Jpeg, can open some, not others

Since upgrading to the CS3 version of camera raw, I noticed that I can open some jpeg files and not others with camera raw. I have checked the box in the preference dialog for using camera for jpeg and tiff's and that does not seem to make a difference. Any thoughts on this?

Here's the deal. If you ever open a Numbers file with Version 3, the file is converted to Version 3 and can't be opened again by Version 2. Version 2 and Version 3 are undoubtedly both on your machine and they look so similar that you may not realize which you are using. So, there are two steps to getting into trouble.
1. Open a Numbers 2 file with Numbers 3, edit it and Close it.
2. Try to open that file with Version 2. You ill get the error.
To always get it right, find the file you want to open in Finder, Right-Click it and choose Open With... and pick Version 3 from the drop down list.
If you have a file that you prefer to use only in Version 2, always use Open with... Numbers 2.3.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 110 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

You can add the icon of the missing Pages on your Dock or open Pages from the Apple menu > Recent Items list.
Or you can archive Pages 5 so that it doesn't automatically open.
If you are unhappy about this mess that Apple has created, review/rate Pages 5 in the App Store.

Well, that was the short answer, then I rethought your question.
Will the “other computers,” be Mac, or a mixture of Mac, Windows PC, and possibly Linux?
What application on the other computers will be accessing the Pages content created on your MacBook Pro?
Using the File export options I originally mentioned, you could save the files to iCloud. Then on the other computer, you use the web browser to sign into your iCloud account. When you click the iWork icon, the files that you saved from your MBP will be there. You can then right-click on the file you want and a download option exists.

Can not open my yahoo mail. Can't find on server but can open in all other browsers

Yahoo mail will not open in Firefox new 4.0 or older versions.
However, I can open in Safari and IE7.
Have talked to several folks that are having the same problem and most are just switching to other browsers and the problem goes away. I would prefer to solve the problem rather than just giving up and switching permanently to another browser. Different computers and I have the same problem. Copying the mail address from IE7 to firefox and it still can not find the mail account. Does find other web addresses just fine. It is something to do with yahoo mail.

its free and it can help with any problem you are
getting with yahoo mail
or at least till apple looks into your problem

Some podcast episodes I can drag & drop, not others

New current gen iPod Touch, 16gb. Just downloaded iTunes 8.2 (which may have been my first mistake, in hindsight...always wait for that .1) on an HP Vista laptop (which I know is my second problem...can't be helped).
When I started using it (just got it a few days ago), I let the automatic sync update my podcasts. But I couldn't find a setting I liked just right to keep the ones I wanted on and not others, so I decided to turn off the auto-sync and just drag & drop.
But when I started dragging my podcasts over, I noticed some would come over, and others wouldn't. All of my podcasts are subscribed in iTunes, and it's even such that I can get certain episodes of a particular podcast, but not others. Tried restarting iTunes and iPod both. I've got plenty of space left, and even tried deleting some casts, but the ones that wouldn't sync before still wouldn't.
Also have tried downloading the missing episodes via the iTunes store app on the Touch, but the same casts, when downloaded, still don't show up it seems.
Any ideas? This seems to be a very random problem.

I think you will find that podcasts are handled pretty well by iTunes if you let it do it's job. Dragging and dropping podcasts seems like too much work - especially when you get the problems you are seeing.
BTW, the setting that works best for me is the simplest - Sync all unplayed podcasts. I refresh my podcasts at least once per day, and when I sync, listened to ones are removed, new ones are added. Seems pretty simple. If you have used an older iPod, partially listened to podcasts were removed as well. This is not true with the touch. Podcasts remain on the touch until you have finished with them.

Links in .pdf work for some, not others

I've tried a search on the forums to see if my question might already have been answered, but I didn't find anything, and was hoping someone here might have an idea for me:
I have two users, each using Adobe Pro 9.1.1 and IE 7.0.5730.13. They are sent an email that links to a web page that contains links to various pdf documents. One user can open all the links just fine. The other can open about half the links, the other half come up with an error that says the document does not exists. It appears to be looking in the temporary internet folder as opposed to going out and getting the document. When I try to copy and past the link to the document in the browser, I get the same error.
I went into the options for Adobe Pro and told it to open the document in a web page, but it insists on opening up Adobe Pro and trying to display it from there.
Again, two users have the same versions of Adobe and IE and yet have different results.
Anyone have a suggestion as to what the problem could be?

It does not work; if I right-click and select save-as, it is looking in the temp directory for the document, and if you hover over the link, it is trying to send you straight to the temp directory for the document. Very strange, as looking at the same website on the other person's PC, the link goes out to the correct directory.
A little clarification; these .pdf files exist on a shared network drive. Users are sent to a web page that has links to the documents on this shared drive.
This particular user has the same permissions to that shared drive as the other person does, and all the .pdfs linked in the webpage exist in the same directory on that shared drive.

Can't open some (not all) photos in Develop

I'm running Lightroom 1.1 on my Powerbook G4 (1.67ghz, 2 gigs of ram).
Recently had a data base corruption problem, reverted to my backup, everything seemed fixed and working fine. However, it turns out that some files (not all) can no longer be opened in the Develop module: when I'm trying to open one of these files in develop, the preview shows but the panels remain disabled. This happens to both JPEG files from a Canon EOS 350D and to DNG files from a Leica M8. If I select another affected file in the filmstrip while this is happening, the image in the navigator changes to the preview of the newly selected file, but the image in the main viewer remains that of the first affected file selected. If I select a unaffected file from the film strip, the develop module loads properly.
I've checked the catalog's integrity, and even optimized it, but nothing helped.
The affected files are present on disk and open in Photoshop just fine, so they're not corrupted.
Any ideas on what's going on?

I am having the same Problem but I have many folders in Lightroom....many are in Red type and they say File Cannot Be Opened. I went to import and imported one from external drive to the same external drive folder and it came in fine and the images now open fine in the Develop module...will I have to do that to all my folders ....Whew!!!! Why is it that I can open some websites and others won't open at all. It says below that the information is transferring from another site, but it never opens. Very frustrating.

I open an e-mail, click on a link, and sometimes it will open, other times it won't. If the website is given in the e-mail, I can copy and paste the site into Firefox, and it will usually open, but I want to know why a valid link won't open. Other times, I will enter an address in Firefox and I get "done" at the bottom, but I'm looking at a blank page. I'm not a technician, just an operator, so it may be a setting somewhere in the millions of settings that are default or that I have changed, but I have no clue what is causing this. Another problem that only occurs with Firefox is that if I am filling out an online shopping cart, when I'm done, there is no button to click to finish the transaction. I have to open IE, go to the same site, make the same order, and the "submit" or "order" button is there. Why in IE and not in Firefox? Any help would be most appreciated.

OK lets engage the brain here. A car is warranted from the maker of the car through the dealer that sells it.
That warranty is clearly spelled out. 3 years parts and labor, 5 year power train, 10 rust through etc. It tells you how to obtain this warranty service.
Find the warranty service conditions on Verizon Wireless and READ them.
Now you go to Best Buy and buy a Television and hook it to cable vision or Fios and it breaks down and you want the company you get TV service from to fix it? Please get real.
If you bought the device from Walmart or Best Buy or any major retailer they give you 15 days to return a defective unit. Then after that time it spells out your options. One of them is not to bring it back to them. They don't repair devices.
Now Verizon Wireless is also a retailer, they give you 14 days to return it and after that they will assist in the warranty of the device through the manufacturer. Verizon does not make phones nor repair them.
There is no customer courtesy outside of issuing a refurbished device if not physically broken and you send the other one back to complete the warranty process if under a year. If you have supplemental insurance then you go through asurian. That is pertinent information.
Just because you don't like the reply does not make it correct.
The updates come through Google, then HTC (Or other device makers), then to Verizon to push out to the devices. Verizon has nothing to do with the code of the update, nor anything regarding the devices. They provide a service of which is cellular and data services. If the devices cannot work on their service Verizon Wireless is not to blame.

Have you tried emptying the cache? Or second, resetting Safari, which will take out all your cookies and other caches. If this doesnt work, perhaps use OnyX (free from the Apple download site under your Apple menu) to repair permissions, and deep clean caches (users and kernel) and repair permissions.
