JIT DEBUGGER MSG ON opening of Desktop Software

I am unable to back up my phone as I am getting an error after downloading 6.1 desktop software that reads:  "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled,  Process ID=0x628 (1576), Thread ID=0xbb4(2996) -- Click OK to terminate the application or Cancel to Debug the Application
When I click Cancel I get the following:  No registered JIT debugger was specified  Click on Retry to have the process wait while attaching a debugger manually     or    Click on Cancel to abort the JIT debug request ...
Is this a problem with my computer or the download for 6.1 desktop software

Thank you. I find nothing in the public KB databases with that error message...your search may prove more fruitful:
http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
Otherwise, I suggest this thread:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Good luck!

  • XP Pro on computer won't open Blackberry Desktop software

I have been unable to synch my BlackberryTour with Outlook 2010. We run XP Pro as an operating system on the computer in question. Various versions of the Blackberry Desktop software haven't helped. Either they will open the BB Desktop Software (Version 5.0) but won't synch to Outlook 2010, or the BB software loads apparently successfully, but won't open on the computer (Version 7.1). My husband says he tried all the BB desktop versions in between unsuccessfully. Any ideas of what to try?
    Solved!

    Hi dmrincon,
To clarify, are you unable to launch the BlackBerry® Desktop Software or does it launch and you are just not able to sync?
    Thanks.

  • Palm Centro AT&T Desktop software run time error upon opening

I previously had a Palm 515m and the associated desktop software.
    Just bought a Centro
I installed my the Desktop by Access software and was able to syncrinize several times, as well as open and use the software.
Today I receive the following error and cannot open the desktop software:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libr
    runtime error
    Program: C\ProgramFiles\palm one\palm.exe
    abnormal program termination
I don't know if it matters, but my computer does sync on a network when I am at the office, and I do get error messages sying it cannot sync my palm files.
How do I fix this and get my desktop program to function progerly
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

That may work. If not ill leave this posted. Your IT can walk though my directions as needed to gets this up and running for you.
You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something happens. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy. Then go to your desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do with Palm Desktop from your computer. Like the above folder delete the whole palm folder. One this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your registry.
Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel you are unsure of your self see if you have a friend that can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything they need to delete. To help against this we need to do a backup.
Go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
Easiest way to make sure your doing the right one highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.
The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer
Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you did not sync before create a hotsync name.

  • New updated desktop software freezes on open

    Hi;
I updated my blackberry desktop to the new version yesterday and now I can't   do anything-- I open  the desktop software and it takes me to the tasks  tab saying that i have no calendar and not contacts  set up and to start a new calendar.  when I try to move to another tab or to the menu bar everything freezes and I need to do a forced quit.
    I have  installed/unistalled many times.
I am on a mac  10.5.8 and blackberry tour 9630 and the new desktop version
    thanks.

    Hey alisastein,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I would suggest perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software:
You will need to remove the following files from the Mac and empty your trash and restart the computer once the uninstall is complete.
    /Library/Application Support/BlackBerryDesktop
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.blackberrydesktopmanager.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.blackberrydesktopmanager.plist.lockfile
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.blackberrydevicemanager.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.InstallerLauncher.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.pkg.BlackBerry-Desktop-Software-Installer.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.pkg.BlackBerry-Desktop-Software-Uninstaller.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.pkg.BlackBerry-Device-Manager-Installer.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.RimLaunchAgent.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.rim.Uninstall-BlackBerry-Desktop-Software.plist
    /Applications/BlackBerry Desktop Manager.app
    /Library/Caches/com.rim.blackberrydesktopmanager
    /System/Library/Extensions/RIMBBVSP.kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/RIMBBUSB.kext
Then go to www.blackberry.com/desktop and re-download BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac.  Let me know if you run into any trouble.

    Files
    - Media sync -
    Music

... This is normal right ?
** But when i connected with my playbook (OS version 2.1.0 )  the applications button on the left side of this program
" IS GONE" ** I can not manage any applications on my PLAYBOOK
    I don't know why ?!?!
Could anyone help me about this ...Thanks

    Hey NilePlayBook,
Thanks for reaching out to me.
This is correct you will not have the option to select Applications in BlackBerry Desktop Software.  You will still be able to create a backup if needed, or to access any files saved on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
What kind of application management were you trying to do?  You can move or delete applications from the BlackBerry PlayBook.
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Can't install downloaded Blackberry Desktop software

I downloaded the latest version of the BB 8100 desktop software from the BB site to my computer. It unzips OK but when it starts to install it stops every time. Have exited every Windows program first.  Any ideas?

    Problem:
Similar but not the same as errors 2738 1607 encountered with installing blackberry desktop manager software, there is no error message here, simply the WinZip Self Extractor completes, then the Installshield Wizard opens and appears to be installing.  After several seconds, a BlackBerry window opens (BlackBerry Desktop Software - Installshield Wizard) with the message: "The wizard was interrupted before the BlackBerry Desktop Software could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.    Click Finish to exit the wizard.
    Solution(s)
Ok, saw this thread was un answered so I thought I would reply in case anyone out there has this issue too, it drove me mental for a week too.  (before you read on I am not responsible for any messed up computers, blackberries or anything at all! This  is a GUIDE that worked for me and not the law!) So, here we go… I tried many many things to fix this, I am on Vista home, berry 9700 bold 2, TELUS Mobility (doesn’t really matter), Blackberry handheld OS 5.0, Vista Desktop Manager 5.0.1. English without media manager/roxio w/Sp1 downloaded from blackberry. I tried just about everything you can imagine, know my way around computers reasonably well (or so my mom tells me haha) and uninstalled the previous version of desktop manager with REVO uninstaller etc...
Some of the other things I tried that did NOT work for me but MAY WORK for you are as follows, what ultimately worked for me was step C and all sub sections of, I might start there but I am writing this in order of things I tried.
Solution A) un/re registering vbscript.dll (in c:windows\system32) to no avail…click start, run cmd prompt (should open as admin),
    1. Start à Accessories à right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator. A Windows Elevation confirmation screen will pop up. Confirm the action OR alternatively just run CMD from Start àrun à cmd and it should run as admin
    2. The Command Administrator Prompt opens to something like the following- C:\Windows\system32>. If anything else change directory by typing this without quotes: “cd\windows\system32”
    1)     Now at the command prompt, which should be- C:\Windows\system32  unregister the vbscript.dll file from Windows by typing at the command prompt (without quotes) “regsvc32 /u vbscript32.dll” (This will un-register the VB Script dll with your computer. A confirmation window will appear after this)
    2)     Now we want to register it C:\Windows\system32 regsvr32 vbscript.dll (This registers VB Script with your computer -- a confirmation window will appear after this as well.)
    3)     Try rebooting and running your blackberry software install
Solution B) Everything on this site : This Blackbery Forum Post (great post, thanks! Hey, you might learn something here that will come in handy one day if it doesn’t help you now, I did)
Follow each step there, try rebooting and running your blackberry software install as indicated
Solution B.Longshot) If A and B don’t work, you can try a repair of vista using the recover cd (if you don’t have one go here: neoSmart (I downloaded and burned image with aShampoo dvd burning software, restart windows with DVD/CD in the drive, press F12 on boot (or whatever gets YOU into ‘setup’, not the BIOS, change boot first device to CD/DVD ROM. I used this and it works perfectly, just follow their directions on the site and pick the right version for your OS etc) be *VERY*CAREFUL to NOT wipe your drive and just do a REPAIR (can take an hour), again if you don’t know what you are doing, skip this one and move on.
What DID WORK for ME, is the following (SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT *** DO NOT ASSUME THAT USING AN UNINSTALLER LIKE REVO WILL DO ALL OF THIS FOR YOU - THIS WAS MY MISTAKE from the beginning, 25 hours later I realized that YOU NEED TO DO THE UNINSTALL AND SOME MANUAL STEPS EVEN IF YOU SELECT THE MOST THOROUGH***)
This one, D, worked for me specifically:
Solution D) Uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software, preferably using REVO UNINSTALLER  go:  HERE to get Revo (CNET)
Use the Advanced uninstall option, thorough option, the last one down the list, this will notonly use blackberry’s built in uninstaller, but scan for remnants of the software on your drive and registry
When prompted select all and delete everything it finds, do not skip any steps, reboot, try re-installing the blackberry desktop software
You could try a similar type of uninstaller if you have one; however, I don’t recommend leaving it to using the control panel add/remove programs, I did not try this with that method
Solution D part 2) Once you have uninstalled and rebooted
    - Delete the Research In Motion Folders from the hard drive AND Registry
Browse to C:\program files\Research in Motion, delete this folder
    Click Start à Run.
Type Regedit, and then click OK. (Please be careful here, only do this if you have a good idea what you are doing, you can really mess things up here, go slow carefully please please please)
In Registry Editor, delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\   (This key will supposedly be missing if you are removing Desktop Manager version 4.0)
Reboot, reinstall the Blackberry Software, issue SHOULD HOPEFULLY be resolved!! So there you have it. I am 99% sure one of those things will get you back on your feet....good luck,
    Good luck
I can be reached at 6packs at live dot com if you spot an error I can fix, otherwise please post to the forums!

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.

  • Desktop Software Improvement Suggestions

Comments and suggestions about Desktop software  v 4.5.0.81 (platform
    2.7.0.78)
The Main Menu that pops up when launching the synchronization software shows icons for : Application Loader, Media, BackUp and Restore, Synchronize, Device Switch Wizard only.
The most obvious option, START SYCHRONIZATION isn't available.  Since this option is not provided, the device automatically starts the synchronization process itself unless the "synchronize automatically" option is not checked.  This is inconvenient because users may want to open the Desktop Software to perform other tasks while the device is connected, without starting synchronization.
Synchronization isn't really automatic when the device is connected because it is necessary to sit and watch it slog along as it processes and reads first from the device, then Outlook and so on.  The process takes several minutes to complete, and the user is required to click ACCEPT at least four times until synchronization is complete.
Version 4.7 is advertised on your website, but my mobile carrier, T-Mobile does not yet show it as available.  I hope that version 4.7 of the desktop software will allow scheduled synchronization to occur at a time the user determines, provided the device is connected.  Version 4.7 should also allow the synchronization process to run from start to finish without manually accepting modifications at several intervals while the process is underway.A report allowing users to review (and perhaps modify) changes once synchronization is complete would be adequate, in my opinion.

    1.  Allow files you want to transfer to your device to simply be dragged and dropped onto the desktop manager.
    2.  Provide access to basic apps such as the Calendar at the desktop (hint: Palm had this figured out years ago.)

  • Blackberry desktop software modem help?

So here's the story: I formatted my laptop lost BDS, tried reinstalling but failed, eventually copied the whole blackberry desktop software folder from another pc to mine.
But that didn't fix my problem since it didn't detect my device so I ran over to blackberry's site and downloaded the usb and modem drivers. I installed them and yay it detects my phone (after I manually run blackberry device manager). Now the problem lies with the modem configuration (the whole reason why I got the desktop software in the first place) when I press the mobile internet button it takes me to the mobile internet settings but nothing happens, there is just a green circle loading icon to the right of the profile option. It doesn't do anything and I can't chose any settings I did wait for 20 mins but still nothing.
    Please help

    Hey CrimsonCloud,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
First thing I would suggest is performing a clean uninstall of BlackBerry® Desktop Software.  Follow all of the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
Then restart your PC and go to www.blackberry.com/desktop to download the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Software and install the software.  If you receive any errors, please let me know the exact error message.
Once installed, restart the PC and when the computer is up and running, connect your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 smartphone via USB and it should install drivers.
Once you get a notification saying the drivers are now installed, open BlackBerry Desktop Software and then try to setup your tethering.
Let me know if you have any mroe questions.
    Cheers.

  • Palm Desktop Software

    I have had this Palm for awhile.  I used it on my work computer but changing to home computer.  I downloaded software from website.  I can sync the Palm to the Palm Desktop Software without a problem or errors.  When I open the desktop software, it won't let me open or click anywhere on the screen.  A box pops up with the following information;
Palm Desktop Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
It gives me 3 buttons to click:  Debug, Send Error Report, Don't send.  If I click on Don't send or Debug, the window will close.  I have removed the program and downloaded again, but I have the same experience.
    Any help would be welcomed.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

First thing is first that text size is really small and I have horrible eyes.
Ok next is the troubleshooting, what we are going to need to do is figuring what is causing the palm desktop to crash, I bet it is your data, so lets see if I am right.
You first need to locate your userfolder, it is located in program files/palm/username/
Once you have your user folder in that folder you will see a bunch of folders, I'm first concerned with datebook. Go in datebook and look for the datebook.dat file, cut that file out of that folder and place in the root of your userfolder.
Going back into palm desktop (if it opens without error) you will see your calendar is gone.
Next you need to tell palm desktop to open in something other than address or calendar I usually suggest memos. To do this you can go to tools/options and change the view palm desktop opens in (default is address).
Once you have it changed to memos you need to put your calendar back into palm desktop. So close palm desktop and go back to your userfolder. Grab the datebook.dat file off of the root of your username and place it back in the datebook folder (it will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing files, tell it yes)
Ok so your calendar is back in your username time to go back to palm desktop, relaunch palm desktop and this time go to tools/options/tools and and check for corrupted records, it will scan your database and fix any corrupted records it finds, tab over to calendar and see if it crashes if it doesn't you are good to go.
Also on a side note if it still crashes with your datebook out of your username, move your addressbook out also, usually the culrpit is calendar but i have seen contacts cause the problem also and on rare occurances both.
Post back if you need more information or any clarification.

If desktop software is not offering your desired language ( Hindi ) then you can try to Install an OS pack which offer this language . If you want to do that then follow those steps :
1.Download an OS pack having All Language  from here  Software from Redington (India) Limited
( Make sure you are downloading for the same device model )
    2. Now Double Click  on the file that you Downloaded to Install it on your PC
    3. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.
4.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) :
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
        C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
From here you have two options :
Once completed Open BlackBerry Desktop Software ( 7.1 ) > Select Applications. > In the Language and Input Support section, select the language to be added to the BlackBerry smartphone (a + will appear next to the language to install) > Click Apply.
    Or
Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.  It will Install the OS on your BlackBerry .

  • Error loading Blackberry Desktop Software

I have XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3. I tried installing the newest version of BDM ver. 6.2 which I downloaded from RIM. The received the error while loading: "Balckberry Desktop Software has encountered an error and must close..."
I uninstalled and removed all registry entries and RIM folders and and also used a system cleaner (CCleaner). I reinstalled again and the error still occurs. RIM.destophelper.exe does load to system tray. There are no error codes of any kind associated with this failure to load.
Any help trouble shooting this would be appreciated.

Thanks again for the quick reply.
Is the BlackBerry connected the whole time when you're trying to open BlackBerry Desktop Software?
And just to clarify you did perform all these steps when you uninstalled the previous software: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
Because that error will appear if some old DTM files are still present on the computer.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Desktop Software error. Need help!

    Hello sir,
I have a surveilance software ( .alx and .cod ) and i want to instal them to my BB Z10 . I have the version of software 10.1.......and when i open the Desktop software i got a error. See here ->>>http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/6417/7d2p.png     Please help me ASAP. Thanks

Oh...that's different from what you first said. If you are not the originator of the app, then the Developer section of this site won't be of any use, for that's for people actually writing the app itself, not those who have various versions of it.
If you can find the bar file of the app somewhere on the internet, you can side-load it to your BB10 via DDPB Installer. There's no guarantee that it'll work correctly, but I've had great luck with side-loads for a few of my favorite apps that are not written for BB10. I don't know how to convert an apk to a bar, but there also are tricks for that. A few minutes searching on Google and I'm sure you'll find all that you need.
    Good luck!

  • Palm Desktop software - Fails to open with msg "Error: Failed to open Address Book database"

In July 2009 I dropped my trusty Visor on a tile floor and it stopped working.  So, in the meantime I have been using only the Palm Desktop software.
Just yesterday, when I attempted to launch the Palm Desktop software, it failed with the message “Error: Failed to open Address Book database”.  I think this error was caused by a very ungraceful shut-down of my Win XP system yesterday.
I really do need to use the Palm Desktop software for my address list, calendar, and memo.  The problem is that the error with the Address Book database seems to be preventing the Palm Desktop software from initializing.
I am using Palm Desktop 4.0.1 on Windows XP SP3.  I do NOT  have an export file of the Palm address book or other databases.  However, I do have five levels of backup history on my external Maxgor backup drive.
Specifically, on my current c drive I have files in the directory:
    C:\Program Files\Handspring\WR\address
address.bak                  5/16/2009   (from last sync before I broke Visor)
                address.dat                   5/24/2011
                Personal.ABA                11/6/2008
                Unfiled.ABA                   3/28/2008
On my most recent backup of my system, there are the following files:
address.bak                 5/16/2009   (from last sync before I broke Visor)
                            address.dat                  5/12/2011
                            Personal.ABA              11/6/2008
                            Unfiled.ABA                  3/28/2008
I have not listed the four older backup versions.
I haven’t tried any corrective measures yet (I don’t want to make matters worse) and am hoping that someone can guide me along the right path.
Is it possible for me to just rename the “current” address.dat file to something like address.SAV and then copy the Address.dat file file with date of 5/12/2011 into the current directory.  Will the software then just use the older version of the data, or must I do something else.
I am grateful for any assistance.  Thank you very much.

Thanks for the speedy response.  However, I read the article for which you provided the link, and I hve also read many other articles that I found via search, but I don't think these will help me.  All of these articles seem to assume that (1) you have a handheld to which you can sync and thereby rebuild the database on the PC, or (2) you have a backup that you created via the Palm Desktop export function.  Unfortunately, I have neither and so I don't think any of these solutions will work for me.
I did read with great interest an article that stated that recent versions of Palm Desktop have a built-in function that will repair a corrupted Datebook database.  Will this also fix a corrupted Address Book database which is my problem?
So, I downloaded and attempted to install the latest version of Palm Desktop.  I was careful to read the instructions that stated NOT to uninstall my current version of Palm Desktop, but to just install the latest version on top of my current Palm Desktop.  However, when I attempted to do the installation, the installer software said it could not install on top of my current software and that I should first uninstall my current software.
    I have some questions now:
    (1) If I uninstall my current version of Palm Desktop, will this destroy my Address Book, Datebook, and Memo databases ( I don't care about the ToDo database)?  If so, what can I do to preserve those databases?
    (2) Is there really a function built in the recent versions of Palm Desktop that will fix a corrupted database?  Is this an "automatic" function that will detect and fix a broken database or is this something I will have to invoke?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Palm Desktop software - Fails to open with msg "Error: Failed to open To Do List database"

In July 2009 I dropped my trusty Visor on a tile floor and it stopped working.  So, in the meantime I have been using only the Palm Desktop software.
Just a couple days ago, when I attempted to launch the Palm Desktop software, it failed with the message “Error: Failed to open To Do List database”.  I think this error may have been caused by a very ungraceful shut-down of my Win XP system the day before.
I really don’t care about the To Do List data since I really don’t use it --- in fact, I haven’t used it in many months.  However, I really do need to use the Palm Desktop software for my contacts, calendar, and memo.  The problem is that the error with the To Do List database seems to be preventing the Palm Desktop software from initializing.
Just guessing, I saved the todo.dat and todo.bak files by renaming them, and then renamed the todo.bak file to todo.dat.  Then I attempted to launch the Palm Desktop application, but it failed with the same error “Error: Failed to open To Do List database”.
I also tried renaming all of the todo files so that none had a name of todo.dat or todo.bak.  The result is that the Palm Desktop software still will not start up.
I think I am using Palm Desktop 4.0.1, at least that is what the help text file seems to tell me.
I am grateful for any assistance.  Thank you.

Your on the correct path by saving the data by renaming the files. But to resolve this error we need to remove the data all together. Since you no longer need this data if you just delete it then it should not matter. If Palm Desktop is giving this error but will not open I doubt that the data can be recovered in any event.
