  • Sun would like your help with the "System Name Already In Use"  error

A couple of users have reported getting an erroneous "System Name Already in Use" error when re-registering a system after a fresh Solaris re-install. We'd like your help in tracking down this problem.
    The scenario is this:
    * Install Solaris 10 and register with updatemanager,
    * Wipe out the installation and re-install Solaris.
    * re-register with updatemanager.
The system erroneously reports that the system name is already in use. It is supposed to detect a duplicate registration of the same system.
We have not been able to reproduce this error in our lab.
If this has happened to you, would you let us know at [email protected]?
Here are the things that we would like to ask of you:
    * If you run "updatemanager -debug" if will create a log file /tmp/basicreg<timestamp>.log.
    * Details on the exact hardware you have (make/model/configuration).
    * Details on the steps you took to get to the bad state. REALLY detailed!
    Thanks!
Based on what we know now, we believe you can work around the issue by either:
    * Changing the host name and re-registering.
    * Creating a different user account and registering the host to that account.
Some previously-posted workarounds are known NOT to work:
    * Wait 24 hours and try again.
    * Do some "ccr" incantations and try again.

    Hi,
Can you drop me an email as i am a sun employee and i will be able to check if the swup frontline team have received any support cases on this issue and then we can work with you directly to resolve the issue.

  • Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': The definition specifies a claim provider with a name already in use.

    Hi,
When i am trying to deploy sharepoint 2010 application in VS 2010, i am getting the below error:
"Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': The definition specifies a claim provider with a name already in use."
    How to fix this?
    Thank you

    You can use:
    $provider = Get-SPClaimProvider | where {$_.DisplayName -eq "Provider DisplayName"}
    $mgr = Get-SPClaimProviderManager
    $mgr.ClaimProviders.Remove($prov)
    $mgr.Update()

After IOS6 upgrade game centre says my nick name already in use. has reset some games back to beginning, how do i fix

I've had almost every issue you've had.  Finally on Friday the screen blacked out.  It was obviously still charged, since I could hear the message ring, but when I tried to light up the display it didn't light so I was unable to get to it unless I removed the battery.  Then, as soon as the display timed out, I couldn't get it lit up again without removing battery.  I had the same slow movements throughout the display as well as slow text messaging.  Every issue you had other than the alarm clock (that always worked well).
I took it in yesterday and, after over an hour spent there with a 'professional', I still had no answers.  He told me to come home and copy everything from my sd card to my computer, then re-format my card.  Well, my phone didn't even recognize that I had an sd card installed!!  Nor did my computer!
So then I got to experimenting...I removed the card and viola!!!!!!  The phone worked GREAT!  It's never worked so fast!  I then installed my husbands sd card to see if it was my phone's card reader or my card.  Turns out that the phone still worked great with his card installed and it did recognize his card in my phone.  So, my conclusion is that I need a new card.  I couldn't believe the difference in speed of everything!  It's like a brand new phone!
As for the hard reset...I did that over the weekend, before I could get to a verizon store.  It didn't work at all.
I'd say, do the same thing I did and see if that works.  Can't hurt!!!  Please keep me posted.  I'd like to see what you find out
    Good Luck!!!!

  • [EJB:011055]Error deploying the EJB with error that JNDI name already inuse

    Hi,
I have written a trivial application consisting of 4 stateless beans and 1 MDB. The ear is developed from some code generator tool and works fine if I directly deploy on weblogic server 812.
But in order to learn Weblogic Workshop I created new Application and EJB project. Then I imported the EJB jar and provided other source files.
From Weblogic Workshop I could generate the ear successfully. But while trying to deploy the ear I get the following exception :

  • Name already in use

Frequently, after waking from sleep, my imac (3.2 ghz intel core 3, 4 gb RAM, OSX Lion 10.7.4) tells me that the (host name) is already in use, and a new name has been assigned.  I find a number of posts on this topic from 2009 - 2010, related to Leopard users, but nothing recent.  Any help on this problem?

If you already power cycled the modem, then log into the modem and manually delete the dns entry for that machine.  Your configuration might be holding onto that machine name for some odd reason.

  • Cannot Update App-V 5.0 SP3 DB Server 'the specified name already in use'

    We planned to update our App-V  server from App-V 5.0 SP1 to App-V 5.0 SP3
2 Servers (Both are Management Servers and Publishing Servers) with a remote SQL (2008 R2)
we verified that all the registry keys exists according to the the
    Technet Document
when we ran the setup file on the server we chose to install all of the roles and we got to the error:
the specified name is already in use. you must provide a unique name database name
The DB is already exist! we just want to update it to SP3 as well...
So we installed all the roles but Management Server DB and the installation completed successfully,
but now we still have a problem as the server can't connect to the DB (probably because it hasn't been updated)
    now we get this error:
there were problems interacting with the database on the server. The error was: Invalid culomn name 'PackageOptional'.
    Invalid culomn name 'VersionOptional'
we ran the setup with a domain admin that has full admin priviledges either on the App-V Servers and the SQL.
we can't run the setup.exe on the SQL Server itself as it hosts many other DBs and doesn't have .Net Framework 4.5.1... besides the fact the DBAs don't really want to do it.
we tried to backup the DB, attach it on a local SQL (under the App-V Server) , changed the registry keys to direct to the local DB and we got the same errors when we tried to run the upgrade!
how come the documentation doesn't have anything about updating the DB?
    another question I couldn't figure out. can I use App-V Server 5.0 SP3 with App-V Client 5.0 SP2 HF4?
    anyway - please help!
    thanks!!
    Tamir Levy

One more thing, I know how to expand the DB Scripts and run them manually on the SQL Server,
but from my understanding, it is only to create new DBs and not to update the DB Tables...
anyhow, I don't think the DB update should be such a complex and unfriendly method, especially when I took the DB and put it on a local SQL! this should be updated with a simple "Next , Next" Setup...
    Thanks
    Tamir Levy
At the current time, there is some contradictory information available on technet.  On one side, the Planning for High Availability document describes how
to extract the database scripts and run them against a SQL host so you don't have to run the EXE directly on the SQL host (yes, this does upgrade the tables too, not just create new ones, apparently the order to execute them is wrong).  On the other side,
the App-V 5.0 SP3 Support Configurations indicates that any installation where you do not run the EXE on the SQL server is unsupported.
As an enterprise customer who has SQL in a failover cluster, this confuses me.  I cannot run the installer on the SQL server (like you, and many other enterprise customers).  And even if I could, it doesn't mean the database would exist on the
SQL server that it was run against, as the database can failover and nodes could be rebuilt!
In regards to versions, when I said SP2 it was actually SP1.  You are correct, there were no server upgrades for SP2.
Please be aware, I did not get the instructions to edit the database from Microsoft.  I provided them the steps I performed to get the application to work and I'm sharing them.  I am still waiting to hear back from them to see if this will be a
supported path or not.  The setup was written to be executed directly on the SQL box, which is an unrealistic expectation for enterprise customers.  Even previous versions had to be extracted and applied via SQL scripts!
The command above, from Alan, is part of the database scripts.  If you extract the scripts using /layout and /layoutdir (as described in Planning for High Availability),
you will see a script called UpdateTables.sql.  This is a part of the script, not the whole thing.  There is more logic in this script that is required to get your publishing server up and running:
It deletes all the daat from SchemaVersion then inserts a value of 2 into it.  If this doesn't happen, you'll get weird errors when trying to receive publishing information.
If you can wait a few days for the upgrade, I would recommend that.  I expect some more documentation from Microsoft to come out and clear some of this up.

  • Keep getting error message about my computers local host name already in use

I keep getting the following random error message popping up on my desktop. The last time it said the same thing, but imac-2.local? Haven't changed anything to my knowledge.
This computer’s local hostname “glen-cumbuss-imac-2.local” is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to “XXXXX-XXXXXXX-imac-3.local”.

Sometimes this message means that you have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
If that's not the issue, shut down any virtual machines (Parallels, VMware, or VirtualBox) that are running.
Sometimes there's no identifiable reason for the behavior.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane.

  • Device or Device Name already in use?

After installing the latest PC Suite over an old version I notice when I connect my 6300, 6288 or N74 {any phone!} via USB the message in the subject line pops up and as a result I am only able to connect as a storage device not via the PC Suite.
After many exhaustive methods of uninstalling and installing I found a way.
    First uninstall every thing to do with Nokia via the usual way {note if when clicking on the uninstall feature you only get the installer package like I did then you would need a third party uninstaller like Advanced Uninstaller 2007 or similar. the drag and drop feature of just the Nokia desktop icon is all thats required to uninstall}
Remove the program file directory "nokia"
Do a system back up before proceding. start/programs/accesories/system restore/backup.After you have done the backup Then click start/run/{type}regedit/{ensure the tree is collapsed}/edit/find/{type}nokia/{ensure keys, values and data boxes are checked}/{click}find next/
    delete found key/to continue press f3 and do the same it will take some time about an hour. then do the same again but type in pc suite instead of nokia, when all done reboot and do again, also a good idea would be to use a 3 party reg clean tool to polish the job, I found "Registry Checkup" to be very good without being to much of a cleaner that it gives you trouble. I found with this it was able to remove 77 empty keys. reboot again and the pc suite install went very well and connectivity wasn't a problem {note when using regedit you will need administrator rights to remove some keys/values}

  • Setting Up SAP JVM in Eclipse IDE: JRE name is already in use

In documentation "Setting Up SAP JVM in Eclipse IDE" (https://help.hana.ondemand.com/help/frameset.htm?7613eaad711e1014839a8273b0e91070.html) a definition for a JRE must be added, although in step before that one a JRE has been created.
If one tries to really add another definition and chooses the directory C:\...\sapjvm-7.1.018-windows-x64\sapjvm_7, then the message comes up: "The JRE name is already in use".
Was the wrong directory choosen, is this action really needed, what please has to be done at this point during Getting Started?

The directory is correct. However, if you have already started Eclipse with that JRE, it is automatically added to the list of Installed JREs. Hence the "name already in use" message when you try to add it again manually. In short, you can safely skip this step now.

Does the JNDI name referenced in weblogic.xml need to be the same as that defined
in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml? No. ejb-ref mechanism allows you to map an actual ejb jndi name to one used by your
application - so, in theory, system administrator can change jndi names without
touching your application code. You do not see it in the global JNDI tree because
this mapping exists only in the context of your application.
