JPEG Signature Block becomes too large as Mail Signature

I'd like to create a signature block to include in Apple Mail.  I have created an appropriately sized one in an image program, but when I drag and drop that jpeg into Apple Mail, it becomes larger, too large for my purposes and too large for the people receiving it.  Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Matt

Not sure what OS you're on, but...
Might see if this helps...

    Use smaller photos.
Seriously, reduce the file size of the photos in Preview, PhotoShop, iPhoto or other application before inserting tehem into the Numbers document.

  • When trying to edit or download a pdf document, it becomes too large or on screen or normal size with many lines of text blacked out. How do I get it to do the normal presentation of the document

For years my pdf docs downloaded for viewing or editing as normally sized documents.
Now when I pull up a pdf from file, it becomes too large or becomes normal page size but many of the lines of text are blacked out. How do I correct it to go back to the previous default page size?

    Hi wh4936,
Are you opening those files in Acrobat or Reader? You can set the default page size in the Page Display preferences. Choose Acrobat/Reader > Preferences in Mac OS, or Edit > Preferences in Windows to access the preference settings. Do the black lines only appear when the PDF is zoomed in? Or are they there regardless of the page magnification?

  • How do I open a project in CS6 when it's apparently become too large (1.68 GB) to load?

I have a project that was recently sent back to me by someone who was working on the audio. When it was sent to me it was around 217 MB. After working on the project for a few more days before sending it out for color correction and additional audio work, I'm all of a sudden unable to load the project. My guess is that it has become too large to open, because now it is 1.68 GB. I don't know how that happened. I haven't applied any additional effects or brought in more media. All I've done is make trims to the picture and merged 3 sequences. I'm trying to figure out how I can open the project and, if I do need to make it smaller in order to continue working on it, is there a way to do so without losing the work that I've recently done? Thanks!

I'm trying to "import select sequences" from that project into a new project but it won't load. The loading bar is stopping about a quarter of the way through, same as it did when I recently tried to load the project normally. The loading bar has been sitting there at a quarter full for about 20 minutes now. A friend of mine tried to load the project (I sent him a zip file through Dropbox.) onto his computer yesterday and couldn't get it to open either.

Make sure your entries are correct.
    Check the following:

  • SYSTEM01.DBF is becoming too large

    Hi,
I am running Oracle Enterprise edition on Win2K. the SYSTEM01.DBF is became too large (2.8 GB). Is there any way to clean up the unwanted data from the Sys user tables?
    Thanx in Adv
    DP

do selects on dba_tables, and dba_indexes to ensure that no other users are creating objects in the system tablespace. Also ensure that none of your users have system as their default tablespace or worse their temporary tablespace. If you are using Oracle auditing, move the auditing objects to their own tablespace.

The workflow I was suggesting doesn't need you to specify pixel dimensions: you specify the print size, in inches or whatever measurement is required (but usually it is inches for prints), along with the appropriate ppi and LR will do the math for you and re-size the image so that the pixel dimensions fit those criteria. Doing that, even for reasonably large prints, should see the JPEG file sizes drop quite a bit I would imagine; I use a 16MP D7000, and when I use PhotoBox I often print at 12"x8" (300dpi), which usually means that LR has to do a fair bit of downsizing (maybe -25%) in order to fit that output size; even with a very detailed image (e.g. a landscape with a lot of fine detail such as tree branches, leaves, etc), I rarely go over 15MB with the JPEG (very different story for a TIFF of course!).
What camera are you using here? I'm intrigued.
I think it's rather unfortuate that you have no idea what sizes your photos will be printed at, and if I were you, I'd try to get that sorted out before uploading anything to PhotoBox. Speak with the couple, show them the pictures you have, and get them to select the sizes they want them to be printed at - maybe a default size for the majority might suffice, and then they can pick out the favourites for larger sizes/canvas prints, etc. Make a note of all the sizes PhotoBox offer and show them your list whilst they look through the photos on-screen. IMHO, if you're unsure of the final print size then you're going to be making compromises by going for a "generic" size and then relying on the PhotoBox staff to up/downsample the images on the fly, and you'll definetely be compromising the output sharpening that LR has to offer. I'd personally much rather send them a finished file that's ready to go, without the need for them to start messing around re-sizing it. But if you really can't establish an intended print size before uploading, then I think DJ_paige is spot-on with his advice - but it is a compromise.
On a side note, if you've gone to the trouble of processing these images in LR, then do make sure you turn off their "auto-enhancement" option in your account preferences. This is switched on by default for new accounts, and it will ruin all you hard work developing/processing your photos. I speak from experience: I use them every once in a while for prints, and they once mistakenly overlooked my "don't use auto-enhancement" preference setting - the photos I got were junk. Happily, they admitted their mistake when I complained and sent me a fresh set within 24-hours.

  • Attachment way too large, now Mail crashes, can't stop process

My daughter attached a huge .AVI movie to an e-mail to send it to her friend and Mail tried to send it for a long time then crashed. Now, whenever we open Mail, it continues to try to send this thing and crashes each time. I've tried to delete the offending e-mail from the Out mailbox but it always reappears the next time Mail is started. How do I get out of this loop? The job never finishes before it crashes and then it starts all over again the next time Mail is opened. Is there a way to "kill" or stop the process, force it to forget this job, and delete it so we can get back to using the Mail tool?

With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
The Outbox.mbox represents "Out" in the mailboxes drawer and is shared by all accounts.
Delete the Outbox.mbox and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and a new Outbox.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the Mailboxes folder and this should resolve the problem.

  • Form Size becoming Too large

    Hello,
I have a very strange problem.
I designed a fillable form using Designer7.0. I reader enabled the form using Adobe Reader Extensions Server 7.0, so that users use their Adobe reader(7.0.5) to fill in the form. The empty PDF form is around 700KB in size.
Now, When the user filled the form manually typing the data(25KB data) in the form and saved it. It saved as 60 MB file. I cannot justify this increase of the size anyways to my authorities. I am looking forward to hearing from you so that I can tell then what can be the possible reasons for this.
Also One more observation. When I imported the 25KB XML file into the empty form and save it, it is just 1.1MB in size.
Please help me understand whats going behind the scenes?
    Thank you for your attention
    Sam

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with a pdf created in LCD. If you ever open a pdf form in LCD and see a message about it being Reader Enabled and that you have to overwrite it, you likely have the same problem I had... My file went from less than 300 kb to more than 16 Mb... and back to around 300 kb with the following solution...
For a reason not very clear, once a file has been applied the Reader Enabled  feature inside Acrobat, if we open it again inside LCD it kind of keeps a memory  and every time we save it adds to it.
What I had to do is  open the pdf file in Acrobat, reapply the Reader Enabled feature (LCD asked me  to remove it when I opened it inside of it) and then do a File --> Save a copy. It  removes the right and all the “memory” of the file and brings it back to a small  file (about 300kb in my case, instead of the more than 15Mo it was  then)!
So, now, every time  that I need to edit a file, I first do a Save a copy in Acrobat (only available  if the pdf has been Reader Enabled) and open it in LCD. No more  problems…

  • While Exporting, Video Clips become too large

I am trying to upload a 50 second video onto youtube. I want the video at Full Quality and i save it in .mov Only I find out that the size of the video is around 80mb! is this normal? is there a way of retaining the full quality while having the size down a bit?

Here are a couple of tutorials that might be useful.

  • TIme Machine  backup grows too large during backup process

I have been using Time Machine without a problem for several months, backing up my imac - 500GB drive with 350g used. Recently TM failed because the backups had finally filled the external drive - 500GB USB. Since I did not need the older backups, I reformatted the external drive to start from scratch. Now TM tries to do an initial full backup but the size keeps growing as it is backing up, eventually becoming too large for the external drive and TM fails. It will report, say, 200G to back up, then it reaches that point and the "Backing up XXXGB of XXXGB" just keeps getting larger. I have tried excluding more than 100GB of files to get the backup set very small, but it still grows during the backup process. I have deleted plist and cache files as some discussions have suggested, but the same issue occurs each time. What is going on???

    Michael Birtel wrote:
Here is the log for the last failure. As you see it indicates there is enough room 345g needed, 464G available, but then it fails. I can watch the backup progress, it reaches 345G and then keeps growing till it give out of disk space error. I don't know what "Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Macintosh HD" implies, maybe this is a clue?
No. It's sort of a warning, indicating that TM isn't sure what's changed on your internal HD since the previous backup, usually as a result of an abnormal shutdown. But since you just erased your TM disk, it's perfectly normal.
    Starting standard backup
Backing up to: /Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb

Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Macintosh HD
Backup content size: 309.5 GB excluded items size: 22.3 GB for volume Macintosh HD
No pre-backup thinning needed: 345.01 GB requested (including padding), 464.53 GB available
This is a completely normal start to a backup. Just after that last message is when the actual copying begins. Apparently whatever's happening, no messages are being sent to the log, so this may not be an easy one to figure out.
First, let's use Disk Utility to confirm that the disk really is set up properly.
First, select the second line for your internal HD (usually named "Macintosh HD"). Towards the bottom, the Format should be +Mac OS Extended (Journaled),+ although it might be +Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled).+
Next, select the line for your TM partition (indented, with the name). Towards the bottom, the Format must be the same as your internal HD (above). If it isn't, you must erase the partition (not necessarily the whole drive) and reformat it with Disk Utility.
Sometimes when TM formats a drive for you automatically, it sets it to +Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled).+ Do not use this unless your internal HD is also case-sensitive. All drives being backed-up, and your TM volume, should be the same. TM may do backups this way, but you could be in for major problems trying to restore to a mis-matched drive.
Last, select the top line of the TM drive (with the make and size). Towards the bottom, the *Partition Map Scheme* should be GUID (preferred) or +Apple Partition Map+ for an Intel Mac. It must be +Apple Partition Map+ for a PPC Mac.
If any of this is incorrect, that's likely the source of the problem. See item #5 of the Frequently Asked Questions post at the top of this forum for instructions, then try again.
If it's all correct, perhaps there's something else in your logs.
Use the Console app (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
When it starts, click +Show Log List+ in the toolbar, then navigate in the sidebar that opens up to your system.log and select it. Navigate to the +Starting standard backup+ message that you noted above, then see what follows that might indicate some sort of error, failure, termination, exit, etc. (many of the messages there are info for developers, etc.). If in doubt post (a reasonable amount of) the log here.

  • How do I import folders from one library to another? My original library has become to large and I want to split it. There is not enough memory to select all the folders I want to move to create a new library.

I also created a new library and tried file-import but cannot see / access any files in the original aperture library with that command.

If you use the Command to Export Project as New Library, then such a Library can be imported into another Library with the command to  Import Library/Project.  The first such export as New Library can be the"seed' Library for starting the process.
But the most important point is there is no performance gain from small Libraries where you think one has become too large, if the new Library is to be on the same disk drive as the original.  My primary library is 1 TB in size, and works as well as tiny test libraries.

  • Value too large for column

Have a need to put in extra column in an interactive report. The extra column is based on values of 2 columns . The problem is if I ran a query like the following, the extra column name( ie. the whole case statement) will become too large , exceed 30 and getting ORA-12899. How to mitigate this ?
    select colA,colB
    case
when colA is null and colB is null then ''
when colA > 500 and colB > 1000 then 'Medium'
    end
    from Table1
    Thanks
    Tai

    this works fine
    select
    case
when colA is null and colb is null then ' '
when colA > 500 and colb > 1000 then 'Medium'
    end val
    from (select 501 colA,1001 colb from dual);
    check alias for case statement
otherwise you might be having some other code causing it , which you are not sharing with us ;)

  • Library too large

I use photos professionally but my Aperture Library is now becoming too large for my Hard-drive on my Macbook Air.  I need to be able to take my Macbook with me at times to work on these photos.  What's the best way for me to do this?  I also have this library backed up to a vault on the same hard drive which seems silly.  What's the best way for me to manage things without losing the functionality to work on the photos within a single library?  I thought about splitting things into multiple libraries but then if I have a recent photo that belongs with an old photo and should reside within the same project.

Get a large, fast external drive and put your library there, and bring it with you. Also have an up-to-date backup that you leave back at your home or office.
