JMS Persistent Mode (can I use alternate provider, ie database)

When I am using JMS Persistence in Queued messages or PubSub, can I use an alternate form of persistence.
In other words can I run persistence thru a database like DB2 or Oracle, instead of the native support by the SAP engine.
I dont mean using MQSeries or another JMS provider, but rather having the SAP JMS connect to DB2 or Oracle to provide a more robust form of persistence.
Is that possible ?
Thanks, John

Hello John,
Yes, that was exactly what I meant. In the download section there is a Sneak preview with Linux and DB2.
I think that the Sneak preview was available for MS-SQL as well while the official versions support more DBMS-s. However I am certainly no expert on the installation, I have just small JMS experience and I was trying to help.
Please have a look at :
SAP WAS 6.40 for Oracle
where another user was asking about possible installations.
Best Regards
Peter

Yes you can ofourse but dont be in idea that logging will be mininal. Loggign will be as per recovery model full. Every thing will be logged. If you are going to use bulk insert task you can consider switching recovery model to Bulk logged but you will not
have option to do point in time recovery.
PS: please dont create duplicate threads
If you read first Note section in below link it clearly states that yes logging will be full and you can use

  • In start disc mode can I use a external USB flash drive on MAC Book Pro

In start disc mode can I use a external USB flash drive on MAC Book Pro?

To do what? Yes you can connect a USB flash drive to the system and if it has the Recovery HD files on it you can boot from it. If it has the OS X install files on it you can boot from it. If it is large enough to contain a Time Machine backup on it you can restore your system from it.
So what do you want to do with the USB thumb drive?

  • Can I use more than one database connections in a jdeveloper project?

I use jdeveloper version 9.0.4.0 (build 1407),Can I use more than one database connections in one jdeveloper project?

9.0.4 is a fairly old version, so you may only find a few people who know how it worked.
Assuming you're using ADF BC, once known as BC4J, once know as JBO, in the project, and that the architecture hasn't changed much, then the answer is only 1 connection per project.
Programmatically you're free to use as many connections via JEE as you see fit, but ADF BC is limited to one connection.

I am sorry,i don't know whether this location is the correct location to post my question or not
I have developed one application using complete vb only. That is completly desktop appliation and not suitable for centralized database. Is there any facility to keep my front end as same (vb application) and for the database transaction can i use jdbc? Is there any possibility to do that like View is vb based application and the database connectivity is only jdbc

Sounds like a really bad choice even if it was possible.

  • Can I use DMU for this database?

    Hi everyone,
I am snippeting a CSSCAN ( i know..) so that will reveal the amount of convertible data we have to tackle and wanted everyone's opinion if we can use DMU for this database.
    [Data Dictionary Conversion Summary]
    Datatype Changeless Convertible Truncation Lossy
    VARCHAR2 7,805,484 202 0 0
    CHAR 1,573 0 0 0

    Total 8,141,836 15,920 0 0
    Total in percentage 99.805% 0.195% 0.000% 0.000%
The data dictionary can not be safely migrated using the CSALTER script

    Total in percentage 99.473% 0.527% 0.000% 0.000%
I think it should be fine.
    Please let me know.
    thanks

    Hello,
the amount of convertible has no relation to if you can use dmu or not.
of course, the less convertible, the less time the conversion process itself will take, but that's about it

  • After resetting firefox as it crashed unless on safe mode can't use google search engine

I had to reset Firefox after it crashed unless in safe mode I tried the disable hardware acceleration still crashed so reset. Lost all my bookmarks and history etc and my google search bar no longer works in fact my search bar doesn't work whichever search engine I try and I can't sync either as I have an unknown error

After a reset, you should find an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop. If you can find that, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data from it. Is it there?
On your question about your Google search bar, is it the built-in Firefox search bar with the search engine selection drop-down on the left end?
Do any of these search boxes work:
    * Address bar (also known as URL bar)
    * Built-in Firefox home page (if you use it)
    * Built-in new tab page (if you use it)

  • HT4260 Airport in Bridge Mode - can you use its ethernet to connect other devices?

If I buy a 2nd Airport Extreme to set up in bridge mode via ethernet, can I then connect other devices, such as a Roku or Apple TV via ethernet to that 2nd Airport? I prefer using a wired connection for Roku as wireless is very wonky most of the time. Will that work?

    Yes

  • IPS Inline Interface Mode - Can you use a port-channel?

    Hi,
I'm trying to determine if you can have a 2-gig Layer-3 Port-channel going thru an IPS 4260 appliance. See attached diagram. Is this possible?
The client I'm working with would prefer not to break this Port-channel into equal-cost 1-gig links (I don't think there will be any performance difference...) However I'm thinking if they want the appliance inline like the diagram shows - they will need to break the port-channel. Is that a correct assumption?
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Yes this is possible.
It will require 2 InLine Interface Pairs on the sensor and both pairs should be added into the same Virtual Sensor.
The 4260 will not be aware that etherchannels are used on both sides, and does not need to be aware.
This may, however, require manual enablement of the etherchannels.
Also keep in mind that the performance in this setup will be limited to what the IPS-4260 is able to perform with that traffic.
If the IPS is only able to monitor 1 Gbps (which is its rating for Transactional traffic tests), then having the 2 InLine Interface Pairs will not give them any more performance than a single pair would.
If the IPS is able to monitor more than 1Gbps of their traffic (it is rated at 2Gbps for Media Rich tests), then the additional pair will allow the sensor to get to the above 1 Gbps monitoring.
If the 4260 is not able to keep with the traffic, then an upgrade to a 4270 using the same deployment setup may be necessary.
NOTE: This also assumes that only the left or right path are actively passing traffic at any one time. If both paths are passing traffic, then asymmetric traffic patterns can result. if asymmetric traffic is seen, then another deployment should be considered, or specifial configuration be placed on the sensors.
NOTE: This setup only works when a single sensor is used within the etherchannel. (1 sensor on each etherchannel, 2 sensors in your diagram because you have 2 etherchannels).
You can not place 2 sensors in the same etherchannel (would mean 4 sensors in your diagram).
This is because the balancing being done from the lower switch can not be guaranteed to match that being done from the top switch. A mismatch in balancing could lead to asymmetric patterns.
With a single sensor, the same virtual sensor sees all traffic regardless of which interface the packet comes in on, so a single sensor is fine. But with 2 sensors, the client traffic might get sent to a different sensor than the server traffic.

  • Can I use Java for PI database?

Does anyone ever used Java for PI dababase? Is it possible?
I know PI has an ODBC driver including core SQL conforming to
Micro$oft standard. Does it make the JDBC-ODBC bridge
    solution possible?
    Thanks a lot.
(PI database is the database developed by OSISOFT for plant information database.)

    Thank you for your reply.
We haven't set up our PI database yet. I am just investigate the possiblity so that we can decide which direction to go. VB or Java basically.
    Thanks again.

  • Can I use polling frequency for Database Adapter

I need to use Database Adapter that acts like FileAdapter. Can I set polling frequency for my Database Adapter, so that the adapter can query every 5 secs?

You can use polling feature when you configure your DB adapter Operation Type as "Poll for New or Changed Records in Table"
If you use Adapter configuration wizard it will promot for "Pollling Options" and Polling Frequency is the option which you can configure in seconds, mins or hrs

  • Can i use Custom Tags for Database retrieval (as per MVC pattern)?

In our project we are dealing with database, and i've used the Cutom Tags for database retrieval (as per the Article from Mr Faisal Khan) and it is working fine. But i have a doubt if it affects the performance in any way . I wanted to know if its recommendable to use Custom Tags for the DB retrieval as per MVC Pattern or shall i create a intermediate bean and then call the bean in custom tag.
    Thanks
    Prakash

Putting database code in your JSPs certainly couples your view to the database. That's usually not good.
If it's a simple app, it might be justified.
When you start having lots of pages and complex business logic it becomes less attractive. - MOD

  • Can I use Numbers as a database?

I am new to Numbers, but have some experience with Excel. If not not numbers do I need to go with something like FileMaker?

Real databases do a lot of things that cannot be done in spreadsheets.  But I don't know what it is you need to do. If you simply want to keep track of some text and numbers, spreadsheets are rudimentary databases that can do that. If you want to imbed files in the database or run reports or create relationships between tables of data, spreadsheets are not the way to go. Filemaker is really nice (though not cheap) and there is a definite learning curve.
