Joining paths chronologically (endpoint of objects with startpoint of the above insteadof automatic detection)

Just like the topic says, is there a way (scripting?) to join paths (i think of about 100-500 of more or less detailed vector scribbles) by connecting every endpoint to the startpoint of the following object above?

1) You see the original scribble, 4 brush strokes, every stroke beginning in the bottom and directed to top-right.
2) The result of selecting strokes > right-click > join produces automatically detected path, connecting the nearest (?) anchors.
3) What it should be: end-point of the first stroke should join with start-point of second and so on.
Would this be possible? This would save enormous amounts of time while animating paths in after effects.

Shuffle Answers with "All of the above" option

I want to use the "Shuffle Answers" of the Multiple Choice quiz type, but I also want to include the "All of the above" answer.
Is there a way to Shuffle the 3 or 4 answers while keeping the "All of the above" answer at the bottom of the list?

Join-path to multiple child paths

I am trying to do this:
$logDateUSA = Join-Path -path $logDate.Substring(4,2) -childPath $logDate.Substring(6,2), $logDate.Substring(0,4);
But I get the error:
Join-Path : Cannot convert 'System.Object[]' to the type 'System.String' required by parameter 'ChildPath'. Specified method is not supported.
Where am i going wrong?

That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM. Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
Is slim involved? Probably. That is the source of many problems. But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx". Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit. That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult. So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc. This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic. Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them. Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
Edit: adding one more:
4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox. I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

Scale Object with Panel, but what about inside a Tab control?

The Scale Object with Panel option works very well for simple UI
objects. I like to use it for VIs that display tables or
multicolumn listboxes, etc. I am finding a limitation when I use
the Tab control. If I have a table or listbox in each tab, I
would like them to scale with the panel. I would also like the
tab to scale. It should look like an Excel workbook where all
sheets scale with the window even though they are each on their own
tab. If I could only Group the various tables / lists with the
Tab itself....
This wouldn't be such an issue if the Bounds property of the
multicolumn listbox was writable. I can set the number of rows
and columns, but column size can be variable and not uniform across all
columns. Also, that solution looks and behaves much different
from the Scale Object with Panel approach.... not to mention the extra
coding required.
I'm guessing that this amounts to a feature request, but if anyone has a present-version workaround, I'd love to hear about it.

My problem is that i cannot select "Scale object with pane" for the controls inside a Tab control if the Tab control "Scale object with pane" is turned on. I want both the Tab control and the controls inside to be scaled, for instance an Waveform graph or an textbox when i resize my main window.

I have a 2nd gen Mac book air with Lion. The hard disk has filled up even though i keep my data , music etc on hard drive . I used disk inspector to find where problem was and it is 20GB in the hidden files under the user directory can i resolve this ?

I have a 2nd Gen MAc book Air with Lion . The 60GB hard disc has quickly filled up despite me keeping most of my data on a portable hard drive . I used disk inspector to locate the problem but found that it was was in 20 GB of hidden files in my user directory . Is this correct and is there anything i can do about it ? Using disk inspector you can not see individual hudden diretories or files. I did unhide them but there is a mass of diretories etc and so no way i could see if this is one or multiple files using the space. Library System and Applications are at 4 3 and 3 GB respectvely. The data I actually keep on there is 9GB Thanks for any help

I think the problem is Quick Time Player. I am using OS 10.6.8 by the way.
I tried it out again.
I had about 26 GB of space before I played an .avi video.
After the movie started to play (it was slow to load), I got a warning message that my startup disk was full. I opened Disk Utility and it told me I had no space left (about 20 MB or something like that was left).
I watched to the end of the movie.
Then I quit Quicktime Player.
And I shut down the computer.
I turned on the computer and checked Disk Utility. I have about 26 GB of space.
I think for some reason Quicktime Player uses up a lot of the disk space when it runs movies that are problematic. This movie I was watching did not open with vlc.
I normally use vlc to watch movies.
Probably it doesn't use up this much space when the movie is OK.
I think there's a problem with this particular movie. It is about 50 MB so it's not that big a file. I watch .smi subtitles with it. The Quicktime Player automatically loads the subtitle file in this case because the subtitle file has the same name as the movie file.
I watched about 10 movie files from the same series that I downloaded together and did not have any problem watching them. I watched them on vlc. But this latest movie had problems I think (as I repeat). It did not load on vlc even though I waited for a minute, and normally movies load instantly on vlc.
So I think that movie file caused problems. It made QT player use up a lot of hard disk space.
I had better avoid watching that movie in the future. I don't want it to wreck my hard drive.
So to sum up, everything is back to normal. I have the hard disk space that I should have. However, I am scared of damaging my hard drive due to shonky movie files that eat up all the space when they are played using QT player, and so I will not watch those files in the future, as I do not know why the files do that.

How do i join multiple paths to make one object.....

.... so as to be able to apply a fill over the whole object??
This might sound more obvious than it actually is in this case so i'll explain. My partners artwork contains a lot of linework and unfortunately, i can't get the degree of accuracy i need with a continous path. Therefore, the problem i have is joining lots of paths (some of which have endpoints joining midway through other paths) to make a single object with the strokes preserved, so i can apply a fill to the overall object or to individual sections.
I've tried unite, join and all the other commands that i'm aware of but all give undesired effects. I've tried using a compund path but all that does is make them act as one but still doesn't do what i need with regards to filling the object.
A simplified example of what i need to achieve is this...... create a square using 4 seperate paths and then a cross through the middle using more seperate paths to create a 4 box square. I need to be able to make this one object so i can fill each individual square a different colour if need be??
This is something i've found i will need to be able to do on a regular basis so any help is gratefully received

We are trying to make one of our first views. I joined the schema in attach.
The first part is a join between 3 tables: FMIFIIT and 2 dependent tables for further information.
For the second part I made an analytical view on FMIFIIT making totals based on 3 secondary key fields.
I would like to join the first view with the second one, so I can add total amounts to every detail line.
But I always get an error when activating the analytical view:

FM or BAPI - get objects with evaluation path

In my last course HR350 we used a function module to get all object with an evaluation path in OM..
I just dont know this FM anymore and cant find it.
Which FM do i need for to get all objects for the evaluation path "L-D-E"

The selected objects cannot be joined as they are invalid objects,( Compound paths, closed paths, Text Objects, Graphs, Live Paint group). You can use Join command to connect two or more paths, paths in groups; ot to close an open path.

This sound like a firewall issue. I would start by disabling the firewall and seeing if you can connect. If this works then you know where the problem is,

How to move an object with its animation path, without adding a new keyframe?

Hi,
If I create an object which has a keyframe animation, how can I change its location/scale without adding new keyframes? That is, I want to move the whole thing with all its animations & keyframes as a single entity.

Is there any way just to move an object and its path without making a new copy?

Join Paths

Let me select multiple paths, and where the endpoints occupy the same position (or within a user-definable distance), choose Object > Join Paths.
I work with DWG site plans within Illustrator frequently. When these files are imported, complex paths are broken into line segments. It is not uncommon to wind up with several THOUSAND line segments in a single site plan. Having to select the endpoints of each of these segments and join them is a real drag (sorry).
I know the the illustrati call us former FreeHand users whiners, but this is a feature FH had for years.

did a wonderfull job with it's "concatenate and assimilate plugins", and also with an extended and very useful selection menu.
Unfortunately he doesn't seems to be able to compilate the plugin for Ilustrator cs4 pc.It's a shame, I have to keep my old cs2 in order to do the job.
I don't understand why this kind of feature doesn't exist in illustrator, after more than 14 versions.
We are using more than 520 layers and the workflow :"select two point then join ..is pitifully slow". It's simply madness

Where did the possibility to join two smooth endpoints into one go?

I used get a dialog box when joining two overlapping endpoint, that is if they truly were on top of each other. I would get a dialog box when selecting two endpoints and pressing cmd+j where I could choose either smooth or corner.
Now in Illustrator CS6 I do not get any dialog box no matter what I do and it always joins the two endpoints as corner even thoug they both started out as smooth - that is had both their arms. Is there another way to do this now?

Well ... since I use "Average and join" all the time and very seldom only "Join" I just switched the shortcuts, so now Join has the 4-keys shortcut.
Actually I can't think of a time I needed the corner join. Most of the time I use Pen Tool, and join paths with that, and with corner joins I just remove any excess points, but with more difficult smooth path constructions I find I often need the smooth join.
I never figured why one can't select more than one arm like you can select more than one point ... it would make altering symetric paths symetrically so much easier.

Error: There are multiple join paths between these folders

I occasionally see this multiple join path error message when collapsing a field in a cross-tab report. The strange thing is that this error only occurs when collapsing on detail of the field, but does not happen when collapsing on the field title. For example, if the column is the department field, there is no error when collapsing on the department title at the top of the column. However, when collapsing on a single department (e.g. president_office) then the error occurs. The second odd thing, when reviewing the SQL there is only one join to the department table.
Does anyone have an explanation, solution, or a suggestion on how to debug this error? Sometimes I found that by rearranging the layout of the fields fixes the problem, but this is not an option in every report.

Since it's using the "Firstname lastname" to reference the user when I use add-distributiongroupmember, I suspect that referencing the smtp address would return different results.
Does Add-DistributionGroupMember reference AD objects, even if they don't have an associated mailbox? I ran into the same error when giving myself full permissions on a mailbox; I have only one Exchange object (a mailbox) but I have a second
AD object (user object with dom admin rights). I then went and found that the user I had trouble adding to the DG has an
AD object with no associated mailbox. (We frequently create AD users for business partners to access published remote applications.)
My suspicion is that Add-DistributionGroupMember references AD objects, and not just valid Exchange recipients. This would make sense if you're using security enabled groups and having them pull double duty - which we don't do at this company.
