JPEGS Overexposed in Bridge but are actually OK

Using ACR 6.2 & Bridge CS5 (v4.0.3.9)  After the most recent update  I started noticing that various jpegs & tiffs are really overexposed when viewing them in Bridge.  If  I open the file in Camera Raw or Photoshop it displays properly.  I can even open the file in Camera Raw and just hit the "done" button and then go back to bridge and the file will display properly.
Not sure aht is causing it and I have a quick fix to open the file and close it but its a pain in the butt.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  I'm assuming its an issue with the most recent update because it just started happening after I did that.  It appears to only be a display issue and the actual files are ok but its troublesome when numerous files are displaying like they have been way overexposed.
Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix permanently fix it?

"Until a fix is available for this bug, please try the following workaround. After cropping the JPEG in the Camera Raw dialog, select "Export Settings to XMP" from the fly-out menu in the Camera Raw dialog, then click "Done".
Since you are looking into this ACR-crop-overerxposure problem, can I ask that you you also consider the overexposure problem discussed in the thread entitled "ACR 6.3RC still makes Bridge display some TIFFs & JPGs overexposed" in this Camera Raw thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/745757?tstart=0
It seems to me that these problems are more than likely arising from a similar or possibly related cause, and fixing one may well have an influence, but not necessarily a "corrective" influence, upon the other.
In this current "ACR-crop-overexposure" thread ("JPEGS Overexposed in Bridge but are actually OK"), I experience the same, but also additional, issues as the OP and other the posters, with the same versions of Ps and Bridge, but ACR 6.3RC instead of ACR 6.2, installed.
In summary, these issues occur with ALL my JPGs and TIFFs, whether colour or B&W, whether native from the camera (Nikon D700 and  Canon EOS 300D) or scanner (16-bit TIFFs from a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED and an Epson Perfection 4990), whether or not the JPG or TIFF has ever been prior-processed in ANY version of ACR, and even any JPG or TIFF produced at any time (intermediate or final) during an editing session where that image is "derived" from a raw file (NEF or CRW), a PSD, or a TIFF.
1. Opening in ACR hosted by Bridge from Bridge (Ctrl+R), Crop, Done, back to Bridge:
(a) - thumbnail displays roughly 1 stop (possibly more - difficult to estimate sometimes) overexposed;
(b) - thumbnail displays the Crop icon (only - not the edited in "ACR icon") in top right corner;
(c) - Develop Settings/Clear Settings: clears the crop, clears the Crop icon, but overexposure remains AND, WITH A COLOUR IMAGE, the Reds are oversatured - sometimes heavily so;
(d) - Develop Settings/Previous Conversion (immediately following (c)): eliminates the overexposure, restores the ACR icon (but NOT the Crop icon), does NOT restore the crop, AND, WITH A COLOUR IMAGE, the oversaturated Reds remain.
2. Opening in ACR hosted by Ps from Ps (File/Open As/Camera Raw), Crop, Done, back to Bridge:
(a) - thumbnail displays NO overexposure, AND, WITH A COLOUR IMAGE, the Reds are NOT oversatured;
(b) - thumbnail displays BOTH the Crop icon and the ACR icon in top right corner;
(c) - Develop Settings/Clear Settings: clears BOTH the Crop and ACR icons, clears the crop, BUT, the thumbnail now displays the 1 stop overexposure;
(d) - Develop Settings/Previous Conversion (immediately following (c)): eliminates the overexposure, restores the ACR icon but NOT the Crop icon, does NOT restore the crop, and colour images continue to display NO oversaturation of Reds.
None of the abberant behaviour outlined 1. and 2. above occurs when ACR 6.1 is installed in place of ACR 6.3RC.

  • Why cant I label folders on the bridge that are located on Version Cue Server

    Can someone tell me why I cannot label or rate folders that I can see through bridge but the actual folders are on a version cue server.
    I can label each individual image or indesign file inside the folder but I cant label the folder itself or give it a rating.
    Any ideas?

    You can use Adobe's free DNG converter to convert proprietary raws to the universal DNG raw format. Here are the links:
    Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
    Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
    Converting to JPEG will be an extra step afterwards.

    Thank you so much

    If you want seperate accounts for managing apps and purchasing content, basically yes, you need two account and would need to repurchase. However, if you just want seperate ID for iMessgae, icloud and such, you can do that and still continue sharing the same Id for apps and itunes.

  • Raw files saved to jpeg via bridge but now some jpegs won't open in CS5

    I saved Raw files to jpeg via bridge but now some of the jpegs won't open in CS5, they only open in bridge?  How do I get them to open up in photoshop instead?

    I'm not quite sure of your workflow, but here's a couple of things to try:
    1. Make sure the folder to be batch processed contains only JPEGs.
    2. In Bridge, go to Camera Raw Preferences (not Bridge Preferences) and change JPEG and TIFF Handling to Disable JPEG support. This should ensure that all JPEGs open directly in Photoshop.

  • How can I reinstall deleted free Apps which now show as installed but are not actually there?

    How can I reinstall free Apps that I have deleted (because ALL stopped working) which now show as installed but are not actually there?
    I loaded a bunch of free Apps (maybe too many?) right after I got my 4s yesterday, and at some point I noticed that none of the downloaded Apps would work. The screen would blink when I tapped the icons, but the Apps stopped opening. Resetting the phone didn't help, so I decided to delete all the Apps I had downloaded and start over.
    I can get the "Purchased" list to show up by pressing Updates button (is there another way?) but the show as "installed" in greyed-out letter, so I can't figure out how to get them back.

    Your iPad screens aren't completely filled up are they? If they are, you will only be able to find them using the search feature on the iPad.

    Nikon raw files would open up in Adobe Camera Raw and so should jpegs.
    If you select one in Bridge and give the command "Ctrl r" (Windows), what happens?
    Also what is the version of ACR in the title bar?

  • Jpegs look blurry after crop at fit to screen but are fine at 50%... Why?

    I recently upgraded to CS4 and have system 10.6.2.  Jpegs appear blurry after cropping at fit to screen but are fine at 16%, 50% or 100%...  My CS2 version never did this. Anyone know how to fix this bug?
    Thanks

    Your resolution (in the pic) is likely set to 72PPI. In smaller JPGs when they are enlarged to full screen, they will appear pixelated or blurry.
    Before cropping, try setting the PPI to 300.
    I had to do this when making PNGs for conversion to icons, because they would blur when converted. I set almost everything I do to 300PPI.

  • Previews in Bridge CS5 are not sharp

    The preview panel images in Bridge CS5 are not sharp (almost blurry). Also when I select a thumb and view it using the space bar method (from within the Bridge) the image doesn't appear sharp. Anybody have an idea why? They look fine in Bridge CS4. I've been looking for a preference setting to no avail. Doesn't matter if it's RAW or JPG (same results).
    When I select an image and view it using the space bar method (while in the finder) it looks sharp/normal.
    Thanks.

    [I've replied to the wrong thread, but this is still relevant]
    The soft previews also affect raw images which have been cropped within Camera Raw. The 100% preview within Bridge looks soft compared to when editing in Camera Raw.
    Raw images which haven't been cropped look sharp at 100% magnification, but not fit-to-screen.
    The raw files I'm dealing with are CR2, not DNG. However, I converted one to DNG and tried the full size jpeg preview option, but it looks the same. Even if it did work, it would mean converting all CR2 files to DNG, which is a lot of extra work to get round this one problem.
    Here's what I'm seeing. They are both viewed at 100%. The first file shows a screen capture of the Bridge preview, the second within Camera Raw. Again, the raw files are cropped images, which seems to cause this 100% preview problem.

  • .RAF files not recognized in bridge but PS ok.  Patch 7.1 installed.

    .RAF files not recognized in bridge but PS ok.  Patch 7.1 installed.  Anyone know the fix?

    To me it seems related to your Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) converter. Clue inhere is you only miss the Raw files and have no problems in seeing other formats like jpeg and tiff.
    The screenshot you delivered is from the wrong library, however, this same library (the one on system level) also is the location where you should be able to view the correct version of your ACR plugin. The path: library (same as per your screenshot)/Application support/ Adobe/ Plug ins/ CS6/ File Formats. inhere should be only one version of Camera Raw (called: "Camera Raw.plugin") and this should show version 8.3 (141).
    I'm not sure about your bridge version number, Bridge 5 comes with PSCS6 but my most recent version of Bridge is 5.0.2.4.
    Anyway, if you have only one ACR (8.3) installed in the above mentioned path then you might want to try to delete the Bridge plist file and Bridge cache file manually.
    For this you have to Quit Bridge and find the user library (by default hidden, use menu Go in Finder and press option key to reveal).
    Inhere find the plist file (user(your user name) / library / Preferences  and inhere find and manually delete the file called: "com.adobe.bridge5.plist"
    The in same user library find Bridge Cache. User/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6. Inhere are 2 files, the adobe Bridge plug in cache and the folder called Cache. delete (or move outside libray) both items.
    The restart Bridge (If needed also again hold option key to reset preferences) and this will create fresh files for the previous deleted items, leaving you with an almost out of the box factory set version of Bridge.

  • Loops not showing up at all in Garageband.. but are on computer...

    Hey,
    My loops are not showing up... however I don't have my CDs with me at Uni. However, I disovered by using Spotlight that the loops are actually on the computer in a folder called "Apple Loops for Garageband". They are in my user library and the garage band preferences are set to "share loops with this user only" or whatever the option is called - suggesting that it is correct for this folder to be in the User libray and not the main library.
    However I don't even have grayed out samples - they just are not there at all.
    I tried dragging one or two from the folder to Garageband manually and they copied over fine and are now in the sample library... however it won't let me copy them over all in one go for some reason...??
    I have a lot of samples so don't want to do them one by one... so before I resort to that - any advice...?? Whats going on?
    Thanks in advance.

    hey, yea i've been having the same problem, just bought this new imac, and none of the audio loops are working (they all show up gray). i actully spent the time, clicking and draging each one individually, but guess what? not all the loops are there!!! i'm sooo cofused, if anyone has figured this out, that would be extremely helpful thanks!!!!

  • How can i transfer the entire itunes program (not the library,but the actual program itself) from one cpu to another? I have the older version that has the slide feature. I can't stand the new itunes.

    HOW CAN I TRANSFER THE ITUNES PROGRAM ( NOT THE LIBRARIES,BUT THE ACTUALLY EXE PROGRAM ) FROM ONE CPU TO ANOTHER. I CAN'T
    STAND THE NEW ITUNES. I WANT TO TRANSFER MY OLD ONE THAT STILL HAS THE SLIDER FEATURE. THANKS

    Sounds like you've already installed iTunes 11 and are now trying to downgrade. To do so successfully you will also need access to a pre-upgrade copy of your library as set out below...
    The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
    In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
    ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
    CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
    CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
    CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
    Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
    If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
    With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs & List views from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view.
    If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Is there any way to force a PXI6115 to generate AI Start Trig on PFI0 but not actually trigger on it?

    I am using a PXI chassis with 10 6115's and a 6608 counter/timer. I need to use analog triggering on one of the 6115 AI channels. The particular channel will depend on the test setup, so I can't just pick one and hard-wire it. This analog trigger will be the master timing reference for all of the boards.
    However, I need to trigger the 6115's at different times (e.g., trigger three at the same time and seven at some later time) so I'm routing the AI Start Trigger from whichever is the trigger channel (one of the first 16 channels) to RTSI0. The first five counters are then GATEd on RTSI0 and the counter OUTs are hardwired to the 6115's PFI0s in groups of two. So,
    basically, one of the 6115s sends AI Start Trigger to the five counters which, in turn, generate five delayed triggers that are sent to the 10 6115's.
    My problem is that I can't use a zero delay on the counter, so I can't get the 6115s to trigger at the same time, if need be. Whichever one generats the analog trigger will always be slightly ahead of all of the others that I would like to trigger at the same time.
    So my question is this: can I somehow force one of the 6115's to generate the AI Start Trigger across RTSI0 but not actually trigger itself until it gets the trigger back from the counter/timer? This way, the delay will still be there but all of the boards can get a simulataneous trigger if need be.
    Thanks,
    RGA

    RGA,
    Unfortunately, I do not believe that it is possible for a DAQ board to generate an AI Start Trigger from an analog trigger, but not be triggered itself until it receives a digital trigger.

  • Check what oracle installed components are actually being used in database

    I have been allotted a new database which I have to optimize. So I am thinking about removing some installed components which I think are not being used in any way in database (i.e procedures calls etc). I can see a whole lot of components like "SDO","ORDIM" which I think are not being used but previous DBAs have installed them. So, is there any way to ensure that no part of database are actually using these components so that I can remove these components. Also ,what are your expert comments about this?

    Is this a production or a development environment? If an object isn't being used then it's not necessarily a problem (performance wise) unless it's cluttering up either your dictionary or raising concerns in regards consuming unnecessary space. Personally I'd recommend that it's better to tune what is being used / taking resources. It may be a once a year report or some old utility pulled out once a year, best check why these things are there.
    If you go down the dropping route, rather than drop anything immediately lock accounts for an agreed period of time to make sure that the schema isn't used & check any references from other schemas to objects within the schema that you're planning to drop, potentially audit these to check whether they're being called by other schemas / checking dba_dependencies between schemas & objects using a hierarchical query to check sublevels.
    There are also quite a few Oracle standard components that are installed by default that have interdependencies and won't necessarily be used in the dictionary (checking dba_features_usage_statistics)
