Joboptions in Acrobat X Standard

Hello.  I am using Acrobat X Standard on a Windows 8 machine.  I wish to make and use a customised joboption (as accessed through Edit/Preferences) for when I convert a WORD 2010 document to pdf, with a particular page size and resolution.  I can see the inbuilt six sets of options that were installed with the program for this operation, but when I go through the steps of editing one of them it won't let me "save as" it to the same location as the inbuilt options, and I therefore don't see it in the dropdown list of options.  I also can't add a customised paper size when using the "Save as Adobe PDF" option on the File menu tab of WORD 2010.  I have tried to manually move the custom joboptions file into the folder where the inbuilt ones are stored but the system won't let me.  I am logged on as Administrator (as the only user on the machine).  I've tried re-installing the prgram, but to no avail.  I can view the joboptions file by double clicking on it and it opens up OK - just can't see within Acrobat itself.
I am familiar withe procedure form the days when I had Acrobat 7. 0 on my Windows XP machine, but I am a bit lost here.
Any help appreciated.

Hi.  Thanks so much for that.  The folder you mention doesn't exist as such, but in a slightly different place: C\Users\Myname\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AdobePDF\Aettings.  Now everything is fine as far as the joboptions files are concerned.  It begs the question as to why Acrobat doesn't prompt me to save there as opposed to the other place.  I'd never have worked it out.
You are a quite right that the page size in joboptions has no (obvious) effect on the actually final page size as listed in the PDF Properties.  I see from the help files that it only comes into play if a page size wasn't specified in the original document.  What I was trying to achieve was to take an A4 WORD document and create a pdf with a scaled down page size of A5 (so that my friendly printer can make a nice little booklet!).  I did this easily in the past by scaling the WORD document to A5 in the print tab before printing to another pdf generator.  However, when I try this now by printing to the AdobePDF "printer" in my printer list it doesn't give A5 as an option (probably because it's American software and not very Europe-friendly).  However, I found out how to make a PostScript Custom Page Size, which does the trick.  But I have to go through this process each time.  Is there any way to set a page size of A5 in the list of page sizes in Acrobat.
Bit long winded, sorry, but thanks again.

  • Acrobat 9 standard - saving pdf as version 1.4

    Hi,
just wanted to ask how can I save pdf documents as optimized version 1.4 (acrobat 5.0) documents, using Adobe Acrobat 9 standard?
I know that the pro version enables to save as...(and then choose the settings), use the optimizer, use batch processing or preflight, but none of these seems to be available in the standard version...what should I do?
    Many thanks,
    Yael

    Thanks ☺
There is a way, found it yesterday…if you define a suitable profile (joboptions) through the distiller, and then print the file using adobe printer and this certain profile – you'll get a perfect pdf document ☺

  • Creating Back navigation in Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

I have a huge pdf - actually an e-book - of more than 350 pages. Each page contains a health therapy with certain words hyperlinked which go to an explanation in the glossary, which is towards the end of the document. This means that the reader could click off page 9 to find themselves in page 320, and then after they've got their explanation, they will want to return to their original page (9).
So how do I get them back easily?
On Acrobat 7, there was a way of doing this. And it is explained here in this tutorial:
    http://library.queensu.ca/webir/e-theses/word-to-pdf-etd_tutorial.pdf
The way to do it is found in Lesson 4, Section 3. It says:
    * In the Actions pane select the "Execute a menu item" then click on the "Edit" button.
    * The Menu Item dialog box presents itself. Select, from the menu, "View>Go To> Previous View.
My problem is that none of these navigation titles such as Actions, or Bookmarks Properties, or Execute a Menu Item appear in my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.
And I'm not even sure whether Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard can perform this navigation tool, or whether it is only available in Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional. I rang Technical Support, but they didn't know. So they referred me to Customer Services, but they didn't know. So Customer Services referred me to Sales, and they didn't know ...
So please can anyone here help? I would be very grateful.
    Thanks for listening!

Thank you for your swift response,
The problem is that the form has to be filled out and then submitted via email, as you mentioned the email clients have trouble, I do not have a problem with the amount of submissions as I do not think I will ever hit the max on the form.
I have been doing some digging, can I use "Extend Forms Fill-In & Save In Adobe Reader" function on the form so the users can fill out the form and then save it? And if so are you also able to have the "submit Form" function with this or can it only be one or the other?
    Thanks in Advance

when printing a pdf file from a autocad lt 2011 program using adobe acrobat 9 standard program, viewing the pdf file some of the text is missing (random text missing not always the same) this does not happen all the time. does anyone know why this would happen?

  • How do I get more drawing tools for editing in Acrobat 9 standard?

I have Acrobat 9 Standard, and I am trying to edit architectural PDFs with the editing tools available. What I need is a way to create and save symbols, draw simple revisions, and generally apply a layer to indicate changes (a red line plan) for the architects and engineers I work with. They utilize this PDF to modify their DWG files and produce revised drawings. I do not want to train in Autocad if I can continue to utilize Adobe products to achieve the same goal. Acrobat gives me a lot of tools to work with, but I need more related to architectural drawing. I will upgrade or purchase another program if need be.

  • Combine Files into PDF no longer working in Acrobat XI Standard

Acrobat XI Standard now displays error "Additional files will need to be installed to create PDF from this file. You must have administrator privileges to install these files. Please contact your local system administrator." I am a single user on a single Windows 8.1 machine not on a network. Acrobat XI Standard installed from disc and then updated. Also running Office 2013. This worked fine until a few weeks ago as well as the right-click "Convert to PDF" option - now gone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat XI completely. I have completed the full on-line Office repair as well. Same error. Any help would be appreciated - thank you.

Behavior for PDFs is not handled by SharePoint, but rather Adobe Acrobat. Validate Adobe Acrobat's PDF browser extension has been disabled (you can do this via IE and I believe Adobe Acrobat has this option within it's own Preferences).

  • Acrobat 8 Standard - Printing Tax Forms in Black - No Forms Toolbar

I have filled out some tax forms in Acrobat 8 Standard, however, the font color for the filled out text is blue, and thus prints as a hard-to-read grey when printing on the laser printer.  I've searched and the standard advice seems to be to use the forms toolbar to change the font color, but when I go to View -> Toolbars, there is no option for the Forms toolbar.
Is there any way I can get this damned text to print as black?  Seems kinda silly to have a form fill-out function that you can't print the result of!

I was very pleased to find this info too. Thanks.
But something a little more important than how to do it is why is it so hard to find? I'm sure there are many more people out there who can't find this and I think it's because it's hard to find. The intuitive functionality, offered by the Properties Bar in Acrobat, called the Control bar in Illustrator, and the Options bar in Photoshop. Acrobat also appears to be the only one in that list that doesn't contain a secondary tool pallet for each function offered by the Properties bar, found in the Window menu.
I've been through everything Tina looked at and most of them seemed like they should contain the font color, although I couldn't find the Document Colors Option. And if it turned out that you can't edit the color, why would it pick red?
So my two questions are, why is this solution so hard to find?
How do you change the default font color so you don't need the Properties bar?
Ok, I feel better now :)

  • What is the issue? When printing a 30x42 drawing PDF with 5 pages. The first drawing prints properly, but none of th eothers do. IF I print each separately, by selecting "current page" they print fine. Oh this is for Acrobat XI Standard.

RE Acrobat XI Standard. When printing a 30x42 Drawing PDF with more than 1 page only the first page prints properly the rest are not the proper size or centered. Did I miss a setting? For now I can work around it by printing each page using the "Current Page" setting, but this delays me when there is more than 20 pages etc..

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard - invalid serial number after transfer

    Hello,
Trying to install my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard on a new computer.
I followed the instructions to deactivate the licence on the old computer and documented my serial number (out of the REGISTRY). I also got the message, that the deactivation was successful.
When I now try to install the software on the new computer, this fails with a message that the serial number is invalid (but I checked serveral times for typing errors).
    Any help?
    Kind regards
    Ruediger Schultz

What is in the registry is not necessarily the serial number. If you registered the software, you can find the serial number under your account on the Adobe website.
