Join an ADFS 2.0 server to ADFS 3.0-farm

Hi there,
we startet using ADFS with an on premises ADFS 2.0-server running win2012. Now we migrated to an azure-server that runs win2012 r2. I deployed ADFS completely with a new farm configuration running ADFS 3.0. Now I wonder if I can join our "old"
on premises-server to the new farm configuration. I'd like to do load balancing between those two servers.
Is that a supported configuration or do I have to upgrade/renistall the old ADFS-server, so that it also runs ADFS 3.0?

Is anyone aware of any documentation on how to setup ADFS on Windows Server 2012 R2 behind a load balancer?

We just put in 2x KEMP VLM-200 Virtual Appliances in front of an AD FS 3.0 (2012 R2) Farm, consisting of 2 Farm Servers. We got the KEMPs working, but not via their documentation [https://support.kemptechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/203107249-AD-FS],

To save you having to read through the whole blog, I will refer to the following section:
"Root Cause 6 – SSL termination taking place on a network device between Web Application Proxy and AD
FS server
As the Proxy Trust relationship between Web Application Proxy and AD FS server is client certificate based this was breaking the proxy trust relationship.
The SSL communications between the Web Application Server and AD FS server cannot be pre-terminated on a load balancer, Firewall, other reverse proxy device and doing so
will break the proxy trust relationship."
So now that we know we cannot terminate the SSL connection on the KEMP devices, what options do we have? More than happy to share...
In the properties of our Virtual Service for ADFS we configured/enabled the following:

Basically, we are passing the Layer 7 packet through to the AD FS Farm, as Layer 4 just results in the packet never getting there. Would be great if KEMP updated their documentation with some knowledge around how ADFS 3.0 works,
as the inclusion of SNI is NOT the only difference between 2.0 and 3.0.
We then of course changed our FQDN entry in the host file on the AD FS Web Application Servers to resolve the KEMP Virtual Services IP Addresses [we had one in each Datacentre]and everything worked as intended.
Hope this helps others, as there's nothing online about this.

Joined my Macbook to OSX Server and Entourage & Mail stopped coming in

I have OSX server (up to date) running but not configured for email at this time.
I joined my MB to the server and now Entourage and Mail refuse to retrieve or send email. I believe the error I'm getting is that the server is not found.
My wife has the new MBP 13.3 and is on the server with no email problems.

Are you using the same DNS Server as your wife? If you're not and you've configured to use the Mac Server to resolve DNS (internally) then this could explain why you have the problem? If you've joined your client to the Mac Server to take advantage of the more Advanced Services available such as LDAP, Roaming Profiles, iCal etc then you would/should be using it to resolve DNS.
In which trying case to resolve an external domain that has nothing to do with the internal one could well result in mail services not working.
You could add the external Mail Server's external IP Addresses and Host Names to your internal DNS Service's zone files. Or add an external DNS Server IP Address to your DNS Server's field in the Advanced Section of the Network Preferences Pane for the affected client.

The license state for the current server doesn't match the farm's license state

I am trying to build a development Server, to mirror our Production Server.
I have copied the Config_Database and WSS_Content from our Production Server to a Development Server that is on a separate network. I installed SharePoint 2010 and ran the Config Wizard, entered in the database server and chose the Config_database that I
copied over previously.
But I receive the error:
"The license state for the current server doesn't match the farm's license state"

I have already SharePoint 2013 farm having 4-WFE Servers, 2-Application Servers, 3-dedicated Search Servers, 2-DB servers (Clustering enabled). Now I want to add one more App server having Project Server 2013 in this existing farm environment so Please
check the below steps. Please let me know If I am wrong in the approach.
Need to install PS 2013 on all the WFE, Applications and Search Servers.
Need to Run Sharepoint wizard on all the servers one by one. (Is it mandatory to run wizard on each server or should run only on application servers only)
The project Server service should run only on application servers.

Those steps are correct for high level :) One thing you might need to do is after installing Project Server on all the servers is apply the same CU / SP to Project Server as SharePoint (using the Project Server equivalent patch) so Project Server and SharePoint
are patched at the same level. I would do this after installing PS2013 and before you run the wizard on each server.
I would ensure you test this on a non prod farm first and ensure you have a roll back plan in place.

I have table employees and this is my master table

I have a child table that is called related employee that contains employees related to this employee

When I open employee id = 100 for example and add related employee id = 10
this is added with no problem but the requirement is that when I open employee 10 I find employee id 100 as related employee
How can I make this scenario.

The best way to understand this is to look at an example. If you are using an oracle database such as XE for you have a schema called hr. This shema has a number of tables two of which are departments and employees. a department has multiple employees correct. So in your example a employee may be related to x # of other employees perhaps. A very similar scenario as that in the hr Schema. If you don't have an Oracle XE database, download one from here -> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/express-edition/downloads/index.html
Create Business Components off of the Departments and Employees schema and you'll see that due to the db design, you get what you're talking about for free (i.e. the join). Thus, you have the master-detail relationship you're looking for. For a quick tip, here is the relationship between departments and employees in the hr schema via a create script that you can exam with data inserts included:

Can't join clients to domain in Server 2012 R2 Datacenter

I have done the searching. I have installed 2012 Datacenter 64bit. No problem. I installed the Ad Ds role and elevated it to a domain controller. I installed DHCP and DNS roles. I now want to join a client computer to this new
domain in the server. (it's the only domain). However, nothing I try works. I get the message:
"An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain "DGR.MINE" could not be contacted."
Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly.
If the name is correct, click Details for troubleshooting information"
Details:
The error was: "This operation returned because th teimout period expired." (error code 0x000005B4 ERROR_TIMEOUT)
The DNS servers used by this computer for name resolution are not responding. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses; 192.168.1.200
Verify that this computer is connected to the network, that these are the correct DNS server IP addresses, and that at least one of the DNS servers is running.
In my 2012 Server the DNS address is set to 192.168.1.200
In my client computer the DNS address is set to 192.168.1.200
The server and the client are both connected to a simple switch, so I'm using straight through Ethernet cables. I've tried crossover for client to server connections also, but no luck there either.
This should be a simple process. Can someone with patience give me a step-by-step on setting my server to a domain controller, DNS server, assigning the DNS address, and what else I need to do to allow a client to connect? Then can I get the
same wonderful help in connecting the client to the server? I wouldn't ask for such detail, but I'm needing to check to see where I messed up, if indeed I can find where.

Make sure that the machine you are trying to join to your new domain has access to the domain (can ping the IP address of the domain controller) and has set itself to point to the IP address of the domain controller
as its DNS server.

my sql keep dropping out the domain for some reason, I cant see any domain user account and the location is not entire directory anymore on my sql server even the domain name appears there. so I decide to take it off domain officially and rejoin later, but
failed to rejoin and gives me an error msg just like that.

How to join local computer to virtual server domain ?

I am new to Window Azure cloud computing. I found many articles and tutorials available online but I am kind of lost because I don't what I need to do to achieve my scenario.
Scenario: I want to migrate my servers to cloud and retire all local servers such as DC and file server. At the same time, I wish to control the network traffic to limit the clients access to Internet resources. I am not sure retiring the
all local servers is something right to do and how to do.
What I have done:
1. Site-to-Site VPN connection with Dell Sonicwall TZ205 to VNet. 2. Created a VM in the VNet. (I can ping the VM from computers connected to TZ205)
3. Installed active directory and configured the domain forest.
What I need to do:
1. How to join the local computers to the virtual server domain controller with S2S and P2S VPN. (Some Internet resources mentioned I need to install Connect agent in order to do this)
Extra questions:
1. Is it possible to request the clients to provide account credentials before the point-to-site VPN to VNet is established ?
2. How do I configure the TZ205 VPN router to send all the Internet traffic to the VNet instead of the ISP gateway? The computers connected to TZ205 firewall router public IP address doesn't change to the VNet gateway IP.

I assume there is connectivity between on-prem device and DC on Azure VM.
You can set the Internal IP of the DC as DNS on the on-prem device and trying joining it to the existing domain. Please note to use S2S VPN.
It is not possible to provide user credentials while connecting to vNet via P2S VPN. It's a certificate based authentication (which is so by design).
With regards to your query to send all internet traffic to vNet instead of ISP gateway. Please refer to Forced Tunneling:

Different domains don't have to be a reason for extra primaries, see for more information:

In case this is really the way you want to go, you can only expand one primary to a CAS. Every other primary that already exists has to be rebuild, or migrated to a newly build primary.

Joining a Mac OS X server to a Windows Domain

Hi all, new to the forums here and fairly new to a Mac environment. I'm looking for some guidance and assistance with how to join a Mac Server to an existing Windows domain. My questions are what kinds of options do I have for setting up a server that will be part of the Windows domain and also hosting multiple Mac clients. I looked briefly at the server options like stand alone, member server, domain server, etc. I'm having trouble distinguishing what we want the server to be defined as. I'm also wondering what are the steps I'll need to take in order to join the system to the Windows domain. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

You use the Directory Access app found in the /Applications/Utilities folder to join the computer to the domain. Once there you can see what options you have.

How to join srever osx to windows server 2008

Hi
Can any one advise me on the best way to join OS X Server to Windows server 2008 DC.
My ultimate aim is to manage ipads using OS X server by pulling users from Active Directory within Server 2008.

You need to join the OS X Server to Active Directory just like any other Mac. This is done usually using Directory Utlity but can also be done via the command line.
Once you have joined it to AD, you then in Server.app switch to showing Network Accounts. These accounts can then be used to authenticate services in Server.app

I can not open Adbe Reader on a iMac, joined into a Open Deirectory server

Dear All,
I setted up a MAC OS X 10.6.2 server with Open Directory.
I created sevral netwrok account on the server
I have some iMac 10.6.2 and users log into the server and work with their remote file.
The user preferences /Library/Preferences are store on the server.
No home are on the iMacs (local).
This configuration cause me some problems and particularely with the last version of Adobe Reader
When I open first time Adobe Reader and I accept the licende it crach and ask me to send a report to adobe. But If I log me with a local account (admin), I can open it. only with a network account it freeze.
I think it is because it can not read or create the adobe reader preference file into the server. But the user has the permission to write into the remote home folder (o the server)
Do you have an idea why I can not open Adobe reader with a nwtork account?

This is a known problem with no known solution. I believe it predates SL and existed with Leopard and perhaps earlier network-based accounts.
