Jon McLaughlin's bio is wrong

You have linked the bio for John McLaughlin to the bio of Jon McLaughlin. Jon is the latest artist with a free song on iTunes, while John is an older artist.
Apple should create a way to report errors in either iTunes or in the song database. For example, some of the song titles in Stevie Wonder's Musiquarium are mixed up - wrong title on the wrong track.

Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.

  • Bios reporting wrong value memory

I am still running on my old AMD Athlon XP 1800+ on MS-6330 Motherboard.
    I have 3 RAM slots: 512kb, 128kb, 512kb. (max allowed 1.5gb).
I have S.I.W. (Systems Information for Windows) installed that reports this as correct. However, since reinstalling XP following a drive failure, S.I.W. now reports that BIOS is reporting the wrong value; i.e. total 512kb only.
My question is; Is this a hiccup in BIOS or SIW?
Has anyone had a similar experience please?

how much the bios counts during bios post?

  • BIOS goes wrong!!!?

what do you do if when you update your BIOS it goes wrong?? i.e. you restart and everything just messes up ???

    Hi
What link for Bios rescue where you using if its
     http://www.m-m.me.uk/Macs/index_files/Page561.htm
best use the latest issued which is 1.8B1  either the rar or zip.
Format a floppy using XP and select the ms-dos startup disk. then extract either of these files to it, DO NOT overwrite the command.com file when asked, but over write the rest.
That is the bios flash disk, as well as being the rescue disk.Simply reboot with floppy in drive, and it will load freedos, and copy bios files to a Virtual ramdisk, then it will ask if you want to proceed to flash, a 'Y' will start prog, it will erase existing and then copy new, takes about 10 secs.  This is safest way, and easiest.. Make sure your mem is OK, before you start. Even use an old stick.
    cheers

is here a solution for or is the rom file the problem. the bios 1.30win is ok

  • X120e : SIW reports that BIOS gives Wrong Values re: Memory. Is this new?

    hello
I had just updated to the latest bios so don't know if something is amiss there.  my x120e has one mem module, a 4gb Crucial part, runs fine, no bsods no errors that are apparent to the user.
anyone know what causes this or if it is spurious?  the main reason I would like to know is that I was about to buy a matching 4gb module, but if perchance the part in here is not just-right for this system, then I shall buy 2 in a matched pair and sell this one.
    thanks for your help

What is SIW reporting? What is expected?

  • Kt6vlsr 1.9 bios reports wrong cpu

just updated and now everything reports my xp3000+ as a xp [email protected]
fsb is set to 200.everything works ok but flashed back anyway to 1.7
    hope they can sort this
    any help appricated

If the CPU is configured correctly it might be a problem with the CPU name string table in the BIOS' POST-kernel... This means that the AMD K7-PR-Rating string that's displayed during POST is incorrect. Since this is only a string it isn't something to worry about... it just 'looks' a bit crap.

    mainboard S/N is MS-7597 VER 1.1
That's not the S/N. You can find the S/N on a white sticker on the box or on the back of the board:

  • Wrong Motherboard Model Number in BIOS won't let Recovery CD run

    Hello all,
Scoured the internet for an answer, and haven't found anything to help, so I thought I'd ask here. Trying to resurrect an old Toshiba Satellite P100 of mine.
I'm trying to reformat it with the Windows XP Professional SP3 recovery disc (ancient OS, I know; don't ask why I'm using it, just am) that came with my laptop.
However, it won't run because the motherboard model number in my BIOS is wrong. I get the following message:
"This Recovery and Applications CD is not configured to work with this machine (ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ)
This CD is for: Satellite P100,Satellite P105
Please use the correct Recovery and Applications CD"
That series of y's with umlauts is what's showing as the mainboard model number in CPU-Z. I know what my actual number is, and that definitely ain't it. I've run this same recovery disc on this very motherboard before and it worked no problem. I don't really know why the model number would have changed since then.
I've tried resetting BIOS and flashing new BIOS as well, and nothing changes the model number to the correct one. Is there any way that I can correct it?
I know that I have a bad RTC battery/CMOS battery. I'm not sure if that could have caused the model number change. All I can tell so far is that it's messing with the BIOS time, but I didn't know if it could have changed the model number. I can't just replace it because apparently the battery is soldered to the motherboard for p100/p105 models, and if I have to buy a new motherboard then I think I'll just give up.
The laptop is obviously out of warranty, so it's not like I can send it to a certified Toshiba repair center or anything. I'd like to use my recovery disk to reinstall XP Pro with all the original drivers and programs since there are a few on there that I'd have to pay for otherwise to reinstall since they didn't come with product keys. If there is any other way to format and reinstall to factory settings without the cd, I'm open to it and would must appreciative.
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, Toshiba does not supply the utility that fixes the DMI string for your model. (It would be like this one.) Toshiba expects you to take it to a dealer for resetting.
If you have or obtain a Windows XP installation CD, I can help you with installation.

  • 790GX-G65: BIOS v1.40 wrong from MSI ??

    Hi everybody,
decided to install the latest BIOS for the 7576, currently v1.3.
Both ways tell me the BIOS is wrong:
-MBIOS from USB drive: ROM-ID mismatch
    -LiveUpdate: BIOS checksum error
Since both use different BIOS files, there seems to be something wrong.
v1.4 is dated 30.07., so some days old. WTH is nobody else having this issue with BIOS v1.4 here??
I currently DO have the correct BIOS 1.3. Running well, no issues. Do not tell me 'don't flash if it is running fine'. I know what I'm doing.
BTW, protection is off. Flashed with both ways before.

MSI Live Update is stupid and should be avoided and M-Flash has become a known trouble-maker as well.  So, please, >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<.
Clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from your PSU before flashing to make sure nothing is overclocked.
This would not report bad CRC. And the M/B is not overclocked.
As I said, both ways worked before, without reporting anything wrong.
Will try to boot from the USB stick and flash directly.

  • Lenovo B570 (F2)NO BIOS ACCESS, no (F12) BOOT order Access

Hello everyone, Yesterday I got a brand new B570. After first power on I got access to Bios (F2) and Bootorder (F12).
Today, after installation of a win7/64 the B570 refuses to enter BIOS and Bootorder table.
I found this :  message in this forum BIOS Access B570 i5 Sandybridge but it didn't work:
He suggested: remove battery, remove BIOS battery and press power button for 30-40s.
Has anybody an idea? I think BIOS rememered a wrong state of windows shutdown situation?
May BIOS thinks that Windows in hibernation?
Are there any suggestion or a way how I could reset BIOS this wrong situation ?
    Thanks in advanced
    Wolf

I have a circa Nov 2011 B570 that is now showing this problem.  It's out of the extended warranty as of Nov 14.
History:  on Mon 3/16 while doing typing after a suspend I heard the awful "tink tink" similar to a HDD crash, got a blue screen and then nothing, just sat there for over 10 minutes trying to load the error data.  Powered off/on and now after PO and holding F2 it goes into the Please Wait .... with the blue task bar on the right at about 50% and nothing else happens.
I removed the HDD and same symptoms.  Borrowed a known good 320G SATA drive from my son and same symptoms.  Disconn/reconn the BIOS battery on motherboard (I think that's what it is, small white plug accessable with large back HDD cover off near HDD compartment) no change. Tried the disconn and hold power button for 30 seconds shown in this forum, then reconn power and same symptoms.
I'm not going to pay for a new motherboard but it's frustrating a never-had-a-problem system goes "casters up" and isn't quite 3.5 yrs old.  Anyone got other ideas on what to try?  I do have both the recovery CD and a recent windows/system backup to a USB external drive if it turns out to be the HDD but I cannot get far enough to tell and am not enough of a PC expert to know how to force the way into setup or BIOS.

  • Thinkpad edge s230u twist can't access bios by F1,bios recovery

When I tried to update win8.1 updates KB3000850, it failed via auto-update or installation. Follow the Microsoft guide to restart laptop into safe mode, installation failed also. Then I chose safe mode with minimum way to restart laptop. Then laptop halted down at Lenovo logo.
At first, I thought bios is modified by windows8.1(x64) and it can't load any hard disk to boot. With a couple of days test, I found a way to flash BIOS at very beginning of laptop boot. BIOS can be updated. But there is still no startup option to set boot sequence. My laptop is still halted down at Lenovo logo, same as BIOS update. I can only access bios by keeping real clock error which I generated by clearing BIOS.
if no real clock error, i can't access bios. And f1 and f12 doesn't work. At the lonovo logo screen, Enter doesn't work also although it hints me to press Enter.
In my laptop bios, there is no startup option even I udate it.
can somebody help me on this? Lenovo service center just aksed me to change board.
Here I share the bios crisis recovery solution for s230u, may also for other models.
Laptop: ThinkPad edge s230u twist 3347-3QC
    Bios: 1.67, UEFI.
    OS:windows 8.1 x64
How to do BIOS crisi recovery:
    1. Download bios(exe version) from Lenovo website
    2. Run it, and release file. Uncheck the installation at last. Remember the release location. You can get the bios in .fl1 format, mine is in ..\gduj21us\GDETA9WW\
    3. Rename it as BIOS.cap and copy it into a new formatted USB stick with FAT32 in root directory.
    4. Shutdown Laptop and disconnect AC cord. Insert USB stick.
    5. Hold Fn+R, plugging in AC power. And power-on.
    6. USB stick is blinking, then you can release key. A short while, after a lenovo logo, flashing screen shows.
    7. After flash, laptop will restart or shutdown.
In BIOS, it shows new version. If new bios is new one, flashing takes a longer time than a very short time for same version flashing.

I tried 1.02, it will try to read USB stick, then shutdown, restart, read again, laptop would be in this cycle. It's same when i changed one Bit by hex-editor of 1.69 version. I also try to use PhoenixTool 2.59 to rebuild BIOS after change one or two Bits of extracted roms. same status also, it took the changed bios as wrong input, enter the above cycle also.
I tried 1.53, it can show lenovo logo, and flashing screen, but it hints that BIOS should be qual or newer.
I still wait for some on guide. Thanks in advance.

  • Does Toshiba supports an BIOS Update Utility like DCCU?

    Hi all
Different notebook manufacturer use a utility called the Client Configuration Utility (DCCU) which can be used to update the BIOS for multiple notebook models from the series.
I have searched these forums and the web but I cannot find a similar tool for Toshiba laptops.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
    Thanks
    Scott
    Edited by: admin

    > My firm has hundreds of laptops from another large manufacturer who do supply the DCCU utility to centrally manage BIOS updates and other BIOS settings, such as enabling/disabling options like Wake On LAN.
Well, the Toshiba provides a tool called Toshiba HWSetup. Using this tool you can change the different BIOS settings like booting order, wake up on LAN, etc very easily in the Windows OS.
As you know BIOS update is always risky and the BIOS update procedure is not always the same on all Toshiba notebooks series. The wrong BIOS or wrong update procedure can damage the motherboards ROM.
Therefore the BIOS update must be done on single notebook.
    > Why is it that this particular manufacturer can create the DCCU utility that works for all machine models and Toshiba cannot produce a similar utility please?
Who knows ?:| I didnt find such informations in the internet or on the Toshiba page Such questions can be answered by a Toshiba technician or Toshiba manager but as you probably dont know this is a user-to-user forum and a simply user like me and you dont know such details In my personal opinion every manufacturer have own policies and restrictionsThat's all

  • Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update

    Hi.
Yesterday I did a BIOS update on my Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E-03Z00QGR with the appropriate flash:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=624&langua ge=17&selOS=10&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload =&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=userMachines&search =&action=search&macId=&country=all&selectedLanguag e=17&type=all&page=1&ID=58477&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42
    bios-20070709111839.zip
After the flashing procedure the machine rebooted automatically, but unfortunately it now keeps hanging at the Thoshiba welcome screen. Also pressing F2 or F12 won't change anything. It seems like the BIOS is corrupt.
I saw, that in the BIOS package are delivered two flash files (s10gm590.rom and s10pm590.rom). But just executing the SanAntonion10 BIOS590MP.exe a .vbs script is started that decides automatically chooses and loads a flash file. Maybe it chose the wrong one?
What shall I do now? Is there a way to restore the BIOS, or do I have to send my notebook in?
    Thanks in advance
    MAT

    > Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update
What to say Marc. It looks like you have used a wrong BIOS version or you have updated the BIOS in wrong way.
You could try to access the BIOS and try to set the settings to default.
Dont forget to save the settings if you will exit the BIOS.
But if this procedure does not help, you will have to contact the ASP in your country.
Possibly the guys will try to flash the BIOS again with other special version.
    Good luck

  • Bios Update....what is it?

Would anyone who is really informed be kind enough to tell me about the 'BIOS Update' that is talked about on Toshiba website? Is this really needed ... does it make any difference if I dont download it?
    [email protected]

    Hi
On the Toshiba website you will find newer BIOS versions. Sometimes the BIOS update procedure can solve some strange issues which occur on the notebooks.
But the BIOS upgrade is a serious procedure. If you use the wrong BIOS or wrong procedure so its possible that you will damage the motherboard.
Well, in my opinion if you dont have any serious issues on your notebook you dont need to make any upgrades. Never change a wining team ;) you know.
There you will find the BIOS:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

And there you will find very useful and important informations about BIOS upgrading:

  • BIOS paranoia - Satellite P10

    hi friends,
Reading the problems people have after changing to updated BIOS I am asking is it worth it, or necessary some people seem paranoid about getting new ones but then get all sorts of problems. I have updated my P10-804 about [4years old] which was pre installed with WXP Home to WXP Pro SP2.
Do I need to update it? If I do, how do I know that the one that tosh have for me is the right one for my currant set up as it probably presumes I still have original home addition.
Thank you for any advice you may care to share,
    Colin,
PS: happy xmass to you all!

    Hi Colin
BIOS paranoia?? ?:| What to say the BIOS update is always risky!
The wrong BIOS or wrong BIOSO procedure can damage the motherboards ROM module.
You are right; many people here ask always for new BIOS updates because of different reasons. My notebook is about 4 years old and Ive never update the BIOS on it.
Why? Because the laptop runs correctly and I dont see any reasons why I should update the BIOS.
So I always follow this advice; never change running system!
Maybe its a good advice for you too
