Jinitiator upgrade

Hai
i upgraded my jinitiator version from 1.3.1.21 to 1.3.1.30.i followed the steps in metalink and upgraded it successfully by running autoconig at the end.
i checked the appsweb_sid-servername.cfg .It points out to 1.3.1.30 but my problem is that when i navigate through my url and click
system administrator---->security:Define it throws the error message as "
"install new plugins to the view the page"
What has caused me not to view my applet page .i have not installed jinitiator version 1.3.1.30 at my windows.i would like to know whether it is the cause.can i install jinitiator 1.3.1.30 at my windows.will it solve the problem or should i follow some other steps.plz say me

If you have followed all of the steps correctly and they completed without errors, and if you are using IE to access the forms interface, the new JInitiator version will be automatically downloaded and installed on each client that accesses the EBS instance. Pl confirm that you are using IE and pl post the complete error message. Do you get the same error when you try accessing the form from another PC ?

  • Jinitiator too low 1.1.8.2 when upgrading to jre 1.7.0.45 - alternative solution??

    Hi all,
    There was a recent post on the above subject for which the solution was found to be as below:
    I searched and got the fix for the error -  Jinitiator too low 1.1.8.2 when upgrading to jre 1.7.0.45
    Fix:
    Put the following value in the Runtime parameter of jre 1.7.0.45  in control panel -> java 32 bit icon -> java(tab) -> view
    -Djava.vendor="Sun Microsystems Inc."
    Thereafter, I was able to access the forms/applications in a new browser.
    Question:  Isn't there any alternative solution that jre 1.7.0.45 resolves by itself without putting in the above parameter in the java(tab) -> view and allows to open the applications?
    Please share if anyone has an alternative fix to the above? Reason being we need to pass on the above information for the setup to all the business users what was found as above.
    Thank You for your time
    user10088255

    Hi,
    As far as I know that is the simplest solution you have. If not you have to match the client JRE with the Server JRE.
    But a workaround would be, If all the users are in a specific group of a domain you may follow the below link to set the environment variable for the same group:

  • Errors usnig CLIENT_OLE2 when upgrading to jinitiator 1.3.1.21

    Hi all,
    I have an application in forms 10G. When using jinitiator 1.3.1.13, i can use client_ole2 to perform several actions in excel. Due to a bug in this version (applet loses focus when performing printscreen), i want to upgrade to jinitiator 1.3.1.21.
    When i do so, the bug is solved indeed but my excel-code no longer works. This is the error i receive in the Java console:

    CLIENT_OLE2.ADD_ARG(args, 'c:\test.csv');
    workbook := CLIENT_OLE2.GET_OBJ_PROPERTY(workbooks, 'Open', args);
    END;
    Does anyone have any idea why the new version of jinitiator causes these errors?

    I got the answer on metalink. I'll post it here in case someone runs into the same problem:
    Dear Customer,
    I found some entries for your error message.
    I think you are running into
    Bug:3672010 WEBUTIL OLE FUNCTIONS FAIL WITH SUN JAVA PLUGIN 1.4.2:
    This has nothing to do with the plugin, but it could be that with the new jinitiator the problem comes up.
    Please test:
    ACTION PLAN
    ============
    1. Download the latest version of jacob.dll from Yahoo
    2. change your webutil.cfg file
    install.syslib.0.7.1=jacob.dll|94208|1.0|true
    to
    install.syslib.0.7.1=jacob.dll|94208|1.1|true
    Then, Webutil knows this dll is updated and it will be the target for

  • Upgradation of jinitiator from 1.1.7.31 to 1.3.1.9

    Actually we are running form 6i web based application. We purchased new pentium 4 computers but on that older version of jinitiator does not work. We want to upgrade to newer version of jinitiator. What are the steps to be followed on the server so that next time client will be asked for the new version. Actually we tried a lot. We changed the class no. in f60web.cfg, also in javaversion.txt, now client is being asked for ner version of jinitiatot but while running form on client thru. IE 5.5, at the time of loading applet, it gives foll. error:-
    "java.io.IOException: Could not connect to http://192.168.10.73/forms60java/f60web.jar"
    what to do? pls. it is very urgent.

    I suggest that you'll post Oracle Forms questions to the Oracle Forms discussion forum.
    Forms
    Anyway, Are you able to get to the file http://192.168.10.73/forms60java/f60web.jar ?
    You didn't mention if you are using the servlet based architecture, this has an effect on where to set the parameters that define which JInitator to use.

  • Jinitiator 1.3.1.9, need upgrade for 9iAS server?

    Hi, I am trying to setup a 9iAS test server on Windows 2000. The bundled Jinitiator 1.1.8.? Did not work with my test box but did work on the server. I downloaded Jinitiator 1.3.1.9 and it installs and runs on my client box. I have modifed the needed FORMSWEB.CFG & Jinit files and I go get the correctly configured served out page to my client but I get a java exception:
    Oracle.ewtinAWT.lwcomponet'''s signer information does not match signer info...
    I can find the referenced .class file. However, I didnt know that the server side needed to be modifed to run Jinitiator 1.3.1.9. Is there a patch for the server side or more docs somewhere.
    I'm stuck.
    Thanks for any help,

  • I can't upgrade jinitiator 1.3.1.28

    hi all,
    i try to update E-Business suite 11i jinitiator from 1.3.1.21 to 1.3.1.28 , and i followed steps in note 232200.1 untill i reached to this step:
    4.3.2. Run the jinit.cmd script from the <patch_top>/<interop_patch_number>/fnd/patch/115/bin/ directory, against the web node of your middle tier as outlined in the jinit.cmd Script section below.
    (Where '<patch_top>' is the directory in which you unzipped this patch). ".
    i can't run "jinit.cmd" script because i didn't found the path which typed '<patch_top>/<interop_patch_number>/fnd/patch/115/bin/ directory' , can any one help me?
    NOTE: when i unzipped jinitiator 1.3.1.28 patch it hadn't include '.drv' file only '.exe' .
    i obligated to you.

    This is because you have not applied the interoperability patch yet (Patch 5117525 - APPLICATIONS INTEROPERABILITY PATCH FOR JINITIATOR 1.3.1.x)
    You need to run jinit.cmd since this script will apply the patch driver, update the new jinitiator version information into your context file, update the version used by Workflow and Discoverer and run autoconfig to incorporate the new values through your application.
    One you are done with the above, remove 1.3.1.21 file from the server, uninstall the previous version of jiniator from the client, and restart all the application services.

  • Forms application is broken since a java upgrade

    All,
    our user services center upgraded java on end user desktops.
    Since the upgrade to 1.6.0_50, some Oracle Forms webutil calls when running the form via a web browser just hangs the browser. My developers are making webutil calls from Oracle Forms in this application.

    My question is does each user desktop installation require a jacob.dll? Where should this jacob.dll be located on the desktop installation and can the jacob.dll that is located on my Linux Host where Oracle Forms 10.1.2.3 be used on the client machines?
    Please forgive me as I'm a DBA and not an Oracle Forms administrator so my understanding of all of this is a bit sketchy.

    Hi Sebastian,
    Can you provide us the MOS number for the document you mentioned please?
    We are troubleshooting problems with our WEBUTIL forms in our 10.1.2.3 AS in a RHEL environment and have not found a solution yet. What we are running into with the WEBUTIL forms is that they just hang after we call them from a browser window. There is not much information in the Java Console. All I see is:
    RegisterWebUtil - Loading WebUtil Version 10.1.2.3
    proxyHost=null
    proxyPort=0
    connectMode=HTTP, native.
    Froms Applet version is: 10.1.2.3
    We were using JInitiator previously with out 904 forms but are using the Java plugin with this version. And the rest of the forms seem to be working. Our problems are just with the WEBUTIL forms. NOTE We did not upgrade our 904 AS to version 10123. We created a new install and compiled all our forms/reports/pll/menus over in our new environment.
    If you don't mind me asking can you tell me if you had to recreate the WEBUTIL schema and its objects after you upgraded to AS 10.1.2.3?
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • I am using oracle Apps ERP in firefox wherein there is a Java Plugin , This is working fine in 3.5 version but as soon as i am upgrading to the latest version oracle is not working and firefox crashes. I can't upgrade even though i wish to

    We are using Oracle ERP in our company which is a web based ERP system. I am using firefox to work in ERP for convinieince pf working and using internet at the same time. This requires a plugin provided by oracle oajinit.exe to be installed in Plugins it is a JAVA plugin which opens the ERP Screens. This works fine in versions prior to 3.6 version of firefox. However, after upgrading to 3.6 version the forms do not open and firefox crashes. Due to this i am not able to upgrade to the latest version else i'll have to operate the ERP in internet explorer and using firefox for browsing which i do not want. The plugin used for the ERP is "* JInitiator 1.3.1.18 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)"

    Firefox 3.6 needs the Java Second Generation Plugin which comes with newer versions than 1.6.0_03 - update Java, the latest version is 1.6.0_22

  • Steps to upgrade to 10g R2

    Our unit will soon be deploying IE7 to our machines. I'm looking for simple instructions to upgrade to 10g R2. We are currently on 10g R1 (9.0.4). I assume it will be a simple de-install of DevSuite R1 and re-install of DevSuite R2 (10.1.2.0.2). But is there also a patch I need to install? I also found a whitepaper to help in understanding how to use JRE w/ running forms in IE7 as I understand the JRE is recommended over JInitiator. Is that correct?
    So to recap the steps:
    1. de-intall DevSuite R1 (9.0.4)
    2. Install DevSuite R2 (10.1.2.0.2)
    3. Install a patch? (not sure on this part)
    4. Install JRE - is this just on the client side or is there something necessary on the server?
    Am I missing anything?
    Thanks, phil

    I have forms running on my test machine after installing the Forms and Reports Services standalone product. I also installed the DevSuite on a separate home. I am having trouble with the OPatch for installing patch 3 but I have been able to test the forms successfully. Though I need to set up the db connection. I get the ORA-12154 TNS error. I have the info in the tnsnames file but I assume I need to configure w/ the Net Configuration Assistant?
    I also have this running w/ JRE instead of the JInitiator which seems to be working very well.
    So if anyone can point me in the right direction for:
    1. Setting up db connection to my forms
    2. OPatch use for installing patches
    3. info on webutil...do I need the webutil object and library as I did in the 10g 9.0.4 version?
    thank you.

  • Problems with input accented characters after moving JInitiator to JDK 1.5

    After upgrading from JInitiator 1.3.1.18 to JDK 1.5.0_06 (jdk plugin in IE), the input of accented characters (in our case portuguese) isn't working anymore in text areas on the forms (Forms 10g).
    So, if you push first the "´" key and then the "a" key, you should get as result "á" (worked correctly with JInitiator), but after upgrading to JDK 1.5 you will get simply a letter "a".
    Pressing Alt + 160 shows correctly "á".
    Somebody can give a clue about this problem please?
    Downgrading again to JInitiator is no option for us, as we need a more modern JVM (for a Dicom viewer applet we developed), and IE crashes if you have an Oracle form running with JInitiator, and then try to open another IE page with an applet requesting JVM 1.5 ...
    Thanks a lot for your comments.

    In IE, the server must be in the Trusted Sites list & the security for Trusted Sites set to low
    Tools -> Internet Options
    Security Tab
    Sites button
    Add all Forms servers, or use a wildcard to get your entire domain. If you are not using SSL, uncheck the "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone"
    Set the Security Level for this zone to Low. If the slider bar is not there, click the Default Level button, then slide the security setting to low.

    We have research ML and opened an SR but to no avail. can anyone figure out what is happening.
    Steps we have done so far:
    reinstalled jinitiator 1.3.1.29 no effect
    used alternate plugin-SUN JRE 6 no effect
    we do not have any toolbars from yahoo-google or msn or any other sources.
    secondly, when we go to control panel and see the java initiator icon and try do right click open. We can not open the properties.
    If anyone has experience this problem and give some help. Would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
