I am out of my league here. I was asked to create a web mounted and fillable PDF application form. It has a "submit by email" button. The idea is that anyone can access the PDF form, fill it out online, hit submit and it be emailed straight to my boss.
I amde one, it is mounted to our library website, and can be filled out. But the button isn't working. When I pull it up locally, the button works, but only through my Outlook do I have success sending it. My boss is getting some attempts at the application through email, but she recieves them empty. We think people are filling it out, not having success with the button, saving it (which in turn clears the form), attatching it to an email, and sending it straight to the library email address. When we get these, they are completely blank. But I did some tests and opened the job application once I have saved it to my computer, filled it out, saved, then emailed, and the info is there. But its too many steps. We need it to be easier. Buttons we like buttons.
Any insight would be extremely helpful. Why isn't what I have made with Adobe LiveCycle working?

I had similar issues with a form I was doing. Have you tried saving the form as a "reader optimized PDF". To do this follow instructions below;
Open form in Adobe Professional
Click File>Save As>Reader Extended PDF>Enable Additional Features
Read the prompt and then select Save Now
Save your file with a name
This should allow all buttons to work properly and the form should have information saved into the fields.

Creating job application page, help.

I have a job application document that people are able to type into the correct places. I was wondering how I could put this into one of my webpages so people can still type into the correct places and when they click submit their filled in application is sent to me. If there is a way to do this or if there is any alternative for a job application page please respond to this email. Any help is greatly appreiated.

You'll need to basically re-create the form (I'm assuming it's in Word or PDF format or something similar?) in html using the <form> tag and several <input> tags for the text fields and areas.
Everything for creating the form will be under Insert > Form in DW
First you go to Insert > Form > Form and place the actual <form> tagset that will hold everything. Then you use a combination of input text boxes, text areas, check boxes, radio buttons and more from Insert > Form to get the user inputs placed.
It's relatively straight forward, though getting everything aligned the way you like takes a little more effort. If you poke around online for "Creating forms in Dreamweaver" there are tons of places that give you the basics.
Once you have the page created, that's when you get the server side script and attach your form to it. What you choose for a processing script depends on what your server supports. Most will support PHP, which is what they use in the link I gave you.

They all seem to require Adobe Flash Player which cannot be downloaded onto an iPad. Skyfire does not solve the problem. They all load without vital parts of the site such as tabs, links and correct formatting. Any suggestions?

Most such brower/service combinations have a difficult time working with Flash-based apps and often fail completely. Flash videos are usually the most successful content these browers can handle. You can try the others apps - Puffin, iSwifter, etc - but you may find that none of them work, in which case you will not be able to use your iPad with these sites other than by using one of the various remote control solutions to take over a computer running the full Flash Player.
IMHO, any developer that built a Flash application for a billing or job application site was an idiot, but I know that's out of the control of anyone but the relevant company.

* Open up PDF file
* Select the text using the built in computer tool
* Right click and select copy
* Find where you insert the text for your resume and right click again then select paste

I have done a bit of research on this but have found no answers, maybe you can help.
I want to make a job application form in indesign as an interactive PDF. I know the submit button will send the form information to an e-mail address which is half of what I am after, however I am also looking for an "attach resume" type thing. After posting in the Indesign forum they suggested I come here.
I know there is forms central which is ok, however I am after a bit more flexibility with the layout and input.
In summary, an option to be able to attach a file to an interactive PDF. I have seen the comment/mark up option, but I feel this would be too complicated for job applicants to get.

Assuming the file is going to be used in Reader, the Attach a File commenting tool is the only option.
Of course, you can always ask the users to attach the file to the email, instead of to the PDF...

Not knowing the format/design of the employer's website, it's difficult to know.
Why not send your resume via regular mail or email. Just fill out the application the way the employer wants you to.

From Safari on iOS (iPad or iPhone) you can't. Teh only files you can upload are image files.
There are some other browser available, such as iCab Mobile, that include document storage and do permit this. No guarantee it would work on every site however (depends on how the upload field is set up).

Filling out Job application.. Turning off autofill. Help!

I am filling out a job application online. The application is in pdf format. It's an application that you don't have to print out, you just click submit when it is filled out. My problem is that any field that is labeled the same, the form automatically fills it in for me using the previous information. For example, the application asked me for my address. I typed it in and any other field that is labeled address filled in also. So when I got down to my previous employment information, it asked for the address of the company I worked for... and it was already filled in with my home address. When I changed it to the company's address, it changed my home address to that also. Help! I've tried everything.

It sounds like the form was built incorrectly. As you've noticed, if the fields have the same names, they will autofill with the same info. That isn't a setting on your end that you can change but rather one that is embedded in the PDF.

FormsCentral is a lot more reliable and much more secure than email sending by email, and for the type of information that's typically in an employment application, security is a good idea. You always have the option of setting it up to send you an email notification whenever a form is submitted, and you can download responses as a filled-in PDFs.

Trying to use my iPad to apply for jobs online. However, most companies require you to apply online and their online job applications require you to upload resumes and other documents. Is there any way to do this with IOS 6 or with third party apps?

You will not be able to do this with Safari, but there are some third party browsers that contain document storage. iCab Mobile is worth looking into:
It provides a docujment storage within the aopp that you can access to upload in mnay cases
It also allows you to change the browser ID to a non mobile browser which in mnay cases will open up site functionlaity that would otherwise be disabled by the site (due to a mobile browser being identified).

Terminate job applications via the APIs in Oracle HR

Hello, we're trying to terminate a few thousand job applications which have been hanging
in the database for many years.
Looking for a programmatic solution we looked at
hr_application_api.update_apl_details
but it seems it cannot close the application, only update the "details", as the
name suggests. We also tried
hr_person_type_usage.update_person_type_usage
to change the person type to ex applicant, but, while the person type is
correctly changed, the applications remains open, creating some inconsistency
in the data.
Is there any solution to properly terminate these applications via the public APIs?

Resume and job application hardware and software?

What software and hardware is best/most efficient/stable to send out resume and fill in job applications? I have 1-15 minutes of time slots that I would like to use to find a better job. I would like to find something small enough to carry with me and not be noticed. Also how about the services used to connect the hardware, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint... Any wisdom is appreciated. My resume was made with pages. Thank you!

Timer Job job-application-server-admin-service spiking CPU after every minute

Hi all,
I have an issue in my SP2010 Farm that all the servers spiking CPU to 100% after a minute or so. I have drilled down and found that the following timer jon is the culprit.
Timer Job job-application-server-admin-service. If I change the service running to 2 minutes (default is 1 Min) then the spikes comes after every 2 minutes.
Please suggest what I can do about this?

Was it working fine previously. If yes, what changes happened which caused this issue
1. Check the ULS + Eventviewer logs at the time when this issue happens.
2. Collect perflog files and execute PAL on that this will give you the complete analysis of processes and performance at that time.

Fix the problem
Manually clear the file system cache on the local servers (fe's) on which the timer service is running (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939308)
Stop the SharePoint Timer Service in Administrative Tool/Services.
Go to the cache folder. For Windows Server 2008: Drive:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config
Find the folder that contains the file Cache.ini
Delete all the XML configuration files in the folder so that you can verify that the folder is replaced by new XML files when the cache is rebuilt.
Open the Cache.ini file, delete all content in the file and type 1, save and exit.
Start the SharePoint Timer service
