Jinitiator Parameters
Hi
Apologies if this is not a new question or in the wrong thread.
We have a problem with the screen not refreshing in a program that uses Jinitiator. I need to enter a new -Dsun parameter (-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true). This works for the domain admin user, but I cannot access the Jinitiator controll panel for other domain users as they are locked out of controll panel. Is there a way either through regedit or profiles that I can apply the new parameter for all users? We have 30 domain users, so to do it one by one would be a bit of a drag.
Many Thanks
Damien

Forms Version 10.1.2.0.2 and Jinitiator
Hi Everyone, I am using the above named form Version, however, when I want to run the form via forms developer, it ask me to install Jinitiator 1.3.1.22. I already have Jinitiator 1.3.1.18, 1.3.1.21, 1.3.1.26 and 1.3.1.28 installed on the machine am using. Why is it still pointing me to 1.3.1.22 and why not use the latest version 1.3.1.28 . I found a reference to 1.3.1.22 in formsweb.cfg and I changed it to 1.3.1.28 but it did not work. I had to install 1.3.1.22 before am able to render the forms servlet through forms developer. Your advie will be greately appreciated.
Hi!
If you want to try jinitiator 1.3.1.28, open the formsweb.cfg.
Look for the jinitiator parameters, add:
#when using Jinitiator 1.3.1.28
jinit_classid=clsid:CAFECAFE-0013-0001-0028-ABCDEFABCDEF
jinit_exename=jinit13128.exe#Version=1,3,1,28
jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.28and may place a copy of the jinit13128.exe into the %forms_home%\jinit folder.
Comment out all other jinitiator parameters like:
# jinit_classid=clsid:CAFECAFE-0013-0001-0025-ABCDEFABCDEF
# jinit_exename=jinit13125.exe#Version=1,3,1,25
# jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.25

Edit JRE parameters within JInitiator 1.3.1.22 before install to client
I am running the Oracle Application Server - with users accessing the Discoverer product. To fix an Out Of Memory error it is necessary to edit the JInitiator (JRE) parameters to have -Xms256M -Xmx256M in the runtime window.
I wish to somehow have this change/line of code be added to the base software so that it downloads into the clients machines automatically at time of installation.
Any help is greatly appreciated.You can run as many Jinits on the same machine as your hard drive can hold as long as they are versions 1.3.1.10 or newer. Only the one which is called in the CLSID or mime type (of the html) will be used.
Also, javaw is not called when running applets.
You can prove all of this with SysInternals FileMon:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html
However, as already mentioned, you will not be able to run multiple versions from within an existing browser session. This will cause the browser to crash. -
FRM-92102 in Forms using Webutil with JInitiator
Hi Gurus,
I'm facing the error FRM-92102 in Forms in some clients, that's driving my crazy. The facts are:
* Oracle Application Server 10g R2 10.1.2 with Patchset 10.1.2.2.0 applied (left to apply patchset as doc 404477.1 in Metalink) on Windows 2003 Server Std. Ed. 64 bits.
* JInitiator 1.3.1.26 on all clients (Windows XP and Windows 2000)
* WebUtil 10.1.2.2
* heartBeat = 35, set in App's section of formsweb.cfg
* networkRetries = 60 in App's section of formsweb.cfg
* Modified versions of baseHTMLjinitiator(to be used with JInitiator) and baseHTMLjpi to take into account the heartBeat and networkRetries parameters.
* FORMS_TIMEOUT set to 30 in application.env
I've seen that this error happens with Windows XP clients only (with SP2 and/or SP3 applied), while in Windows 2000 with SP4 I get no error at all and the Form works and ens without any problem.
I've seen that increasing networkRetries parameter increase the likelihood of Forms to end normally, but that doesn't seem a good solution: at which value must I bring it to ?
The captured Java console of one of this errors is as follows:

Thanks in advance.Hi Michael,
I've done what the Microsoft note states and the error takes longer to appear, but it does.
I've done some netstat -an captures before using the Forms App (before the error) and after. Here are:

Formserver 6i with JInitiator 1.3.1.9
I'm using a formsserver 6i rel2 with JInitiator 1.1.7.31. I've tryed to uninstall on the client machine this JInitiator and install the version 1.3.1.9,but,when I've connected to the forms server,I've received a message for installing the version 1.1.7.31. That is my problem:how can I install this new version of JInitiator on this forms server,as I saw that the only JVM that he wants to use is this JInitiator wich is shipped with?
Does anyone knows how can I use this new version of JInitiator ,in order to take advantage of the new white paper for signig .JAR files??Have a look in your Formsweb.cfg file (assuming that you are using the servlet) you need to change the value of the parameters jinit_classid, jinit_exename and jinit_mimetype
Thsi can be done for the whole install or just in a particular config if you want to run one application using the newer JInit and the rest with 1.1.8.
The values for each version of JInitiator are documented in the readme that you get when you install. The values for 1.3.1.9 are:
jinit_classid=clsid:CAFECAFE-0013-0001-0009-ABCDEFABCDEF
jinit_exename=jinit.exe#Version=1,3,1,9
jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.9
And of course make sure your jinit_download_page parameter points at a page that gives them access to 1.3.1.9 -

JInitiator downloading instand of JRE in 11i
Dear All,
Recently i have upgraded forms version and JRE in my local instance. Up gradation was successfully completed, and Application Up and running fine.
But for some of our local user use to raise ticket regarding the Java APPLET. Users says they are not able to open any form pages in their system, when we try to fetch a form the forms server a JRE file will be downloaded to local desktop for installation, but here it not happened,, the old Jinitiator only downloading, because this the new upgraded forms not able to open by the user...
I dont understand how it is happening, because from our DBA Team all the DBA's can able to open forms from that instance, why the other local users cannot able to do the same,, and why the Jinitiator downloading instance of JRE.
Is the JRE file corrupted which i Kept in the Instance !!

Change Jinitiator 1.1.8.7
Dear All..
I tried to change JInitiator version from 1.1.8.7 into 1.1.8.16 to overcome P4 problem.
1. When I deinstall v.1.1.8.7 and install v.1.1.8.16 and try to operate the application the system still ask me to install 1.1.8.7 otherwise it halted the operation.
2. when I change the formsweb.cfg parameters with classid of v.1.1.8.16 the application show me an empty IE browser with "done" word at console, I mean the application dosn't work...
please advice me about the steps in detials..
thanks
hayderMake sure you changed the necessary settings in the HTML file that launches the application.
1) Change the classid.
2) Change the JInitiator version in the codebase.
3) Change the JInitiator version in the TYPE parameter.
4) Change the JInitiator version in the TYPE parameter in the EMBED tag.

Define location for "Oracle Jar Cache" of jinitiator
Hello,
I'd like to know is it posible to define the location of Oracle Jar Cache with some parameters like installing in silent mode....
This problems has occured because we have for users files home directory on network file server and jinitiator automaticlly put Oracle Jar Cache on file server.
For Example i'd like to have C:\Oracle Jar Cache

TtrevenIf you change the location of the jar cache via the console the location entry is written into a file in your local profile:
Directory
.jinit (for JInitiator)
.java (for Java Plug-In)
File
properties<version_of_JInitiator or Java Plug-In>.
Only modified entries are written to this file (otherwise the default is valid).
You can modify this file programmatically after installation or possibly during installation process. -

Upgradation of jinitiator from 1.1.7.31 to 1.3.1.9
Actually we are running form 6i web based application. We purchased new pentium 4 computers but on that older version of jinitiator does not work. We want to upgrade to newer version of jinitiator. What are the steps to be followed on the server so that next time client will be asked for the new version. Actually we tried a lot. We changed the class no. in f60web.cfg, also in javaversion.txt, now client is being asked for ner version of jinitiatot but while running form on client thru. IE 5.5, at the time of loading applet, it gives foll. error:-
"java.io.IOException: Could not connect to http://192.168.10.73/forms60java/f60web.jar"
what to do? pls. it is very urgent.I suggest that you'll post Oracle Forms questions to the Oracle Forms discussion forum.
Forms
Anyway, Are you able to get to the file http://192.168.10.73/forms60java/f60web.jar ?
You didn't mention if you are using the servlet based architecture, this has an effect on where to set the parameters that define which JInitator to use. -
Hi,
if I install Jinitiator 1.3.1.22 on my PC (win XP) can I connect to oracle application server with 1.3.1.18 configuration ?
Many thanks before.You can install different versions of JInitiator on your PC.
When you connect to a Forms application, the formsweb.cfg file will tell the PC's browser which version of JInitiator to load.
If that version of JInitiator is available on your PC, you will be able to run your Forms application.
If the version is not available on your PC, you may be prompted to download JInitiator from the application server. Unfortunately this will be whatever version of jInitiator.exe is installed in your middle-tiers /jinit directory. So you may not get the version required for the Forms application.
The best thing to do is to load the latest version of JInitiator on your PC, make sure the installation file jinit.exe in the middle-tier's /jinit directory is the latest version, and update all of your formsweb.cfg files to the latest version.
If you are using Enterprise Manager 10g, open your middle-tier's control page, click on the Forms link, and then click on the Configuration link. From here you can load the configuration section your Forms application uses (usually "default").
You need to update three parameters:
jinit_classid
jinit_exename
jinit_mimetype
The values for these parameters can be found on the OTN JInitiator download page for the version you will use. The latest version is 1.3.1.22.
The values for 1.3.1.22 are
jinit_classid: clsid:CAFECAFE-0013-0001-0022-ABCDEFABCDEF
jinit_exename: jinit.exe#Version=1,3,1,22
jinit_mimetype: application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.22
Good luck! -

Changing the looking like of JInitiator?
Is it possible to change the "looking like" of the Jinitiator-Applet???
for example another icon.
Also the text:
"Oracle Developer Forms Runtime - Web" is not really usefull. Also the "Oracle Developer Server"-image while loading the fmx is not usefull ... I would like to change that all.
Does anybody knows how?
... or simply tell me, that it is not possible = (you can add some parameters to your html file to control the way forms displays thing
splashScreen=NO will eliminate the splash image
webformsTitle can control the title.
you can find a list of all of them on metalink.oracle.com :

Retriving only hidden parameters from request.getParameter
Hi,
I want to retrive only the hidden parameters from previous JSP page into current JSP page. The problem here is that my hidden parameters in privious page are dynamically generated (parameter names are decided based on values retrived from the database) and I cannot retrive them using "request.getParameter(<parametername>)"
Can I find the parameter type (i.e. text box, text area, checkbox, radio or hidden) from the request.getParameter() or request.getParameterNames() methods? or is there any other way to find it.
Thanks in advance for any helpYou can use the getParameterNames() or getParameterMap() methods from javax.servlet.ServletRequest to get all the parameters in the request. Even if they're dynamically generated, and you don't know the names in advance, these methods will ferret them out.
getParameterMap() returns name String, values String [] pairs, so you'll have to work with String arrays to get the input out. It's got to be that way to accomodate checkboxes and other HTML form elements that can send more than one value for a given name.
I prefer getParameterMap, because I don't like using Enumerations as much. - MOD
