John Smith administrator?
I recently bought a new Mac and gave my old one to a friend after removing my personal information. She is now having trouble with some programs that require administrator action. The administratorname comes up as 'John Smith'. We have no clue who this guy is or what his password might be. Any solutions to cracking this nut?
If the new owner of the old Mac uses its original install-restore disc set to secure erase the hard disk drive, reformat it, and install a new system (then update it online) the issue with any former owner content disappears.
Any later OS X supported versions can be later obtained along with applications, to complete the software set to make a usable computing experience. The original disc set would have the hardware test for that mac, and also any applications included with the computer when new. A later retail OS X install disc would not have any applications outside of those in the OS itself. The set of iLife applications, iWorks, etc would not be included in a later retail DVD unless it was a rarer upgrade kit with OS and iLife, iWorks, etc.
Of course relatively new older Macs have a different path to get another system installed, if not on DVD. And there is a tie-in with the AppleID of the first owner, and that has to be handled correctly for additional owner use. Details vary, depending on the hardware vintage and OS X involved. 10.6.8 and later, the App Store, the Mac App Store, w/ very high speed internet.
Good luck & happy computing!

A John Smith who i am sure took videos of me on Sk...
This is to inform you that a person i conversed with initially on Yahoo Messenger, a John Smith or John Cyrus Smith Skype video chatted with me. He said he was from the UK, aged 38 years old and had a sick father, a mother with bone problems and a sister who lived in the States. He himself was undergoinging tests for Leukemia (after one and a half months after talking with me). He worked in an Ad Company and hence most of the time we used to converse late at night. But the thing is i could never see him (he said the Company had a firewall and hence couldnt hear my voice or i who couldnt see him). He i am sure took Videos of me (not being nude, since i never was) but of me wearing a light night wear and oneday only a tee (without jeans) and me performing the seduction kisses (but no more than that). He wanted me to touch somewhere else but i refused to do so. He used the photos of Kevin Kiger (an American Yoga teacher). I did tell him a lot about my family but withheld a lot of real informations too. The said person is said to be 5 foot 9 inches with black eyes. I am glad everyone of my friends and family members know about that person and i even notified the authorities lest he "morphed" my images or leaked even those images that he took. I got a phone call from (+25 something number) which i found to be from Africa the previous Monday. Whatever he does or his team member (which i am sure he has) in the near future i guarantee this i will go lengths to catch someone like this who dares make a mockery of people who are willing to be friends with the likes of him. Please be aware of the person using the ID: johnsmithartist, London, UK.

In my photo stream my sister in law shows up as my brothers name even thought her contact card says just Kim and no Smith ? Even though I dont have John Smith anywhere in my contacts, I may have just John but no smith. So everytime she likes a photo it says his name for some reason?? Her name is ]corrrect on other peoples phone that are members of the same photo stream. I have looked into both contact cards and cannot find anything anywhere that would make her name show up as John Smith when I send the invitr to her email or phone muber. I even went as far as changing her name to see and deleting her from the group and readding and still no luck.BTW I am using an iphone 5 with the latest update.
Hello,
It is my understanding that the name displayed here will be that which is (in Contacts) associated with the email address for the Apple ID registered with the iCloud account of the person on the stream.
In other words, check to see if the contact entry for your brother in your iPhone has an email address. If this email address in his contact entry is also associated with the Apple ID that your sister-in-law is using for iCloud (which is responsible for Photo Streams), this could be the cause of the delemma. I believe this is a programmed feature and not a bug, but I'm not positive about the methods iCloud uses to display that name.
In order to troubleshoot this, delete that email address in your brother's Contact entry and add it to your sister-in-law's Contact entry. This could correct the issue. If that works, you could then add the email back to your brother's entry (so that it is in both of their entries) and see what happens. -
Backup Assistant Keeps repeating my info. I.E "John Smith Smith"
Anyone run into this problem? I update my phone contacts and then hit back it up and then I'm getting repeated info. like "John Smith Smith". I have attempted to go online and update the contacts list via this route and then sync it back to my phone and yet eventually the old information creeps back into my phone and on the online version. There seems to be no way of correcting my contacts when the info. changes. It still wants to use info. from like 2002!
What gives here?SLAB42, we don't want this to be an ongoing problem for you. Which make/model phone do you have? Meanwhile, here's more details regarding how to manage your contacts online at our website: http://vz.to/WNJMeV

"John Smith's iPod" cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found.
I received a new red 2nd generation iPod shuffle as a gift, with songs loaded on it. Everything was fine until I tried to charge it. I got the message "this iPod synced with another computer, would you like to erase all songs and synce with your computer?" I answered no. I tried copying my song list by using a free 14 day trial software, but ended up erasing an important folder from my iPod Shuffle. I've tried restoring it to factory settings many times, updated the iTunes, tried going to my control panel, add/delet programs and selected "repair" option for iTunes. It seemed to down load and restore iTunes but it didn't help. I still get that message when I try to sync my Shuffle. iTunes recognizes my Shuffle, starts to load the songs, goes through about 15 then the message appears and stops. Nothing gets loaded on the shuffle.
How do I find out what folder is missing, and how do I load it back on my shuffle? It definitely said folder, not file or disc.
Flyer2beI had that problem when I had someone else sync my shuffle when I couldn't get it to work on my computer. Once I got it back that message came up. I ended up saying "yes" and during this stage I copied my songs onto my computer hard drive unless you don't mind losing all your songs and starting over. Once I did this I completed the sync to my computer and then dragged the songs from my hard drive to my iTunes folder. I have done this twice as we have two shuffles that were started on another computer when my computer wouldn't work initially.

Greetings
I'm trying to print out address labels for Christmas cards. Is there a way to print out one for an entire family instead of everyone separately as individuals? For instance, I have a separate entry for Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith. I'd like to print out one label that is for "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" or "Smith Family."
Is there a way to do this? I suppose I could just do a company that is "Smith Family", but I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
Thanks!
JohnI think you may want to export your contact list to Excel (or Google docs) or another format where you can edit the list (remove names, change fields, etc.).
Once you have a clean list that has all the names in a clean format that you want to print onto the labels then you import that spreadsheet or document into a program that has label making abilities and a mail merge feature.
What type of labels are you using?
There are several label programs out there that have mail merge capabilities and labeling support. I am happy to provide some recommendations once I understand your needs.

T-SQL: Random Equal Distribution
Jinchun Chen: "Nice."
JS: "The crucial thing about such a procedure is to check the data before the randomization and afterwards. You might encounter situations where "John Smith" and "John Meyers" might have exchanged their First names
which is technically correct, but logically and obviously wrong. So make sure that there is one additional check afterwards that makes sure that eventual privicy concerns will not survive the random process. Normally this would not happen, but I have already
checked this is one of my older blog entries, where we exactly had that problem obfuscating data to make that operational and live data will not be recognized afterwards. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jenss/archive/2009/04/08/when-is-random-random-enough.aspx In
addition to this some attributes are sticky to each other like gender and First Name. You also have to make sure that your distribution might change statistically in relation to other attributes."
Richard Mueller: "Very instructive. Perhaps the See Also section should have more links."
Ed Price: "Great formatting and topic! Could benefit from more descriptions. Great article!"
GO: "Naomi, your article is nice. Simple to understand the 'problem' and execute the 'solution""

JS: "For me not using this sort of things regularly, I don't see the problem and the benefit. I have no doubt that this is a brilliant explanations how to cope with a problem, but for me this is missing yet the red line. More pictures
would be helpful describing the problem and outlining the results produced."
Richard Mueller: "Needs more explanation, and perhaps an example. There should be links to relevant references."
Ed Price: "Good job on the opening descriptions! Could benefit from breaking up and explaining the code more. Images and references would be helpful. Good article!"

DataCleanUp() Function Implementation in MS SQL Server
Jinchun Chen: "Good."
JS: "-Does actually not work for Case senstive areas where I want to remoce certain Upper/lower case characters. This might be not interesting for some people, but is extremely important and relevant to other people. The limitation is
that I can´t pass multiple values to be removed from the string, right ? Could this be implemented as well as many people wash out their data from unused / unimportant control characters. "I have tested it on a table which has got more than 11 Million
rows and it executed fine returning the correct results. Since this is a scalar function you will notice decrease in performance." Once you want to maintain the old data and keep the new cleaned up one seperately, you could suggest something like persisting
the data in a computed column which could be indexed and then help improving the performance. This would not be the case for any adhoc queries though."
Richard Mueller: "Very clever and also very useful. There should be links to references, for example to explain the PATINDEX function."
Ed Price: "Great job on this article! Very clear and well executed! See JS's comments for some thoughts about what's possible. Great article!"
Manoj Pandey: "A good utility Function that I can use and tweak for my future needs, Thanks."

There's no trust between the domains, the external client is completely separate on the internet but the CA certificate for contoso.com has been installed in the trusted Root CA store. All servers have certificates for secure RDP.
I enrolled for a custom 'Smart Card Authentication' certificate with Client Authentication and Smart Card Logon EKUs from the CA, stored on my new Gemalto smart card using the Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP.
From internalclient.contoso.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
using the smart card just fine with no certificate errors.
From externalclient.fabrikam.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
via rdsgateway.contoso.com using a username and password just fine with no certificate errors.
From externalclient.fabrikam.com, I can RDP to fileserver.contoso.com
via rdsgateway.contoso.com using the smart card to authenticate to the gateway, and a username and password to authenticate to the end server, just fine.
BUT from when using a smart card to authenticate to the end server via the gateway, it fails with:
The specified user name does not exist. Verify the username and try logging in again. If the problem continues, contact your system administrator or technical support.
When I move the client into the internal network and try the connection again (still via the RDS Gateway), it works fine - the only thing I can think of is being outside the network and not being able to contact the AD DS DC for Kerberos is causing the issue
- but I'm pretty sure this is a supported scenario?
The smart card works fine internally, the subject of the certificate is the user's common name (John Smith) and the only SAN is
[email protected] which matches the UPN of the user account as it was auto-enrolled.
Does anyone have any ideas?I had a similar issue where I am using a smart card through a Remote Desktop Gateway. I had to disable Network Level Authentication (NLA) on the destination Remote Desktop Server. If anyone has another way around this, I'd appreciate hearing it. I'd prefer
to use NLA. -
How to avoid duplicate DN exception when creating Active Directory Account
I am using OIM 9.1.0.2 to provision Active Directory accounts.
I run into issues when the DN of the user to be created already exists and I would like to know if anyone has some logic I can use to generate a different DN for new user by adding a number or something like that to the DN
Here is an example.
User 1 exists already and their DN: cn=john smith, cn=users, dc=company,dc=org
New user joins the company and his name is also john smith and he has no middle name: so system attempts to create his account as cn=john smith, cn=users, dc=company,dc=org
how can I accomplish this by making the account say cn=john smith_1, cn=users, dc=company,dc=org855640 wrote:

There are two different questions:
1. How to generate a sequence of candidates for the name attribute
2. How to check if a record with the given name candidate already exists in the Active Directory, and hence try the next candidate from the sequence.
The answer for the first part is usually defined by the policy existing in your organization, in the simplest case you can append sequential integer numbers to the end of the original name.
The answer for the second question is not so simple if you use are provisioning with MSAD connector.
There are two places you can put the check:
-- in the pre-populate adapter for the UD_ADUSER_COMMONNAME field
-- in the adpADCSCREATEUSER event handler, which is responsible for new AD user record creation.
Both cases need some coding, since you have to obtain the AD connection and search AD for matching records.
Pros & cons
Placing check code in the pre-populate adapter:
Pros:
the result is visible in the form, administrator can change the pre-calculated value if he wishes
Cons:
you need to have all access to connection parameters, and establish one extra connection
this is not the way OIM is supposed to work :-(
Placing check code in the AD user creation task:
Pros:
you have all access to connection parameters, and open a connection here anyway
Cons:
the result is not present in the form, so no way for manual interaction by administrator here
BTW: this problem is not only related to DN generation, some other AD attributes (e.g. sAMAccountName, mailNickName, userPrincipalName, mail) should be unique in the AD domain scope.

How do I create a Public Group on the Calendar Server?
How do I create a Public Group on the Calendar Server?
<P>
Anyone can create Private Groups or Member Only Groups. You must be given
administrative rights to create Public Groups on the Calendar Server. The
Calendar Server Admin (SYSOP) can give anyone rights to create Public Groups by
using the uniadmrights tool.
<P>
Go to /users/unison/bin/
and run the uniadmrights
tool. Some sample syntax:
<P>
To list all users with administrative rights:<P>
% uniadmrights -ls -host yourhostname
<P>
To give John Smith, a user on node 10000, rights to administer Public Groups:<P>
% uniadmrights -e "S=Smith/G=John" -add -pgrp -n 10000
<P>
In Calendar Server 4.0, you also have the option of using the Admin Server GUI
to assign Administrative
rights (instead of using the command-line method) by going to User Management,
Administration Rights.
<P>
With the proper administrative rights, log into the Calendar Client. Go to Options,
Manage Groups to create a new group. Choose PUBLIC from the dropdown window,
add your users and/or resources and click OK to create the Public Group which
can be seen by all users on the local Calendar Server. The following is info that I found in another post that I have been trying to follow.

Re: Configure DNS - OS X Server Next Steps
Feb 13, 2011 6:36 AM (in response to Jimbooooooo)
You're setting up internal DNS services, you referenced your ISP DNS servers and you should not have, and now those servers have no translations for your hosts. This is a common misconfiguration.
See [configuring DNS on Mac OS X Server|http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1436] for how to set up your internal DNS server.
And if there are any references to your ISP DNS servers here (within your client settings, within your server settings, your Airport settings, etc), then you're usually going to have DNS and connectivity problems. You're running a server now, so you'll be running your own services, and (particularly because of NAT here) referencing only your own DNS server(s).
You may be setting up external DNS (if and when you need that), but that should happen after you set up your internal DNS. The above article has a link to setting up external DNS, when you get around to that, if/when you need in-bound connections into your LAN. -
Windows 7 client won't connect with 802.1x security
Having issues connecting a windows 7 dell laptop with cisco unified wireless infrastructure. Currently running 4 4402 WLCs and 1 wism. The client in question is trying to connect to an AP that sits on one of the controllers on the wism. WLC code running is 6.0.199. If I configure the windows 7 client to an ssid with wpa2 with preshared key it works with no issue. It's really problematic with 802.1x, wondering if there is addition settings on the adapter in win 7 that I'm missing or have overlooked.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions to a solution to my problem
Regards,
izzyWindows is going to want to use the credentials that you login to the machine. SO if you logged is as "administrator" but you need to authenticated as domain\John.Smith you need to manipulate the credentials.
If you are logging in to the machine with valid domain credentiasl though, it becomes a bit more difficult.
So, is this the only type of machine having an issue? What is the driver version and chipset type?
you can run debug client < cliet ma address > and watch what is happening from the controllers persepctive. You can also see what username is being sent to the AAA server.
Cheers,
Steve

When i create an order manually on CRM then the table CRMD_PARTNER has the required entries and the Ship to party at line item is getting populated correctly. Also if i open the order in CRMD_ORDER the ship pto party are being populated correctly at line item..
But if i am trying to replicate this programatcally using the BAPI, i see that the ship to at header is being copied to each line item and this is not what is expected.
If i go and check in the CRMD_PARTNER the data is not filled
correctly as I dont have any ship to party at line item
So finally I even tried to insert the data manually in the CRMD_PARTNER table using an
INSERT statement and even that doesnt work...
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/forums
So i am unable to ficgure out what is going wrong
Any body if they have any idea on poulating ship to party programatically in
sales order for each line item please help
I am unable to figure out how to fill PArtner table of this BAPI to populate ship to at line item level
Kindly Help..

Display Full Name in SharePoint Designer Workflow Email
Hi!
I want to Display Full Name of a User value from "Assigned to" column...
When I use lookup on "Assigned to" column I get domain/username instead I want to display John Smith (Full Name)...
Is there a way to do that within SharePoint Designer...Hi,
Even I am facing the exactly similar issue as Ashish. Also I don’t have Central Administration access :(
But I was just wondering, is there any way to extract the proper name in FName and LName format using user profile details option?
I mean on the top-right section on sharepoint site you can see “Welcome username” section. On this you can select “My
settings” option where you can see a form with user details including Name field (e.g. Sachin Dubey) and Account field (e.g. CompanyName/Dubey.s.4).
In our case the workflow takes “Account” field instead of “Name” field so can we make any settings from the workflow
or sharepoint front-end so that it takes Name field.
Help is much appreciated.

Active Directory Users and Computer not displaying column data?
I am running Windows 8.1 Enterprise with RSAT installed. My Domain controllers are Server 2008 R2.
I am having and issue with Active Directory Users and Computers. Typically I will turn on Advanced Features and then add Columns for Email address and Display Name. This for example allows me to easily export lists of users and there email
addresses among other things.
The issue is that on my Windows 8.1 client, the columns for Email and Display Name are empty. It simply will not display this information. It only displays Name, TYpe and Description.
If I use a Windows 7 client, the information displays correctly.
Has anyone run into this issue or heard of this problem when using ADUC on Windows 8.1?ADUC is an AD tool that is no longer being improved, with Microsoft now focusing on ADAC (Administrative Center). In 8.1, it has improved quite a bit since 7. You can also just try using the
ActiveDirectory PowerShell Module, which is easy to use and fairly powerful. It can be simple to export lists, and the module for AD is included with RSAT tools.
Example:
Import-Module ActiveDirectory
Get-ADUser -Filter {Manager -eq "John.Smith"} -Properties DisplayName,Mail | Export-Csv dump.csv -NoTypeInformation
So, recommendation: either use ADAC, or PowerShell -- ADUC is part of the wave of deprecation. -
WLS 8.1.5 console doesn't show ActiveDirectory (or custom) Users/Groups
We currently have numerous apps running on a weblogic 8.1.4 portal domain. I am attempting to replicate this domain on 8.1.5. There are four authenticators on our old domain: a DefaultAuthenticator, an ActiveDirectoryAuthenticator, and two Custom Authenticators (based on the sample database authenticator), with JAAS flags set to OPTIONAL for all. Everything was working properly under sp4, including user/group/membership listings in console and authentication. Under sp5, while simple authentication seems to work with all providers, the user/group/membership listings in weblogic console have bad HTML (empty rows under any default authenticator users/groups). The active directory settings were migrated wholesale and I verified that authentication works against this provider. Just no usernames or groupnames. I tested with just ActiveDirectory and DefaultAuthenticator, DefaultIdentityAsserter.
<p>
I was able to debug a bit more using our custom authenticators. I have verified that the user and group lists are being requested and returned properly when you click on Manage Users or Manage Groups in weblogic 8.1.5 console. It just seems like somewhere in the console there is a problem and the HTML output is garbled. Here is a sample of my debug text, the method names and classes should be immediately familiar from the sample authenticator:
