I am using JNDI to connect to Mysql database..
My problem is while creating Connection object i have used: con=ds.getConnection("root","root");
but when initializing Statement object stmt=con.createStatement();
Here is the problem,,,compiler is saying:Type mismatch: cannot convert from Statement to Statement
can anyone Plz help

  • SASL - Digest MD5 - JNDI Help needed

    Hi All,
    I am using Sunone Directory Server 5.2 and jsdk1.4.1. I tried the Digest-MD5 SASL authentication example given in JNDI tutorial and it worked fine. The problem is , when i try to run the same program thrice or more in succession, it hangs. Actually, the initial context gets created but the operations like simple getAttrs etc does not happen. what could be the problem or rather what is the solution to overcome it.
    Attached below is the sample source code used...
    try {
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable(11);
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://localhost:389/");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "DIGEST-MD5");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "dn:uid=xxx,ou=xxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxx");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "xxxxx");
    System.out.println("about to get context");
    DirContext ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    System.out.println("got context");
    Attributes attrs = ctx.getAttributes("ldap://localhost:389", new String[]{"supportedSASLMechanisms"});
    System.out.println(attrs);
    } catch (NamingException e) {
      e.printStackTrace();
    }thanks in advance

    As i have metioned , this was the message from the other forum
    I have posted the mail correspondences we had (hope they won't consider this as an offence)...
    There was a bug in the provider. It has been fixed in 1.4.2 and later
    releases.

    Hi,
    First, I would like to thank everyone behind the
    excellent JNDI tutorial. It acted as the bible for my
    JNDI learning.
    I tried the sample code ServerSasl.java provided. I
    got it working after a few trials. I tried to get the
    supportedSasl Mechanisms by the Sunone Directory
    Server 5.2 . I got them. Then i tried to authenticate
    using the default Digest-MD5 (am using jsdk 1.4.1).
    When, i try to run the same program in succession, it
    hangs up (4 or 5 times in a row). I am getting the
    initial context with the credentials provided but it
    hangs at doing the simple getAttrs operation. What
    could be the problem?
    Please reply to this query
    thanks in advance

  • Difficult ClassLoader problems with multiple deployed enterprise Apps

    Greetings!
    When multiple instances of an enterprise application are deployed, ClassLoader issues are causing ClassCast Exceptions in the instantiation of Stateless SessionBeans. These ClassCast Exceptions are causing the Stateless Session beans to not be created appropriately/correctly, and in turn there is an InvocationTargetException resulting in an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error (mapped to a custom handler).
    The setup is SJSAS2005Q2, JDK 1.5, MySQL 5.0, Linux (RedHat 9, and Debian 3.0/3.1)
    Below is a typical example:
    Exception creating stateless session bean : [{0}]java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
    <<long stack Trace omitted>>
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy111     at com.acjust.ecommerce.ejb.preferences.PreferenceManagerBean.ejbCreate(PreferenceManagerBean.java:354)     ... 67 moreHere is the code from PreferenceManagerBean, the offending line is the (first one) that does a lookup on PreferencesBean and casts the result. This is a SessionFacade (there are many others) and they all (may) exhibit this behavior when there are multiple enterprise apps running.
        public void ejbCreate() {
             LookupServiceHelper lookup = LookupServiceHelper.getInstance();
             preferencesHome = (LocalPreferencesHome)
                   lookup.getLocalHome(IConstants.PREFERENCES_BEAN);
             companyInformationHome = (LocalCompanyInformationHome)
                   lookup.getLocalHome(IConstants.COMPANY_INFORMATION_BEAN);
             businessAddressHome = (LocalBusinessAddressHome)
                   lookup.getLocalHome(IConstants.BUSINESS_ADDRESS_BEAN);
             sitePreferencesHome = (LocalSitePreferencesHome)
                   lookup.getLocalHome(IConstants.SITE_PREFERENCES_BEAN);
             paymentPreferencesHome = (LocalPaymentPreferencesHome)
                   lookup.getLocalHome(IConstants.PAYMENT_PREFERENCES_BEAN);
             productPreferencesHome = (LocalProductPreferencesHome)
                   lookup.getLocalHome(IConstants.PRODUCT_PREFERENCES_BEAN);
        }When there is one instance of the App, it works perfectly. When there are two instances, one works perfectly, and the other one will have the above issues with the instantiation of Stateless Session Beans (the broken enterprise app is the one that is NOT loaded or reloaded most recently).
    Thinking that the problem may be solved by rearranging or repackaging the software, multiple solutions have been tried. (ClassCast Exceptions such as these are typically the result of helper classes being loaded by one class-loader, then loaded by another, compared or casted, and the two are not equivalent). In this case, though, the software is behaving as though each enterprise app does not have its own class loader hierarchy, which is obviously highly undesirable for the situation at-hand. At any rate, bundling all library classes at the app server classpath level, putting all library classes in each jar, and war, and putting all library classes in the ear/lib directory and using MANIFEST.MF classpath entries to point all ear subcomponents at the library classes - none of these potential solutions has alleviated this problem. In addition, the EJB classes themselves triggering the exception(s) are not helper classes but EJBs that are correctly packaged in their respective EJB-JARS.
    Here is the sun SJSAS 8 classloader hierarchy from the userguide:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/817-6087/dgdeploy.html#wp58491
    Can somebody from the Sun App Server team speak to whether or not this is an Application Server issue? Why should the classloader hierarchy from one enterprise app interfere with any other? Are there known workarounds?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Best, Adam

    Hi Ken,
    I have pretty much ruled out "artifacts" in the Application Server's Classpath, because we already tried reinstalling the Application Server. It is a freshly downloaded SJSAS 8 2005 Q2 downloaded a few days ago with nothing added to the Server Classpath other than a database driver [${com.sun.aas.installRoot}/mysql/lib/mysql-connector-java-3.1.11-bin.jar added to the server CLASSPATH suffix after the PointBase driver(s)].
    Yes, each ear has its own name. Once the two enterprise apps have been created/packaged by the ANT build script (they are the same except for the slight differences in deployment descriptors we discussed earlier), one is renamed and we use the SJSAS administrative console to deploy them, both deploy correctly, without errors and begin listening for connections at their respective context-roots. Each enterprise application has two web-wars, one public/customer facing, and one administrative. The first enterprise app listens on /e (public facing) and /a (administrative) and the second listens on / (public facing) and /admin (administrative).
    Also, you are correct; each ear has its own copy of the LookupServiceHelper class. Again, there is nothing shared on the App Server Classpath other than that jdbc driver for mysql.
    Here is the LookupServiceHelper code:
    package com.acjust.ecommerce.util;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.util.Collections;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Map;

    import javax.ejb.EJBLocalHome;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import javax.naming.NamingException;
    import javax.sql.DataSource;

  • Can't find Datasource?

    everybody,
    I use JBuilder9+weblogic8.1 on OS-- window2000 professional to run EJBDxWL.jpx in my system directory "D:\JBuilder9\samples\Ejb\Ejb11\EjbDxWL",howerver I deploy the peronnel.jar , the errors that
    can't find the Datasource or JDNI is incorrect ! But I have set the DataSource ---"D:\JBuilder9\samples\JDataStore\datastores\employee.jps" and test it successfully. Why can't find the DataSource or JNDI,help me fast!
    Regard !

    This is probably not the best place to post this question, this forum deals with the J2EE SDK develped by Sun. Perhaps you can try posting to a Weblogic resource.

  • Client for EJB

    I've written a EJBean, and client to access it. I am using weblogic 5.x.
    Now in client I've following statement
    javax.naming.Context ctx = new javax.naming.InitialContext(props);
    at this line I'm getting following exception NoClassFoundError: com/sun/javautil/collections/Map...
    I've started weblogicc server and can see the bean is deployed.
    My question is, Map is a class of package java.utils, then why does weblogic search com.sun.java/util etc etc package.
    I hope this question is posted in right group, thouch this is EJB question I'm getting error whike using JNDI.
    help is appreciated

    Yes. weblogic server does use the com/sun/javautil/collections/Map class in its get initial context. this class in lib/unpacked_jars of your weblogic install directory.
    add this path and maybe another jar jsafeWithNative path in your CLASSPATH. it will be ok.

  • Help: Connecting Tomcat to CA-IDMS Using JDBC Type 4 Drivers (JNDI)

    Hi there,
    I have a rather interesting / complex problem......creating a connection to CA-IDMS from Tomcat using JDBC type 4 drivers (CA provide the type 4 driver).
    We have a zSeries 9 IBM mainframe running CA-IDMS r16.1, and I need to connect to the IDMS from Tomcat (running on Linux) using the JDBC Type 4 drivers provided by CA.
    At this stage I am struggling with the actual setup and configuration of Tomcat’s server.xml and web.xml files. These are the files where the JDBC configuration is set (I think). I have to setup the CA-IDMS part of the configuration, but that is a different problem. Basically there is a TCP/IP listener on the IDMS, waiting for incoming connections from the JDBC type 4 driver.
    I set up a Tomcat to MySQL connection using MySQL Connector / J, which is a similar kind of process to what I am trying to achieve with IDMS. MySQL connector / J came with a jar file which is placed in Tomcat’s lib folder, and then the JDBC setup for the web application is created in Tomcat's server.xml and web.xml files. You can then connect to the MySQL database using JSP and the configured JDBC driver / connection. The CA-IDMS Server comes with an idmsjdbc.jar file, which I think is the JDBC typr 4 driver. I think it needs to be placed in the Tomcat /lib folder, but I don’t know how to set up the configuration.
    There is a JDBC DriverManager which allows JDBC drivers to connect to CA-IDMS. The DriverManager recognises the following syntax:
    jdbc:idms://hostname:port/database
    This allows the JDBC driver running within Tomcat to connect to the IDMS which is running on the IDM mainframe. CA IDMS r16 supports direct connections from the Type 4 JDBC driver to the Central Version on IDMS. "hostname" is the DNS name or IP address of the machine where the CV is running, and "port" is the IP port that was specified for the listener PTERM (setup on the IDMS side).
    There is a caidms.properties file for the JDBC driver, which is used to specify user ID, password, and optional accounting information. It can also be used to specify physical connection information, allowing an application to connect to a CA-IDMS database without requiring the definition of an ODBC style data source. However, I don’t know where to place this file within the Tomcat setup.
    There is also an IdmsDataSource class. I don’t know where to configure this or how to set it up; the CA-IDMS Server manual states the following:
    This class implements the JDBC DataSource interface. It is used with an application server (Tomcat) providing Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) naming service to establish a connection to a CA IDMS database. IdmsDataSource properties conform to the Java Beans naming conventions and are implicitly defined by public “setter” and “getter” methods. For example, the “description” property, which is required for all DataSource implementations, is set using the setDescription(String) method. The application server may use the java.lang.reflection methods to discover DataSource properties and provide an interface to set them, or may simply require that they are defined in some configuration file. IdmsDataSource properties are used to specify the connection parameters. These properties are the equivalent of the DriverPropertyInfo attributes described in the previous section and can be used to completely define the parameters needed to connect to a database. Like a URL, an IdmsDataSource object can also reference an “ODBC” style data source name, where the connection parameters are defined in the configuration file on Linux.
    Is there anyone that can try to point me in the right direction to setting up the JDBC connection? I am totally new to Java and so the instructions are not making much sense at the moment. Any help, hints, tips…..anything will be greatly appreciated as I have just hit a brick wall here. I can't find much to do with setting up the CA-IDMS Server JDBC type 4 driver online either....if anyone can point me to some resources that would also be extremely useful.
    Kind regards
    Jp

    You say you've managed to get the JDBC driver working
    in an application but not in a JSP. You also say that
    the error you get is
    "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver".
    I'd be willing to bet that the exception that you have
    got is a ClassNotFoundException. I.E. your application
    server hasn't found the JDBC driver classes. The
    application server probably doesn't use your current
    CLASSPATH to look for classes. It will be setup within
    the application server in some way and you'll need to
    check your app server documentation to see how it is
    done.
    Try replacing
    e.printStackTrace();with
    e.printStackTrace(out);to get a full stack trace of your error.
    ColTried it. Got this error when I tried to run the JSP.
    Incompatible type for method. Can't convert javax.servlet.jsp.JspWriter to java.io.PrintWriter.
              e.printStackTrace(out);
    I'm currently using Apache Tomcat 4.0.3 as my JSP/Servlet Container.
    I'm also using Type 4 MS SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver version 2.0 on my NT4.0 Server.
    Do I need to set my JDBC driver in my container? if so, how do I do that?

  • Need help in connecting to JNDI with JSP

    Hi all
    I am working on LDAP with JNDI, i need to use JSP for front end screens.
    My problem is like this..
    I am not finding a way to pass a user name and password from my jsp file, through JNDI and check for authentication in an LDAP server.
    I am using iPlanet Directory Server as my LDAP server, i have added some users using a JNDI class, and a default password is set for them.
    All I need to do is to authenticate the user for LDAP and return a boolean value to the jsp page and then proceed for further operations.
    I would be thankful if anyone could help me solve this problem, urgent...........
    Thanks
    Swaraj

    Hi
    One way to do this would be:
    1. Write a sample program which will read the username & password as command line parameters. This will authenticate this data against the LDAP server that you have setup. Once you have this working proceed to step2.
    2. Write a Java Bean with two attributes that will hold the username and password. Add a method authenticate user which will contain the code you have written in step 1.
    3. Create a JSP with username & password fields. Let the form post to the same JSP or a different JSP/Servlet.
    4. In the JSP use the <jsp:useBean> tag to create a bean coded in Step 2. The scope bean should be "request". Set the username and password fields using the <jsp:setProperty> tag. Once you have this , just use the beanId from the <jsp:useBean> tag to call the validation method.
    Keep me posted on your progress.
    Good Luck!

  • Do you know how to get Tomcat's JNDI example to work? - Help!

    With regards to the example for JNDI Datasource How-To found on Apache's site at http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html
    I did the example as they explained to. But I keep getting "foo - not connected" when I run the "test.jsp" page on my Tomcat server.
    I made the following changes to the example
    1) don't know if this bears any importance, but I've changed wherever it says "TestDB" to "DBTest"
    2) I changed the portion in bold text in this parameter ---
    <parameter>
    <name>url</name>
    <value>jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/javatest?autoReconnect=true</value>
    </parameter>
    in the server.xml file to localhost:8080 as this is my port # for the tomcat server.
    3) they had the <value> attribute set to org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver so I changed it to the following...was this incorrect for me to do?
    <parameter>
    <name>driverClassName</name>
    <value>com.mysql.jdbc.Driver</value>
    </parameter>
    Questions and noticeable problems
    1) I'm getting a **END NESTED EXCEPTION ** Attempted reconnect 3 times. Giving up.
    at com.mysql.jdbc.Connection.createNewIO(Connection.java:1780)
    at com.mysql.jdbc.Connection.<init>(Connection.java:427)
    at com.mysql.jdbc.NonRegisteringDriver.connect(NonRegisteringDriver.java:395)
    and the list continues (this is in the dos-prompt window that pops up after starting Tomcat). Unforntunately I'm unable to copy and paste it all into this forum. It also has lines similar to above relating to org.apache.commons.dbcp.DriverConnectionFactory etc.
    2)What am I doing wrong? I really want to get this to work....I'm hoping to eventually learn and apply connection pooling to an application....
    3) is there something somewhere that I'm not "configuring" properly?
    Ask me for any information pertinent to this problem I'm having, and I'll try to post a reply with whatever is requested.

    this is my port # for the tomcat server.No, the port number in this case should be the one that the database listener is attached to, not the Tomcat server. Think about what this is doing: it's setting up the database URL, not the Tomcat listener.

    This works. If it's not happening, that means you're doing something wrong. The good news is that you'll find it eventually if you keep digging.

    - Bean A (our application bean) within Application A
    - Bean B (customer-developed bean) within Application B
    - Bean B calls Bean A
    - Bean A + Bean B are different application instances in the same oc4j container
    - Jsp (residing in ApplicationB) within the same oc4j container calling Bean B, which invokes Bean A
    ====
    I get the following exception (classes renamed to match scenario):
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: oracle.apps.applicationa.common.BeanA not found in anothercompany.applicationb.common.BeanB
    [java] at com.oracle.naming.J2EEContext.getSubContext(J2EEContext.java:93)
    [java] at com.oracle.naming.J2EEContext.lookup(J2EEContext.java:76)
    [java] at com.evermind.server.ApplicationContext.lookupJavaCompEnv(ApplicationContext.java:265)
    [java] at com.evermind.server.ApplicationContext.lookupJavaComp(ApplicationContext.java:132)
    [java] at com.evermind.server.ApplicationContext.lookup(ApplicationContext.java:306)
    [java] at com.evermind.server.ApplicationContext.lookup(ApplicationContext.java:120)
    [java] at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:347)
    - BeanA is part of application named "AppA" in server.xml
    - BeanB is part of application named "AppB" in server.xml
    - AppB has attribute 'parent="AppA"' in server.xml
    - If I change the Jsp file (residing in AppB) to call BeanA directly in the jsp code it works with no JNDI error, but changing the jsp code back to calling BeanB (which then calls BeanA) will throw the NameNotFoundException
    My Stateless Session Bean is very simple and I have tried not setting the context and setting the context. I'm thinking this is a very simple configuration issue, but have not been able to find the solution yet... I've tried playing with the setSessionContext method in the session bean but have had no luck and am not sure what to set the variables to or even if I'm in the correct method...
    public void setSessionContext(SessionContext ctx) {
    if (verbose)
    System.out.println("setSessionContext called");
    Properties env = new Properties();
    // tried all three context factories...
    //env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.evermind.server.ApplicationInitalContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
    //env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    // not sure what url to put, if any
    //env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://localhost:23791/AppB");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://localhost/AppB");
    // tried with and without security principals... also tried sysadmin/sysadmin
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "guest");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
    // mProps is a local transient member var of type Properties
    mProps = env;
    // mCtx is a local transient member var of type SessionContext
    mCtx = ctx;
    (edit) additional info:
    - all beans/classes are in the same classes directory; there are no jar files, so in application.xml the specified classpath is "classes" which includes both appA and appB classes
    - I verified that if I point (appB) jsp directly to BeanA it works with the "parent" attribute set on appB in server.xml, and when I remove the "parent" attribute on appB in server.xml the jsp throws a NameNotFoundException
    edit #2:
    another interesting note is that the exception message says "oracle.apps.applicationa.common.BeanA not found in anothercompany.applicationb.common.BeanB"
    and usually the naming error I see is:
    "oracle.apps.applicationa.common.BeanA not found in appB"
    (as with the case when I use a jsp to access appA beans without setting the parent application of appB to appA)
    - also my j2ee/home/applications/appB/WEB-INF/web.xml includes the oracle.apps.applicationa.common.BeanA ejb-ref tag
    any help is appreciated - thanks!

    Hi Steve
    thanks for the reply - I currently have the parent attribute set in server.xml which is why the jsp connection works, but for some strange reason the bean cannot connect to other bean...
    my server.xml has something like...
    <application name="appA" location="appA" auto-start="true"/>
    <application name="appB" location="appB" parent="appA" auto-start="true"/>
    (ok, the tags might be off because I'm not in front of my workstation looking at the xml file...)
    on another interesting note, in the session bean for AppB I've tried searching for the ejb bean for app B (itself basically) with the default initial context and it cannot find its own bean within the same application... the message would be something like "NameNotFoundException: anothercompany.applicationb.common.BeanB not found in anothercompany.applicationb.common.BeanB"

  • Please Help.  How can you monitor a directory using jndi connection to a ldap server?

    How can you monitor a directory using jndi connection to a ldap server? I
    want the ldap server to monitor the content change in a file system
    directory on another computer on the network. Can someone please help.
    Thanks
    Fred

    Hi,
    Why do you want to use LDAP for Hard disk monitoring..???
    U can do this by creating a MD5 checksum for all the files existing in some
    perticular
    directory and every hour or any configurable period u can recalculate the
    checksum
    to find out the change in the content.
    I guess all u need is to get the code for "updatedb" utility of Linux and
    instrument it for ur needs..
    Hope it helps...

  • JNDI NIS object access problem: urgent help

    Hi all,
    After long fight, i'm now able to connect to my NIS server on my network. the initial context factory is 'com.sun.jndi.nis.NISCtxFactory' and provider url are given and i obtain namingennumeration of items in the NIS directory.
    purpose of my project:
    using ypcat command we can view the services,passwd,host... objects in unix.
    my project requirement is that i shd open this 'services' object in java (using JNDI probably) and shd access its content.
    i'm able to obtain the object and the type of this object is 'NISCtxServices' defined in 'com.sun.jndi.nis.NISCtxFactory' package, but all the classes and methods except some are not public and so im not able to use almost all the methods in this class 'NISCtxServices' .
    Can any one help me in accessing the information inside this object.
    Thanks in advance! and i'm waiting!

    It's because JFrame does not have a public progessbar variable, only your subclass has that.
    //change this
    JFrame frame = new ProgressBarDemo();
    //to this
    ProgressBarDemo frame = new ProgressBarDemo();

  • Javax.naming.LinkException  JNDI error Help please

    Hello All,
    I am trying my first bean on Weblogic 7 and can't seem to get the deployment descriptor correct. The home
    interface is, ObjectIDLocalHome and the full class name is com.oga.gserve.biz.oid.ObjectIDLocalHome. I am
    using the fully qualified class name so that I can do an EJBHomeFactory latter on.
    I have used the WLS console and see my bean in the JNDI tree I also used the following to find it:
    public static void loop(final Context ctx, final String name) throws Exception {
    try {
    String local;
    NamingEnumeration childrenOfNaming = ctx.list(name);
    while (childrenOfNaming.hasMore()) {
    NameClassPair ncPair = (NameClassPair) childrenOfNaming.next();
    System.out.print(ncPair.getName() + " (type ");
    System.out.println(ncPair.getClassName() + ")");
    if (name.length() > 0) {
    local = name + "." + ncPair.getName();
    } else {
    local = ncPair.getName();
    loop(ctx, local);
    } catch (javax.naming.CannotProceedException e) {
    // We are at a leaf, no more children.
    I find ObjectIDLocalHome as type javax.naming.LinkRef, as a leaf of com.oga.gserve.biz.oid
    So I know it exist!
    But why as a javax.naming.LinkRef?
    Now when I try the following:
    String cName = ObjectIDLocalHome.class.getName();
    ObjectIDLocalHome home = (ObjectIDLocalHome) ctx.lookup(cName);
    I get:
    javax.naming.LinkException: . Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve
