Job scheduling in DB13 for DB2 systems

Hi,
I have installed ERP 6.0 SR3 with DB2 v9.1 FP5.
Please let me know what are the jobs I have to schedule in DB13 to improve the DB performance and the frequency of jobs.

  • Help! job scheduled in DB13 cannot run successfully

Hi! I am a basis administrator of an automobil company.
Job scheduled in DB13 in our PRD system cannot run successfully.
We have Central instance(ci) and Database instance(db) installed on seperated hosts. We use SUN cluster 3.1 technology.
The problem occurs after my college restarted the whole system accidentally. After that, all the job scheduled in DB13 report the same error, job log looks like:
    Job started
Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000192, user ID ***)
No application server found on database host - rsh will be used
Execute logical command BRCONNECT On host orahost
    Parameters: -u / -c -f check
    BR801I BRCONNECT 6.20 (113)
BR252E Function fopen() failed for '/oracle/PR1/sapcheck/cduuoiij.chk' at location main-8
BR253E errno 2: No such file or directory
I manually type the 'rsh' command on ci to invoke 'brconnect' on db. It works all right. And I check the rfc destination 'SAPXPG_DBDEST_ORAHOST' in sm59 , it's normal. There is no gateway instance on database server.
The parameter 'SAPDBHOST' = orahost (the database server is  called orahost)
the parameter 'SAPLOCALHOST' = cihost(the central instance is located on cihost)
    Any suggestion is very appreciated.
    Thx!

    Hi Joe,
DB13 will run only on application server as for that matter any SAP program. It will then connect to database at OS level. I mean you normal reports also fetch data from database for which they have to connect to DB  but they all run on application server. The problem is coming in connection to database through the application layer.
Please again review the OSS notes sent by Sunil and me. I think a greater focus on Sunil`s notes should help you out.
    Regards.
    Ruchit.

    Hi,
not sure if the recommendations given will address this issue.
    You are getting this error:
BR0301E SQL error -1017 at location BrDbConnect-2, SQL statement:
    'CONNECT /'
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    the log file indicates:
    > No application server found on database host - rsh/gateway will be used
This indicated that the user that is connecting from the AS to the DB server is not properly configured to perform the DB tasks on it.
So, first question would be to know if you have configured a gateway on the DB server and how, or if you are using remote shell.
Second question, you can do backups on the DB server.
    > I can run backupjob sucessfully directly from BRtools on database server
How did you run exactly the backup job (what is the exact command line, what is the exact OS user that executed it)?
What is the OS of the DB server?
I have reread your post, your OS is windows therefore you fall in the "typical" error in Windows.
You have executed your backup as <sid>ADM and it works. Unfortunatelly, in windows, SAP is exectuted by SAPSERVICE<sid>, and this is the user who should be connecting to your DB server, and this is the user who cannot execute the backup.
The fact that you can run the backup with <sid>ADM in Windows does not means that you have SAPService<sid> properly configured.
For the error (see before) I think your ops$ user for this user is not properly configured in the DB server. take a look at the note mentioned by KT and pay attention to the SAPSERVICE<sid> configuration

  • Looking for a third party 'job system/job scheduler'

    Hello,
We have tried using OEM Job and now want to also look at third party Job Scheduling applications. Please advice of such other products. Was thinking of AppWorks. Thank you.

AppWorx, now UC4, is one possibility but there is little, if anything, they can do that can not be done through the proper use of the DBMS_SCHEDULER package.
I would suggest that, before you spend or waste money, you look at the docs on DBMS_SCHEDULER and determine that there is something you need that you have not already purchased. Using OEM to schedule jobs is far from giving you access to the full functionality.

  • ANNOUNCE:::::::: EJB job scheduler for Weblogic

Paramus, NJ - June 26, 2001 - Indus Consultancy Services today announced
an upgrade release of its Java scheduling product. Kronos Enterprise
Scheduler is a full-featured job scheduling system written for the
    Enterprise Java (J2EE) environment.
As a J2EE application, Kronos Enterprise Scheduler is able to achieve a
high degree of portability, scalability, and reliability, features which
are critical to an enterprise system.
Additionally, Kronos Enterprise Scheduler provides a comprehensive set
of scheduling options, powerful holiday definitions, job dependencies,
administrative alerts, J2EE security integration, monitoring
capabilities, Web and "rich client" user interfaces, and an open
developer API. The combination of these features make Kronos Enterprise
Scheduler one of the most complete solutions on the market today.
Version 2.10 contains a number of minor enhancements and bug fixes and
is a free upgrade for current customers.
For more information on Kronos, please visit our products page at

I would hope that BEA will step up and develop a replacement for their
deprecated APIs. It is unfair to ask their customers to buy something they
got previously for free. I also understand that the future EJB spec will
    contain scheduling features.

    Hi,
After applying the SP 23 Patch Level 08, LOCK JDBC problems stopped.
But now when a network error or database error, the JDBC Sender Communication channels that were open to connection, are blocked.
Even following the instructions in [SAP Note 1083488 - XI FTP_JDBC sender channel stop polling indefinitely (04_04S)|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1wdCZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1083488] the problem continues.
I've already set the parameter "taskTimeout" and selected the option "Disconnect from Database After Each Message Processing" but not resolved.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Here is complete code which I tested on 10.2.0.4 which shows a second job that runs after a first job starts and also when it has exceeded its max run duration. It doesn't have the condition but just runs on every event raised, but the job only raises the 2 events.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.
-- run a job when another starts and exceeds its max_run_duration
    set pagesize 200
-- create a user just for this test
    drop user test_user cascade;
grant connect, create job, create session, resource,
      create table to test_user identified by test_user ;
    connect test_user/test_user
-- create a table for output
create table job_output (log_date timestamp with time zone,
            output varchar2(4000));
-- add an event queue subscriber for this user's messages
    exec dbms_scheduler.add_event_queue_subscriber('myagent')
-- create the first job and have it raise an event whenever it completes
    -- (succeeds, fails or stops)

  • Source system Connection for DB2

    Hi All,
I need to create a source system for DB2 in SAP BI 7.0.
I have some information about the DB2 database but not sure if that info is sufficient to create a source system for this server.
    The info I have for DB2 server SERVER1  :
    FOR SERVER1:
    1)    Username: User01
    2)    DB Password: XXXXX
    3)    Conn. Info : BCDT
I could get the info that database name is entered with the parameter u201CDB2_DB_NAME=u201D  (is that right ?)
I believe that there needs to be more info for "Conn Info" other than just what is provided.

  • Obtain Job invoker for a SSIS job scheduled in SQL Server Agent

    Hello,
I was required to tell the job runner of a particular SSIS job scheduled in SQL Server Agent (in SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2). I noticed that after running the job, a record can be found in msdb.dbo.sysjobhistory in the [message] columm saying that
the job is invoked by 'Domain\User'. Is there anyway I can acquire and upload that information into an audit table by adding some additional script into the job? I heard about using token to get job_ID, but what about the actual user name who runs
    the job?
    Thanks

Just add retry attempts to whatever number you want (2 as per your original explanation) in Job step properties as below
Have a logic to include a delay of 10 mins . You can make use of WAITFOR function for that
