Joining Tracks

Recently purchased an iPod Touch. I want to put all my audio books (on CD) into iTunes to sync to the iPod.
When importing each CD, I "joined" the tracks. After 5 books downloaded with no problem "join tracks" greyed out. WHY? How can I get it back.
I rebooted the computer; tried different discs; no luck. Any thoughts?
Thanks

FWIW, have a look @ [this_|http://mysite.verizon.net/teridon/audiobookhelper/index.html].

  • Where has the Join Tracks command moved to in iTunes 11?

I have installed the latest version of iTunes and began rippng an audiobook. It took me a few minutes to navigate the new interface to figure out how to Join CD Tracks, but the first 10 CDs worked fine, then the last CD had no visible "Join CD Tracks" item on the Options pull dowm. I selected all the items but no 'Join' appears. In searching the online resources it appears iTunes does not think these are joinable, but they are certainly next to one another on the CD I am ripping. Any idea or hellp would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Are thre tracks listed in the correct order? If you select a different sort order to the track number (i.e. songs title alphabetical order, by clicking on the top of the name column), then you cannot join tracks.
    In the screenshot below (that I took for another post, earlier today);
notice the arrow at the top of the number column. That tells me that the tracks are in track order. If the arrow is pointing the other way, or it's at the top of one of the other columns, you cannot use Join Tracks. In that case, simply click on the top of the number column until the arrow is pointing upwards.

  • Unable to join tracks using itunes 11.1.5.5

Used to be able to select cd tracks and join them using the "option" drop-down. Now that drop-down only shows "get track names" & "submit CD track names". Any solutions known? Started about a week ago.

Just found it:  you need to highlight the column on the farthest left before the "Join Tracks'  Will show up..  That's the column to the left of name.
    Huh? Are you sure?
You cannot highlight a column - if you click on a column, it sorts by that column. Also, the column to the left of the name is a tick-box column, which cannot be sorted or highlighted.
However, the column to the left of that, the one with the numbers in it, as shown in my screenshots, is the track number. If you have clicked on it, you will have reversed the track order and Join CD Tracks will not be available. Look:
But if the number column is clicked again, putting the songs into the correct order, then the Join CD Tracks is there - as explained in my previous post:
Note the direction of the arrow in the number column in each shot.

  • Ripping to lossless-Why no join tracks option?

I've found that when I try to rip tracks from CD to Apple Lossless, the option to Join tracks is grayed out. Combining tracks seems to be the only way to get continuous music in separate tracks to play continuously, but it's not available even when I have the tracks selected. Anyone have a clue?

The command Advanced > Join CD Tracks, should work the same with Apple Lossless as with any other encoding format.  (It does on my machine.)
Have you verified that Join is working correctly with other formats than Apple Lossless?
A common catch with Join is that it will be grayed out if the listing is sorted by something other than the "normal" sequence.  Is this an issue in your case?

  • Join tracks option removed in iTunes 11.0.4.4?

I just updated to iTunes for Windows (64-bit) 11.0.4.4 and was trying to rip an audiobook CD. In the past, there was an option under Options, where you select the tracks you would like to join and then the option would appear to join the tracks at the time of ripping.
I don't find this option anymore. I wonder if this option is removed or it is hidden somewhere else?
    Bonus question -
    - If anyone here rips their audiobooks to m4b, directly from the CD. What applications do you use on Windows 7?
    - Is there any other audio ripper, that provides error correction like iTunes and offers joining the tracks at the time of ripping?
    Thanks in advance.

With the CD in view and the tracks listed in ascending order select two or more consecutive tracks, then click the Options tool near the top right of the iTunes windows and then Join CD Tracks.
    Bonus answer:
See Audiobooks on iPods. While my older audiobooks still exist as playlists these days I tend to use iTunes for the rip (without joining tracks) and then Chapter & Verse to make them up to a single chapterized book as it easier than having to recall which chapter you were up to, but still gives you chaper titles if you want them.

  • Problem with joining tracks

Have been using the Join tracks function for a long time and know how to do it, but for some reason the past few days it won't come up in the options

Did you delete the files completely by moving them to the recycle bin, then emptying it?
Also just have a read of this. Need to check whether you've seen it or not.

Are you highlighting the tracks you want to join before you go to Advanced>Join CD tracks? the function will be dimmed until a selection is made.

Open iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing and change the setting in the drop down menu beside "On CD insert" from "Import CD" to one of the other settings such as "Show CD", "Begin Playing" or "Ask to Import CD"

  • Can't "Join Tracks" Again

My computer has OS 10.8.5 and i Tunes 11.1.5 (5).
I downloaded 4 audio books this last month and joined tracks on all.  Today the join tracks feature is GONE.  I have to download a book with 17 discs and at least 10 tracks per disc, 170 tracks give or take a few so that ˆcan convert to MP3 to shrink the volume. This afternoon I downloaded the iTunes 11.1.5 (5) to try to fix the issue, no luck.  I'm wondering if there is a limited number of times this feature can be used and then it goes away.  The last time this happened join tracks was gone for at least 2 years.  It gets frusturating when it doesn't work.  Think Genius Bar could help?

    Join CD tracks
When you import songs from a CD into iTunes, you can group songs so they always play together (even when you’re shuffling songs).
Insert an audio CD into your computer’s CD or DVD drive, and click No in the window that appears.
When the songs on the CD appear in the iTunes window, hold down the Shift key to select the ones you want to join.
Click near the top-right of the iTunes window, and choose Join CD Tracks.
ps: I tried this and when the cd was inserted there wasn't a new window that opened, but in the top right corner of iTunes there was an option to join tracks.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to join tracks when iTunes can't see the CD

    I have a convoluted issue.
From this post <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4567334&#4567334> I understand that in order for iTunes to see my CD it needs to be in Standard format. (In my case the files are MP3s and a Windows Executable.... On my windows machine it auto-launched MusicMatch.)
Most of the time, the work-around of selecting the files in the Finder and dragging them to iTunes would be fine.
Unfortunately, the 43 tracks on the CD in question are an audiobook which I'd like to join together as ONE track. From other posts I've read, I understand the only time one can join tracks is when importing from the CD in iTunes.
Since iTunes can't see the CD, is there any other way to join the tracks?
I have several CDs worth of audiobooks and would hate to have 17 gazillion tracks floating around my iTunes and iPod....
Thanks for any help you can give me.

    G5 iMac Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I've found a work-around. It's not exactly a zippy process, but in the end I did end up with a conjoined bookmarkable AAC file rather than 43 separate MP3s.
At <http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/importing-mp3-cds/> I learned more about the settings needed for importing my tracks to iTunes. Unfortunately, using the .m3u file didn't work for me but it may for others. (I suspect it was because the CD was created with MusicMatch in mind, rather than iTunes.)
The FAQ at aldoblog.com gave me my next ray of hope.
    <http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/frequently-asked-questions/#q5>
Here I found a link to Doug Adam's "Join Together" which can stitch together tracks after they've been imported into iTunes.

I hope this helps someone else trying to do this...

  • Can't find join tracks in iTunes 12

I can't find join tracks option in iTunes 12

Hooray I finally found a solution to join CD tracks for audio books in itunes 12.
It took a lot of exerimenting and reading forums but this is what works for me.
    1) Insert disk (obviously)
    2) Click on Edit and select select all
    3) At this point be sure the CD is not already downloading.  If it is click the X on the "Importing" bar to stop the import
    4) Click twice on the blank task bar above the track numbers.  (left of Name).  You need to click twice so that the track numbers are numerical low to high.
    5) Go to the Options toggle to the far right on task bar. Click to open and the Join CD Tracks will be listed!
    6)  Click on Import CD
    and voila it works

  • Trouble joining tracks

Forgot to join tracks before importing. Deleted tracks and tried again. Now itunes will let me join two tracks, but not the whole album. Tried the tricks posted in the forum, clicking on reorder tracks, changing to gapless album. Neither works. Other forum posts suggest that itunes has a memory and if you mess it up the first time, you're dead. I can still join multiple tracks on other CDs just fine.

Join tracks option is only available when ripping from CD. To join tracks later you will need to another another program.
