Joining iTunes songs not from CD import

I have been collecting an mp3, AAC, m4a, etc... music library in iTunes for many years now. My old CDs are in storage because they're all burned onto my iPod, iPhone, MacBook, and Time Capsule for backup. When I purchase music these days it's almost always from the iTunes store or some other download service.
I have many individual tracks that are correctly played with their neighbors (eg Genesis' "Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers ... / In That Quiet Earth"; and countless other songs that are technically multiple tracks.)
It is not feasible or reasonable for me to go find and re-rip all of the affected CDs so engable the "join" function. Looking at 3rd party tools, I see post dates from 2005 - 2007 and don't believe those tools work with the latest iTunes.
Basically, whenever shuffle hits one of these joined tracks, I want it to play thoe whole "piece".
Is there a way to do this through iTunes or a 3rd party utility? If not, why is Apple's 'join' limited to CD import, a process less and less relevant to people who legally collect and enjoy music?
Any help would be appreciated.

  • Joining iTunes tracks - not from CD

Simply put, I bought The Load Out and Stay by Jackson Browne on iTunes. When I am listening and the list is By Artist, they run together, just like the CD or vinyl would. I'd like to listen with Shuffle, which means the songs are treated as two separate tracks. Join CD tracks is greyed out, which figures since I am not working with CDs. Any ideas on how to make these two songs always play together,no matter what??
    Thanks!!

In iTunes 11.3 you can join the tracks together by setting the gaps between tracks to none, if that is what you are looking for:   Ctrl-click or right-click the playlist to bring up the "Burn" panel, then set the "Gap between Songs" pop-up menu to "none".
Joining tracks, that they are always treated as one track, can only be done, when importing songs from CD:  (from the "Help" menu:)
    Join CD tracks
When you import songs from a CD into iTunes, you can group songs so they always play together (even when you’re shuffling songs).
Insert an audio CD into your computer’s CD or DVD drive, and click No in the window that appears.
When the songs on the CD appear in the iTunes window, hold down the Shift key to select the ones you want to join.
Click near the top-right of the iTunes window, and choose Join CD Tracks.

  • My pc crashed and erased my itunes songs purchased from the itunes store. How do i get that content back without having to purchase them again?

my pc crashed and erased my itunes songs purchased from the itunes store. How do i get that content back without having to purchase them again?

I have somewhat of a similar problem. After iTunes last update, I am missing some of my purchased files of music, ringtones, and TV shows. Possibly movies, but just thought of that and did not look yet. Seems everytime there is an iTunes update, something happens, but usually an easy fix by just deleting music files from CD's that I loaded onto iTunes and no longer recognized after an update and reload from the hard drive. This time I do not have a current back up of all the music, ringtones, and tv shows I have purchased.
So I am also wondering how can I redownload purchases without being charged when there is no file left on the hard drive. It just stays listed in iTunes though.

  • Airplay works fine in iTunes but not from the menu why?

    Hi Guys,
I have read so many answers to the question about Airplay not working both here and the internet.
Can someone give me the definative answer why I can Airplay from iTunes but not from the Macbook Pro itself i.e. no menu icon or setting to mirror.
Everyone seems to say its the age of the computer or its the firewall or the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.
Why if I can do it oneway (iTunes), I can not do it directly?
    I am using a 2011 macbook pro 10.9.3 and a apple tv 3.
Is there a hack or work around with out purchasing more software.
    Thanks

    Hey Beauvoir17,
Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, I can conclude that your MacBook is indeed compatible with AirPlay Mirroring, as outlined in the following resource:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
AirPlay Mirroring in OS X takes advantage of the hardware capabilities of recent Macs to deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance. The following Mac models support AirPlay Mirroring when using OS X Mountain Lion or later:
    - iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
    - Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
    - MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
    - MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
    - Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
If you are experiencing issues with AirPlay mirroring, I would recommend the troubleshooting steps outlines at the bottom of the article.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

I am continuously being sent to join itunes store; not being allowed to get into app store

No I didn't have an iTunes account, but followed the subscription registration for iTunes as directed.  Do I have to wait 10 days?

  • Album Artwork on songs NOT from iTunes?

    Hey
I bought some Hindi albums recently off some random music website (this was before I realized they were also on iTunes) and I tried using the "Get Album Artwork" feature for all of the songs, except it never works. It always tells me that the artwork could not be found. I am editing the song info so that they say exactly what the tracks in iTunes say, and yet it does not work. Is this because this feature only works on songs purchased from iTunes? What can I do?
    Thanks

if iTunes store doesn't have the artist or the album, then no, the artwork cannot be added using iTunes' features - they just don't have the right image. I also have troubles when trying to find album artwork when the album NAME doesn't agree with how iTunes has spelled it. Try looking through the store and search for your artist by name and see if anything comes up. Else, you'll have to manually add them. Try looking on 'zon-Ama' for the image.

  • ITunes songs not playing

    Hello,
A few songs that I downloaded from iTunes are not showing up in my iTunes library. They are located on my desktop and when I try to play them, iTunes opens but nothing happens (the songs do not appear). When I try to play the songs using windows media player it says that the "file has an extension that does not match the file format" and then "one or more codecs required to play the file could not be found." Lots of files were moved around on my computer, could this be why? Is there anything I can do to be able to play these songs again? Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
    Thanks:)

Have you moved your music around? Sounds like it's been moved and is not where iTunes expects to find it.

  • ITunes+ Songs not playing in Windows Media Player 11

So I got a new PC. On the previous PC i had been using windows Media player and playing songs purchased in iTunes+ in WMP.
So I transferred all my songs to an external HD. Then on my new PC I pointed the folder in WMP to the external HD and it imported all my music, except for my iTunes+ songs.
I have also purchased 2 new iTunes+ songs and they will not import into WMP or play in WMP.
What do I need to do?

Is it possible the problem is that on the previous pc I was running Windows 7 and on the new PC I'm running Vista Premium?

  • TS2634 itunes song not on iphone

I just purchased two albums on Itunes on my mac. Only three of the songs are showing up on the iphone despite multiple syncs and downloads. What should I do?

I have a similar problem - I have an extensive library in iTunes, but certain songs and albums are not sync'ing to my iPhone, no matter what I try. And the source for the songs in iTunes vary. Sometimes the songs originally came from a CD I own that I ripped, sometimes downloaded from iTunes, sometimes downloaded from Amazon. In all cases, the music is visible both in my iTunes library and on my hard drive.
I tried finding the song (and the file folder it's in) on my hard drive, then right clicking, then selecting Send to (my iPhone), but i get an error message that the device has either stopped responding or is not connected (although my phone is connected and is recognized by iTunes!). Help!

  • ITunes songs not working...

I imported itunes songs and rendered them (they were purchased in the itunes store) and they wont work.. other songs work that I've gotten from cds, all those are mp3's. The itunes songs are m4p's and cannot be converted b/c they are locked. Any suggestions?..

Yes, I'd suggest being considerate of the copyright holder and abiding by the terms of your iTunes agreement. Don't use protected songs in non-permitted ways. If you absolutely must use the song, purchase a license to use it from the owner.

  • Airplay dropouts - only on some tracks in iTunes and not from iPhone

    Hi
I experience heavy Airplay dropouts on certain tracks in my collection. And when I play the exact same track from my iPhone4 there is no problem. So I expect it to be an issue with iTunes and not a network bandwidth issue.
What I noticed is that it occur more often on tracks with a high bitrate than on tracks with low bitrate - but not always. Almost all my tracks is 320 kbps mp3.
However I've also experienced the problem on AAC tracks purchased from iTunes Store.
And finally some podcasts play completely without any dropout, and others drop out after a few seconds.
The above scenarios are easy reproduceable, and I think it might be an iTunes time specific problem when decoding the file and filling the airplay buffer.
I don't think it's a general computer resource problem, as the max CPU usage is approximately 2-3% and 0-1% most of the time. There is also plenty of memory available.
Are anybody else experiencing the same problem? Or maybe has a solution for the problem?
    Laptop facts:
    Dell E6510
    CPU Intel core I7
    Windows 7 64 bit.
    iTunes 10.2.0.34

Have just tried Airfoil and then there is no problem. So it must be an iTunes issue...

  • Find which country store was an iTunes song purchased from?

I found some old purchased iTunes songs on my laptop and I'm curious how can I find out which country/store that I bought them from. Since I'm an iTunes music collector so I have a lot of different iTunes accounts for many foreign stores. So I just want to ask if it's possible for me to find out which store I bought a song from. Thanks!

Which countries have you been to and purchased songs whilst you've been there ? You can view your purchase history via your computer's iTunes, that will show you the currency : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store - Apple Support.

  • Itunes does not play after importing into timeline

I have looked at similar topics in this discussion forum but still unable to get the answers.Basically the problem is that after importing (purchased) itunes(6) music(and it imports OK)there is no music when played back in the time line.In the imovie palette (audio view) the itunes music plays normally.CD is also greyed out even if there is a CD in the CD drive,so obviously CD tracks cannot be played.Itunes 'by itself' plays normally and CD is also recognised.Voice overs thru microphone, original audio from footage also plays normally. All boxes ticked on the right/computer volume set to high etc so setting seems allright.I am using formac studio to import analogue footage and can hear the original sound when importing.Using imovie 3.03 on ibook.this may/maynot be relevant-on the G3 imac in imovie(3.03)the itunes/CD tracks imports and plays on the timeline, however the original footage soundtrack sounds like gunfire from a machine gun.It is normal with the imported itunes soundtrack switched off.
    Grateful for any thoughts/adv

Hi rav - are you sure that if you have a CD installed you cannot see its tracks in the Audio Pane? Even though 'Audio CD' is greyed out, the contents of the CD are still there and accessible.
Can you convert the track to mp3 format? iMovie does accept mp3s. Doing so might break the deadlock.
Sorry, I can't help with your other audio issue.
