The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.
For details see the store's web page on the Dual-Link display adapter.

  • IPod touch 5th gen. and iPhone 4 will not connect to home Wifi.  No issues anywhere else, just at home.  iPhone 6 had the same problem, but was able to correct with network reset.  Tried absolutley everything the boards say and nothing works.  Help.

Brand new iPod 5 and periodically will pick up our home Wifi, but when it loses it, it's impossible to reset.  Says "incorrect password" and it is the correct password.  No issue at all with Android devices or anything else on Wifi.  Only the iPod and an iPhone 4.  My iPhone 6 had the same issue, but I was able to correct it by resetting the network.  This "fix" doesn't work on the iPod or old iPhone.  Just keeps saying "incorrect password" no matter what you do.  Connection has been reset, passwords have been changed... Nothing fixes it.  And both are operating on the latest iOS update.  I just updated it.  Still doesn't work.  How crazy.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network. Yes
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before? no
Try the following to rule out a software problem:  (Not clear what you did)
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Since it connects to other networks that indicates a problem with your network

  • IPhone will not connect to home WiFi

new iPhone 4 6.0 will not connect to home wifi--other apple products (iPad & other iPhone 4) will connect to home WiFi--I experienced this problem with first iPhone 4 received 11/13--got new phone 11/26 and STILL can not connect

Is this a password protected network? Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. After that, try to connect again. This reset will remove all password and wifi information from the device and should give you a clean start to connect to the home network.

  • Over 2,000 Mail in my Inbox. Will This Slow Me?

I have 2,200 mail in my inbox and am wondering if in anyway this will significantly slow down my macbook.

Not likely to slow anything down, although size of messages can be more important than number of messages.
While I recommend moving messages to other On My Mac mailboxes in some logical structure (date range for example), I have over 14,000 messages in the Inbox for one of my accounts, and it is working not only on my Mac Pro, but also on an old QS G4.
However, size is another matter. If because of large attachments, any one mailbox were approaching 2 GB in size in Mail 2.x, then it is time to distribute the messages to other mailboxes, or delete some.

  • HT4623 Upgrading software on iPad1 - will this slow the iPad down?

    Hello
I currently hand an iPad (first generation) and I was just wondering if I upgrade to the latest iOS would this slow my iPad down?

It should not slow it down any amount that you'd notice. If you're reluctant to do so at the remote chance that it might affect performance, hold off on updating if the Apps you want to use support your iOS version (you still did not state which version it is).
To see which iOS version your iPad is running:
    Settings>About>Version
OTOH, if the Apps you wish to run require at least iOS 5.1.1, then you pretty much have no choice and updating would be required.

  • Ipod touch 5g will not connect to home wifi

Hello there! I have this problem where my ipod touch wil not let me connect to my home wifi. When I try to join, a message will pop up saying "incorrect password". I know for sure that the password is 100% right. My ipod touch had no problems connecting to the internet a few months ago, but lately many of the apps that required internet would not load even with 3 bars of signal. Therefore, this is when I decided to rest the network settings. Biggest mistake. Now it won't even let me connect to the internet. I have tried everything. Holding the home button and power button together until apple logo pops up. Updating the software to ios 6.1.3, physically turning my ipod on and off, even the modem and reseting the network settings on ipod.
Will restoring my ipod back to factory settings work?
Thank you! It will be appreciated.

  • My macbook air will not detect my home wifi anymore!

    In Summary:
Macbook air used to work perfectly on home wifi
Wifi dropped one day and all devises lost connection but when the wifi was fixed the MBA wouldn't detect it anymore even though all other devises did
MBA still works on all other wifi networks
How can I get my MBA to detect the home wifi again / why won't they link anymore?
My home wifi (Sky is the provider) dropped one day because the lines went down but after it was fixed the macbook air (2012) stopped detecting it..
The macbook will detect any other wifi network (office, public, friends houses etc) and works perfectly but will not even pick up the home wifi.
This is particularly confusing because all other devises including iphones, laptops, tablets etc will detect my home wifi without a problem.
The only time it has connected to the home wifi since dropping is when my laptop picked up my neighbour's wifi (which is rare where i live as houses are far apart) and then my home wifi showed up and worked perfectly until i closed the MBA and it wouldnt pick it up again
I have been without internet in my house for c. 6 weeks now even though the laptop appears to work ok on other networks and the home wifi works perfectly with other devices
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Go to System Preferences > Network. Select Wi-Fi or AirPort from the left column. Click the Advanced... button.
Under the Preferred Networks list, select every Wi-Fi network that appears, including the one(s) you want to use, and delete every one using the "–" (minus) button. Select the box "Remember networks this computer has joined" if it is not already selected.
    OK then Apply.
Select your wireless network in your Mac's Wi-Fi menu and provide your wireless network password. Be sure the network you select is yours and not someone else's.

  • Brand new iPod touch will not connect to home wifi

Monday I got a brand new iPod 4 to replace my previous one, as the home button had failed unexpectedly. The new iPod is working fine, running the latest iOS but when I try to connect our secure home wifi, it won't accept the password. We have reset the password and I've reset network settings. I'm so frustrated, because everything else connects to the wifi BUT my iPod will not take our correct password. What can I do? Should I take it back to Apple? I'm already annoyed by having to get a new iPod. The last one connected just fine but now this one won't.

  • Iphone 5 will not connect to home wifi or Bluetooth after iOS 7.1.1 update! Using unnecessary data please help!

My iphone 5 will not connect to my home wifi or Bluetooth after I completed the iOS 7.1.1 update. Before the update I was able to connect to my home network with no issues. Now it rarely finds my home network (unless I'm right in front of the router and even still the signal is weak) and when it does find my home wifi network it frequently disconnects from it. I followed previous suggestions to turn off router or forget network settings and re-establish them but it continues to happen.
This also happening with my Bluetooth connection. My iphone 5 would automatically connect to my home phone Bluetooth prior to the iOS 7.1.1 update. But now my device no longer connects, which means my home phone no longer rings when my cell phone is ringing.
I probably would be less worries if I did not have to monitor my data usage with Verizon. However, I do have a limited amount of data to use and I recently reached the max and had to pay extra money due to my wifi being unable to connect. Can anyone please help me with fixing this?

If you have Applecare take it back to the shop and demand a replacement.  If not you're stuffed.  It's a bug that they've put in the software to get you to buy another iphone.  You can maybe warm it up with an hairdryer near the speaker and then turn it off and put it in the freezer for 10 mins then retstart it and wi-fi is there.  It could also be a problem with the chip, if you do the freezer thing it comes back.
Apple knows its a problem as there are millions of people out there that it is happening to, in my opinion get shut and get a Samsung!!!!    That's what i've done and love my new Samsung S3 Mini miles better than the iphone!!!!
Go on youtube atnd look how many millions of people this has happened to.
Someone needs to put this in the media so they will actually do something the robbing bleeders!!!!!
Also whatever you put on these discussions will get it wiped if Apple don't like what you put!!!!

  • HT201210 Iphone 4s will not update to iOS 7.  Says an error occurred.  I have to plug my phone into the computer also because it will not connect to home wifi.  All other devices will connect to wifi though.  I have enough storage to update also.

My iphone 4s will not update to ios 7.  I'm trying to update this through my imac because the iphone will also not connect to my home wifi.  I've tried several different things but nothing is working.  I deleted enough pics and apps so there is enough storage.  When i plug it in, it starts to bring all my photos to the imac. I cancel this because i don't want it.  It then says extracting software, backing up iphone, then i get the error message.  Do I need the iphone 5?

I just tried again, no code comes up on the imac.  Just says cannot back up this device with my "initials" because of an error.  It's weird because my iphone has been connected to othert wifi sources in the past. I've looked through these forums and have tried multiple things like resetting the phone, resetting network, shutting off modem and router, nothing works.  I have an apple airport extreme router too.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Until recently, I had no problem with this connection and it will connect to BT Fon and BTOpenworld. I just cannot get it to connect at home any more. • IPhone 6 plus iOS 8.2 will not stay on home wifi

I have had to shut all cellular data off.  All laptops work fine at home this phone and my sons will not stay connected.
Thus ran data up before we noticed.

    Hi Riverbuny,
As an initial troubleshooting step for issues with Wi-Fi on a device, I suggest you first update your iPhone to the current iOS version, 8.3.
