Jmx and jconsol questions
Hi,
I have couple of questions related Jmx
1) how can I connect with the Jconsol without the command,
So is there any way I don�t need to used command and connect to JConsol.
2) I have couple of different application which I want to monitor and they are on different servers. So where I have to register my mbean or where I can put the servlet in which I registered the Mbean. So that every application I have to monitor.

I am just learning about the app montoring features available through JConsole. I am using jdk150_06 to montor an app locally on a Windows PC. I set the property (-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote) on the statup of my app. The JConsole comes up, sees the JVM, I connect to it and everything seems ok. I want to pull a heap dump of the app to look at in the Memory Analyzer plugin tool available in Eclipse 3.5. According to all the doco I see in JConsole I should see a "com.sun.management" MBean registered in which I can specify a location for the heap dump and generate one. However, I don't see a "com.sun.management" MBean in my JConsole.
Wondering if anyone has done this before? Am I looking for the wrong thing? Is it maybe my JDK version or something?
Any help is appreciated.

Instructions for enabling jmx on a per-StorageNode basis can be found in chapter 8 of the Admin Guide: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/NOSQL/html/AdminGuide/standardized-monitoring.html
You can enable JMX when you create the bootstrap configuration, or after the store has been deployed by setting the StorageNode's mgmtClass parameter.
Once you have enabled it, you can connect to the JMX service by way of the StorageNode's registry. In Jconsole's "New Connection" dialogue, select "Remote Process" and supply the registry's hostname:port, where port is the number that was given as the -port argument in the makebootconfig command that originally configured the StorageNode.

I wish to monitor Oracle NoSQL cluster using Jconsole, I am aware current release of Oracle NoSQL is vested with JMX capabilities can anyone help to connect it via Jconsole or any alternate way to use JMX.

Questions on JMX and management-config
I was wondering if anyone can clarify the usage of management-config.
We've got a setup with managed-nodes=all and allow-remote-management=true (other params defaulted). We've got processes that occasionally ping the cluster (via a single node) to log performance statistics and to look for problems that might require intervention (across all nodes via remote management).
I'm trying to determine if the JMX subsystem is completely isolated from runtime cache performance.
1) Does the setting for the read-only flag impact performance in any way? If set to false, is there any sort of locking or synchronization that takes place when querying cluster nodes?
2) Do calls to JMX (and presumably the Invocation Service) share any resources with a Distributed Cache Service?
3) the Default management-config settings in Tangosol-coherence.xml point to the "Management" service - which is not actually defined elsewhere in the configuration file. Is this actually an implicit link to the Invocation Service?
4) Is there a single "Service Thread"? or does each distinct service have its own service thread?

DaveThe performance impact of management is relatively small. The consumption is based on the information "read" (getAttribute/getAttribute) and the frequency of the poll. Polls of the same data element within 1 second will receive the same result for remote nodes.
The formula to determine the network consumption estimation formula for Coherence 3.3 on a single poll of the information is:
Estimated network bytes per poll =
Number of remote Node MBeans retrieved * 725
+ Number of remote Cache MBeans retrieved * 225
+ Number of remote Storage Manager MBeans Retrieved * 720

Given the order N size of the Point-to-Point MBeans, It is not recommended to put that information in a loop for a large cluster.

EW: The Read-only flag does not impact performance. There is no synchronization on read of the objects. Synchronization on update is on an attribute by attribute basis.

EW: The JMX calls are processed through the Management (Invocation) Service. This shares system (memory, CPU, network) resources with other services. The management information is not processed out-of-band and under extreme load performance will be impacted.

EW: The Management service is a non-configurable Invocation service.

EW : Not exactly sure I understand the question. Each service has its' own "Service" thread and thread pool. However, there are some shared components at the TCMP (network) layer.

Hello,
I'm using a javax.management.timer.Timer MBean and registering it with the local MBean server. Instead of adding notifications programmatically, I want to be able to do it from Jconsole.
However, from Jconsole I can invoke any Timer operation (like removeNotification, etc.) except for all 4 addNotification operations, as they are all disabled.
Is this not supported? Why are they disabled? Is there a way to enable these operations?
I'm new to JMX and would appreciate any help.

The example you gave uses a StandardMBean. Our application already has a DynamicMBean. Is it a good practice for dynamic beans to extend the timer class. Or should it only be done with standard mbeans?
Also I've noticed that the listener that I registered and our DynamicMBean run in the same thread, so when the listener is running, the bean gets blocked and I cannot invoke any other operation. I found your blog about listeners and tried the following example but it doesn't help. How do I resolve this big issue?

Performance issue and functional question regarding updates on tables
A person at my site wrote some code to update a custom field on the MARC table that was being copied from the MARA table. Here is what I would have expected to see as the code. Assume that both sets of code have a parameter called p_werks which is the plant in question.

Here's the question - why did this person enqueue and dequeue explicit locks like this ? They claimed it was to prevent issues - what issues ??? Is there something special about updating tables that we don't know about ? We've actually seen it where the system runs out of these ENQUEUE locks.
Before you all go off the deep end and ask why not just do the update, keep in mind that you don't want to update a million + rows and then do a commit either - that locks up the entire table!The ENQUEUE lock insure that another program called by another user will not update the data at the same time, so preventing database coherence to be lost. In fact, another user on a SAP correct transaction, has read the record and locked it, so when it will be updated your modifications will be lost, also you could override modifications made by another user in another luw.
You cannot use a COMMIT WORK in a SELECT - ENDSELECT, because COMMIT WORK will close each and every opened database cursor, so your first idea would dump after the first update. (so the internal table is mandatory)

but I have a problem with my account for icloud password and security questions because my cloude id is *************** and with no problem with my apple id "*****************", I tried to restore my new iphone after I turned off find my iphone from icloud setting and when its restore was finished the iphone is locked and asked me to unlock the iphone with a ****************** that I forget the password and security questions and when I tried to enter my account id "**************** with no problem with its password it says to me "this account can't unlock this iphone"
when I visit tradeline (Apple products dealer) I found no answer and they adviced me to contact apple directly.

Spam filtering solution for iPhone and a question.
I've read a lot of posts about spam filtering for the iPhone and have yet another solution and a question. I use SpamSieve and I am not affiliated with them in any way. The nice thing about SpamSieve is that if it is the first rule in your Mail.app rule set any mail that follows has already been filtered. All you need to do then is create another rule that redirects email to what ever mail account you choose. Since my ISP allows multiple accounts, I will simply create an iPhone@myISP account.
Now the question. Is it possible to write an applescript that will turn the redirect rule on or off so that I don't have to dig into the rules section of Mail to get this done?

I did the back up as instructed... Installed a larger hard drive and followed the restore instructions... Now I get a white screen with a folder icon and blinking question mark. When trying to set startup with new drive I get a bless tool error... Help!!
If you have installed a new hard drive , you will need to have formatted it in Disk Utility correctly. This may explain your problem.
Boot into your 10.6 Install disk again at the top menubar > Utilities > select Disk utility and in there select your new hard drive, and select the tab Erase and choose to make the format as Mac OS Extended Journaled. When that is finished look in the main window to make sure that the partition map scheme says GUID Partition Table.
Now go to the Restore tab and reinstall from your backup. -

Create an Identity Source Sequence using AD as an Authentication Source. Go to Administration > Identity Management > Identity Source Sequences. Either Edit or +Add a Sequence and choose from the Authentication Sources shown.
Then choose that Identity Source Sequence by going to Administration > Web Portal Management > Settings. Double-click Sponsor from the Left Menu and click Authentication Source. Choose the Identity Source Sequence. Click Save.

Flash Security Settings and Random Questions not Displaying
Hey folks,
I created a Captivate 4 project with 3 slides and a question pool of about 70 questions in which I am randomly pulling in. I am using IE7 and Flash 10. Publishing in Flash 10. If I publish or view in Preview in a web browser the project launches, plays the first 3 slides, and then goes blank when the first question should appear. Note: previewing the project AND publishing the project as an .exe does launch and display all the questions correctly. It ends up being a flash security issue. I went to the adobe site and via the Adobe Flash Player Security Manager" I entered in the main .SWF captivate-generated file as a trusted file and then re-ran the published captivate project and it ran correctly. Question is ... what do I need to do to set up flash or my project so I don't have to do this for every new project that I deploy? I don't want to have the users have to go in and add whatever I deploy as a trusted file. It's also a little confusing as to why the first three slides played and it stopped at the questions ... seems like if it's not a trusted file, that it wouldn't run at all.

I think I'd be investigating a temporary web server to host on until things are ready. Here's where it will help.
By providing files to the end users, if you are copying files over you end up having to explain how to save the files. You then have to walk them through setting the Flash Security so they can properly view. It all just becomes a pain in the kazoo.
If you can find some server space, you simply upload the content and provide a link for the users to view the content.
Other than that, if you are insistent that copying is the way to fly, I might suggest you establish a known location where you want everyone to copy their files. Perhaps C:\TestFolder. Then provide some instruction on how to configure the folder with the relaxed Flash Security. From there forward, anything they copy to the folder should need no security adjustment.
