Jpeg pixelated

I made a flash file and used a logo that i designed in
photoshop. Since I put the jpeg in the flash file it has become
pixelated when I preview it in a browser. does anyone know why this
is, or how I can fix it?

modify the bitmap properties for your picture in library,
right click on bitmap symbol & choose properties, enable "allow
smoothing".
change compression from "Photo" to "Lossless" might keep the
picture quality, but it will increase your published swf filesize a
lot.
if you want to keep the compression as "Photo", disable the
"Use imported jpeg data", & set the "Quality" higher, may be 80
to 100.

  • How do I enhance the quality of a reduced jpeg (pixels are showing)?

I have a logo jpeg I need to reduce to a size that displays properly on a business card, letterhead, etc. I think I did this with another one of my Companies 4 or 5 years ago, but have not used Photoshop CS2 since and cannot seem to find guidance in the Help.
The original jpeg is 1.764" x 4.403" (127 pixels x 317 pixels), 72 ppi. I need the size to be 0.300" x 0.750". The logo clearly shows pixels when I resize. I've tried increasing resolution as well as other atttributes.
What am I missing? What should/can I do?
    Thanks.

You can uncheck the Resample box and then change the size print size to the smaller value.  This will proportionally increase the PPI, but does not change the image because the pixel dimensons are the same as before.  It still won't be great, but will be far better than leaving rthe PPI value at 72 while reducing the image pixel dimensions.  Keep in mind that for printing (which is the only place where PPI really matters), the pixels per inch density should ideally be 300 or greater.  If using a print service, ask them what PPI printer resolution works best.  The printer's RIP (raster image processor) has to convert the RGB pixel data to CMYK separations at its native density.  If the image that you are working with is a photo, the final output sharpening should be done in Photoshop after setting the print size.  This is not applicable to scalable vector graphics.

  • Sudden FCE Crashes

I'm about twelve minutes into a 20 minute video. I'm working on a Macbook Pro with source files on an external G Force Firewire 800 drive. The video is mostly narration, simple stills, and text. Everything is going fine and then out of the blue as I'm dragging an element out of a bin from the browser in the monitor of my MacBook Pro to my second monitor and into the timeline - FCE crashes. This continues to occur even after a restart. I open the file and it appears to be OK.
The only work around I've found so far is to keep the browser and timeline in the monitor of the MacBook Pro - rather than dragging the element from one monitor to another. I had been dragging from one monitor to another for months on other projects and for days now on this project with no problem.
I looked through the crash report but couldn't make any sense of it.
Any suggestions what might be doing this and how to fix it?

+What exactly is the file you're dragging? Please give complete specs from item properties?+
Captured Video Files, for example: Duration:01:33:17; Tracks 1V,2A; Audio: 1 Stereo; Frame Size: 720 x 480; Vid Rate: 29.97 fps; Compressor: DV/DVCPRO-NT; Data Rate: 3.6 MB/Sec; Aud Rate 48.0 KHz; Aud Format: 16-bit integer; Pixel Aspect: NTSC-CCIR 601; Field Dominance; Lower (Even)
JPG files, for example: Frame Size: 3264 x 2448, Vid Rate: 29.97; Compressor: Photo-JPEG; Pixel Aspect: Square
+What format is the sequence?+ I'm not sure how to ***** this, however, all of the files in the sequence are the same type as those detailed above.
+Do you have any other apps running?+ No.
    +How much RAM do you have?+ 4GB
+How is the second monitor connected?+ Through the DVI port.

  • PLEASE HELP........import 720p to FCP HD, but it is small in the screen.

So i import 720p footage to fcp. The specs of the footage are 1280 x 720, 24 fps.
compressor - photo - jpeg, pixel aspect: square.
    I set up the project.
frame size 1280 vs 720, hdtv720p (16:9), Pixel aspect square
    Quicktime video settings : h.264.
When the footage is in the viewer it is does not fill up the screen(black box around it). When I export the video is small with the large box around it.
    What am I doing wrong?

  • All three 5DrS crop factors yield 60mb+ fies

It would seem reasonable that when one chooses to create a cropped image on the 5Drs,  the smaller scene should still fill up the viewfinder to produce a good view of the subject.   It would also be expected that a cropped image would result in a smaller file when downloaded.  500 60mb images will slow down processing and fill up camera cards and hard drives very quickly.  I want to save the FULL images for special subjects in ideal settings.  25mb to 35mb files would be OK.  Do I have to give up shooting in RAW? Also the crop factor should be displayed prominently in the viewfinder display and be easily changable.  I would like to be able to assign a button to rotate around the 3 crop menus with a push of the button while watching through the viewfinder.

Disks are cheap. I shoot RAW and I don't look at the disk space. I don't use internal storage in my computer... my images are kept on external drives.
A cropped file of the identical image and identical image storage format (including identical compression methods) will, of course, be smaller. But if you are comparing a Canon RAW image to a non-RAW image this could explain why a cropped image doesn't seem to be smaller.
A RAW file is really just data but isn't in a format that can be viewed until it is "de-Bayered". The color sensor has something called a Color Filter Array (CFA) -- the most common is the Bayer matrix. Imagine a checkerboard in which 50% of the squares are green, 25% are blue, and 25% are red. That's the Bayer matrix. Each "pixel" in the image is technically called a "photo-site" and only contains a single color channel. To "de-Bayer" the image, the value of any photo-site is compared to the value of the adjacent color photo-sites and these are combined to create an RGB color "pixel". This operation is performed for every photo-site on the array. This basically triples the image size (a non-lossy TIFF image will be considerably larger than the Canon RAW (.CR2) file from which it was made.
JPEG images, on the other hand, are lossy and tend to have very high compression. The JPEG algorithm allows for pixels to be "normalized" so that color hue or tonality which is extremely close, but not truely identical, to a neighboring pixel.... will just be normallized so that the two pixels get the identical color hue and tonality (this massively helps with image compression for storage purposes and the human eye can't tell the difference.) The downside to the JPEG algorithm is that this assumes you didn't need to adjust the image. If you DID need to perform image adjustments, the normalization of JPEG pixels means that you lost meaningful detail that you wont be able to recover. This is why JPEG is an excellent "final image" format, but a lousy image format for images that still need adjustments.
If you havea 5Ds or 5Dsr... then I highly suggest you pick up some external disks and don't worry about the file sizes. 1 TB of disk space is less than $50 and it will take a while to fill that even with a 50MP camera... especially if you go through and cull your images to dump the rejects from time to time.
Disk occupancy isn't the only penalty you pay for very large files. They also require a great deal more processing, so you're probably going to need a faster computer. And when you send your hi-res pictures by email (and a lot of people still do), you're more likely to run afoul of message size limits imposed by IT departments or service providers.

  • Pixellated jpeg

When I place a jpeg into Indesign, it can often become very pixellated. I have tried saving the jpeg as a pdf and it still comes in pixellated. The jpeg is very clear when I look at it in other applications.
I have tried changing the screen resolution and it is no better. Any suggestions please?

Why would saving it as a PDF make things better or worse? A pdf is just a wrapper for files that can contain vector, text, raster, video, interactive elements etc. It's just a container for things - it wouldn't improve the quality of a file just because it's converted to another format.
Images that are Placed into InDesign via File>Place or drag and drop from a folder are only LINKED to the document. It places a PROXY to simulate the layout. You can go to View>Display Performance>High Quality
BUT this might drastically make things run a bit slower - depending on how many images you have. As InDesign is not an image viewer nor is it an image editor.
You can view the QUALITY of the image in PPI (Pixels Per Inch) only - by going to Window Info and selecting the image.
The Info Panel will show you
    Actual PPI
    Effective PPI
The Actual PPI refers to the PPI of the image at 100% original size.
Effective PPI shows the PPI the image is as a result of scaling the image - hence this is the OUTPUT PPI of the image - and this is what you need to be concerned with.
If the PPI is too low then you will need to get a higher resolution image.
    WEB - 72 ppi
    Newspapers - 80-150 ppi
    Magazines - 225-300 ppi
    High Quality Art/Coffee table stuff - 300-400ppi
The amount of PPI is dependent on the output intent (what printer and what paper etc.)
Check with your print vendor for advice on PPI and what you can actually use.

  • Are JPEG 3504x2336 pixel pictures too high resolution for the photo books?

    Hi,
I am done creating my photo book and I am ready to order, but I'd like to know if my pictures are too high resolution. They are professional wedding pictures so they are 7.4 mb each JPEG 3504x2336 pixel pictures. (Last time, I printed through MyPublisher but the pages with multiple pictures didn't turn out well and they said it was because the resolution was too high so when they compressed the file for the pages with multiple pictures it didn't turn out well.) Will I run into the same problem if I print directly through Iphoto?
If I do need to lower the resolution, how do I do it, given that I've aready created the book?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
When you order the book it will be compressed and a PDF will be created. That PDF is what gets uploaded to Apple (via Kodak) for printing. So the best way to check your book before ordering is to create a PDF, then inspect it. Chances are, what you see in your PDF is what you will get printed.
To do this, select your book and do File > Print. You'll get an "Assembling book" progress bar. That can take several minutes. When done, you get the Print Dialog box. Click the PDF button and choose "Save as PDF..." Choose a name and location for the file (the Desktop is convenient) and Save. Then switch to the Finder and open that PDF in Preview. You might select a page or two and do a test print yourself, to see if the quality looks good. The PDF saves you from having to print out the whole book yourself to check for errors.
    Regards.

  • How to smooth and sharpen pixelated jpeg images?

I have a logo being produced for the web. The logo was done in illustrator. Every time i look at the jpg file its very pixelated and speckled. Is there anyway to reduce the appearance of that?

    Oh nooooo!
No stepping into the great "There is no such thing as resolution" debate!
       Aaaack!
This reply is adressing the distinction between RASTER and VECTOR files only.
If you have a VECTOR file, you do not have resolution because resolution is a function of RASTER files.
Raster files are ALWAYS rectangular and they are worked in Photoshop which does have resolution settings.
Vector files are lines and drawings that are described by code and are usually worked in Illustrator or some program that writes linework files. They can be any shape and can be any size without the filesize getting larger because they do not depend on resolution to render themselves.
The fact that the logo was originally an Illustrator file would indicate that it is a VECTOR GRAPHIC and as such it would be a mistake to bring it into Photoshop at all. (unless, as noted above, someone placed a RASTER file like psd, jpg, gif, or png into Illustrator and then exported a new jpeg? Why would anyone?)Times have changed, and apparently our original post has moved on.
I am irresolute and am melting.

  • Pixelation issue resizing jpeg Logo - Illustrator CS5

I'm working on a file where they've supplied me with their logo only in jpeg format. I'm trying to lower the size for the small artboard (to approx 15% of it's original size) but can't find any way to make it even the slightest bit smaller without noticable pixelation - let alone an 85% reduction. This will ultimately be print ad so I'm trying to keep resolution in mind.
I'd appreciate everyones expertise! (Illustrator fixes only please as I do not have photoshop)

I wasn't looking at it in overprint preview but did since your message and it makes no difference. It is for a small newspaper ad 2"x3.5" so I of course need the logo to been even smaller than that.
Here is the provided jpeg image:
    Here it is at 15%:
As for looking at it in 100%...(perhaps is my lack of advanced illustrator knowledge)....I've always found at 100% it is not true to scale - somewhere around 155/156% I find is true to scale when printed.

  • Changing pixel density metadata in JPEG

    Hello:
Does anybody know of a way/utility to batch mode change the pixel density metadata in JPEG files? I have this Phillips digital frame which won't display images properly when the JPEG DPI information is 72, regardless of the real pixel width and height of the images.
Editing it in Photoshop works, but it also rewrites the data of the image, recompressing the JPEG a second time, cumulating artifacts.
    Thank you for your suggestions,
    Yann

All other applications do what they're supposed to with Windows font settings, so I'm not going to set it to 100% and mess them up because Firefox is weird.

  • Lightroom 5 book module trims pixels on JPEG and PDF export

I'm making a 12x12" book and want to export at 250dpi.  I'm expecting my pages to be square and exactly 3000x3000 pixles.  When I export to JPEG or PDF the pages are not square and JPEGs are 2968 x 3000.
I've seen the same question asked regarding LR4.  It appears to not have been fixed or addressed in LR5.
I'm not using Blurb to create books which I understand is the publisher that requires these odd sized pages and why LR exports pages this way.  Oddly, there is a special export for Blurb books; I wouldn't think that the generic JPEG and PDF exports should follow the Blurb standard.  Idealy, I want my JPEG exports to be two-page spreads at 6000 x 3000 pixels.  I can stitch together two pages in Photoshop easily enough, but not if the pages are not the correct size to begin with.
For now, I'll use LR5 to mock up a book and then re-create the whole thing manually in PS, which is really sad and such a waste of time given that LR is so close to being able to export exactly what I want.
Would love to see this fixed in an update soon.

These are both bugs that have been fixed since the LR4 beta. Thanks for bringing them up, though.

  • Reading color pixels from a jpeg

    Please help me
I would like to write a java program that imports a jpeg file and reads colors off the pixels from it (given the x, y)
i know java, however, i am still a novice. can you stir me unto a direction, wher i can do this? awt? swing? fileio?
if you have an idea of an algorithm ^_^ that would be even better!
    thank you!

    Image myJPG;
    BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(myJPG.getWidth(null),myJPG.getHeight(null),BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics g = bi.getGraphics();
    g.drawImage(myJPG,0,0,null);
    int rgb = bi.getRGB(pixelX,pixelY);
//if you want, now you can do
    Color color = new Color(rgb);

    Freu mich über jeden Tipp!

Da gibt's nix einzustellen. Dein Dokument hat ja schon eine Größe und eine DPI-Zahl aus der sich die Pixeldimensioenn bombenfest ergeben. Alles weitere muss im Photoshop gemacht werden.

  • How to configure an image to specific parameters.  Needed: no more than 1200 pixels on long side   jpeg format   no less than 5 mb.  Image will be viewed on large standup screen.(original image is 22 mb)

I often have requests for images to be sent within certain parameters:  such as "no longer than 1200 pixels on longest side + jpeg format + file size no less than 5 mb."  Images will be viewed on a large stand up screen.  My original image sizes are usually around 22 mb.  When I use Export and specify 1200 pixels (quality setting is all the way over to 12), Save the file to a folder on the desktop, and then open the image in Preview, Inspector shows that the file size is now 233 KB.  How do I meet all specifications without reducing the image size so drastically?
    Thank you.

. Pardon, it reduced it down to 833 KB, not 233 (I mixed it up with another image) from the Original image of 22 MB, RAW.  Should it reduce it down that much??
That will depend on the amount of of detail in your jpeg. Given a certain pixels size and level of quality, a jpeg with many details will require a larger filesize than a jpeg with large plain regions of constant color.
Is 833 KB a big enough file size to view on a big screen?
The file size is really unimportant for the quality. What will count is the pixel size and jpeg quality you set. What is the pixel size of the large screen? That should match the pixel size you are using in your export preset. 1200 longest dimension is extremely unlikely for a large screen. Even the 17" display of my MacBook Pro has a larger pixelsize of 1920x1200.
I am sharing William Lloyd's doubts, that the specifications you were given are correct.  I'd try to export with a larger pixelsize and a high jpeg quality - perhaps 10.
If you export with 10 Megapixel  and a good jpeg quality, you will probably get a 5MB file, not that the size should matter.

  • Jpeg pictures Pixelated

I just finished a piece where I incorporated video footage and stills from a photographer. I exported the project out using DV/DVCPRO and for some reason the pictures became blurry and pixelated when I put the project on a DVD. All the pictures are clear when it is viewed on the internet.
To make matters more confusion I put together another slide show in FCP just using JPEG Files (in fact some of the JPEG were used in both videos) and all the stills came out perfect. The second video I exported the project out in the same manner DV/DVCPRO.
    Why did this happen?
What can I do to solve this problem in FCP?

Check the attachment size pop-up in the lower right-hand corner of the message window before sending. Set it to "Actual Size".
