Seems I just joined the (seemingly) large group of ppl failing the tests of pain given by solaris 8 x86 installation.
My sys: Compaq proliant 800 (pentium pro 200, single), 96 RAM. NCR5*** SCSI (not used, but properly terminated), Compaq Array 2/P Raid Controller with two 4,3 Gb physical Disks. Oh, and a cirrus gfx-card, two NIC's (netflex-3 and Asante, which is tulip compliant) plus a IDE cdrom.
except for the extra nic, its more or less a standard config. Old but great (I've had it serving RH 5.2, RH 6.0, Mandrake 7.1, NT 4,NT 4 TSE, and WIN 2K + Citrix)
The array is set as primary controller. The NCR is disabled. The IDE is set to secondary.
created 1 array, raid 0.
Splitted the array into 3 logical disks. (so no disk would be larger then 8 Gb).
booted with installation CD. DCA starts just fine. recognizes all hardware. great. step 2. it complains about no primary disk found, but gives me an alternate path. asks if this is ok. ok.
step 3. web install. a couple of error messages, all related to @pci/something/something.
no disks supported bla,bla,bla......
second computer: normal ide only. blank disk, all fine.
what gives ?
I am not exactly a newbie in terms of system setups. 1st time solaris though. never thought i'd have such a hard time with it...

I think we had a similar problem with a compaq dl360 server. The
driver update diskettes from compaq solved the problem, see:

Hi again, Today was the day. I got up and decided I had waited long enough, Time to get my very first Mac. I jump in the car, went over to the local Apple Shop and purchased this beautiful Mac Pro. I have a YamahaTSS-1 Home Theatre Sound System which I have connected to the Mac Pro via an optical digital outport but I can't get it to work. How should I be configuring / connecting this?
Lastly, I have purchased the stock MP with the NVidea card and 1GB Ram. I eventually want to slowly increase the Ram to 4 then 8GB. Can I start by just buying a further 2GB (2x 1GB), making a total of 3GB.then add more later?
Thanks in anticipationAssuming you went to Canon and installed it (often a two-step process) and have it hooked up... it should install some programs in /Applications and some support files in the top "/Library" as well as in "/Users/Shared"
If you want, try VueScan which seems to be better etc than Canon software. Use it in demo mode to check it out.

I have two Canon scanners and digital camera. They do work, though not sure why.
You will need more memory, 2GB as minimum.
There are tips on how to install and update software, what to avoid, what "maintenance" you will want to do.
My brother found "Mac OS X: The Missing Manual" made it a lot easier to make the switch.
Probably as good a time as any to mention backups, cloning, and repairing system and drives. You might want to clone the system, then do more updates (though it probably came with 10.4.9, else you were prompted to download and install the update already).

You'll probably want to download FireFox (2.0.0.3) and other software from the last site.
One thing to do is find Disk Utility and run Verify Drive; (wait while it writes changes and such), followed by Repair Permissions (a misnomer but good to run after any updates or installing software).
I'll leave at that. There is a lot of little things to look into.

This is beyond frustrating. I just wasted 70 dollars between a new battery and gas for my ipod 80gb classic. It was having major issues syncing and freezing with itunes. I tried everything possible and noticed that a lot of people have been having the same issues with their ipod classics as well. I must have restored it several times and now it just totally bit the dust. Now I have to shell out 130 dollars to send it in to apple to be rebuilt/fixed. This is nonsense and I just cant believe apple isn't doing anything to address this issue. My ipod was doing great for about nearly 5 years and now this. I even down-graded to itunes 10.7, but by the time I had it set up to try, that's when my ipod totally failed and will not even come on. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -
Another Dead Express Joins the club!
During the night as I slept my APX passed away. I had enjoyed it's company for the last 18 months, and now it is gone.
It seems this is not an unusual age for APX's to pass away.
I will sorely miss itunes sharing, airtunes and easy internet access for my other macs.
Hmmm will the coming "ITV" box serve as a replacement (have all the APX features)? Should I wait for it? or just buy another APX?My Airport is totally dead after about 26months. Sounded like it fused- went pop. I wasn't touching it and it had had no power interference- was on as normal- never really gets turned off. I have read many other people have had the same problems and on some websites the interior has been examined to find a rather dodgy cheap looking fuse which once overheated just goes dead.
This is bad Apple! When are you going to recall these and offer replacements???? -
When I try to connect to a WiFi network that I need a screen pops up and says "The network you're attempting to join requires you to install a profile on your Apple TV." What does this mean?
Yes, home sharing requires both to be on the same wifi network. As it stands access to the network requires the login via webpage, which cannot be done on Apple TV. You will need to speak to IT in order to grant access for the device.

I have an iMac G4 with AirPort with OS 10.4.11 installed. I keep getting an error message "There was an error joining the AirPort network "ATT5216." I called ATT U-verse - they were stumped. Any suggestions?

That's the problem. Even with no base stations available you should eventually within a few minutes get a self-assigned IP of 169.x.x.x!

Maybe you could manually configure an IP but that doesn't answer what's wrong. How about a simple test - create a new Location in Network System Preferences and see if that helps. If it doesn't then maybe a re-install of Airport or System software would help. If the Airport shows up as an available network port then the card is probably OK. -

I have a new Apple iPad2 which will not connect to my wi fi despite a new router. When I tap the correct address it comes up with the message "Unable to join the network TalkTalketc... It does connect in other peoples' houses . Am I right in thinking that the trouble is with TalkTalk?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I'm using WDS and MDT to install the computers in my network.
I recently reinstalled a server 2012R2 with the last available versions of WDS and MDT. Everything works fine except for the fact that none of my computers (different series) is installing the out of the box drivers in windows.
The network connection although is ok during setup because the computers add to the domain with the given computer name.
I'm sure I'm using the correct drivers and in my task sequence I enabled to inject all drivers.

I am not very familiar with MDT, if you used the MDT to install the drivers we can ask in the specific MDT support forum, if you are using WDS to install drivers please recheck
your drivers architecture compatible with your system, we can not use the x64 driver on x86 image.

Just installed iOS 7.0.4 on the ipad, and can no longer connect to my home locked wifi. I choose the home wifi network and the message comes back with Unable to join the network "............" Dismiss. There is no prompt for the password for the locked network. . . . Any suggestions . . . . .

Can't pay off pre-order to join Gamer Club Unlocked in weekly ad?
So I got the Best Buy ad this moring in the paper and saw the "Join Gamers Club Unlocked for $30 when you buy any new game $39.99 or above." Knowing I still had 3 preorders outstanding, I called up the Rewards Zone 866 number and asked them if I would be able to take my preorder in and just pay it in full to satisfy the requirement so I could join. Of course is what I was told and just to take my pre-order receipt into customer service.
I head into Best Buy in Castleton, Indiana (#229) and head to customer service as told with the ad and explain I called the RZ 866 number and they told me to bring it to them. After the lady handling the registered called someone, he told me that it would be no problem and he would just have to cancel my preorder and then to just pull the game card and one of the Gamers Club Unlocked cards and the register would take care of it.
Then that is when everything went South.
I hand the individual the two cards and he proceeds to tell me I could join the GCU for $30 when I buy a game. When I told him I wanted to pay in full for the game he told me I could not do that because "it's two different systems." I explained that I had already spoken to the RZ folks as well as customer service and then he told me "well I should know, I'm the video games guy." I then told him I would just come home and call the RZ folks again, asked for his name and store number which he gave me in a smug tone and I left. As I was walking out the sliding glass doors he said "have a nice day" in a condescending tone. That set me off. I turned and asked the security guy for a manager to complain about the terrible customer service and attitude and the manager was apathetic in helping me. After explaining what I was trying to do, he said he "thought" he could help me. At this point I was overly annoyed so I told him to forget about it and left.
If you look at the add, nowhere does it say you can't pay in full for a preorder game to satisfy the requirement. Obviously it can be done because the folks on the 866 number said it would be no problem and I've seen multiple posts on several video game forums of people doing it at their local store. This is probably the third time in the last year I've had issues with associates at this store on advertised deals. So what gives? Lack of training? Employees that just don't care?
So now my dilemma is do I go to another location to see if they can help me or do I just cancel all of my preorders and find a new retailer?Hello Jason,

Also I would like know if there is any stand alone SC VMM installer. If yes then please let me know the installer location & install guide.

I am new to Cisco wireless solution and would like to ask how to add the AP to the WLC properly. All Cisco 1041 and Cisco 2500 WLC are new. I connect those AP and WLC to the switch without any VLAN tag and the AP can gain the IP address from our DHCP correctly. However, the AP 1041 could not join the WLC successfully. Here is the log. I really do not have any idea about that and hope someone can help. Many thanks.

Converted 1140 AP can't join the WLC 5508
Hello! Please, help me to sort my problem out.
We have bought autonomous APs AIR-AP1141N-E-K9 and converted them to the lightweight mode, but they cannot join the WLC 5508. The errors are below. There were NO problems with the LAPs that were bought before, together with the WLC.

Please take a look at CSCte01087.
I see that your WLC is 10.0.13.5 and your AP is 10.0.13.28/24 so they are on the same subnet. I also see your AP MAC address does not begin with 00. This is why I believe it is relevant.
Please try the workaround or open a TAC case if you need a fix.

Symptom:
An access point running 6.0.188.0 code may be unable to join a WLC5508.
Messages similar to the following will be seen on the AP.
%CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Invalid AC Message Type 4.
%CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Unencrypted non-discovery CAPWAP Control Message
Conditions:
At least one of the following conditions pertains:
- The high order byte of the AP's MAC address is nonzero, and the AP is in
the same subnet as the WLC5508's management (or AP manager) interface
- The WLC's management (or AP manager) interface's default gateway's
MAC address' high order byte is nonzero.
Workaround:
If the MAC address of the WLC's default gateway does not begin with 00,
and if all of the APs' MAC addresses begin with 00, then: you can put
the APs into the same subnet as the WLC's management (or AP manager)
interface.
In the general case, for the situation where the WLC's default gateway's
MAC does not begin with 00, you can address this by changing it to begin
with 00. Some methods for doing this include:
-- use the "mac-address" command on the gateway, to set a MAC address
that begins with 00
-- then enable HSRP on the gateway (standby ip ww.xx.yy.zz) and use this
IP as the WLC's gateway.
For the case where the APs' MAC addresses do not begin with 00, then make
sure that they are *not* in the same subnet as the WLC's management
(AP manager) interface, but are behind a router.
Another workaround is to downgrade to 6.0.182.0. However, after
downgrading the WLC to 6.0.182.0, any APs that have 6.0.188.0 IOS
(i.e. 12.4(21a)JA2) still installed on them will be unable to join.
Therefore, after downgrading the WLC, the APs will need to have a
pre-12.4(21a)JA2 rcvk9w8 or k9w8 image installed on them.

IPhone 5 wi-fi "unable to join the network"
My new iPhone 5 is my first iPhone and I've had it about a week. I'm still in the process of setting it up but cannot connect to my home (secured) wi-fi. I've been reading other Apple forums and Google suggestions and it appears this is a known Apple issue? My phone came with iOS 6 installed so I have no update available. I've turned off my router and shut off my phone, rebooting both but I still get an error message when entering our wi-fi password: "unable to join the network". I've turned off cellular and re-tried wi-fi to no avail. I am NOT impressed with my first Apple product. What a hassle. Does anyone have any other suggestions to try or am I stuck waiting months for an Apple fix?
There are a couple of things that you can try. First, try disabling the security on your wifi network and see if the phone will connect. Check the type of security you are using. Some have reported the iPhone reacts differently to some wifi security. Check to see if there is a firmware update to the router. This is usually the biggest culprit of the bunch. Once routers have been updated and restarted, troubles disappear.
