Job appears in print queue but doesn't print

Question

Here's the setup:
HP Laserjet 1606dn connected via USB to XP computer. From this computer printer works fine. Printer is shared on the network.
On another XP machine on the network, ran Add Printer, printer was detected and installed and everything works fine.
On a Vista computer on the network, ran Add Printer. Printer was detected, everything installed apparently correctly.
When I print a test page from the Vista machine, the job appears in the print queue on the XP machine. It stays there for about 60 seconds. The status is "printing". The job then disappears and nothing prints.
Any ideas about what to try next?

Take a look at these instructions from eHow, and let me know if they fix the problem for you. (Generally, I just turn my printer off and back on, and that does the trick.)
