Attr change run in Process chain!

Hi,
For uploading Master data, we do have different process chains ( Eight to Nine ) for each client and for each source system!
Now the requireement is such that there must be only two Two process chains one for daily uploads and another for weekly uploads!
i coule create a Meta chain which shall be calling all the daily upload Process chains in series!
But what about the attribute change runs?
i had actually included this Attr change run process for each client comibing the other process chains ( Attr, Texts and Hierarchy )
Now since the modelling has been changed for the daily and weekly process chains, i am puzzled about the attribute change run processes!
Because we have lot of infoobjects which are existing in both the clients
Any ideas?

Hi Raj,
You can solve your problem in 2 ways :
1.Include Attr.change run in each of your local PC or,
2.In your Meta chain ..arrange your Local Chains in parallel
& have a single Attr.change process...here you can select your object type as Infoobject & include all your Infoobjects... one after another... for which you want to run the Attr.change.

Is there a program to run the att change run. I have several att and hier loading via process chain and I want to execute the program if we have any to execute the attr change run at the end of the process chain. I came accross with RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN, is this the correct one?

Hi,
yes, its the right one.
To avoid activating all pending infoobjects and rollup in aggregates, which can take hours if you have many and big aggregates, create a variant where you select the infoobjects and hierarchies from your process chains. You can trigger an event after successfull loading and laoding with failures. You can select this variant in the process step.
Othwerwise you may risk that another load process may abort because the locks for master data cannot be set because of the change run.

Attr change run failed with exception

hi all,
My process chain failed at ACR( attr change run) with exception
"UNCAUGHT EXCEPTION" ...I 've again scheduled that process but it again
got failed.
I am not able to undestand what is the problem?
does anybody have any idea how to resolve this?

Attr change run for huge PC!

Hi,
I have 30 infopackages which i had included in a new process chain and for all infoobjects i had created only one attr chnage run by including all the relevant info objects in the variant of aatr change run!
there are actauuly some parellel processes as well in the end of PC!
So how should i connect the attr change run process to the PC!
just connecting to any of the IP s is OK? or i need to connect every IP to the attr change run which are ending the chain?

You can design your PC.
If you are running change run after every load then you may run into change run locking issues...
You can do onething load all attributes .. run the change once then...
Load all hiers.. then run change run once...
then load text...

Attr change run cannot preceed Data Load?

Hi, all
I need to make attr change run before loading data, because these active MD should be used in data loading routines. When checking this chain BW shows message " A type "Attribute Change Run" process cannot precede process "Execute InfoPackage" var. ZPAK_E5NXARYHE6BXRST2FD3YZAN7B in the ch".
Why? Is that because change run only activated and chain doesnt wait for change run end and starts next process?
Or I can suppress this warning?

Why? I think it isn't for no particular reason.

normaly attribute/hierarchy change run is performed after all data loading finished, it should put after the infopackage process.

But here I need to schedule another load after this change run. And I want to use results of this change run in this load.
BTW, when running this chain I have dump on this infopackage load with OPEN_DATASET_NO_AUTHORITY on lines
OPEN DATASET L_PFILENAME FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE
 ENCODING DEFAULT
 IGNORING CONVERSION ERRORS.
When I schedule this package manually everyting is OK.

Error while realigning aggregates through master data attr. change run

Hi all,
We are using Sales Overview cube (SD_C03) on which we have built aggregates. now during the master data attribute change run it tries to realign the aggregate once the master data is loaded via Process chain. In this step we are facing an error:
"Error while procesing aggregate <aggregate technical name>"
From ST22 we can find
Database error text........: "ORA-14400: inserted partition key does not map to any partition"
Internal call code.........: "[RSQL/INSR//BIC/F200009 ]".
Whereas from SM21 we can find out:
Database error 14400 at INS access to table /BIC/F200009.
/BIC/F200009 is the fact table of one of the aggreates we have. really looking forward to your valuable suggestion.

Attr changes runs for all Infoobject in a process chain

Hi,
I have a process chain for the master data ( ATTR, TEXT and HIER),I want a Hierarchy/attribute change run like a last process in my chain and actives all the InfoObject and Hierarchy.
How can I carry out the structural changes for all InfoObject in a process chain?

yes but it requests me a variant. then a layout "execute infopackage", then the attr change doesn´t have Object.
I don´t know what I do?

Master data loads vs attr change runs

Hi experts,
I need to load master data daily and want to know the difference between attribute change runs and process chains for master data. Please explain with steps. I know how to create process chains.

Attribute change run is nothing but adjusting the master data after its been loaded from time to time so that it can change or generate or adjust the sid's so that u may not have any problem when loading the trasaction data in to data targets.
Whenever master data attributes or hierarchy is loaded an attribute chnage run need to be performd due to the following reasons:
1. When a master data is changed/updated it gets loaded into the master data table as version "M"(modified). It is only after a attribute chnage run that the master data becomes activated i.e. version "A".
2. Master data attributes and hierachies are used in cube aggregates also. So to do update the latest master data attributes values in the aggregtes attribute change run need to be performed.

Attr Change Run Master Data Infoobject PChain

In the master data process chain process type Attribute Change Run which is usually at the end of the chain updates the changes in the master data infoobjects.
The Chain is usually designed with full infopacks and say if it is scheduled every night , isn't it loading the master data again ( duplicating ) and again even though considering the process type Attribute Change Run at the end.
Is it like just the attribute change run is executed for updates ?If thats the case why do we need a process chain for Masterdata...if its only one time full ..that can be done manually right?
Am I missing something here ...?

If you look at the detail in the Monitor for a Master Data load, it will tell you how many recordssent from R/3 and how many records were updated and inserted.
As far as static master data that deos not regularly have new records or changes - you're right you don't need to load those objects daily, they could be loaded perhaps monthly.
You might consider balancing how fancy you try to get with breaking up master data into different groups, loading some daily, and other sweekly, others monthly, etc. In our case we use to have a fairly elaborate master data load schedule, loading someobjects 1st Tuesday of the month, others 2nd, Tues, others 3rd etc, and then we had weekly loads and dailys. When I began to review the run times involved, it was apparent that the various monthly loads, in total, ran less than 10 minutes, so I just consolidated the 4 differently monthly maser data loads and the weekly loads all into a single process chain. While much of the this master data doesn't change much, it was much easier to just schdule mastr data either daily or weekly, rather than getting too elaborate.
Now if run time of master data loads or change runs sarts to become an issue, then you might have to adopt a more elaborate schedule. It really depends on your environment.

Issue with Attribute change run

today one of my team memeber has killed attrribute change run, after that when we tried to use option maintain master data, a message were coming attrtibute has cancelled, please re run, even we were not able to load same infobjects, getting message, master data is locked, when it tried to see data in p table then i was getting few entries having delate and insert image( example for infoobject 0customer for customer number c100 two entries one with d flga other one with in flag.)
First i went in t code se14, i put all tables name then cliecked on activate and adjust data.
Even though problem persist,
Also i was not getting any infobjects in lsit( from rsa1-> tools-> attr change run)
Then i created one dummy process chain with process type attr change run and included only inoobject with which i was facing data load issue.
Please advice on my step.

Hi,
Goto RSATTR Tcode -> Click on Tab Monitor and Start Terminated Change Run -> system will open a new screen -> here you can see the failed change run, please rerun this failed change run and then try to load data, after successful change run things will be normal.
SAP Clearly suggest NOT TO KILL OR CANCEL Change Run Job. If this don't solve you issue, you may need to look for some SAP Note.

Attribute Change Run- For Custom InfoObject

We have custom IO ZGN_PROD. For past few days attribute change run is not happening to this IO even though there are thousands of M version entries in P table. We have tried to use Report RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN for attribute change run but then also it is not going through. When we debug this report we found out that there is SQL statement in Report RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN which is not getting executed successfully.
SQL Statement is
UPDATE (<l_sx_itab>-name)
 SET objvers = rs_c_ojbvers-active
 changed = rs_c_changed-nothing
 where objvers = rs_c_objvers-modified
 AND changed = rs_c_changed-insert.
After execution of this SQL Sy-subrc is 4 instead of 0.
What could be the reason.
Can you please help me resolve this issue?

Haven't really looked at the object types in the process chain (we're still using event chains here for the most part), but I would be inclined to leave it as, and only change it if you have a problem.
The process chain tool drags steps into the chain by default, e.g drop and build index, attr change run. That doesn't mean you have to keep them in the chain. If you do not have hierarchies in your aggregates, you could remove the step. Now of course, the burden falls on you to remember to add it if you ever create an aggregate with a hierarchy in it.
Of course the next would be, if most of your queries use a hierarchy, you would probably want the hierarchy in the aggregate, otherwise the aggregate isn't going to be used.

Regarding Attribute Change Run failure.

We have a process chain which contains many meta chains.
Now in each chain i mean meta chain there are attribute change runs
We have desegregated the attribute change run. is tere any method to place a check for attribute change run locks because at the last i have another attribute change run which is failing every day because of the attribute change run is still happenign in some chain.
how do i implement it?

Hi Janardhan,
In master data process chain where you have added process of attribute change, just insert a program before this process:
The program is: RSDDS_CHANGERUN_MONITOR
This program will check for any another attr change run running at that time and if there's any other attr change run runnning locking the object which your next attr change run requires then this program will not allow your attr change run to run.
Once all the locks all cleared for attr change run it will trigger the next node.
This program has a do loop which keeps on checking until unless locks are cleared.

Change Run performance

Hi all,
we've being having problems with the attr change run, it's been taking too long. We heard of a setting for the % of change of master data to run the change run process. How does it work and how can we set this ? We need to do delta master data load for this to work, or it can be used with full load too ?
Is there any other consideration to improve this process times ?

How about the % of master data change. I found it is set on transaction SPRO, and still have a couple of questions:
1) Do i need to load master data using delta to use this ?
2) What if I set a 30% of master data change for the pocess, then a 0CUSTOMER attribute change and it doesn't represent a 30% of change, this means that the change run is not going to run and 0CUSTOMER won't be updated for the aggregates ?

Attribute Change run failed due to the User Lock

if master data is loading at same time while the attr/hier change run is occuring,it cause the change run to fail.
Usually u get error message like..user ALEREMOTE has locked the MD tables..
Wait for some time and then try attr change run manually by going to rsa1->tools->apply hier/attr change..
if it still shows locked..try to see in rsmo if a MD load has got stuck..
else..see in sm12 to find lock is on which tables..
last resort..delete lock forcefully from sm12..
first option is wait for some time and give a try again..
