Journal tempate in HFM

Is it possible to create a single Journal template in HFM that can be used by all entities (single entity journal only)? In the template creation, it seems entity needs to be provided in the header and it will be applicable only for that entity?

You could create a Multiple Entity template and then require the users to select the entity, even if it is only 1.

  • Error "424 Object Required" when opening journal report using HFM 11.1.2.1

    Hi experts,
    I've installed EPM 11.1.2.1 along with Hyperion Financial Management and Financial Reporting on an virtual machine (OS is windows server 2008),
    when I logon to workspace and tried to open an journal report in HFM-Format, appears error message as follows:
    An error has occurred. Please contact your administrator
    Error Number:424
    Error Description: Object required
    Error Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
    Page On which Error Occurred:../reports/CheckStatus.asp
    I've checked oracle support and found article ID 967025.1 describing almost the same issue of mine,
    but the suggested solution was to add workspace and HFM web server to trusted site. (I'm using IE9)
    I did so as well as other recommended browser settings but still the error remains.
    The article said the solution was applied to Version 9.2.0.0 to 11.1.1.3, so I'm not sure if version 11.1.2.1 has other causes or solutions.
    Could experts provide any ideas?

    I believe you might have already done with the below steps, but please reconfirm:
    1) Ensure, that both the Hyperion Workspace URL AND the HFM webservername i.e(Http://<hfmwebservername>/hfm) is added in the sites button in the Trusted sites option. under Security tab.
    2) Here is a list of Internet Explorer settings which are recommended to be set on the client machine:
    1. Configure browser to check for new version every time user visits a page
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > General
    In 'Browsing history' section select 'Every time I visit the webpage'
    * Click Ok, then Apply.
    2. Disable default pop-up blocking
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > Privacy tab
    Uncheck 'Turn on Pop-up Blocker'
    3. Add workspace URL to trusted sites
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > Security tab
    * Select Trusted sites from Select a zone to view or change security settings.
    * Type your workspace URL in form http://workspaceserver:portnumber in 'Add this website to the zone'
    * Uncheck 'Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone'
    * Click Add, then Close.
    * Click Ok and Apply.
    4. Minimize security setting for trusted sites
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > Security tab
    * Select Trusted Sites from select a zone to view or change security settings
    * Select custom level
    * From Reset to list select Low
    * Click Ok
    * Click Apply, then Ok
    5. Customize security settings
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > Security Tab > Custom Level
    * In 'Miscellaneous' section enable the option "Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints"
    * In 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins' section enable “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” and “Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting.”
    6. Enable option "Always allow session cookies".
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > Privacy Tab > Advanced > Check the "Override automatic cookie handling" and accept the first and third party cookies and check the "Always allow session cookies" option.
    7. Disable option "Enable Native XMLHTTP".
    * Open Internet Explorer
    * Go to Tools > Internet options > Advanced Tab > Uncheck the option "Enable Native XMLHTTP"
    If still facing the same issue, perform the below action plan:
    1) Give full permission to Filetransferfolder and try generating the reports.
    2) Add the Everyone user and dcom user to BIPubSystemReports.
    DCOM Config-> BIPubSystemReports-> Security tab-> add the users in Launch and Activation Permission, Access permissions and Configuration Permissions.
    Best regards.

  • Automatic  journal create  in HFM

    Hi,
    How to create journal using script function and set journal custom value?
    Thanks
    Edited by: D. Morozov on 14/5/2010 17:09

    You cannot create journals using rules, if this what you mean by script. What you can do however, is to calculate values into <Entity Curr Adjs> member of the Value dimension. The calculations may be based on values found in <Entity Currency> member. For those calculated values there will not be any journal entry which you can post, unpost or report.
    The procedure will look like this:
    If HS.Value.Member() = "<Entity Curr Adjs>" Then
    HS.Exp "A#acct3 = A#acct1.V#<Entity Currency> * A#acct2.V#<Entity Currency>"
    HS.Exp "A#acct4 = (-1) * A#acct1.V#<Entity Currency> * A#acct2.V#<Entity Currency>"End IfYou should be careful to do the calculations in pairs as above, so that you emulate balanced journal adjustments and preserve balance.

    Hi there,
    I believe that the issue is with the security privileges on the  folder that the report is created. The folder can be something similar to: D:\Oracle\Middleware\User_Projects\EPMSystem1\products\FinancialManagement\Web
    If you search MySupport, you will find an article with the name of the windows folder that you should grant access to the user Everyone.

  • Approve/Post Journal works in 32-bit, but not the web Client?

    We have HFM 4.01 sp2 and sometimes when a user tries to approve/post a journal in the HFM Web Client they receive a security error (even though they have the post role and ALL access to the Entity), then they login to the 32-bit client and they can approve/post the same journal? Why?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    The user in question has all the security he needs. . . post journal role, ALL access to the scenario, entity, etc. or it wouldn't work in the 32-bit (windows) client either. I want to know why he received an error in the Web Client, but NOT the windows client?

    Hi All,
    I narrowed it down by running a report excluding working journals and that worked fine.
    This was being caused by an invalid working Journal. I exported all journals from Prod, and tried loading them to test. One of the errors was
    "Line: 7736, Error: Invalid parent.child entity dimension specified"
    Looking at the row the journal did not have an entity specified for one of the lines.
    When a valid entity was specified the journal report then starts working.
    Lesson. Check all journals are valid. To find error, load journals export in a different environment.
    Thanks all for your help.
    Regards
    Vivek

  • Copy a journal template ?

    is there a way to copy a journal template in HFM 9.3.1 ?

    Hi,
    If you want to move a journal template you have created for a specific scenario/year/period combination to another combination, you can go to the "Extract journals" menu then tick "Extract templates" and generate a jlf file. Once the jlf file is generated, you only need to change scenario, year and period at the beginning of the jlf file and reload it through the "Load journals" menu.
    Hope this is clear and helpful.
    Lionel.

  • HFM Security Issue - User can submit a journal by by-passing the approval step even though they are not an admin.

    Hi All,
    I was wondering if anyone could help me with a HFM security issue on HFM 11.1.2.3 we are facing please?
    The problem is that a user can by-pass the journal approval stage and post directly after submitting if Custom4 access control=All is selected.
    If any of the other access controls (None, Read, Promote) for custom 4 are selected, the first two steps of the process are possible -
    input and approval of the journal are possible but final posting of the journal is not and returns an error that says:
    "User does not have the access right to perform this journal task"
    The options I have thought for a workaround are as follows:
    1.       1. Set up a 3rd user called data poster and remove submit journal role from user 1 (data inputter)
    2.       2. Put in place process control and use the various review levels (could be quite time consuming given there is no time left for development)
    Have anyone experienced this before and come up with a quick way of resolving this please? It would be very much appreciated.
    We have two types of users who are associated with groups in HFM and have the appropriate roles assigned to them to complete their tasks,
    they are:
    1. A data Inputter (who inputs base data and journals, who has access to create and submit journals)
    2.   2. A data reviewer (who approves journals)
    The process is as follows:

    2.       2. Logon as Data reviewer to approve the journals
    3.       3. Logon as Data inputter to post the Journals
    We are using the custom 4 member to identify different adjustment types. At the moment we are able to set it up in such a way whereby Steps 1 and 2 can be completed
    but once it comes back to step 3, we get an error as follows:

  • HFM App does not open after saving journals in managed server

    Hi All
    I have a HFM application on 11.1.2.3.500 version . We have ONLY native users and groups, when a user logs into HFM application we can open the app intermittently. If we follow below sequence
    1. Open the application
    2. Go to Manage Journals
    3. Add journals
    4. Modify members
    5. Save it
    Now it all happens fine here. After this I log out and then login , all I can see is Application loading screen. It stays like this forever.

    We have applied 11.1.2.3.502 patch in the month of Dec.
    I am suspecting it is something to do with cache but not sure which cache parameter should I look at DB , HFM ?

  • Unposting journals in HFM

    Hi all,
    Im working with HFM 9.3 and I have a problem with the journals. Im posting journals set with *Value:[Contribution Adj]* in a child entity and I execute Calculate contribution in the parent entity to see the effect on the parent.As a test, I unposted them and I execute the Calculate contribution again, but this time I don't see the result of unposting the journals. The data still remains...
    I have done exactly the same process ( using the same journals) for next year and everything is fine... What could it be?
    Thanks.

    But the problem is, once I unpost the journal and I execute Calculate contribution again, the data remains in the cell so it does not unpost the journal. And when I do exactlly the same operation for the next year( posting and unposting journals) it works correctly! So I don't know t if it has something to do with the configuration of metadata or what...

  • Journal Security role in  HFM

    <Font color="Blue">
    Hi, All
    There is a scenario, I want to restrict the user to post the journal but he can not unpost the journal in HFM?
    How would I achieve this? Post and unpost roles are not segregated in HFM. (Means Post journal role includes the unpost journal role also) How to achieve this?
    Regards

    This type of access is not for loading metadata(what you refer to as write access) it is basically a filter used during the display of the Metadata using any of the interfaces.
    In your example US Security Class for the people in US region.
    A user will be able to see all of the Entities tagged with the US Security Class, so if you have a "Global Region" that includes say "Europe" the user won't be able to see this structure when they are navigating in the Entity Dimension. If you also tagged some accounts for the exclusive use of US entities (with US Security Class) then, the Europeans won't have access to those accounts when they navigate the Account Dimension.
    Hope this will help you clarify the use of the Security Classes.
    Also, for this filter to take effect, you must enable METADATA SECURITY FILTERING in the Application Settings.

  • HFM Journal Report in PDF

    Hi all
    I am using HFM 11.1.1.3 SQL 2005 Windows server 2003 SP2
    I am trying to generate a system default journal report in pdf format, however the system returns "access denied" error message. The same message also appear for generating XLS format.
    The journal report can be successfully generated in hfm format and html format.
    Anyone has idea? please help.
    I have already grant the full control to everyone and anonymous to the hyperion home folder.
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
    I believe that the issue is with the security privileges on the  folder that the report is created. The folder can be something similar to: D:\Oracle\Middleware\User_Projects\EPMSystem1\products\FinancialManagement\Web
    If you search MySupport, you will find an article with the name of the windows folder that you should grant access to the user Everyone.
    Regards,
    Thanos

  • Journal Security for unpost the journal in HFM

    Hi All
    I want to have a security that a user should post a journal and he should not un post the journal? How to achieve this?
    Because post and unpost is not segregated in HFM Journal.
    regards
    Sarilla

    if the user submits the entity (or phase) in the process control and has no Review Supervisor role then he would not be able to unpost the journal unless the Review Supervisor rejects back the submission in the process control
