Join and Share Path

Hi All,
I have trouble to join and share the path in a curve line as shown in my screen shot. I circled the red as there is a gap in between. I want to achieve a smooth path like the blue and purple on the right without overlapping or cross over. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

David,
Actually, there is a crucial difference: Larry suggested starting over, whereas I and others made suggestions based on what you already have. If you are to create similar artwork, it is eaiser to create the whole closed outer shape, then just one path crossing it, then apply Object>Path>Divide Objects >Below.
An alternative way for the present case could be a blend of the two suggestions:
Presuming the curved bits from top to bottom in the middle are separate paths and that the others are open paths frome either side (as in post #10, you may:
1) Select the two open side paths and Pathfinder>Unite;
2) Delete the unneeded middle path, then select the other one (if needed extend it to go past the closed path created in 1)) and Object>Path>Divide Objects Below.

  • Joining open and closed paths

    Hi
Is it possible to join an open path (created with the Pen Tool) to a close path (also created with the Pen Tool)?
    Grechy01

I want to create a complex piece of artwork by using line art created with the Pen Tool and color it by filling in the paths with the Live Paint Bucket. Anyway, I should be able achieve this with not much extra work by using overlapping closed paths, Average function (under Object --> Path) to align the point where the two closed paths cross, Pathfinder Merge function and multiple layers to remove the segments of the path that I don’t want and the Live Paint Bucket to color the artwork. If you can think of an easer way to do this please let me know.

  • Can AirPort Extreme join a wireless network and share the connection to ethernet connected devices?

Can AirPort Extreme join a wireless network and share the connection to ethernet connected devices?

Yes, if the AirPort Extreme is joining a wireless network that has been created by another Apple router. In this case, it will be extending the wireless network and the Ethernet ports are enabled on the "remote" AirPort Extreme.
No, if the AirPort Extreme will be used with another router from another manfacturer.
Ironically, the less expensive AirPort Express can do what you ask about with virtually any wireless network using a special feature called ProxySTA. It won't extend the wireless with a non-Apple router, but the Ethernet port will be enabled.

  • Have Time Capsue join existing Wi-Fi network, and share an ethernet printer

There's a fair few posts covering the topic of Time Capsule joining an existing Wi-Fi network, but I'm not clear on whether my proposed design below will work as expected.
At the moment my TC (original version) is connected to a cable-company supplied Netgear Wi-Fi router using ethernet. This works great as the Netgear pumps out the 2.4Ghz signal for my iPhone and old Powerbook. The Time Capsule deals with the 5Ghz band, which is used solely by my MacBook.
There's also an HP printer/scanner connected to the TC using ethernet.
The Netgear and the TC are right next to each other - so connecting them via ethernet is no biggie.
So, in a nutshell: Modem-- ethernet -->Netgear -- ethernet -->Time Capsule.
I'll be moving house soon and my cable company will be supplying a new router, this time with 5Ghz.
I plan to re-design the network as follows:
    Downstairs: Modem-- ethernet -->5ghz Netgear
    Upstairs: Time Capsule.
I plan to have the Time Capsule join the 5Ghz network provided by the Netgear router, but instead of connecting them using an ethernet cable, I'd like the Time Capsule to join and extend this network over Wi-Fi.
I suppose my first question is... can that be done?
My second question is will the ethernet ports on the back of the TC still function, i.e. will I be able to connect my printer/scanner still?
And finally, if the above scenario won't work, and I have to run an ethernet cable between them, is this the right type of cable:

A big thanks for all your help

    Welcome to the discussions!
+I plan to have the Time Capsule join the 5Ghz network provided by the Netgear router, but instead of connecting them using an ethernet cable, I'd like the Time Capsule to join and extend this network over Wi-Fi.+
+I suppose my first question is... can that be done?+
The Time Capsule (TC) could "join" the 5 GHz network, but it would not "extend" it. The "extend" feature only works if you have an Apple router creating the main network.
+My second question is will the ethernet ports on the back of the TC still function, i.e. will I be able to connect my printer/scanner still?+
If the TC "joins" the wireless network, the ethernet ports will not be active. It won't help you in this case, but when the TC "extends" a wireless network, the ethernet ports are active.
+And finally, if the above scenario won't work, and I have to run an ethernet cable between them, is this the right type of cable:+
    +http://www.amazon.co.uk/20m-Cat5e-Patch-Cable-GREY/dp/B000IAJHQ0/ref=pdcp_ce2+
This should work fine. The trick is to use either CAT5e wiring or CAT6.
If it's not going to be easy to run the ethernet cable, you might want to take a look at a pair of ethernet powerline adapters. One adapter plugs into the AC socket near your router and the other would plug into an AC socket near the TC. Short ethernet cables connect the devices to the adapters. The adapters use the wiring in your home to transmit the ethernet signal.
This is not as good of a solution as a straight ethernet run, but in most cases it would be a better connection (and faster) than using wireless only to connect the devices.

  • Outer Join and Index Usage

I am simply trying to run the following query:

    device_path||device hierarchy,
    sn.serialnumber

    left join serialnumber sn

    z_xfmr_levels has 75,000 distinct rows
    serialnumber has 204,000 distinct rows
The explain plan shows a hash join and a full table scan on both tables.
How can I get the query to use the index on the transformergrid field of the serialnumber table?

  • Flat file connection: The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid

I'm trying to execute a SSIS package via SQL agent with a flat file source - however it fails with Code: 0xC001401E The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.
It appears that the problem is with the rights of the user that's running the package (it's a proxy account). If I use a higher-privelege account (domain admin) to run the package it completes successfully. But this is not a long-term solution, and I can't
see a reason why the user doesn't have rights to the file. The effective permissions of the file and parent folder both give the user full control. The user has full control over the share as well. The user can access the file (copy, etc) outside the SSIS
    package.
Running the package manually via DTExec gives me the same error - I've tried 32 and 64bit versions with the same result. But running as a domain admin works correctly every time.
I feel like I've been beating my head against a brick wall on this one... Is there some sort of magic permissions, file or otherwise, that are required to use a flat file target in an SSIS package?

    Hi Rossco150,
I have tried to reproduce the issue in my test environment (Windows Server 2012 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2), however, everything goes well with the permission settings as you mentioned. In my test, the permissions of the folders are set as follows:
    \\ServerName\Temp  --- Read
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source  --- No access
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source\Flat Files --- Full control
I suspect that your permission settings on the folders are not absolutely as you said above. Could you double check the permission settings on each level of the folder hierarchy? In addition, check the “Execute as user” information from job history to make
sure the job was running in the proxy security context indeed. Which version of SSIS are you using? If possible, I suggest that you install the latest Service Pack for you SQL Server or even install the latest CU patch.

  • Accessing files stored in Common Server and share drive with  SAP DMS

    Hi DMS Gurus,
We have a requirement, apart from retreving the data from content server storage, the client also wants the documents stored in common file server and Share drive also to be accessed through DMS,
    1) one option for this may be upload all the documents in the existing servers to DMS Content servers to get the full funtionality of DMS i'm i right? please suggest.
here again they have lacs of document so this may not be a ideal solution, now 2nd option is
    2) create a data carrier and Mount points with the existing server if i'm right, but by just doing this what funtionalities will this provide
i have a preassumption that this existing common server can be used as a storage area for DMS (as vault or common server), but only those documents which are stored in to this common server or shared folder through DMS can be retrived by DMS., again i'm i right?
but how can we access all the lacs of file which are already existing there for years.
how can we see all the documents in SAP DMS which are stored earlier in this common server before DMS,
is migrating all the necessary preexisting documents to SAP DMS the only Solution for this.
any solution for this please suggest.
Points sure for any clarification given
    Thanks and  Regards

    hi Priya
This is an old thread but nevertheless would like to give some inputs.
your point .. common file server and Share drive also to be accessed through DMS,
    1) one option for this may be upload all the documents in the existing servers to DMS Content servers to get the full funtionality of DMS.
<The option 1 is an ideal option as in future u would one day need to migarate the documents if u intend to use SAP DMS as the DMS system in ur org>
Alternatively if the documents would still need to be retained in the file server but also would need to associate to SAP business objects u could use the Define data carrier external DMS.
This again depend on what kind of documents are stored in the file server & are they relevant to be associated to SAP objects/ Transactions.
The point here is u still want to use SAP DMS to view the file , all though there are other option as Archive link, Service for objects etc. Using SAP DMS option will still call for creating DIR in SAP & assigning the file path hyper link using LSMW /upload prog.
So as for a temp sol till u clean up the file server u can use the hyperlink and later migrate to Content server.
    Regards
    John

  • How to get the name and the path of the font used in photoshop (not textItem.font)

I'm trying to get the real name of the font and the path, is there a "easy" way to do it ?
i need to get the font file (*.ttf or *.otf) and copy to the same directory as the psd file, that's why textItem.font doen't work for me.
    thanks in advance

You could try this as it looks as if you are using Windows.
Run the VBS script to create a fontlist file on the desktop.
Then run the javaScript on the PSD document.
It should copy the fonts to the same folder as the document, it will also create a text file with a list of fonts.
It didn't find all the fonts in my test psd maybe because it wasn't in the windows/font folder?

  • Is it possible to join an open path with a closed path?

I am using Illustrator to show territorial changes to Germany after World War I.
My problem is this: I need to join an open path to a closed path.
With the pencil tool I drew a blue line to illustrate the Rhine river on an SVG map of Weimar Germany.
I need to connect the river (open path) to Germany's borders (closed path) so that a new closed path is formed: the Rhineland (Weimar Germany west
    of the Rhine).
I am totally stumped as to how to achieve this. Thank you very much for any help anyone can provide.
    - Nicholas

Two ways you can make it a Live Paint Group then you actually d not hvve to join it in order to get it to react like a closed path.
The other way is to the select the portion of the closed path with either the direct select tool or lasso tool and hit Command  C the hit Comand F paste in front and in the same position. then select the end points on one end of both path and hit Command J then do the same for the other ends of the path and now you have a new closed path and the old closed path under it still intact.
I think the live paint group though will open up a much more powerful workflow for you if you do this type of work often.

    Hi,
It seems we cannot use a DFS file share path here.
    I found a similar thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/d8eafa8f-8999-443f-a2d7-8e6dfa3a2908/user-profile-disk-store-on-a-dfs-?forum=winserverTS
In reply it mentioned "the share needs to be provided from a 2012 server directly as it needs to manage the permissions and share permissions directly".
As you tested you get an access denied error when trying to use a DFS share.

    Hi paprikaprincess,
The means with 4th pencil is to select "Join Tool" which is 4th option under Pencil Tool.

  • Standard application configuration and data paths on Linux

    Hi,
I have some problem with choosing proper place for application global configuration and data paths on Linux.
I saw following paths for application configuration:
    /etc/app_name
    /etc/xdg/app_name
    /usr/share/app_name
    /usr/local/share/app_name
    /opt/app_name
    and following for application data:
    /usr/share/app_name
    /usr/local/share/app_name
    /opt/app_name
Which directories are standard and distribution independent?
    best regards,
    Lukasz

Wouldn't environment variables like XDG_DATA_HOME, XDG_CONFIG_DIRS, XDG_CONFIG_HOME, etc be best?
Many languages' standard libraries have functions for accessing these effeciently in a distro-agnostic manner.

  • Smb and share folder

Mac lion how to join the smb(server 2003and 2008)  and share folder for other win7 user pc .

    Hello folks!
Today I found out this phenomenom is a Mac OS X bug!
Here is my translated Bug report to Apple:
Today I noticed that the SMB protocol is bad. New created shares and shares on the start up volume disappear in the Finder window.
I deactivated AFP and activated SMB on my iMac (Mac OS X 10.5.4.). Next I created to shares on the start up volume. When I connected to my iMac via my MBP with Mac OS X 10.5.4 all shares appear in the Finder window. By clicking on a share it opens properly but by clicking on the Back button they disappear!
So I hope that Apple will fix this because it is very embarrassing when I say that Mac OS X is better than Windows and my collegue - a Windows user - sees that shares suddenly disappearing!
I wish that Mac OS X has to be the best operating system and Apple really needs to fix that!
    Thank you!
