but I don't see them! I have no albums in my Revel account.I had a paid subscriiption and it was cancelled back in or around February, and told that the photos would be moved over to REVEL...Can anyone help me to get them back?

    First, thanks Pattie for following up with me. I am going to check my backed up hard drives to see if my photoshop materials are on them. It will take me a few days, as I have only small amounts of time to research it at this time. maybe a break will come in a day or two for a determination.

    Michael-
    Is it possible you logged into Photoshop.com with a different email, or is it possible that you did not set up your Elements to sync with Photosho.com? These are the two main reasons users can not find their files.
    The Photoshop.com account created in 2009 with the email you use to log in to this forum has no files in it, and therefore, nothing migrated to the Revel account with the same login. You do have a Revel account with the same login, but it is also empty since nothing migrated.

  • JHeadStart Security problem-error page cannot be found- role based security

    JHeadStart Security problem-error page cannot be found- role based security
    Good morning! How are you? I would need some help in a jheadstart 10.1.3.2 security case and I was wondering if you could give me a hand to go on. I create the Model project with tables of oe schema. Then in JHeadStart to perform security I follow the following steps: In ViewController/WEB-INF/web.xml – properties I do the following: login configuration: http basic authentication rfc 7617: realm:jazn.com
    Security roles : I define two roles: customer and administrator , Security Constraints: web_resources: All_pages, Url Patterns: faces/*. Then in Tools/Embedded OC4J Preferences/Global/Authentication JAZN/Realms/jazn.com/users: I define two users c1, password c1 and a1,password a1, roles/member users/ I attribute the roles to the relevant users c1—customer and a1—administrator. Then in application definition editor on service level I define security/use role based authorization=true , authorization type: JAAS and when access denied go to next group=true. On group level e.g.: ProductInformation: Authorization/Authorized Roles Permissions: administrator.On item level : Orders/Items/OrderTotal/Operations/Update Allowed: #{jhsUserRoles['administrator']},Then I generate the pages (run the jag) . The generation is completed successfully but when I run the View Controller project a “the website declined to show this webpage…(page cannot be found)’ is displayed. What should I do? I would appreciate it if you would help me on this issue! Thank you very much.

    Thand you very much for your reply! Unfortunately there is a specific restriction-convention in the project I work in. I am supposed to perform role based security with my own tables and no by the jheadstart’s ones. Could you find out what is my fault with the steps I follow trying to perform the process?
    To remind you my steps I paste the following again:

  • Error in Jheadstart migrated form

    I have migrated one of my existing forms from designer.
    I got some error in ResourceBundle files.. The error was that the migration had generated an extra .(dot) before the class name of the Resource bundle.
    After removing that error, Now I have an another error this says..
    Error(22,53): cannot access class oracle.jheadstart.model.bc4j.handler.DataObjectHandlerImpl; file oracle\jheadstart\model\bc4j\handler\DataObjectHandlerImpl.class not found
    I tried to change the additional class path with the headstart path of c:\jhs905\headstart\lib, but even thought it did not work out...
    Waiting for a reply help from some one...
    Thanks in advance..

    Sandra,
    Really thanks for the help.. I got the form.
    The form got opened..
    And I am able to see the view now..
    But the form doesnt get me the details or the records that are present in teh runtime database...
    I connected the Appmodule to the runtime database and saved teh configuration..
    As u suggested me .. I have downloaded the jdeveloper 10.1.2 and this jheadstart is not able to get my form from the designer. When I select teh workspace of the designer and thjen the form.. The processstarts and stops so I thought of going back to the opld version and check out..
    I think there are some problems in 10.1.2 so that the same form is not being migrated in ver 9 but not in 10.1.2.
    You might be knowing the problem..
    So Any ways thanks for the help..
    If you can suggest me for one more thing ..
    Is ther any way so that I can migrate the library of the developer to this java . as we have Business logic in that runtuime library..
    Thanks any way for the information..

  • JheadStart -Migrated to 10.1.3 ,but Few API not found.

    Hi ,
    I have migrated my project from JDEV 10.1..2 TO JDEVE10.1.3 , when I rebuild the project , it was showing many errors.so i checked out this forum and fixed by replacing import oracle.jheadstart.model.adfbc.JhsApplicationModuleImpl; to import oracle.jheadstart.model.adfbc.v2.JhsApplicationModuleImpl;
    Still there are some more import problems pertaining to JHEADSTART.
    import oracle.jheadstart.JhsAdfConstants;
    import oracle.jheadstart.view.strutsadf.RangeSetWrapper;
    import oracle.jheadstart.view.strutsadf.TableBindingWrapper;
    Here is import which is not identified in 10.1.3 giving lot of errors.
    Thanks,

  • JBO-27102 after JHeadstart migration

    Dear readers,
    After migration of the JHeadstart version to version 10.1.3.3.87 an ADF application intermittently throws
    following error when using JSF-based navigation:
    JBO-30003: The application pool (nl.niwo.cobus.model.services.CobusServiceLocal) failed to checkout
    an application module due to the following exception:
    oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.DeadViewRowAccessException,

    at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolImpl.doCheckout(ApplicationPoolImpl.java:2002)
    Now and then when using JSF-based navigation, an error occurs causing the requested page not to be rendered.
    In the application log we see that oracle.jbo.server.DBSerialize and oracle.jbo.server.Serializer.activate have been invoked, resulting in oracle.jbo.DeadViewRowAccessException (JBO-27102): Attempt to access dead view row of persistent id ...
    In an new started session the data entry can be completed succesfully (probably because then there is no serialization involved).
    Further info: ADF 10.3.39.84 and Java 1.5.0_06
    Last week I posted a Service Request Number 3-1650966391 for the problem mentioned below on Metalink.
    Reponse to this SR is that the problem is likely related to JHeadstart,
    and therefore has to be addressed to Oracle Consulting / JHeadstart community.
    Hope someone can support us in solving this problem (JBO-27102 oracle.jbo.DeadViewRowAccessException) described below..
    At this moment we are not sure how to solve this issue.
    With kind regards,
    Jacco Cijsouw

    Jacco,
    This error is typically caused by some member variable holding on to an ADF BC row object across requests. Can be anywhere in the code.
    Are you using the JHeadstart flex fields and customized standard items options?
    You already contacted the dutch Oracle expert services, and I think it is a good idea that a consultant will come on site to find out the cause.

  • Catalog Migration Problem from 10g to 11g

    Hi,
    When i am trying to migrate catalog of 10g to 11g. They have some problems
    1. In obiee 10g (under root folder) it shows only around 5 dashboards. But actually when i am seeing in the I catalog manager of obiee 10g it shows 12 dashboards and pages.
    Can some please help me on this how to see the other dashboards and page in obiee 10g ( under root folder ).
    2. When i am trying to migrate the catalog folder in obiee 11g it also shows around 5 dashboards. And other dashboards are not seeing after migration.
    Can someone please help me on this how to see the other dashboards and pages in obiee 11g as well.

    Hi,
    In Webcat, there can be some contents that are inconsistent/invalid. And such contents have 0 byte size. Please check if dashboards files that are not visible and their corresponding .atr files have 0 byte size.
    Other possibility can be dashboards are hidden for the user-id you are using for login.
    Please mark as helpful/correct if this reply helps.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • CUCM 8.6(2) migration problem with external calls

    Hello all.
    Yesterday we have migrated our telephone infrastructure from CM4.x to CUCM8.6(2), after some weeks of tests.
    Yesterday night all seems to work properly, all phone updated and registered, external calls going out and in.
    But from this morning, with all users at work, it appears a strange problem, that until now I couldn't solve: randomly all external calls go down.
    I can't address this problem, since gateways (all cisco 2811 routers) are the same and with same configuration as yesterday.
    All thing that I can think is that router that seems to cause the problem is configured not with mgcp by cucm, but with h323 route inside the router.
    Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Daniele

    GW says normal call clearing.
    But, maybe I've addressed the problem.
    I've found a bug fixed into latest cucm release (8.6(2a)SU1) that say "h.323 calls improperly disconnected".
    So I'm trying to upgrade from 8.6(2a) to 8.6(2a)SU1, but process fails :-(
    I've tried from a dvd and also loading iso image from sftp, but after few minutes appears an error

  • ASA Migration Problems

    Hi,
    I'm trying to migrate a configuration of an ASA 5520(Version: ASA 8.0(5)) to an ASA 5585 (Version: 8.4(2)). I keep getting some errors which are included below. I've been struggling with these for some copule of weeks and read the documentation on cisco.com (
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa83/upgrading/migrating.html) and also some pages on this forum. Some lines are written in bold of which I wasn't able to find any information about. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Ummm,
    Did you possibly try the default username/password combination? (cisco/cisco) It should then prompt you to change these settings once you gain access. I'm not familiar with how the migration works, if it transitions the user accounts over or you end up starting from scratch. Give that a try and hopefully it gets you into your new system.

    Hi timo,
    reviewing all my application code, I don't found a class that use javax.faces.el.VariableResolver, the JSFUtils.java class that I Use is:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JSFUtils.java ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    import java.util.Iterator;
    import java.util.Locale;
    import java.util.Map;
    import java.util.MissingResourceException;
    import java.util.ResourceBundle;
    import javax.el.ELContext;
    import javax.el.ExpressionFactory;
    import javax.el.MethodExpression;
    import javax.el.ValueExpression;
    import javax.faces.application.Application;
    import javax.faces.application.FacesMessage;
    import javax.faces.component.UIComponent;
    import javax.faces.component.UIViewRoot;
    import javax.faces.context.ExternalContext;
    import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;

    public static Object resolveExpression(String expression) {
    FacesContext facesContext = getFacesContext();
    Application app = facesContext.getApplication();
    ExpressionFactory elFactory = app.getExpressionFactory();
    ELContext elContext = facesContext.getELContext();
    ValueExpression valueExp =
    elFactory.createValueExpression(elContext, expression,
    Object.class);
    return valueExp.getValue(elContext);

    ExternalContext ectx = facesContext.getExternalContext();
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest)ectx.getRequest();
    return request.getUserPrincipal().getName();
    I don't know why get the error "Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.el.VariableResolver" when I not used this class in the application. Maybe this class could be hidden in other file ??

  • 10g to 11g migration - problem with JhsCollectionModel

    I'm trying to migrate a JHS app from Jdev 10.1.3.4 to 11.1.1.2. The only thing worthy of note about the app is that it uses Custom authentication and authorization. Steps I went thru are below. Note that I haven't installed the latest release posted today.
    In Jdev 10.1.3.4:
    Create a new app with only one entity/VO.
    Enable JHS, do app definition with no changes other than selecting Custom authentication and authorization. Run app generator.
    Validate app runs successfully.
    In Jdev 11.1.1.2:
    Open app.
    Use ADF migration wizard as is - no changing of any defaults.
    Get migration successful messages. There were some errors about the .vm templates and some warnings but nothing significant.
    Reenable JHs for this project, select Overwrite for all and answer yes to question Do you want to migrate the Application Structure file from version 10.1.3 to 11.1.1?
    Run application generator with below result.
    Error: Unable to find the jar file on the source or class path...\path\jhsadfrt-11.1.1.jar....Would you like to add? Answered yes
    Get one error: JAG-00149 [ TamJhsModule ] Main Controller Config file cannot be named faces-config.xml.
    Modified application definition and changed name for faces-config.xml file
    Run application generator again. This time it finishes successfully - just a couple of warnings about the optimistic locking mode and menu model file not being generated.
    Make all and get one error:
    Error(19,8): com.guideworks.tv.model.client.TamJhsModuleClient is not abstract and does not override abstract method applyBindParams(java.lang.String,java.util.HashMap,java.lang.Boolean) in oracle.jheadstart.model.adfbc.v2.JhsApplicationModule
    Fix error by adding an empty override method for the applyBindParams
    Make all with no errors.
    Try to run application and get errors (after dashed line below). Cause appears to be missing class.
    Caused By: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.bean.JhsCollectionModel
    Looking in jhsadfrt-11.1.1.jar, I see that the class doesn't exist.

    Tammy,
    JhsCollectionModel no longer exists in release 11. It is replaced by the TableBean class.
    If you generate your application with the default templates, there should be no reference to JhsCollectionModel anymore.
    May be you are using a custom template that uses a managed bean that still references this class?
    If you search your ViewController project for JhsCollectionModel, what entries do you find?

  • ADF/Swing/JClient application migration problem from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3

    Hi,
    I am migrating an application from JDev 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3 in order to deploy it to a java 1.6 JVM which is only certified with JDev 11.1.1.3
    No matter what I do the DataBindings.cpx file content is emptied by the IDE, the migration was successful => no errors displayed.
    I tried to solve the problem by doing the following but the file stays empty:
    1) the removing the project from the application and adding it again, migration is done again => FILE EMPTY
    2) adding manually the content in the source file then running XML validation => no errors, I close the file, reopen it and EMPTY AGAIN!
    Your is needed and will be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Fred

    Ok it seems I have resolved my problem see end of thread
    Still have following relevant question for an Oracle team member:
    Why is my <pageMap/> empty in my migrated application cpx file?
    => when I create a new ADF Swing application this tag is not empty:
    in new file:
    <pageMap>
    <page path="view.PanelPhotolabVO1" usageId="view_PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"/>
    </pageMap>
    <pageDefinitionUsages>
    <page id="view_PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"
    path="view.pageDefs.PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"/>
    in migrated file:
    <pageMap/>
    <pageDefinitionUsages>
    <page id="PanelWeventEditParamVO1UIModel"
    path="com.photoswing.view.web.PanelWeventEditParamVO1UIModel"/>
    Solution to empty migrated cpx file:
    It seems the migration utility couldn't cope with the BC4JDataControl definitions, so I edited them manually.
    Example of 10.1.3... syntax:
    <dataControlUsages>
    <BC4JDataControl Configuration="BaseTablesAMLocal"
    Package="com.xxx.model.system"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/datacontrol"
    id="BaseTablesAMDataControl"
    FactoryClass="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"
    syncMode="Immediate">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter name="FactoryClass"
    value="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"/>
    <Parameter name="SupportsFindMode" value="true"/>
    <Parameter name="Configuration" value="BaseTablesAMLocal"/>
    <Parameter name="SupportsTransactions" value="true"/>
    <Parameter name="Package" value="com.photoswing.model.system"/>
    <Parameter name="SubType" value="DCBC4J"/>
    <Parameter name="Name" value="BaseTablesAMDataControl"/>
    <Parameter name="id" value="BaseTablesAMDataControl"/>
    </Parameters>
    </BC4JDataControl>
    New syntax:
    <BC4JDataControl id="BaseTablesAMDataControl"
    Package="com.xxx.model.system"
    FactoryClass="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"
    SupportsTransactions="true" SupportsFindMode="true"
    SupportsRangesize="true" SupportsResetState="true"
    SupportsSortCollection="true"
    Configuration="BaseTablesAMLocal" syncMode="Immediate"
    ExceptionMode="Immediate"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/datacontrol"/>
    Tip:
    Do this editing outside JDev with ide closed to avoid crashing it.

    sorry i am posting it again.
    I had created the directory e:\rules32.I had set the environment using the set-environment.bat

    I tried running this command directly too.However I am still having the same problem.

    Subu,
    1. Did you create the e:\rules32 directory first?
    2. Did you try running:
    java com.bea.commerce.platform.rules.tools.RuleSetProcessorHarness
    migrate32to35 e:\rules32
    directly?
    If yes, please post the ruleset that is causing the error.
