JInitiator and OC4J Instance

HI Gentlemen,
On my 9i DB, 9i DS when I uninstalled JInitiator 1.3.9 through the Control Panel, I could start OC4J Instance (JInitiator was automatically installed when I typed "Yes"). However, when I shut down OC4J Instance, exited from XP and then tried to start OC4J Instance anew, I got the address in use error--JVM_Bind. Uninstalling JVM again did not help.
Please drop a few lines to me, it is an existing medical application that I can not start now--it is very serious a problem.
Thank you very much, kind regards from
Miklos HERBOLY

... forget the part about the classpath.
try and request http:// servername:port/forms90/java/f90all_jinit.jar
If this doesn't start the download of f90all_jinit.jar, then there is something wrong with the configuration. If it downloads, please follows the rest of Ahmed's suggestion.

  • One Oracle Application Server and multiple OC4J Instances

While we are getting new server (for development) we have to set-up a Development and Production enviroment for our project (dont have previous OAS installation) but on the same machine.
So, is a good option to have One OAS INstallation (Ora Home) and then create multiple OC4J instances, one for each environment (Development, QA and Production)?, is it possible? How to manage deployments between OC4J instances, simulating different contexts if they are in the same server and under the same HTTP Server? Will be there conflicts?

    Hi,
you can do this and OracleAs will manage the different instances. The deployment can be done with Enterprise Manager in which case you select the OC4J instance first before deploying. If deploying from JDeveloper, you can specify the OC4J instance when creating the named connection

  • How to create new OC4J instance in AS 10.1.3 with BC4J- and ADF-Libraries

    Hi
I have done all the steps mentioned in this thread:
How to create new OC4J instance in AS 10.1.3
However, the new created OC4J instance obviously misses some libraries. If I deploy my Application to this OC4J I get an internal error: Class not found: oracle.jbo.JboException.
The same Application runs well in the "home" Instance.
What is the trick, to create a new OC4J instance, which more or less behaves the same way as the "home" instances (and especially has all the same libraries)?
    Thanks for your help

I encountered this last month. I definitely agree that it is a glaring omission to not have "Create Like" functionality when instantiating new containers. Here's my notes on the manual steps required after using createinstance to create the fresh container. Not too bad. I've been deploying ADF applications to the new container with no problems after this.
    ==============
The default (home) OC4J container is pre-configured for ADF 10.1.3 applications; however, when $ORACLE_HOME/bin/createinstance is used to create additional containers, these containers are not configured automatically to host ADF 10.1.3 applications.
    I followed these manual steps:
    1. $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/server.xml defines three shared libraries that "install" the needed JARs for Oracle ADF applications in your application server instance (container). Note that "install" does not necessarily mean available to applications (see Step 2). Copy the three shared library element definitions to the <application-server> element of your new container (in server.xml).

    2. To make the necessary ADF and JSF support libraries available to your deployed ADF application, the default application (that your ADF application and the majority of applications should inherit from) should explicitly import the shared library in the <orion-application> element of $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/<your container>/config/application.xml.

  • Single SOA Suite Install with multiple oc4j instances and java processes

We right now have 5 BPEL processes and 5 ESB processes all running under one java.exe process. We would like to seperate some of
them out into their own java.exe processes without having to install more
%ORACLE_HOME% instances of SOA Suite. I can create an oc4j instance but of
course it doesn't have any SOA Suite stuff deployed to it. I tried to see what
the install would do with this new oc4j instance but it wants to create a new
%ORACLE_HOME% with an entire installation of SOA Suite.
Is there some sort of way to clone oc4j instances that have SOA Suite deployed to them so that you
    don't need multiple %ORACLE_HOME% instances?
    ### How is this Issue Impacting Your Business ###
We really don't want to have a lot of %ORACLE_HOME% instances to have to maintain. We are
migrating projects over from our current integration server product and we'll
have potentially dozens more BPEL and ESB projects. We definitely want to
group and isolate projects so that outages of one project do not bring down
    others that are unrelated.
We are currently experiencing periodic problems with one BPEL project that requires recycling but all the other BPEL and ESB
projects get recycled also. If we could put this project into it's own java
process without creating another SOA SUITE instance, it would be a big
    help.
    ANSWER
    =======
You can create multiple domains in BPEL or create multiple systems/groups in ESB to group different projects.
    MY REPLY:
    =========
We have been using systems/groups in ESB but they all run under the save java.exe process. I would assume that having a seperate domain in BPEL would also run in that same java.exe process.
Right now, the one BPEL project we have a problem with will gobble up all the JDBC connections from time to time and that requires a recycle of SOA Suite, which means all BPEL and ESB projects that run in that java.exe process get recycled also. We're working that issue in a different ticket.
It would be nice if the SOA Suite installation would install against a new oc4j instance and not assume it has to create a complete %ORACLE_HOME% instance. The components of SOA Suite seem to be J2EE based components.
Scenario: I already have an oc4j instance called oc4j_soa and a complete %ORACLE_HOME% installation of soa suite. I then create a new oc4j instance from Enterprise Manager. Then I would deploy the esb-dt, esb-rt, orabpel, etc. components of SOA Suite to that new oc4j instance and modify the necessary config file so that it can work with OHS and the SOA Suite Databases. Is this possible?
Does anyone have any experience with this or do people typically install multiple complete installation of SOA Suite with mulitple Oracle Homes?

    Hi,
yes, on metalink you get in touch with real experts....
You have to install serveral application servers to get different ORACLE_HOMEs.
For each one, you can install a BPEL PM.
But: For each BPEL PM you need your own database instance, or you have to configure them as a clustered BPEL installation.... (but i do not know if this work with non RAC DBs)

  • Address already in use for oc4j-instance: unable to run a form

    Hi,
I've an error starting the oc4j-instance of forms.
it says: address already in use JVM-bind.
i changed the port number to 8888 (it was 8889) in the devsuit/config/default-web-site.xml.
running for the first time a form JInitiator was installed, applictaion server installation succesfull, but i see only a grey screen (in stead of my form).
i changed the prot number to 8889 again.
    how to solve?
by the way, how to combine all oc4j instances into one?
(I have one for forms, one for reports, one for mapviewer and one for BIPublisher)
    Leo

Thank you so much for your help.
It works when I remove the http://%%20" from address in Internet Explorer. But it doesn't work in preference-&gt;runtime. No matter what address I typed, FormBuilder added http://%%20" in front of the address automatically. I don't know what else I need to change to avoid this problem.
    Thank you.

    2. when i try to install the oracle developer suite 10g, i try to execute the jinit.exe

Thanks for you reading, and if have any idea please reply it.
    K.K

    Dear Mark
    Thank for your replied.
I have the privileges to do the install.
After i click the jinit.exe, it show the extracting files ... window.
after the extracting file process, the window been closed automatically.
by the way, if i modify the value the version of JInitiator in the formsweb.cfg, l
    ike 1.3.1.17 => 1.3.1.18 show i replace the jinit.exe file in
    the /ora10g_home/jinit ?
It default is for 1.3.1.17, because i can't install that successful,
so i modify the related value in the formsweb.cfg,
but i didn't replace the jinit.exe file for that .
That will it effect the oc4j work on forms running time process?

  • To change the JDBC driver for a single OC4J instance

    Hello,
I implemeted an app with oracle adf (Jdeveloper 10.1.2 ) and it use Oracle Domain objects.
I have an oas 10g (9.04.1) in windows
and I want to change the default jdbc driver for a single oc4j instance
in metalink i found the following information:
1.- From OTN, download and copy the 10.1.0.x JDBC driver to a directory on the server. E.g OH/newjdbc
2.- Opening EM-Website, navigate to the OC4J instance that should be altered.
3.- Find the "Java-Options" and, add the -Xbootclasspath option to it, pointing to the new JDBC driver.
    E.g. -Xbootclasspath/p:$OH/newjdbc/ojdbc14.jar
    4.- Restart the OC4J instance
    my 'Java-optios' default is
    -server -Xrs -Djava.security.policy=C:\oracle\904\j2ee\test_adf\config\java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true
my new 'Java optios' now is
    -server -Xrs -Djava.security.policy=C:\oracle\904\j2ee\test_adf\config\java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Xbootclasspath/p = D:\jdev1012\jdbc\lib\classes12.jar
    is this correct?
now I cannot deploy my app
    Rigoberto

Seems you missed something in step 3. From those steps the driver should be installed under C:\oracle\904\newjdbc and used in classpath, not d:\jdev1012.

  • EJB 3.0 Cache Issue With OC4J Instance With Multiple JVM's

I created an EJB 3.0 project in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and everything works fine in the embedded OC4J server. I am deploying the application to an OC4J instance consisting of 3 Java Virtual Machines in Oracle Application server 10.1.3 and seem to be getting a different persistence context for each virtual machine. i.e. I'll have 3 browsers that can view the same data even after updating, another 2 browsers that can't see the first 3's changes but can see changes by any browser in this group, etc.
I tried adding the below to the persistence-unit tag in the persistence.xml but it didn't seem to help.
    <properties>
    <property name="toplink.cache.shared.default" value="true"/>
    </properties>
How do you get all connections to use the same cache?

here is the code for my bean.

  • OC4J 10.1.3.0.0 :: How to create a Parent OC4J Instance ?

    Hi,
I have an Oracle Application Server Instance on a Windows System :-
    D:\OraAppServer1\j2ee\home>ver
    Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]
    D:\OraAppServer1\j2ee\home>java -jar oc4j.jar -version
Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.0.0)  (build 060119.1546.05277)I have created two OC4J Instances & the hierarchy is as follows :-
    home
    |
    |
    |-------OC4J_SS1
    |
    |-------OC4J_SS2Now, I am trying to create an additional OC4J instance that can act as the parent instance for the two OC4J isntances. I am trying to setup a hieararchy that looks like this :-
    home
    |
    |
    |-------OC4J_SS
                  |
                  |-------OC4J_SS1
                  |
                  |-------OC4J_SS2The reason for this setup is to have a Parent JNDI NameSpace that the Child Instances can access. We are trying to setup JMS Queues ( File / Memory based Persistence ) & the applications in both the instances ( MDBs ) will be listening to the same Queues.
We are trying to setup the Queues in the Parent OC4J ( OC4J_SS ) so that the applications in OC4J_SS1 and OC4J_SS2 can access the Queues.
We noticed that the createInstance command does not have the facility to specify the parent - all the OC4J Instances seem to inherit from the default home instance.
    D:\OraAppServer2\opmn\bin>createinstance -?
    Error: Unknown argument: -?
    Usage:
    createinstance <arguments>
    where arguments are:
-instanceName <name> :Name of new instance to be created.
      -port <http port>    :(optional)User specified HTTP port.
Required in J2EE Server and Process Management
                            install type only.
-startASControl      :(optional)Start the Application Server Control
                            when starting this new instance.
-ASControlIsRoutable :(optional)Make the Application Server Control
routable when started. We do not want to play with the home instance - instead, we want to deploy our solutions in our own OC4Js.
Can you please guide us in this solution ?
Please do let me know if I need to include any other information.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi Steve,
Thanks again - I was able to create a Group & put the OC4J instances that I need as a Group.
    It's a very useful feature.
Now, when I check the Administration page for the Group,
I notice that I can " Create/delete/view _____________ for the instances in this group."
I do not want to replicate the JNDI Connection settings for every instance in my Group
( the # could easily bloat up to 5 / 6 in the future ).
I am trying to create a common JNDI Lookup Service that will be available to both the OC4J Instances.
    It's something like this:-
    |          |
    |   OC4J_SS1     |
    |          |
    |          |
         |
         |
         |
         V
    |          |------> jdbc / xxxxx
    |   Group JNDI  |------> jms  / xxxxx ( especially, file based Queues )
    |   Bindings     |
    |          |
         ^
         |
         |
         |
    |          |
    |   OC4J_SS2     |
    |          |
    |          |
----------------Is this possible in OC4J ? Or, do I need to use a heavy duty product like the
Oracle Internet Directory to achieve this ?
Can you once again post some Documents / WhitePapers that discuss this ?
    Regards,
    Sandeep

An error occured while undeploying the application. An exception has occurred while manipulating the DCM repository

    Resolution:
    Base Exception:

And following while creating a new OC4J instance:
An exception has occurred while manipulating the DCM repository

According to google the OALL8 has something to do with the JDBC driver.
    Thanks in advance,
    Koen Verhulst

Are you doing this using the EM GUI? Or using dcmctl?
Either way, I'd try to remove the lk file that you had (no idea why that file was around - did you do multiple installs on the same box?)
    and then retry the operation.

  • Javascript error when creating a new OC4J instance?

    Hi
Im trying to deploy the documentum portlet, and a requirement was to install Ant, Java SDK....and i did
after that...on my Application server machine (the portal), when i login to the enterprise manager to start a new OC4j instance, my browser shows a script error in the status bar in IE 6.0.
it says: Object expected, ....and whenever i click "Create OC4j instance" the page is scrolled up to the top part of the page. so there is some kind of javascript error. how can i fix this? its stopping me from my development process.
    Your help is appreciated. thanks
    Faisal[b]

On Windows this is caused most often by the temporary directory setting.
Change the temporary directory to some fixed directory writable by anybody, e.g. "C:\temp".
    Change this in:
    Registry entry: hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\key_<oashome>\REPORTS_TMP
<oashome>\opmn\conf\opmn.xml: search for environment variable TEMP (under ias-instance)
    Good luck!

  • Unable to deploy a simple WAR / EAR file on Standalone OC4J instance

    All,
This issue is baffling me since yesterday and while I continue to look for options , would appreciate if anyone of you has run into something similar and give me some hints on how to proceed on this ..
I downloaded the Standalone OC4J ( 10.1.3 ) from otn.oracle.com and also downloaded JDK 1.5 Update 12 from the Sun Website and installed it on my local
Windows XP machine. Everything works well and the application gets deployed.
I then copied the 10.1.3 Standalone OC4J to the Solaris 5.9 box which already
has JDK 1.5 Update 12 installed. We extracted the OC4J to its own directory , set the Java_Home and the Oracle_Home environment variables and were able to
    startup the OC4J instance.
However when trying to deploy even a simple HelloWorld.jsp file packaged as an EAR or WAR , we get these errors..

Using the above error messages , I certainly do not find the CISS.ear file getting copied to /home/aplperdev1/ssp_java/oc4j/j2ee/home/applications/CISS.ear
which explains the rest of the messages.
I have tried placing the EAR file both remote and local on the Application Server box but the results remain the same. Assuming it might be a permissions issue , we have opened up all the permissions on this OC4J home ( recursively )
    to everyone ..
Is there a specific version of tar / unzip / jar required to deploy EARs / WARs on Solaris 5.9 running JDK 1.5 Update 12.
We had some issues when extracting OC4J to its directory but there were no errors displayed on the screen ... Only when we tried starting up the OC4J instance , it started complaining about missing XML files .. This was resolved by manually extracting the XML's from the corresponding jars and placing them in the proper directories ..
Also looked at Bug:6330834 but am not very sure if this applies to our case because all these drives are local to the Sun box.
Other than attempting a reinstall and opening an Service Request with Oracle , I am running out of ideas at this time ..
So any ideas / hints would be gladly accepted :)
    Vishwa

    When you say:
I then copied the 10.1.3 Standalone OC4J to the Solaris 5.9 box which already has JDK 1.5 Update 12 installed. We extracted the OC4J to its own directory , set the Java_Home and the Oracle_Home environment variables and were able to
    startup the OC4J instance.
We had some issues when extracting OC4J to its directory but there were no errors displayed on the screen ... Only when we tried starting up the OC4J instance , it started complaining about missing XML files .. This was resolved by manually extracting the XML's from the corresponding jars and placing them in the proper directories ..
It sounds like you have some funky issues there with those missing XML files -- that is not expected or normal.
Do you mean you copied the same oc4j_extended.zip to the server and unzipped it, or you zipped up the directories you were using on the Windows box, copied that over, and unzipped it?
I don't know of any problems with Solaris, JDK5, U12.
What about if you do this to remove any issues with the remote copy aspect of the deployment.
    1. Stop OC4J.
    2. Manually copy CISS.ear to /home/aplperdev1/ssp_java/oc4j/j2ee/home/applications/
    3. Edit the j2ee/home/config/server.xml file and add the entry to deploy the application
    4. Edit the j2ee/home/config/default-web-site.xml and bind any web-modules you need.
    5. Start the server and see what happens -- the application should be deployed.
Also, what happens if you use the $JAVA_HOME/bin/jar to try and view the contents of the CISS.ear file?
