JimP: Setting srcview in View Source -- how?

Gentlepersons,
I'm reposting this question because my previous posting on this topic had an error in it that made responding difficult.  My bad.
Run this tiny Flex app (which does absolutely nothing of interest):
     http://www.igetitmusic.com/blog/SWFs/Tweener/Tweener.swf
...and then select its "View Source" menu item (by right-clicking or command-clicking on it). Up comes the source code, which is in
     http://www.igetitmusic.com/blog/SWFs/Tweener/srcview/index.html
Coolness!
The same applet is embedded at the bottom of a blog posting here:
     http://www.igetitmusic.com/blog/2009/05/shape-of-frustration.html
... by embedding a link to exactly the same SWF as above (that is, to http://www.igetitmusic.com/blog/SWFs/Tweener/Tweener.swf).
Now, select the "View Source" menu item in the BLOG's reference to the applet.
Whoa, Nellie!  It doesn't work!  It looks for the source code in the wrong place: http://www.igetitmusic.com/blog/2009/05/srcview/index.html.
Where did that path name come from?
What algorithm is the View Source menu item using to generate the path name to its source code?
How can I override this algorithm's behavior so that embedding [swfpath]/foo.swf into [whatever]/aPage.html will cause the View Source menu item of that object look for its source at [swfpath]/srcview/index.html, not [whatever]/srcview/index.html?
Respectfully, and with sincere appreciation for any help, I am

P.S.: PLEASE DO NOT tell me that "you can generate source by checking the "View Source" checkbox in the "Export Release Build..." dialog. Clearly (this is clear, isn't it?), the problem isn't generating the source, it is finding the source at runtime.

Gentlepersons,
This turns out to be a known bug in Flex 3, which has been fixed in Flex 4 (which is still in development).
In the meantime, the workaround is to expose, in the web page in which a SWF is embedded, a separate link to that SWF's source code (labelled something like "click here for source code").
Hoping that this helps, I remain

  • How can I turn off word wrap in the View Source output?

I'm trying to extract HTML from Word and one way to do that is to save the Word file as a .htm file and then View Source in a browser and copy that. But the words are wrapped in the View Source file. I want each paragraph to be all on one line. Is there a setting for the View Source feature that will turn off word wrap?
Once I have that done and copied into a plain text editor, I will use Search>Replace to get rid of all the stuff Word puts there and just end up with the simple paragraph tags at the end of each paragraph, all on one line.

You can disable wrapping and syntax highlighting in the View menu in the Edit > View Source window.

  • JimP: Setting View Source's srcpath -- how?

    Gentlepersons,
Here's a tiny liittle Flex app:
I'd love to show you the source to this app, but I don't know how to do so. I have been pounding Google and reading books (half a dozen so far) and none of them say how to specify the path of the "View Source" menu item.  They say "Just select Project ->Export Release Build, check the View Source option, and voila! You're done!" But that is not the end of the process.  That's just the start.
    - How, *exactly*, does one place a Flex app on a given web page? Obviously, I've learned a tidbit or two about this, or I wouldn't be able to place the above app in this web page. But maybe I'm doing it wrong, and perhaps that wrongness is causing my View Source problems.
    - The app above is online at http://www.igetitmusic.com/blog/SWFs/Tweener/Tweener.swf. To get it there, I copied the entire bin-release folder to my server's SWFs folder, and renamed it after the project name ("Tweener").  Is this the right thing to do?
    - The above app's View Source menu item looks for its source code in some apparently-random place.  I say "apparently-random," because I cannot find documented anywhere the process by which this path's default is determined, and the process by which you set it to something other than the default.
The question, then, is this: What, *exactly* -- leaving out no "obvious" steps -- is the algorithm for publishing a Flex application to the Web, such that its View Source menu item works?
The meta-question is, where is this algorithm documented? I suspect that this as-yet unread tome will hold the key to answering many other similar questions that have been bugging me.
Overall, I am really enjoying the process of learning Flex. It's this "obvious" stuff that's tripping me up (and thereby bugging the crap outa me)...

How do I set a particular view in the Studio record browser for a particular user?

Thank you for your reply. However, I could not get Templates to work correctly for me.  Following your instructions, I opened my document, opened Page Setup, set the printer, paper size, orientation, and printed a copy to make sure it was right. Then I re-opened Page Setup to verify that the settings were still correct. Then I saved the document as a Template. Then I found my template in Pages, opened the template, and tried to print. The first thing I noticed was that the template did not remember my printer. Then I set the printer, and printed, but I found that the template also did not remember the page size or the document orientation. So, did I miss a step here? Lion 10.7.5 and Mac Mini.

"I would like to know how to set the default view for the columns that are shown in iTunes. Every time I open it, I have to either go to the options, or right-click to get the pop-up options, and delete "rating" and add "composer." I'd really like to just do it once and be done with it."  Somewhere I read you could do this by clicking on the Music icon under LIBRARY then arramge the columns.  Trouble is, I can't find a Musi Folder or icon in my user library.
Any help would be appreiated.  OSX 10.9.2  iTunes version 11.1.5  Thanks!!! CW!

From the iTunes menu bar try View>Show View Options.  Make sure what you want to see is checked and what you don't is unchecked.  You can do this (may need to do this) for any playlists, your main Library, etc.
    Good luck

Images appear fine in Photoshop cs6 and cc, but print too dark, and also show too dark in Windows picture viewer. How can I correct this? Is this a Photoshop setting issue or what?

Ok, look at your files in Photoshop. What is the profile assigned to them? You can find this out by going to the Status bar at the bottom, clicking on the right-pointing triangle and choosing document Profile from the list.
Then in Windows, go to your Control Panel > Color Management and add sRGB (if it isn't there) and select it as your default profile.
    I hope that will work.

  • How to set IE compatibility view programmatically in Browser Helper Object?

Goal: In IE11, I need to set "IE=EmulateIE7" compatibility view for particular websites.
Adding an HTML meta header or a HTTP response header is not an option as we do not control the websites. Configuring IE (Tools > Compatibility View settings...) is not fine-grained enough as it truncates the website URL to the second and top level domains.
My approach is to achieve the same but more fine-grained with the help of a Browser Helper Object (BHO). Is this possible at all?
I created a C# Hello World BHO according to an online sample. It works in IE9. I haven't tested it in IE11 yet. Now I need to add some flesh to the bone. My idea is to register with the appropriate WebBrowser event, check the URL being retrieved, and then
set a WebBrowser property to turn on compatibility view if necessary.
    Is this feasible?
Which WebBrowser event would that be? DownloadBegin or DownloadEnd? Other?
    pure guess: WebBrowser.PutProperty("X-UA-Compatible", "IE=EmulateIE7")?
Any ideas to cut down my trial-and-error space? Thanks a lot!
PS: I (prematurely?) posted this question last night on stackoverflow.com.

The compatibility list is more about developer and user preference and Microsoft tends to not provide API to override preferences.
If the user accepts launching a separate window to render the content in some alternative browser (pretty much like viewing source in Notepad) you can modify the browser emulation registry value before launching your own webbrowser control based application.

  • How do I  set the default view size when I open a word.doc from mail

I use the mail program all day long and open MS Word docs and the size is default of 100% but the actually view of the screen make it look like a font of 7 or 8
I have a difficult time even viewing the document until I blow it up to 150%. It's not because I'm blind I have excellent vision..
HOW DO I SET THE DEFAULT VIEW OF DOCUMENTS

This document can help you set the print settings for any type of printing. Not just for photos as the title suggests. You should not have to keep setting it every time.

  • In mini bridge how do I set the default view to the filmstrip?

    Hello,
In mini bridge how do I set the default view to the filmstrip?
    Thank you.

Mark, there's a very basic .NET method on every nullable object:
    GetValueOrDefault
EDIT: Now I see...please avoid duplicating
    questions...
    To be clear:
Put GetValueOrDefault on every nullable field used inside your 'TotalDue_Compute' sub
You don't need to define 'TotalDue' as Nullable anymore

  • How can I view source on an app (preferably before installing)?

An app for Firefox OS is programmed in HTML and JavaScript. So, just like a webpage, I should be able to View Source, right? That's always been the empowering Mozilla approach, as far as I understand. View Source is great for learning by example (just like how I originally learnt HTML!), but also for open audit. Ideally I'd like the opportunity to look over the code before I agree to install.
If I go to https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/astroalpaca using my desktop browser, or if I find it in Marketplace using my ZTE Open, I can't see a View Source option anywhere. Where is it please?
I can understand not showing it on a small phone screen, but there's no reason why someone visiting Marketplace with a laptop/desktop web browser shouldn't download and inspect the app package.
If it doesn't exist (I'm starting to suspect this is the case), then where's my empowerment? What makes these fxos apps any less of an impenetrable consumer black box than android apps?

Wow OK. So for future reference, "View Source" (Ctrl+u) doesn't do it, since I guess the button comes from JS. So instead you need to:
    * Open the inspector (Ctrl+shift+c)
    * Click on the install button (to inspect it, not to install it).
    * In the panel you get to see the source code for the button which includes the URL to the .webapp file (it might be hosted separately as in the example, or on the marketplace)
    * You can copy and paste that URL and then open that file to see where the app content is delivered from, and then if you follow those paths you can view the HTML, JS etc.
So that's really quite buried, but I'm glad that at least it's technically possible! Not quite as easy as Ctrl-U ;)

  • LMS 3.2 - LMS Portal -- How to set 'My Portal' View as Default-View?

    Hi all,
LMS Portal comes up with three default views (My Portal, CiscoWorks Portal, LMS).
As within My Portal it is possible to change layout and sorting, I would like to set this view as
the default view comming up at login.
    How can this be configured?
    Actually LMS View comes up.
    Thanks for any feedback

You have to add the portlet Ciscoworks Admin to your portal
With this portlet you can set the default view
Add portlet -> Ciscoworks -> Other -> Ciscoworks Admin
