Jittery photos when applying motion to photos in imovie...

I am using imovie 06.  As I apply motion to my photos (eg. zoom, etc.), parts of the photo seem to be "jittery" or "sparkly".  For instance, the large area of grass seems to sparkle as imovie zooms in, which is very distracting.  Any suggestions?

This does not work.  I have the same duplicate problem (since I updated to mavericks).
Whether you use the Option/Command keys or not, you still get the same dialog box as described above. You do NOT get the alternate box in which you described.
For the record: I am using a 2009 20" imac (running 8GB instead of the stock 2GB) that has all the latest updates as they are offered.   I have always been able to open iPhoto prior to this upgrade.

I have an image in my project....I bring in another image...I have tried this using one and two groups doesnt matter...
I apply flop to both images to rotate.....then grow shrink....then I set both on a motion path by selecting both and using the bezier tool...hit enter when I am done making the path I hit enter and the path is created....I select path fro the group and goto inspector change path shape to geometry and then apply the bezier path....at this point Motion 5 crashes and I lose all
work...I have saved the file up to this point now...but what am I doing wrong...
    Thanks!

Make sure the shape you are using in the behavior is not inside the group you are trying to animate, put it in a seperate group.

  • Applying Motion Presets In Flash CC 2014

In previous versions of Flash i.e. CS6, when applying motion presets you could hold down Shift when you click the Apply button to have the motion preset stop at its current position. This no longer seems to be the case. Has this feature been removed, or is there a new way to do this?

Ok it is in the flyout portion of the motion presets menu. Not sure why they got rid of the hot key, and wish they would bring that back.

  • I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this?

I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this? I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

  • My text moves to the wrong place when I apply motion blur!

Hello friends! thanks in advance for any able to solve my problem. when ever I apply motion blur to moving text it repositions the text permanently.... I have to delete the motion blur effect in order to have it text stay on course...any suggestions?

"Delete the motion blur effect"?  Sounds like you are applying an effect, rather than turning on motion blur.
Please provide a detailed explanation of the process that causes the problem.  If possible, post a screengrab as well.
Note that Motion Blur, at its core, does alter the position of animation by blurring the disnace between two moments in time.  When you activate motion blur, it samples the position of your text at multiple points in time to create the illusion of motion blur.  If your text is moving very fast, the results can be surprisingly major.

  • When I drag photos into iMovie, the image quality is degraded.  Can I somehow prevent the degradation?

When I drag photos into iMovie, the image quality is degraded.  Can I somehow prevent the degradation?

    Hi
A very common origin to jumpy picture is
    • Recorded material in one frame rate e.g. 29.97fps (NTSC) and iDVD set to do a 25fps (PAL) project - OR the other way around.
It delivers a DVD but a very bad one.
I do convert all my material to same fps as the DVD I want to do (e.g. PAL) - before any editing etc.
I use JES_Deinterlacer or Compressor to do this and the result is so much better.
JES_Deinterlacer is free on Internet and makes a Great job - Professional alternatives comes at an astronomical cost and the quality is not hardly no better.

  • The wrong picture shows up when adding photo to imovie

When I add a photo to Imovie it shows up as a random video clip or a black screen.  I have rebuilt my Iphoto thumbnails. I have deleted my Cache files from Imovie.  I need another idea of how to fix this problem.  I don't want to rebuild my 59 minute project and need it completed ASAP.

    Hi
Rebuild the thumbnails - in iMovie ?
    or did You
    Rebuild and Repair iPhoto Library.
This can (not so seldom) get corrupted and in need of this.
BUT - IT TAKES LOT'S OF TIME. To me and > 60.000 photos it takes about 24 hours to make this - and Mac has to be left without any other processes running sametime (Internet etc)
iMovie and iPhoto and GarageBand and iTunes are closely connected so if the library of one of them go awry they all get into problems (milde or severe).
To make an iPhoto Library Repair - do
    • Close all other running applicatins (I use to re-start my Mac)
    • if Lap-top - it NEEDS to be connected to Power/Mains as battery will not last the full process
    • Start iPhoto BUT AT THE SAME TIME KEEP - alt + cmd- keys (option and command) down DURING THE FULL UP-START
    • Now You get a menu to select from - I select all of them.
    • Then I do something else for a long long time.
    • When Library is sorted out - Re-Start Mac and now iMovie should find the right photos (if imported from iPhoto)
    I also do:
    • Trash iMovie pref file/s
    • Run Repair Permissions (from Disk Util tool)
    • Run Repair Hard Disk (from Disk Util tool - BUT to ba able to do this my Mac must be started from DVD or external Hard Disk - as it can not do brain surgery on it self)
    Good luck !

  • Issue with photos in iMovie - looks normal in timeline but won't play

I'm having an issue with importing photos into iMovie. I've done it many a time without trouble but suddenly, when I really need it...ahh!
The problem is with a video I've already exported once—I'm not sure if that's related. I created a slide in Powerpoint, made it into a jpg, then dragged it into my timeline (also something I've done before without issue). It looks totally normal in the timeline, but when I play the video it shows a still from the previous clip instead of my photo. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Gah. This is where I'm at...I'm using the code from above and
my mp3 sound file is ID'd in the linkage properties as monkey7.mp3
    and it's still not working.
What buttons should be checked in the Linkage properties? If
my id is monkey7.mp3 and I check the Export for ActionScript
button, my sound file plays multiple times and it still won't stop.
If I do the same thing but ID it as "monkey7.mp3", it plays
    correctly but won't stop.
I don't know if this matters but my mc where my sound file is
located is one frame. Is that correct?
I'm sure the code is correct but I'm missing something and I
    can't figure it out!

How do I use photos in imovie if the photo browser is not active. When I click on the camera icon on the right middle of the page, it does nothing no highlight or nothhing to show that its active. I do have photos in iphoto.

It might help to trash your Preferences files. Especially, the com.Apple.iapps.plist file.

  • Photos into iMovie: yes, it's been addressed, but...

... I can't find exactly my issue, at least not recently.
Many of the posts on this topic seem to be about exporting to iDVD, but that's not my problem. It starts earlier. My photos get compressed and look terrible as soon as they're imported into iMovie. I have '09, but the local Apple Store didn't think upgrading to '11 would help, because -- such as I understand -- a single large photo is much bigger than a frame of video or something more or less like that.
Now, I pretty much just want to do slideshows, high-quality slideshows, and I don't even care about Ken Burns effects. But before you say: DON'T do this in iMovie! That's not what it's for! Do it in something else! Consider:
-People I know who use Final Cut Pro (which is more than I want to invest, anyway) say that it, too, has problems importing and manipulating photos. No one I know has Final Cut Express to play around with, and there's no Free Demo, obviously.
-I've now dabbled in both FotoMagico and Photo to Movie, and they seem to have some things going for them, but I can't seem to control audio in them as well as in iMovie, and that's a huge problem. I need to control fades precisely, and I need multiple audio tracks to layer and cross-fade.
-Other programs I've dabbled with, such as Aperture 3 and Sounds Slides, also have limited ability to manipulate sound and/or adjust the length of individual slides.
-One responder in a forum last year named Klaus  suggested an elegant work-around: create the slideshow in Photo to Movie (which he uses) or FotoMagico (which he guessed would work ok), and then bring it back into iMovie as a .dv video clip for sound editing and finishing. I tried this, but P2M compressed the images when I saved as a .dv (back to square one), and I couldn't figure out a way to export in FM that iMovie would recognize.
    So . . .
Is there a better way to import photos into iMovie to preserve integrity? (I don't think so)
Is there a better way to export video out of FotoMagico or P2M into iMovie?
Is there something I'm missing about their sound editing capabilities?
Can Final Cut Express do what I want without much more excess capacity than I need and a huge learning curve?
    Are there any other programs?
Klaus, Bengt, others -- please weigh in!!!
    Thanks, Danke, Merci . . .
    Fred

Understanding your data use is important, Rustyhinges! There are many things that can factor into a sudden increase in data. Thank you for ensuring Facebook Video is off. You can also view which applications are using the most data by going to Settings, Data Usage and scrolling to the bottom. As Android_Optimizer mentioned, making sure the device is not syncing to cloud services and restricting background data are great steps to keeping the phone data use, controlled. Please let us know if you have further concerns on this. Thank you.

  • Export photos to iMovie

Procedure to export photos (and video) to iMovie.

Yes I agree with Barbara, although if you export originals to the desktop and drop them into a new project, you can get good results. By default iMovie automatically adds Ken Burns style to stills, so you get instant pan and zoom. This can be adjusted on individual slides or removed completely. The other thing is that when you save a project in iMovie you automatically get four copies, including two highly compressed copies. It’s hard to find them unless you open package contents. Then you will see:
    720p.mov; 1080p.mov large.m4v and medium.m4v
The 720p and 1080p files can be used on sites such as YouTube or Vimeo.
It’s really no different to making a wmv file on Windows, which has similar drawbacks. Personally I would use iPhoto for stills. Simply right-clicking an event and choosing play slideshow (for displaying on my Macbook Pro) and I would only use iMovie to mix video and stills in the absence of Premiere Elements.

  • Corrupt photo in iMovie

Was importing a photo into iMovie 8.0.6 and it crashed. Was never able to get it running so upgraded to 9.0.2. Now the 1st photo in my show has another photo overlaying it. If I delete it, the phantom photo moves over to the next area and still plays. It seems to be imbedded in the timeline somehow.
    Any ideas????

I have a similar problem - IMovie 9.0.3. Worked on a 33 minute video for weeks. Now a photo from about 23 minutes into the video pops up during the first transition of the video ... not a very clean beginning to the movie. Must be a bug in the software. If I remove the cross dissolve transition at the beginning then it may go away ... a compromise on quality. Or when the video is complete maybe export as a movie then bring in as a full movie clip ... cut out phantom photo and put the transition in at the beginning ... will the overall quality be as good? Frustrating. I just hope that the movie doesn't get any more corrupted ... like it did a couple of times with iMovie 09.

  • Can't import photos from new "Photo" into iMovie 9.0.

Since upgrading to the new Photo app, iMovie 9.0 only recognizes Photo Booth.  Previously I could drag and drop selected photos into iMovie, but now can't import them that way or through the Photo Browser in iMovie.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for your insight.  Over the course of about a week, I did persistently try to upgrade to iMovie 10 but, despite the help of the Apple Support Community, could not get all my projects to migrate properly from iMovie 9 to 10.  Many of them Many of the 300 short projects come in a jumbled mess.  So I'm stuck with iMovie 9, which, in turn, means Photos won't connect properly when working with iMovie.  At least I know to stop trying and I'm able to go back to iPhoto without suffering any repercussions.
