I just wanted to make sure Jimini took a look at my

It is not a good idea to start a new thread for something
like this, Keith. I have no idea in the world what you are talking
about - and that wouldn't be the case if the original thread had
been used. Also, the original poster will not see this thread in
his email, while that would be automatic if your comment had been
appended to the thread he/she had started.
FWIW, the fact that a thread is marked "Answered" doesn't
affect your ability to add to it even after the "answer" is
checked,so if that was your reason for starting a new thread, it
isn't a factor.

What is the the tag I can use in a custom conversion publish/print template for click box text?

I have customized a conversion template to generate a storyboard but I can not find a tag to grab the text found in the click box text. I am able to grab all text captions from text boxes. HELP!

This view, with the one photo big and the thumbnail strip across the top, is what happens when you double-click a photo with "Edit in: Main Window" set in the Preferences. There should be a button visible that says either Done or Return, to exit edit mode and return you to the library. If you still see only one photo, use the size slider in the lower right corner to reduce the photo size and get more thumbnails on the page.
If, for some reason, you can't exit the edit mode, you may have a corrupt preference file. Quit iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist and move that file to the Trash. Launch iPhoto, and you should be returned to the main viewing mode. You'll have to go in the Preferences and reset them to your liking.

Change default "on success" behavior for click box?

I create a lot of pptx --> Adobe Captivate eLearnings, and as you know, when the slides are imported, they are given a click box, which when clicked, advance the user to the next slide. I want to keep the click boxes to stop the project at the end of each slide, but dont want the user to be able to interact with it. (I have a customized navigation bar) I can achieve this by changing the "on success" behavior to "no action". Question -- do i have to do this for every click box? Unfortunately, I cannot apply this to all click boxes like I can apply the timing settings, for example.

As far as I know....and hopefully someone can correct me (I would be curious for sure)... but I don't think you can change the properties of multiple click boxes across slides all at the same time. Other items like buttons and smart shapes can be visually adjusted using the Object style manager, but as far as On Success options and such...unless you select them all in a given slide, you can't. Clickboxes can't even be added to master slides unfortunately. If the clickbox can be in a common place across slides, I would delete all of the clickboxes except the first, make the necessary changes to that one, then do a ctrl+c for copy, and then just paste it into all of the remaining slides. Again, I hope there's an easier way someone can share.

It is certainly possible.
You've got to decide whether you want to try and change the functionality of JComboBox to do it, though. This may seem the most straightforward first step but may not be the most appropriate; are you really talking about a control for selecting a single item from a list? Do you need the ability to edit the selected value directly?
If you're not after these sorts of things then it may be quicker simply to create a custom component that shows a popup menu when you click a button, for example.
Getting this to look a bit like a combo box wouldn't be too hard for most look and feel implementations.
If you're sure you're really after a JComboBox for this functionality then there are various approaches that can be tried.

Click boxes that do not behave-edit or trah them?

I am getting better at doing things and note that I am creating a simulation that is categorized as "custom."
This is fine as it gives me what I want but now with more experince I am seeing two items...
1-Run from slide "n" will generate the slides but the "fade in" effect halts at 80% of total on most (but not all) occasions. Usually with a text entry box to simulate user typing input. What I discovered is the text box is active despite the fact that the tranparency is not totally done. Visual but not a bother.
Is this something to be documented to QA?
2-Click boxes are generated along the way and that is good. On review I run into situations where the click boxes "just don't work." Most of the time it is a text entry box where "type user name" then "click on the search button" to proceed. The target area is present but the button just will not advance the slide.
The solution is to ditch the auto-created click box and put one in manually.
Not a great problem but seems overkill; am I missing something about editing auto created click boxes to get them to work?

Return results from custom dialog box not visibly updating field value

I have a form with custom dialog boxes (execDialog) for data entry. The dialog box is being called from the Entry event successfully. I also have it called from the Click event. So, here's what I get:
1. On entering the field, I get the dialog box pop up, I select a value, it visibly changes the field raw value and leaves focus in the field.
2. If I exit the field and re-enter, it also works as in point 1 (as expected)
3. If, while focus is already in the field, I click in the field, I get the dialog box, as expected, but after selecting a value from the dialog, the field raw value DOES NOT VISIBLY change until I exit the field! It's kind of like the click event is working in conjunction with the Exit event. This is totally counter-intuitive for a production form that is being designed for the general populace.
Anyone had any experience with this?

it's in edit mode. It's only displaying the value interactively entered by
the user, or as a consequence of the change event. What you need to do is
force the focus off of the text box in code. You can do a little trick
where you bounce it to a tiny transparent field, which then bounds the focus
back so it doesn't look like the focus changed."
What I ended up doing was calling up the dialog box, then using setfocus with no parameters to remove focus from the field, as follows:
this.rawValue = this.dialogBoxFunction(this.rawValue); // passing current value so dialog box defaults to that value
xfa.host.setFocus();

Captivate crashes with Automatically add click boxes

Ive found a problem with captivate 2 which causes it to crash
(it always crashes on my windows vista systems, but i dont think
captivate 2 is compatible with windows vista yet).
If i put a check in the box for "automatically add click
boxes" under recording options, it will crash fairly soon after i
start recording. Captivate 1 doesnt crash at all on the same
system.
Does anyone have any ideas of what i could try? (this is a
must have option, without automatically add click boxes, it just
simply goes into demonstration mode, which i do not require)

Thanks Rick, i wasnt aware that i could add click boxes to
the captivate projects, which is a help, but unfortunately a great
deal more work (i already have to press print screen enough times
as it doesnt capture properly).
Mark, the problem is the same on all my vista systems,
whenever we run in training simulation mode, or select
'Automitically add click boxes' in a custom option. It happens on
different builds of Vista including Vista Final RTM. The graphics
cards are all using drivers certified for use with Vista RTM. Why
is it that captivate 1 works fine on Vista, but captivate 2 doesnt?
is it something to do with Flash 9 not being great with
Vista?

Need Label/Title for Click Box Button for Screen Reader

Version: Captivate 3
1) We created an online course for a government client. The next screen navigation (next/back) we used click boxes. However, when read by a screen reader it just says "click box 1", "click box 2", etc. We need it to say "back", :"next" etc.
CAN THIS BE DONE?
2) We did try a workaround with buttons by making the text a tiny font size and the same color as the background to fool the program. However, the buttons become inactive when the movie time is up. We need to buttons to stay active because if the user walks away to the restroom and comes back we don't want them to have to restart the program.
Is there any way to keep buttons active eventhough the movie is complete?

It looks like the problem is not in the Click event. The Ribbon UI is a static thing from its birth. You need to use callbacks, not to set values in the Load event like you did for any UI controls in .Net applications.
There is no need to handle the Click event of the toggleButton control for changing the label property. Instead, you need to use the callback. For example, to change the label you need to declare the getLabel attribute. And when you need to update/refresh
values you can call the
Invalidate method of the IRibbonUI interface. It invalidates the cached values for all of the controls of the Ribbon user interface, your callbacks are invoked to get new values.

Text Click box not working when using back button on playbar

I have an interstesting situation.
I have a slide that has 2 text clickboxes (Slide B)
Each text click box has an advanced action associated that controls what is displayed on the next slide (Slide C) . The click boxes and the advanced actions work just fine except for the following situation:
The learner is on Slide C and uses the 'back button' on the playbar to return to the slide where the two text click boxes are (Slide B), then the click boxes don't seem to work.
However if the learner goes back one additional slide, the slide before slide B (let's call that one slide A) and the continues from Slide A to Slide B, then the click boxes on Slide B work again.
Can't figure out why that is?
has anyone come across this issue before?

Not for native Captivate interactive objects that suffer with this limitation. There are interactive widgets such as the Infosemantics Event Handler that have preference options to Reset Success/Fail Criteria After Action.
You could download a trial version and give that a go:

Click box - advanced actions - dims images

If I have a text box, by using advanced action on slide I hide it, then on a click box I want it to show - when the hidden text box reveals itself, the image dims. Why is that? What do I have set incorrectly?

Indeed I thought I had explained that.
Each object such as an Image, Caption or whatever is generally equipped with a Fade In and Fade Out transition effect. These effects are typically half a second long. So if you pause the slide very near the end of the object display time, the pause is occurring as the transition is fading the object out of view. Thus the "dimming" occurs.
If you configure the object so no fade out occurs on the transition (Fade In only) then it doesn't matter if you pause near the end because it doesn't fade out of view. Likewise, if you adjust the timing so the Click Box pauses the slide before the transition begins to occur, the dimming won't happen either.

Captivate 7 Click box and bottons not able to open an URL on a new window

I inserted a button and a click box in CP7 to open an URL on a new window. The URL opens but in a New Tab. There is an issue that the URL cannot be opened on a NEW WINDOW, I am using IE and Chrome. Do you have any ideas about this issue and how to troubleshoot it? I tried with Safari and it works fine.

It's my understanding that all you can do is to configure the link to open in a new "whatever". Whether you get the link opening in a tab or a window is left up to the browser and how the particular user has their browser configured. For example, I use Firefox and when I look at its settings here is what I see.
I'm guessing there must be a way to force a new window, because I do see new windows appear. But I think in those cases folks are doing it by using JavaScript.

Multiple click boxes in the same page

I'm trying to include 4 click boxes in the same page in Captivate 5. The idea is when user clicks on each box, the content reveals and stays on the screen. The first click box works fine. But when click the second box, the content shows only for less than a second and then quickly moves to the next screen, and of course, there is no chance to even get to the 3rd and the 4th one. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Does this mean that the user has to click the click boxes in the order that you stagger the pauses? For example, if I'm showing a picture and instructing the user to click on any area to get more information, they could really click on any area first - however will that click box pop up if that click area was not the "first" pause in my timeline?
Also, how do I get the "success" caption text to stay on the page? I don't want it to fade so that the user can see all of the info. once they've clicked each box. I've checked to make sure that the "fade out" option is off, and I'm assuming I can't have the click boxes "display for the rest of the slide" since that would ruin the pause increments.

Click Box not working in Captivate 5

Why do simple things sometimes seem hard?? I have a click box created and set to "jump to slide x" when clicked. This is on a presentation imported from PP 2010 and using Captivate 5. When clicked in preview mode, the slide simply goes to the next screen rather than jumping to the one I want. I notice there is already a click box created automatically on every screen of the imported presentation. When I remove it, the presentation automatically goes to the next screen rather than waiting for the user to click to advance. I want it to advance by the user clicking the forward arrow in the player controls. If I leave it on screen, it seems to override my added click box. Here is what my click box settings are:

Ah ha! Yes, I do have a quiz. 17 scored questions scattered throughout the course. Do I need to move the "jump to" slide before the last question then (or somewhere else as long as it's before the last question)?
