JInitiator installation

Hi,
Could anybody tell me where must be JInitiator installed and how this can be done? Must be JInitiator installed on the server too? Is this only for Windows client or for Linux too?
I use Netscape to log to the APPS. And looks like I have to install a plug-in (JInitiator I think) I receive the message "Click here to download plug-in" but if I click nothing happend (I just receive the message "No suitable plugins were found") (this is on the client).
Thanks,
Paul

You do not need to install Jinitiator on the server, just install it on the client (Windows OS).
To access the application from Windows client with IE browser, add the application URL to the list of the trusted sites, have a proper entry in the hosts files and try to access it. The first time you access the application it will prompt you to download/install Jinitiator.
To access the application from Linux client please check the following thread, it should be helpful:
Execute Oracle Applications 11i with Firefox 1.5 on Linux

  • How to stop Jinitiator installation for ebusiness suite application

Right now every time I try to log into ebusiness suite, I will be prompted to install Jinitiator for the first time and if I install I will not be prompted from next time onwards, My requirement is to stop prompting even for the firs time.
we are planning to go live with Employee self service and we do not want employees to be dealing with any installations since self service application does not need jinitiator.
which configuration file/profile I have to change?
    we are on 11.5.10.2 apps version.IE 7.
    Thanks

    Thanks for all your time.
    Hussein
you made a good point , I should not stop this but in my case 95% self service users and 5% forms users , so we are going other direction until we figure out a way to stop Jinitiator installation launch based on what responsibilities a user have (self sevice or self service+ forms...).
I tryed to cancel the installation multiple times it comes back again and again.
    Srini
its custom SS resp. I have setup user who just have one self service resp. but still launches Jinitiator installation.
    Prasanna
no thats not how it is working, I have tested this (logged in as a user who just have custom self service responsibilities, still the Jinitiator installation starts up on log in and as I click on any link inside the responsibility).Even if I cancel first time it comes back again and again.
    Thanks

  • JInitiator Installation for User in Forms6i/Forms9i

    Hi!
I am facing a problem regarding JInitiator. Would be thankful if some body helps me out.
When an application developed in Forms 6i./Forms9i is launched (and hosted through Oracle Application Server 9i Rel 1/Rel2) by a user having administrative rights in Windows 2000/xp/2003 , JInititor installation starts while if an ordinary user acceess the application installation does not start and hence application cant be viewd by an ordinar user.
How to make an ordinary user access application and install JInitiator (without giving him Adminjistrative rights).
    Thanks in advance.
    Imran

This should generate a logfile , what does it say.
    Who install jnit.
Admin or the the person who is currently logged in,
    is this on windows domain.
Look for folders C:\programfile\oracle\ and see who has what permission. The user does not have rights to Modify grant him the privs.
Look for c:\windows\system32, user cannot read msvcrt.dll, grant him access. Restart the machine and it should work.
Better will be to create a new user_group IN AD with proper user rights so that you dont have to do this on every machine.

  • Problem with JInitiator!!! - Urgent

I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server with 4GB RAM and Oracle9iASR2. I'm running Forms&Reports9i services quite well. Now, I have a demand for using OLE integration and for WebUtil purpose I have to install Jinitiator 1.3.1.13, for instance. But when I start a Jinitiator installation, I just see an error message 111 which is telling me that I don't have enough memory, that I must release memory by killing some running application (no matters which one) and then repeat the installation procedure. At that moment I have about 3.8 GB free memory, at least! It's the same problem with some differrent version of Jinitiator. What's the problem? How can I bypass this? Please, help me, this is very urgent!
    Dejan

Did you try a reboot of the client?
Also, can you post a full error message , it sounds like this is coming from Windows...

  • JInitiator 1.3.1.22 vs. 1.3.1.18: Are they completly separate installed ?

Actual situation: We have several huge forms-applications running with JINItiator 1.3.1.18. No problem.
Now we have one new forms-application developed, which runs on Forms 10g Rel. 2 with JInitiator 1.3.1.22. Some PC's now need the 1.3.1.22-installation parallel to their 1.3.1.18 installation.
In our test-environment the guys found out, that the JInitiator-Installation will change registry-keys for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\javaw.Exe and some other keys.
They fear, that installing 1.3.1.22 on a PC where 1.3.1.18 is running changes permanently the destination for "javaw.exe". That may be no problem, but the test-guys say: "You have to test the whole big old application on 1.3.1.18, before we install 1.3.1.22"
What should we do? We have to use 1.3.1.22 for our little application and we have no time to check, if the old application with 1.3.1.18 is running as before...
    Any ideas ?

You can run as many Jinits on the same machine as your hard drive can hold as long as they are versions 1.3.1.10 or newer. Only the one which is called in the CLSID or mime type (of the html) will be used.
Also, javaw is not called when running applets.
You can prove all of this with SysInternals FileMon:
    http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html
However, as already mentioned, you will not be able to run multiple versions from within an existing browser session. This will cause the browser to crash.

  • Webform Doesn't Work after Update JInitiator

I have a Windows NT 4.0 with SP6a box which has the 9iAS 1.0.2.1 installed. The Form Server works well but the JInitator is 1.1.8.7 - too old in version. So that I upgrade the JInitiator to 1.3.1.9. After upgrading, the Form Server doesn't work but resume normal when back to 1.1.8.7.
    What I have done are:
    (1) Copy the new Jinit1319.exe into 'd:\oracle\806\jinit\' and rename it as jinit.exe.
    (2) Modify the related entries for Jinitiator in the configuration file 'd:\oracle\806\forms60\server\formsweb.cfg' to reflect the version change.
When the client machine browses the webform, there is the prompt for JInitiator installation. The installation completes good. But the browser continues to download the page and showing nothing - just the gray background.
Everything works normal when I resume back JInitiator back to 1.1.8.7. Please advise where the problem is and how to fix it, much thanks.

  • Proble with browser or jinitiator

i m using Oracle 10g for Forms and Reports Develpment and i have Windows XP SP2 OS and 2GB RAM
i m designing and developing the oracle forms and when i want to see the output the IE 7 and Mozilla both are not showing the output and not any kind of message i am getting from this.
I have Java and Jinitiator 1.3
so what i should do now n how to see my output of forms
    plz suggest me
    my mail id is
    [email protected]

Is the browser just crashing and disappearing?
If so, it looks like it fails horribly when starting up the java virtual machine (either JInitiator or Sun JVM).
Try to access the test form that ships with Oracle Forms:
    http://server.example.com:port/forms/frmservlet
    Then also try to access
    http://server.example.com:port/forms/frmservlet?config=jpi
to force the use of Sun JVM over JInitiator.
Could be that the JVM and/or JInitiator installation is messed up. You could try reinstalling them and while you're at it, please also test these URLs from another workstation

I have installed oracle database 10g and application suite. i have created on application. it opens fine with http://my_comp_ip:8889/forms/frmservlet, but when i open it with another computer through IE, oracle Jinitiator installs but after that nothing happens, it hangs out and in mozilla again oracle jinitiator installs but nothing displayes out and "done" comes out on bottom of page.
    pl do needful

JINIT will do this if your JINIT version does not match the version in your formsweb.cfg.
    For example:
    # Parameter related to the version of JInitiator
    jinit_classid=clsid:CAFECAFE-0013-0001-0026-ABCDEFABCDEF
    # Parameter related to the version of JInitiator
    jinit_exename=jinit.exe#Version=1,3,1,26
    # Parameter related to the version of JInitiator
    jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.26
These settings are looking for JINIT 1.3.1.26, but if your jinit.exe in your download directory is different it will always download and never work. Check your control
panel on your client for versions and then compare.

  • Problems with loading forms

    Hi,
I work on a system which is used throughout a large department. The system connects workstations to a machine which is running the OC4J instance to serve forms.
In the most, forms run fine on every machine. There is, however, one machine which runs the forms from a link to the address but if this address is then stored in Internet Explorers favorites it will fail to load.
Additionally, there is another machine which will not run forms at all. JInitiator is configured the same as every other machine, it just won't work. This machine is used for Java programming so I wonder if there is a conflict
If these things have hapened to you or you have any ideas about this it will be greatly appreciated as my boss is on at me to get them working!!
    Thanks
    Mark

for the first case, you may check if it bookmark the url that odes not contain the whole domain name. if your domain has a nic XYZ, then url like http://xyz.8888/... may have issue to launch, it needs to have complete domain name like http://xyz.oracle.com:8888/...
For second case, check the Jinitiator installation directory and that Java programming JDK location.
My PC has JDK 1.4, 1.3, 1.2 and preview JDeveleper, Tomcat installed(sure I sepepate them when I install them), my PC still can launch our forms6i CGI application with Jiniator 1.1.8.7
Hope you can get your boss off your back.
    Good luck.

  • Roles base user access

    hi gentlemen(n surely women too;)),
First.......I wanna control users procesing in forms-6i so that the users belonging a specific role can process specific commands(either thru buttons or menus), plzzz tell me that how can I do it.
Secondly, I'm trying Dev10g too, I wanna know that if I install an application in a multi-user environment, then which r the oracle tools I will have to install on a client machine to run oracle reports & forms from a web-browser.
I hope these things will not create any difficulty for u n reply me soon, take care, bye.

    Hi,
    1. Forms allows you to use database roles to secure menus. I suggest however, to create access control tables for your applications and check these tables before executing command sin Forms. So basically its a custom solution you have to build.
    2. Oracle JInitiator or teh Java Plugin 1.4. JInitiator installs itself the first time the user requets a Forms link.

  • JInitiator 1.3.1.9 installation problem

When I run the JInit1.3.1.9 installation software from my Oracle9i Developer folder (C:\OracleDev\Forms90\Server) in the XP Pro and/or from the Oracle website, I had problems as follows:
    - First, the installtion failed with the msg error "it cannot decompress and copy files... in Program Files" although I have the Admin privilege on XP Pro and no the previous versions of JInititator existed.
    - Then, I tried to download the JInit old version 1.1.8.19, WOW, this version is installed successfully without error.
    - Next, I tried to install JInit 1.3.1.9 again, This version failed again with another msg eror "Cannot find _SETUP.DLL". This version seemed depending on may things to self-install on client.
Somebody, pls advise me how to install or work around with JInit 1.3.1.9 to run Oracle9i Forms without using Oracle UN-installer.

We've had strange problems with Jinitiator 1.3.1.13, somehow it can't find some files or other when installing. Please observe that the file (even if called jinit.EXE) is a compressed archive!
The problem seemed to be certain compression tools (like WinRAR) setting an incompatible default temp dir or somesuch. What you can do as a workaround in this case is use e.g. winzip to open your jinit.exe and unpack to a location of your own choosing. Then run the installer/setup.exe from the files you just unpacked.
