Jpeg attachments looking stretched out in mail

As of yesterday, when I attach a jpeg of some artwork, the artwork's dimensions look stretched out and out of proportion. Never had the problem before, but I can't seem to fix it. I've thrown out preferences, repaired permissions and zapped PRAM. Started happening after Quicktime update. Any ideas?

I have the answer to my own question. Pixel Aspect Ratio. I always use D1 for my video work and apparently Mail only likes Square pixels. I did more experimenting after asking the question. I guess I never used D1 ratio until I upgraded my Photoshop from 6.0. Hmmmmm.

  • PAL video looks stretched out in HD project?

I imported some PAL video, which is 720 x 576 pixels.
    I am putting this onto a project set to 1920 x 1080.
When I put it on the timeline, it becomes stretched out, so the faces look weirdly disproportioned.
This seems to happen whether or not I check 'match sequence settings' when I drop it into the timeline.
Is there an effect or filter I can apply to this video to make the video not look stretched? I don't care if it has to be letterboxed or black-barred on the side.
    Thanks,

  • Display is stretched out

I had my computer plugged into a projector earlier and when I've done this before the screen stretches out while plugged into the projector. However it won't go back to it's normal size now after being unplugged and I tried turning it off. Please help!

Go back to System Preferences/Displays and make sure that you're using 1280 x 800 resolution. Next, explain what looks stretched out. Is it your desktop picture, your open ap window, ?
If it's your open ap window, just resize it by grabbing the lower right corner and dragging it to size. If you can't get to the corner, drag the top of the window to the left until you can.

Apple Mail isn't going to change the format of any of your attachments. it isn't going to corrupt them either.
Exchange is a transport protocol and server. The issue you describe is not related to Exchange.
There are many different versions of Microsoft Outlook in use and they all have e-mail bugs. Different versions have different bugs. Some Apple Mail hack to get around a bug in Outlook 2003 may cause the same message to be problematic in Outlook 2000. Fix them both and another issue will cause trouble in Outlook 2007. You can't fix this. Apple can't fix this. Microsoft can and has but that is irrelevant if your recipients are using older versions.
One specific problem is that Apple Mail always sends image attachments inline, as images, not as iconized files. You can change this with Attachment Tamer. Just be aware that use of this software will break other things such as Stationery. E-mail is just a disaster. To date, no one outside of Apple has ever implemented the e-mail standards from 1993. Apple has continually changed its e-mail software to be more compatible with the de-facto standards that Netscape and Microsoft have unilaterally defined and people documented as "standards" after the fact. The e-mail messages that Apple Mail sends are 100% correct and do not violate any of the original standards from 1993 or the Microsoft/Netscape modifications. The problem is entirely bugs and limitations in various versions of Outlook.

  • Mail option "Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" is grayed-out

    I use Mail 4.2 under OS 10.6.2.
The option "Send Windows-Friendrly Attachments" is grayed-out.
Is there a reason for that?
Could that mean that it in non functional?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks!
I understand what you mean and that was the explanation that I gave myself, but without really knowing if I was right. Your explanation seems logical.
I was raising this point, because I have a problem sending attached ".jpg" photos to a friend in Europe (France) who uses Outlook under Windows Vista. He keeps telling me that I am at the origin of the problem, this problem being that he receives the attachment within the core of the text and that the file is in ".bmp" rather than ".jpg"!
Otherwise, I am not having the problem with others Windows users, who also use Outlook (under XP, Vista, or 7). They all receive the ".jpg" file as such and can open it by clicking twice on it, and also save it as such.
But I'm trying to see if I do something wrong before I try to convince this friend that the problem may be on his side. In which case, I also would like to help him in finding out what the problem is (but I'm not expert of the "dark side").

  • My RAW files look washed out jpegs are OK

My RAW files look washed out, in camera I introduced warm colours by setting it on cloudy and set to vivid. They look great in other programs, how do I retain the original colors?

Buddy, the issue is that Photoshop Camera Raw / Bridge don't use the parameters you set in-camera at all.  It may seem odd that it doesn't, but that's the way it works.
The idea is that these software tools give you full control over literally hundreds of factors that go into your raw conversions, and trying to emulate the presets on the camera just doesn't make sense.
You need to save new Camera Raw Defaults to deliver color you like in new exposures you haven't opened before.  Check especially the Camera Profile setting in the Camera Calibration tab in Camera Raw.  Adobe does provide some options that will get you close to what the camera does, then you can tweak the settings further.
For what it's worth, it's not wrong to want the color to match, especially if you like the color the camera delivers.  I've created Camera Raw Defaults for my own cameras that provide a very good match between the in-camera color and what a new exposure looks like when first opened in Camera Raw...  I don't always leave it that way, though.

  • How can I find out the mail server from email address?

    Hi:
How can I find out the mail server from email address?
for example: If I know the email address is [email protected],
how to find the pop3 and smtp mail server?
    THANK YOU

You can't tell by the email address since you can pretty much put whatever you want in there (especially if the SMTP server is not filtering anything).
The header may be able to tell you something. There is a Received header value which looks like it has the routing information although I am not sure if this is a complete trace or just the last hop the message took.

  • Cannot drag MP3 attachment out of mail.

    Hey All,
Since somewhere in Mavericks, now in Yosemite, I lost the ability to drag an MP3 attachment out of mail. I remember the time I was able to do so. Don't know where or what or why that changed. I can drag it in though, but not out. With things like jpeg, or pdf, I have no problems. I checked all prevs, of Mail app, and Finder.
    What Am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Barracuda

i do want to leave 'automatic sync' enabled because, well, i want my phone to automatically sync when i plug it in. i also want drag-drop to work once it's done that, but that's why i posted...
the 2nd drag-drop: "the same drag-drop that worked not two minutes ago" refers to "[[dragging]] .MP3 files from elsewhere on my computer to my iTunes music library". Nothing to do with the phone. In fact the problem still occurs if I disconnect the phone after iTunes has launched.
i'd be interested to hear if anyone else sees this behavior:
    1) iTunes launched by Explorer => drag-drop enabled
    2) iTunes launched by iTunesHelper (plug in iPhone) => drag-drop disabled
where 'launched' means actually launched, and not just restored from the system tray.

  • Jpeg attachments appearing as a .dat file and not .jpeg files

Please can someone tell me how I can change jpeg attachments that are coming through on emails on my new iPhone 5 as a .dat file and not as a .jpeg file.
These .dat files cannot be opened - I assume that this will happen with PDF files as well.
    Thanks

I am surprised at this point in time no one has chimed in, seeing how many people have tried this in the pasta. I actually solved the whole clusters issue, but now I have discovered another problem that is making me throw in the towell on this one as I just can't explain it.
I am finding for some silly reason while the code will work in one VI it won't seem to work in another. See my photos below. The one where the code works, I have created the whole thing as a subroutine inside of a greater VI which I can not publish due to proprietary code. Next I tried pulling out the functioning part of the code and putting that in a stand alone file. See the photo where the code doesn't work. I have also ran the same code that doesn't work with both 1 and 2 variables. Each time Matlab can't open it. I am using the same to MAT subvi in each of these. For some reason though when I run the code in the working picture it runs, and I get a nice little mat file that I can open in Matlab. When I run the same exact code as a standalone I get the matlab error code every time.
I have tried reviewing every possible variable I can think of and worked with them. In all cases the two new VI's I made the code doesn't want to give me a valid mat file. However in the greater program it does! I am really stumped at this point. So unless I can find a better convert to matlab file code I don't think this will work.

  • 2010 Mac Mini OS 10.10.1 screen is stretched out

    Hi,
I have a 2010 Mac Mini that I use at work and I also use a second monitor via an adapter through USB. The setup worked until I installed Yosemite (10.10.1) on Friday.
When I go to Settings / Displays I don't get all the resolution options I had before (for my main monitor, 20", res. 1680 x 1050) and my secondary monitor isn't recognized at all (as if it wasn't even connected).
This is my main monitor: http://www.pcworld.com/product/1417007/lg-l203wt-widescreen-lcd-monitor.html
I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't work. I'm a designer and I can't work with my screen stretched out.
Can anyone let me know if there is a way to fix this???
    Thanks in advance!

Look for update software for the USB video adopter.
The 2010 mini has an HDMI video adopter and came with a HDMI to DVI adopter, It also has a mini displayport video output. You can get an adopter to connect HDMI, DVI and VGA,
Mini DisplayPort with support for up to 2560-by-1600 resolution
HDMI port with support for up to 1920-by-1200 resolution
DVI output using HDMI to DVI Adapter (included)
VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
Support for extended desktop and video mirroring across both ports

  • How can I get Lightroom to export my edit to a jpeg that looks the same ?

    Hi everyone,
I can't get my jpeg export to look the same as it looks in lightroom after edit.
The jpeg isn't that different but still, way too much for me.
I did use sRVB, 100% no scaling etc... but it seems the export won't take "all" of my noise reduction correction..
This is a portrait shot in lowww light, and the raw file was rather crappy. Eventhough I was really happy with my smooth final edit but I can't get my jpeg to look as clean.. please someone help meee !
    Regards,

What infos can I give you all to help me sort this problem out ?
    export : quality 100%
                 sRVB
                 no scaling
In lightroom my image is just clean whereas after export, I can notice some artifacts or "moire", and it feels like the noise reduction/sharpen tool doesnt apply its correction as it should.. but it still does a bit bc it's not as if I turned it off completly...
    This is driving me crazy
I'm about to install RC3 and try with it...

  • I have been successfully sending out e-mails to all people listed in a Group Address but yesterday only some of the people received their mail. Today I split the list, 25 in each Group Address, again, the same people did not receive their e-mail. Why?

I have been successfully sending out e-mails each month to about 50 people whose addresses are listed under a Group Name. Yesterday about half of the e-mails were received, the other half weren't. So I tried splitting the group into 2 separate Groups, again the list who didn't receive the first mailing again did not receive the second mailing. There does not seem to be anything that connects the recipients or non-recipients. They have a mix of providers, it was not just the first half of list that was affected, it appears to be totally random.  Any suggestions?

Neither of these error message look like they're from Exchange.

I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.
Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1)
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue to long.
Are those from NDRs someone in your organization received, or are they from NDRs received by a sender outside your organization?
Is 68.232.130.28 your IP address? The IP address resolves to the name esa2.firstam.iphmx.com. Is that a MX for the recipient's domain?

  • Internationalization of Clock In Out Event Mails

    Hello,
we already have Clock In Out in Germany and we plan to roll it out to Britain. The Job which is sending out the mails to the manager that his employees made corrections "RPTCOREMAIL" is already planned in. I translated the email text via SE63 but its always sending out the german one. Do I have to set a parameter or something?
Can somebody explain to me how this is supposed to work that everybody gets the correct language?
    Best ragards,
    Kai Mattern

Unfotrtunately the program Rptcoremail supports a single language only
The language is determined from here
Form 'get_email_text' in program 'RPTARQEMAIL' calls function
module 'DOCU_GET_FOR_F1HELP' with field 'sy-langu' in parameter 'langu'.
We are discussing this internally to enhance this report, as it looks incorrect for german getting french mails
    as you are a;lready aware
In this IMG activity, you create predefined notification texts, which
you can use to inform those involved in the process of leave requests
about any need to take action. To send the notifications, you use the
RPTARQEMAIL report (Leave Requests: Send E-Mails).
    Standard settings
The standard system contains the following notification texts:
For the person who submitted the request: HR_TIM_ARQ_REQUESTOR
For the person who approved the request: HR_TIM_ARQ_APPROVER
For the HR administrator (in case of errors): HR_TIM_ARQ_ADMIN
The texts used must be of the Dialog Text document class.
    Activities
If you want to create your own standard texts, proceed as follows:
    1. Access the SE61 transaction (Maintain Documents). (In the SAP menu,
choose Tools -> ABAP Workbench -> Utilities -> Documentation.)
    2. Choose the document class Dialog Text.
    3. Create your own texts or copy the standard texts.

  • I think the last update did not work, and now I cannot open jpeg attachments with windows picture and fax viewer, it is not listed in the tools/options drop dow

I don't believe the last Thunderbird update worked, there was a very fast error message. But since then I cannot open jpeg attachments in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If I go to Tools, then options, the jpeg line is grayed out, and the drop down menu does not show Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. The windows picture and fax viewer still works on my computer, but not for opening attachments.

I did as you said - deleted the entry for jpeg, but when I tried to open one there is not an option for Picture and Fax Viewer in the drop down, and it can't be found by browsing. It's just not there anywhere even though I can see pics in it except in email attachments.

  • Images with "Portrait" orientation are stretched out

I've taken photos with "portrait" (vs landscape) orientation with my camera then imported them in iPhoto. Then, I've rotated them in iPhoto so that they display with the correct orientation (i.e vertically), and everything so far looks OK.
However, when I try to build up a slideshow with iDVD, those portrait oriented photos are stretched out sideways in order to fill out the displaying frame (I would have expected them to show as in iPhoto with a black band on each side) .
I've read in the iDVD Help that this may happen whenever landscape AND portrait pictures are mixed together in the same slideshow. So, I carefully isolated each set of photos but with no success.
From what I've read in the iDVD forum, it seems that this is a recurrent problem no matter which iDVD or iPhoto version is used (I use iDVD 3 and iPhoto 2).
    Thank for any help.
    1.8 Ghz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Well, I tried to use iDVD without reading the tutorial and I confused the drop zone and the slideshow.
Actually, when you drop more than one photo into the drop zone, the width over the height ratio is determined by the first picture. Whenever the first photo is landscape oriented, any subsequent portrait photo appears stretched out. Conversely, if the first photo is portrait oriented, then the following landscape photos will be squeezed.
In any case, the slideshow itself is always displayed correctly.
