Join mpeg's with diff audio & video dimmensions?

Hi, newbie here. Sorry if this is obvious, just trying to learn & can't find this in the help docs so thought I'd ask here:
Can APE7 join some mpeg files I got from various sources which have differing audio (AC3 & mpeg I think) & video dimmensions? (so presumably one or both clips need to be resized and re-encoded either before joining, or as part of the join (preferably the latter to save me the step))?
Rather than just burning the disc with the mpegs as separate files, I'd like to join them if I can since it's the same program & would like to do the chapter for the "single" program etc.
I used to use Mpeg Video Wizard for this but I had to switch to Vista since my XP town crashed so hope APE7 can do this as I know I'll have some of these to do in the future.
So let me know how to do this if I can with APE7, if not, any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the replies. :)

A better program would be Sonic MyDVD, which edits MPEGs and DVD files natively. Premiere Elements uses a workflow that converts all inputs into DV-AVIs before you can convert them to another format -- very inefficient considering your workflow and goals.

"I Tunes Has Detected a Problem with Your Audio/Video Configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly."
Does anyone know why I'm getting this error message? After getting it, I usually cannot hear any sound on I Tunes or other media players.
I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers and it doesn't help. I also have the latest version of I Tunes. Any ideas?

I had this problem also and uninstalled and then reinstalled Quick-time yesterday and the problem was solved.
However when I turned on my PC today, I had the same problem again but this time uninstalling and reintsalling Quick-time is not working.
Anyone any other suggestions as to how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

  • Make a slidshow with stills, audio & video??

I am losing it here! My daughter's 1st birthday is next weekend and I am scrambling to make a video of her first year for a keepsake and to play at her party. I was using windows movie maker but all of my video clips were the wrong format, so I tried to convert them using vixy.net but it wasn't working. . . so I spent the $30 and got quicktime pro and now it looks like it wont let me do what I want either. I want the movie to be mainly pictures but throw in quick video clips here and there with a 3 song soundtrack underneath. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so a quick/easy way to learn to do it? Thanks!

QuickTime Player Pro can do the job but it takes a few steps and some practice to get things right.
First step would be gathering all of the "parts" and making sure they are QuickTime compatible formats. You should have no trouble with any image format but the audio tracks must be something you own and supported (.mp3 files would work just fine).
The video tracks must play without issue in QuickTime Player. They will determine the file dimensions of your "birthday video" so you should plan on resizing your image files to match it.
Pen and paper works best as your first editor. Organize the resized image files and give the files descriptive names so they are easy to find. Note the "time" of your video tracks so you can pace the still images.
Editing with QuickTime Player Pro works best if you use the keyboard shortcuts so I'll explain the basics:
You edit by making "selections". You view these selections using the "timeline" (area of the QuickTime controller). The "dark area" (of the controller) between the in and out markers is where a "paste" or "Add to Movie & Scale" would appear. The same selection can be copy/pasted for use in other parts of your project.
The letter i and o keys mark a selection (in and out points).
On a Windows computer the "Control" key is the modifier for keyboard shortcuts. Hold it down while you use the other letter key. The right/left arrow keys
Control-o = Open (use this for your image, video and audio files). They will open in a new Player window.
Control-a = All (use this for the still image files prior to a Copy).
Control -c = Copy (this file is stored in a temporary location and only the last one will be available).
Control-v = Paste (inserts the stored copy data).
Edit menu "Add to Selection & Scale" is what you'll use most other. This gives "time" to still images added to an audio track. Not typically used for audio or video tracks as it will speed up or slow down those tracks.
The right/left arrow keys allow you to step through "frames" for more precise editing.
Open your audio tracks, make your selections, copy them and add them together to build your timeline. This will become the base for all of your other work. Occasional "Save As" is prudent to prevent loss of your work. QuickTime Player Pro includes an "Undo" (Edit menu) that also remembers the previous edits.
With your audio track as your base you can add additional "tracks" (QuickTime .mov container can hold up to 99).
Open your supported video track, select all (or the portion you wish to use) and Copy.
Make your selection in the audio timeline (the other open window) and either Paste or Add to Selection & Scale. Do the same with your properly sized image files (but always use Add to Selection & Scale). Preview playback and Undo if needed until you are happy with the outcome.
Your added image tracks will be "static" (no transitions) but with a good subject and the proper audience no one will care.

One of my files made in 2003 with QuickTime Player Pro. Still images, short video, layers and "masks" and a base audio track. Text track at the end of the file.

  • Please, help with Live Audio/Video example from jmf solutions

    Hello,
Im desperate looking for a solution for a particular problem.
Im trying to feed JMF with an AudioInputStream generated via Java Sound, so that I can send it via RTP. The problem is that I dont know how to properly create a DataSource from an InputStream. I know the example Live Audio/Video Data from the jmf solutions focuses on something similar.
The problem is that I dont know exactly how it works, os, the question is, how can I modify that example in order to use it and try to create a proper DataSource from the AudioInputStream, and then try to send it via RTP?
I think that I manage to create a DataSource and pass it to the class AVTransmit2 from the jmf examples, and from that DataSource create a processor, which creates successfully, and then find a corresponding format and try to send it, but when i try to send it or play it I get garbage sound, so Im not really sure whether I create the DataSource correctly or not, as Ive made some changes on the Live Audio/Video Data from the jmf solutions to construct a livestream from the audioinputstream. Actually, I dont understand where in the code does it construct the DataSource from the livestream, from an inputStream, because theres not constructor like this DataSource(InputStream) neither nothing similar.
Please help me as Im getting very stuck with this, I would really appreciate your help,
    thanks for your time, bye.

  • CUCILYNC with Lync Audio/video settings enabled supported ?

    Hello,
for one of my customer I want to install CUCILYNC and Cisco Telephony for a part of the users.
Actually this customer user LYNC for IM/Presence and use the Audio/Video feature for making audio and video calls and conference calls.
In the CUCILYNC configuration guide, Cisco recommends to edit all the CUCILYNC users in the LYNC server to change Telephony settings to Audio/Video disabled (Recommended).
Is it possible to keep this audio/video settings to enable and to have 2 ways to make Video and audio calls : with Cisco capabilitites and with Lync capabilities.
does it work ? If yes, how does it appear on the end-user client ?
is it supported by Cisco ? And Microsoft ?
has anyone making this kind of configuration before ?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Regards,
    Baptiste Croizer

Yes it works, it's just confusing to users as both buttons are lit up. If you set the registry key to IM only all of the Enterprise Voice-related buttons are greyed out.
Each vendor supports only their pieces.

  • How to set up ichat to work with gmail audio/video?

Just messaging works fine, anyway to set it up gmail video to fully work via ichat? I'm using Lion. Thank you!

    Hi,
It depends on your Buddy and what app they are using.
iChat to iChat using Google names works in Video.
Most Jabber apps use a Process called Jingle to connect Audio/Video chats
Google has a a version of this that is used within the PC Web Brwoser Plug-in and the Intel Only Mac one and their Standalone App called GoogleTalk for PCs.
This version of Jingle is also not that compatible with other Jabber apps.
iChat uses a process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to connect.
This works with AIM and Trillian on a PC for the AIM Service as well as other iChat users.
    So...
Your Google Buddies will have to be a Mac Buddy using iChat.
For others you will have to resort to using your Browser and the Chat in Gmail Web Page or iGoogle.

  • Trouble with seperate audio/video files in DVDSP -- please help!

When I import my quicktime files into DVDSP, they are automatically segmented into seperate files, and are both the same file size. So essentially my file is doubled, and this causes the total file size to be too large and will not burn. Has anyone else had this issue, and what can I do to remedy it?
for example: If I import a file that is 1.5gb into DVDSP, then in my asset window I have a video asset with a file size of 1.5gb and an audio track with a file size of 1.5gb. It is double the size of the orginal. There has to be a setting or something that I'm unaware of that will fix this.

    Thanks for your reply.
I know I need seperate video/audio files. My question is why the audio and video files are the same exact size. They are clearly not the same size in the original file. Im okay with DVDSP doing the compressing, Im not concerned with that. I need to be able to fit large amounts of video onto a DVD, but when I import files (ive tried many different file formats) they are enlarged.
Should I not be able to import a file that is 800mb and have it stay 800mb, or should I be using a different authoring software that will allow me to do that?
    Thanks for the help!

  • Need Assistance with syncing audio/video

Alright, I hope you guys can help with this because I've looked high and low and can't find any answers.
Here's what I'd like to do. I'm using Premiere CS3 to edit HD footage shot on a Panasonic HVX2000 (in .mxf format). Audio was recorded separately on a Marantz solid state recorder.
I bring the video clip into the timeline, and then delete the onboard camera audio. Then I bring in the audio from the Marantz. Using the slate I sync the audio and video together. Then I link both files.
    NOW...
The problem comes with what to do next. What I want to do is create a new subclip that features the synced audio and video. I want to be able to go through my footage, sync all the sound, put these combined files back into a bin for later.
OTHERWISE... the way I see it, I'd have to re-sync every time I wanted to bring in another instance of that clip... or have an instance of EVERY CLIP in my film on the timeline at once for me to pick and choose from.
In Final Cut Pro (which I had at school but don't have now), you could just drag the linked audio and video clips from the timeline to the Project window and it was automatic.
Can someone PLEASE help me figure out the equivalent function in Premiere? Even looking in the user manual there's a heading for creating subclips from the timeline, but then there's nothing under the heading explaining it.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Nick

  • TS3367 FaceTime has a problem with calling (audio, video) between two devices when they are in the different networks.

    Hi,
I have a problem with calling by FaceTime when me and my friend are in the different networks.
When i call to another device I see this call on that device and tap to the answer button after that i see a message "connecting" but the first device is trying to call in during about 1 minute and finish the call.
But if both of the devices have connected to the one network (wifi) it works correct.

Actually, it started working fine when I told it to capture
sound at 11kHz.. I should have tried that first, before making a
fuss here, sorry. Looks like some weird glitch, a driver problem
maybe, but anyway, switching to 11kHz seems to have solved
    it.

  • IMovie '11 Audio & Video Out of Sync

Hey guys like a lot of other people, I am having a problem with my audio & video synchornization with iMovie '11 on a 2011 Macbook Pro.
The video: Using iMovie '11 9.0.8-  It is 1 hour and 53 minutes long recorded through the Facetime HD Camera (1280 x 720). Audio is recorded through the internal mic.
Audio & Video get out of sync approximately 10 seconds into the video and gets progressively worse.
I have tried detaching the audio and exporting it in different formats. I have tried viewing it in MPEG Streamclip, VLC and Quicktime and it's all out of sync.
It also says "Indicates clip frame rate (24fps) is not a multiple of the current project (25fps)."
    HELP!

Thanks AppleMan1958 for the info. I will give it a try.
I would much rather keep things simple and not have to spend the money and time to learn Final Cut Pro X. It just seems silly for Apple to not include such a simple feature in iMovie 11 and force us to do these workarounds.
I am trying to make some instructional videos for my wife and I am finding I need to purchase more and more items. First a better camcorder to replace the flip with it's limited zoom and poor light ability. So I decided to get the new Canon HF R 400. Then of course a better mike so I got the Zoom H2N. So the room is a little dark so now the CN 160 led lights. Wait now I need an adapter because the Canon doesn't have a shoe to attach the lights. Oh now it seems recording HD  footage means it needs to be transcoded into files that are 6 to 10 times larger so now I need a large external drive. So I guess a workarround in imovie is better than purchasing FCPX.
The good part is that there are people such as yourself on these forums to help us newbies as we blunder along.

  • Audio/Video classes??

    Hey all-
I heard that there are audio/video training classes for certification (No physical tutor) and the cost for this one is pretty low compared to the normal training classes. Is this true?
Wil it be good to go with such audio/video classes? Will that be helpful in writnig the exam? Please suggest.
    Thanks
    M A

    Hi Shakir,
Ya, all these information is completely correct. SAP Education do provides these audio/video classes that is usually known as e-Learning sessions. These
e-Learnings are in two formats. Some of these materials will be in plain PDFs, some will be voice enabled and some will be in SAP Tutor (.sim format) such as like a demo type. here there will be no tutor and yes these are comparatively very less costly as classroom sessions.
Yes its beneficial to go for these sessions when you can not manage to go for classroom sessions. Sure this will help you in writing exams as well but keep in mind that these sessions will laways be less helpful as compared to classroom.
To access these sessions you should register with SAP Education and you will get Service Marketplace user ID and password by that you can access these sessions.
Rewarding to query will give you one point yourself. *

  • Exporting FCP to MPEG 2 with video & audio tracks COMBINED?

I want to post a film on Google Video. I'm told they like MPEG2 files, but with the audio and video combined.
How can I create an MPEG2 with the video and audio combined?
I've also been told I can change the .m2v extension to .mpg after I've encoded, without causing problems. Their 'uploader application' doesn't like the .m2v extension.
    Thanks,

Are you uploading a video to http://video.google.com/ ? You do NOT need MPEG-2 to upload videos there. Have a look at Uploading Videos at the Google Video Support page.
Compressor can only make MPEG-2 Transport Streams, not Program Streams. With a little help of a great application called MPEG Streamclip , you can easily make MPEG-2 Program Streams.
Encode your video and audio using Compressor. For audio, choose AIFF, and make sure it gets the same name as the .m2v, but of course with the right .aif suffix.
Open the .m2v file in MPEG Streamclip (the audio should automaticly load with the video file if they have the same file name). Choose the file menu and choose Covnvert To MPEG Using MP2 Audio.
    Good luck!

  • Broadcasting MPEG 2 video with multichannel audio

    Dear sir
Using PrPro 2 or CS4 I want to export MPEG 2 video with multichannel audio  ( 2 separated stereo channels ) for broadcasting purposes .
As you know there are some TV channels that allows you to switch between two audio tracks , which I am  looking to accomplish
This is some of specifications that I use for video production :
    1. Primer  DV PAL preset .
    2. AVI format
    3. Canopus Grass Valley ProCoder 3 ( to convert video from AVI to MPEG 2 ) according to the Broadcasting standers .
As you see I'm not able to separate the 2 Audio tracks when I try to export the video file.
So If you have specific method or steps to apply ( 2 separated stereo channels ) for one video file , please be kind to inform me with it .
also please let me know if I missed any details .
    Best wishes

Very very very nice that is all what I am asking for .
I tried and it worked perfectly but the file has a .VOB extinction … I changed it to .mpg and now I can play it in Windows Media Player too .
Ok , so far so good, your advise was very helpful so thank you very much but what abut broadcasting ? is it going to mach the broadcasting standers ?
I know.. these are lots of stupid questions but I am asking if you know any thing about it or some resources that can be used.
When I converted it using The ( Procoder ) to mach the broadcasting standers I got only one audio track .
I appreciate the generosity and your attention .
    Best wishes

  • MPEG videos with AC3 audio in iMovie

    Hi there,
Aplle seems to totally ignore AC3 audio streams (at least in MPEG videos)! Why?
My JVC cam corder records *.MOD files on its hard disc. Those files
are in fact MPEG2 files, but with AC3 audio.
Renaming the files makes them playable using the Quicktime Player, but
    without the sound
MPlayer is able to play them correctly, but that does not help me,
because I want to use the videos in iMovie and iDVD.
I tried installing the 'AC3 Codec.component' (what is supposed to fix
    the problem for AVI files)
and now I installed Perian, which does not do the trick either.
I can ofcourse use ffmpeg to convert the files, but that means a
quality loss and a lot of work I wanted to save by buying a Harddisk
camcorder, so I could skip the time consuming conversion from DV tapes
    to mpeg.
I there anybody out there with a solution?

QuickTime doesn't like to play the multiplexed sound on mpg videos. The QT Plugin ONLY supports video playback and NOT the audio track of such content (as you have found out).
I suggest you look at VisualHub software ( http://www.techspansion.com/ ) to convert your files to DV. It works with my problem mpg-4 files with multiplex audio. It runs in a free trial mode so you can verify it does what you want before buying it.
