Joikuspot not working on brand new Nokia 808

I've just purchased a Nokia 808 from Singapora and tried using Joikuspot.  Unfortunately for some reason it fails to start a connection.  I've made sure that BOTH mobile data and wifi are on as well.  When I start the program, it asks if I want to start a connection (to which I say yes), I choose AT&T Internet and wait.  I can see the 3G internet icon start up, but the wifi icon (or transmitting icon) never appears and the message "Connection failed, Connection unavailable" appears up at the top.
I've tried reinstalling Joikuspot (well, I purchased the premium version actually), reinstalling the phone software (via Nokia Suite) and doing a factory reset with no success.  Internet and other apps seem to work fine under 3G and wifi as well so I'm not sure what's going on.  Any information regarding the matter would be extremely helpful.  Thanks everyone.

Btw, I've also contacted the people at Joiku and what they've recommended (factory reset, checking certain settings) hasn't worked either. :-(

1) It doesn't matter where you get your Nokia 808 PureView from, ie it doesn't matter if it's a US, Singapore or Finnish variant.. If you are using that device on a network/carrier in the US, the device recognises this and is not going to allow you to make Ad-Hoc wlan connections, as per the regulations set out by the FCC.
2) I understand (this I am not certain on) that the FCC regulations came into force in 2011. Therefore for any device manufacturer since then, the device is not allowed to create Ad-Hoc networks otherwise the device manufacturer wouldn't get FCC approval.
3) The FCC restrictons are in this case technically talking about Ad-Hoc networks, not 'wifi direct' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Direct) networks that are used for example in Lumia 610/710/800/900.
4) I understand the US Variants of Nokia 808 PureView do not have JoikuSpot preinstalled.
5) I understand that US customers are not able to purchase JoikuSpot from Nokia Store.
6) JoikuSoft should be aware of this as they are making the software to create the Ad-Hoc networks. I will find someone to talk to JoikuSoft, failing that I will do it myself. I noticed a post from 'greentoy' claiming "According to Joikusoft Support, It should work fine in US, but they didn't know for sure.". Greentoy, if you're reading this please post me the JoikuSoft contact you had so I can sort this out with them.
It goes without saying, if you have Nokia 808 PureView in the US, and are using JoikuSpot successfully, then I am happy for you and don't want to cause problems for you, but I suspect the FCC would be happy to tell you about their feelings..
Are there any other questions I should be aware of using JoikuSpot in the US before I try to get in touch with JoikuSoft?

    Well to start your iPhone 4S does not have 4G... it just shows 4G at the top of the screen..
    Try turning SIRI off and on.. if that does not work
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings..
    Because SIRI is a network connection to a server nothing more.. it is not on your device so nothing is wrong with your phone..
    Also SIRI is in BETA... and not 100%

    Hi, The Proximity sensor is not working on my new Xperia Z2. I have ran all the tests on the phone and they have failed. When Put up to the ear during a call the screen does not switch off and all the icons get pressed etc. This is VERY annoying as i cant even speak to anyone for a minute before im dialing someone else by mistake. All Software is up to date. SONY, What the soslution here? I will be taking it into the Sony Center here tomorrow but I dont want to be without my only buisness phone for 3-4 days.

    OK installed each update to the pre-installed apps one at a time and tested the proximity sensor after each. All fine till Sony TV Side view : quick remote. after instalation proximity sensor stopped working. after uninstall all working fine again.Seems this is the culprit but I will add my 3rd party apps one at a time just to make sure.

    I got an issue with two brand new Mac minis running 10.7.3 (11D50d):
    Spotlight is not working. I'm only getting the Wikipedia-Search.
    Here's what I did:
    Installation:
    - took the stock Minis and set up two users, admin and user (limited account)
    - updatet the System
    - installed manually: Adobe Reader X, Office 2011, Firefox 12, Flip4Mac, Perian, Cyberduck, Google Earth 6.2 (the installer without the updater), VLC 2
    - installed using AppStore: CalendarBar, TextWrangler, Unarchiever
    - copied a few documents (Word and Excel files) from a PC to the Desktop
    Troubleshooting:
    - tried to restart Spotlight by adding the entire harddrive to privacy using »Spotlight« within the System Preferences
    - that threw an error "no priviliges"
    - started the System from the recovery system (on an USB-thumbdrive) and repaired permissions
    - that did not help
    - tried to restart Spotlight through the Terminal, running the command: sudo mdutil -E /
    - that command returned: No index.
    - the tried: sudo mdutil -i on /
    - returned: Error: unable to perform operation.  (-400) No index.
    - went the hard way
    - unloaded the daemon: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
    - erased the Spotlight folder: sudo rm -fr .Spotlight-V100/
    - loaded the daemon: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
    That made everything work fine until I did a restart of the System. After the mini restarted I was back at square one...
    Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?
    Apple support suggested to reinstall the system. Something I can't do right now, as people need to work on those computers and cannot take a tow hour break...

    We can help narrow down the cause.  What operating system are you using on your new Mac Mini? 
    If you are running the Mountain Lion OS, you can download the latest driver here.  An important note is that the current print queue must be deleted before installing the new driver.  This will ensure proper communication.

  • HT1430 Mic not working on BRAND NEW iphone 4 - pathetic!

    First time out of the box, and the mic on my brand new iPhone4 ordered from Apple doesn't work!  Not for calls, not for Voice Memos, nothing!
    Presumably a hardware issue, so I guess it will be going back unless anyone has any ideas of what might be wrong?

    Maybe hardware, maybe not... did you restore a backup of an older phone to the new one?
    If so, try setting it up as a new phone and see if the problem persists. It may be corruption in the backup used to set it up.

  • Aperture 3 not working on brand new MBP???

    Just tried to open Aperture 3 on my brand new MBP and I get this error message:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
      Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
      Reason: no suitable image found.  Did find:
              /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
    I downloaded A3 from the Mac Store, I've deleted it and re-installed and still get the same message. My MBP is running 10.6.8.
    Any ideas, hope you can help.

    Hi, Thanks! The solution on the Macrumors forum worked! A plugin manager issue!
    I've copied the solution below for anyone else who may run into the issue.
    Turns out it's a simple fix.
    For those with the same problem:
    1. Navigate to: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
    2. Delete the PluginManager
    3. Get a new copy of the PluginManager. (You can copy one from a friends macbook) or use the one hosted here: http://qvenon.com/files/PluginManager.zip

  • PPTP Not Working on Brand New WRT54G2 w/Newest Firmware

    Subject of post says it all.  Have a VPN connection that works perfectly through an old Linksys router.  When I replaced it this weekend with the WRT54G2, all of a sudden the authentication portion of the VPN connection fails.  Yes, I can telnet to the remote port 1723.  Yes, I have the PPTP pass thru enabled.  Yes, when I replace my new router with my old one, the VPN connection works perfectly.
    So now I have a brand new router that I have to use as an access point in order to get to my VPN.  What gives??? 

    I did not try changing the MTU size, although I did see another post that talked about something like that.  Seems like this should work straight out of the box though - never needed to adjust it on any other similar devices. 
    Definitely shouldn't need to do any port forwardinng since the traffic is being initiated from my side of the firewall.
    I'm also surprised that something like this should be broken with all the experience Linksys has.  But they also have a history of having problems with PPTP and this model appears to be very new - the firmware is like 1.0.01.  My guess is that this feature didn't get tested properly - the same thing that happened on the original WRT54G.  Should have known better than to buy this...

    Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your Audio Driver ( probably IDT ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio through the speakers.
    If you still have no sound, I would return the unit and get it replaced - you shouldn't have to be troubleshooting a brand new machine.

  • On/off button not working on brand new iPod touch 5th gen

    My daughter has just unboxed a brand new iPod touch 5th gen that arrived today.
    It wouldn't turn on so I assumed the battery was flat which I thought was odd but I plugged it in and it came on - 90% + battery.
    The on/off button does not do anything. We've pressed it, held it - nothing. If I press the on/off and the home button together, Siri starts.
    It will only switch off after a minute has elapsed. We can't do it manually.
    What's going on? Any ideas?

    Failing that, insert a DVD and see if it works. If it does then I would contact AppleCare as this would most likely mean you have a failed CD laser (it's different to the DVD laser).

  • ISight microphone not working on Brand New Leopard Install Solved

    Hi everybody,
    I had this problems during last days, and after solving it I want to share it with everybody thinking it may be helpful.
    I got ten brand new never used iSights and I wanna to use them on a few MacPro Intel 2xCpu QuadCore 2,8 OS X 10.5.4 to 10.5.7 for videoconferencing using Skype and iChat.
    With the video everything was fine but there was any solution to make the built-in iSight microphone works.
    After a week googling and talking around I found by myself that the problems was the camera firmware.
    Mac OS X 10.5.x doesn't update the iSight firmware so the audio mic doesn't work.
    If you connect the camera to an old OS X (I used 10.4.11), open iChat and log in, it will ask you to update the iSight firmware to the latest version.
    After that, if you unplug the camera and put it back to OS X 10.5.x the audio mic magically works.

    Troubleshooting message: The realtek PCIe GBE family controller adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problems.
    Reinstalled the driver multiple times .
    Reinstalled the portable to factory default.
    Only one ethernet controller driver available for this portable on the HP site so i used that one.

  • Music Player not working in my new Nokia X6

    I got a new nokia X6 5-days ago from some few 2-3 days back it started automatically restarting on its own while i am doing soemthing in the cellphone i had not done anything wrong with the settings just installed 1-2 themes and 1-2 apps from ovi.

    The second issue emerged today yesterday night i download many album from ovi on my X6 and today when i i try to start music player it doesn't open the screen gets black nothing happens for a long time, the phone doesn't hangs coz i can get into open apps by press and hold of menu key and come to home screen and do other things

    i srsly regret my decision to buy x6 over many other its not a good cell and really not worth the price it is saled

    Just try turning phone off and remove battery for 5 minutes, re-boot and go into music player and select Options refresh. I recently set up a new X6 for a friend and it's been trouble free for 6 weeks and I put 15 apps and 20 Albums on it for him plus a few vidz no problems, but just dragged and dropped them from computer to E. Also hard reset and updated the software on the phone before doing anything at all to it. If a simple restart doesn't solve your problem, I would suggest a reset, but if it's only 5 days old, take it back to the shop where you bought it, and get them to sort it !!

    We recently purchased a LasertJet Pro M127-M128.  The ADF does not work consistently.  It automatically prompts to glass feed.  When we change scan feeder and insert the document to the scanner we get an error report "ADF does not contain any pages.  Insert the pages and rescan."  There are already pages in the scanner. This is very frustrating.  I do not want to return this device but if we can't solve the problem we have no choice.  Thank you!

    I would like to work with you today with resolving the automatic document feeder issues that you're experiencing on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw. By the sounds of what you're describing, it does sound like you're experiencing a paper sensor issue with the automatic document feeder. To confirm this, can you remove all the paper from your automatic document feeder and with the printer at its normal screen insert 1 sheet into the feeder. The printer should make a 'ding' noise or display 'original' or 'document loaded' on the screen of the printer. Should none of these things happen than the paper sensor is not 'seeing' pages in the feeder and will not attempt to feed anything.  I'm going to provide some troubleshooting steps to resolve this automatic document feeder issue.  First, can you please run through the following HP Support document. The document does indicate the it is for a Paper Jam error, which I know you're not experiencing. However, it is always a good idea to check the automatic document feeder for any packaging debris or paper.  'Original Jam: Clear jam, and then press OK'  Once you check the automatic document feeder for debris and ensure that nothing is stuck in the mechanism, proceed with the next steps. Clean the pickup rollers and separation pad in the document feeder:
     1. Lift the document-feeder input tray. 2. Use a moist, lint-free cloth to wipe both pickup rollers and the separation pad to remove dirt. CAUTION: Do not use abrasives, acetone, benzene, ammonia, ethyl alcohol, or carbon tetrachloride on any part of the product; these can damage the product. Do not place liquids directly on the glass or platen. They might seep and  damage the product. 3. Once dry, close the document-feeder input tray. Load 1 piece of paper in the automatic document feeder. Ensure the paper guides are adjusted and the feeder lid is closed tight. Does the product detect paper loaded now?  If the printer still fails to recognize paper as loaded in the feeder a reset may be needed.  Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting.
