Jpg attachements show as BMP on receivers windows pc

Since updating our system to Mac OS X leopard we have a problem sending attachements to windows PCs. Attachements sent as JPG arrive at receiver-inbox as BMP.
We usually attach the files by drag and drop. Have tried over the button "Attachement" and sent them as "windows compatible". Also tried over the Attachement-button and additionally sending them "as symbol". Neither work better.

From what you've posted I'm assuming that you have at least 1 MBP still on 10.4.11 which is the comparison you gave earlier. +same jpg on our second MBP arrives correctly on the windows machine.+
If you haven't already done so I suggest applying the 10.5.3 update to the MBP with 10.5.2. With the rewriting of various sections of code and not every fix being documented it may function correctly now. If it does you can smile again. I also suggest that you download the combo update rather than use Software Update. Also be sure to Repair permissions both before and after. I had 2 permissions to be repaired after the update - clearly introduced in the updating process.
It does seem to me to be a particular issue for you rather than a widespread issue for all users.

I have an iphone, iMac, iPad and other laptops. I received an email with a .JPG attachment. I went to view the attachmet on my iPad and iPhone, where the .jpg attachements show with the dotted line around them. When I tap they "download" and reach the full file size in the dowload countdown, then do nothing, do not display the image and still have the dotted line around them. This happens on both my iPhone or iPad. If I view the same email on iMac or windows laptop, I can see the image fine, but not on iPhone or iPad. What is preventing the image from displaying on any of my mobile devices, but works fine everywhere else?

Yes, I removed all the other servers all the accounts
and setup just the btinternet account
and checked all the settings for primary servers etc
and made sure all correct
also checked the ports and SSL etc
tried 587 and 465
ports
done the same on the iphone and ipad

Backward compatibility FROM what TO what?
CS6 to older, or newer to CS6?

JPG files show up as REVERSED (negative) in Mail

When attaching a JPG file to a Mail message, it sometimes shows up in Mail, on my screen --- as a reverse, negative picture.
I always save photos in Photoshop (CS2) as TIF files. This happens ONLY when I did a SAVE AS and saved the photo as JPG. When I do a SAVE FOR WEB it's saved as JPG (but at 72 dpi), and that JPG will show up normal on my screen when attached in Mail.
Back in PS both JPG files will open normal. So it seems like Mail is not fond of JPGs saved in PS. In either cases, the recipient also receives the photo OK, nothing shows up in reverse.
This has been going on for a while now.....

Yes, it was a CMYK photo.... I loaded it to my Mail window, it looked reversed. I opened it in PS, changed the image mode to RGB, resaved it, loaded it again to my Mail window, now it shows OK....

Mailed iCal attachment shows right date but clicking will put appointment on wrong year, month and day. Even names involved are wrong!

Running Mountain Lion on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Suddenly a mailed iCal attachment showing the right date, time and attendees ends up years and months off on iCal with totally wrong attendiees, when clicked in Mail. iCal synced to iCloud. This may be very trivial for some of you but I need help, please.

I ran into this exact issue after migrating a time machine backup from an older macbook air to a new macbook pro.
The following steps solved my issue:
1) Backup your current mac
2) Create a new user account on your mac, and login to that account.
3) While logged into the new user account, right click the time machine drive and select "get info" > Click the lock icon at the lower right corner so that you can make permission changes. Then Click on the "+" sign and add your new user account to the "Sharing & Permissions" window. Be sure to grant your new user "Read & Write" privileges and when you have done so, click on the down arrow and select "apply to enclosed items" This step will allow you to copy the library folder from your old user account to the new account without hitting any permission issues.
4) Download "TinkerTool" (An application that allows you to enable the viewing of any and all hidden files and folders on your local or mounted hard drives) and check the box that reads "Show Hidden and System Files" and then click "Relaunch Finder.
5) Lastly copy the Library folder from the older user account on the time machine backup drive to the new user's library folder. Also be sure to copy your Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Music folders to the new account as well. Open Mac mail and follow the instructions to import the previous accounts mail messages. Once you receive future ics attachments or calendar invites you should be able to click on them and load the proper date and time within your iCal application.
This worked for me and I hope it works for you.

My iPhone is not showing up in iTunes, or Windows Explorer.

I have looked around searching and tried to uninstall everything that had anything to do with Apple and iTunes. Nothing worked. I also have gone into the computer managment and stopping and starting the apple managment and iPod service. Still, nothing worked. My iPhone will not show up in iTunes, nor Windows Explorer, when I plug it in I can hear the sound that when a device gets plugged into the computer.

It sounds like you have a bad USB driver for the phone. That software is installed with iTunes. Like I said earlier, you need to make sure to uninstall everything using that support document. That clears out all Apple software. Do that without the phone attached to the computer of course. Once you have reinstalled everything, then try and connect it. It should load the USB driver and begin to work.
Let me ask you this. How many pictures do you have in the camera roll? If you have a large number of them and you have not imported them to the computer, there could be a corrupt picture causing you some problems. While that was known in the past to cause syncing problems, I thought that was fixed. If after you uninstalled iTunes the phone was recognized as a camera, I suggest importing the pictures and then deleting them from the camera roll and try the process all over with uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. See if that helps.

I would like to use time Machine to back up to a network SMB drive. I can see the drive on my desktop but it will not show in the time machine window to be able to select it

I currently have a mini server (OSX10.8.5, server 2.2.2) that I am using Time Machine to back up 4 external drives that are connected to the server via firewire 800. I would like to use Time Machine to back up to a windows network SMB drive. I can see the drive on my desktop but it will not show in the time machine window to be able to select it for use.

The supported targets for Time Machine backups are local (direct-connected) disks, and network targets include Time Capsule, a disk hanging off the current-generation AirPort (though not earlier AirPort devices), and OS X Server systems.
The Time Machine storage is based on the HFS+ file system, so I would not expect TM to work with SMB file services.
While there are hacks to allow Time Machine to access network drives, I would not consider those to be reliable. Skim the forum and the 'net for related details, and for previous discussions of setting this up and the related issues that can arise.
Remember to test the recovery with whatever you decide to use; whole point of backups is the ability to restore the data, after all.

Missing "message" from above: The iPad "DGMTR" is synced with another iTunes library on DGMTR's MacBook Pro. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library? An iPad can be synched with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iTunes library.
I thought the libraries were the same.

Cs3 only showing files in the Navigator Window - can't edit?

Hi there!
I have CS3, using Windows 7.
A little over a week ago, I had to re-install cs3 when i could no longer open any files.
Images only show up in the Navigator window and I can see the image's histogram.
However, no image shows in the main window, even after changing display modes, etc.
When I did the re-install, we were back to normal operations, but after about a week and a half
of use, I'm back to the same problem???
I could re-install again, of course, but I'd love to know if there's another solution to this problem.
I'm using a licensed version...purchased by me, from adobe in '07.

but i did check my display settings and somehow was
over on a dual monitor?
i only have one monitor and
i never messed with that setting.
plus, i was able to see images one minute and not the
next, so i'm not sure what's going on with it...
but, i changed to single monitor and it's working again!

The dialog you show there looks like it may be a CS6 open dialog running on windows 8.1 that is showing what is local. Network is not highlighted selected.

Can't seem to get my iPhone5S (OS 7.1.1, left 120MB storage) to show up in My Computer (Windows 7) for file transfer. Whereas another iPhone5S can show up in my PC's My Computer; and my own iPhone can show up on another PC's My Computer. My iPhone is also able to connect to iTunes. Kindly help as I'm looking to transferring my pictures!

Showing output to a command window

Hi Friends
i have an application where i have implemented sockects (server-client) using
client = new Socket(IP,port num); // client
server = new ServerSocket(port num); // server
clientSock = server.accept(); // server
now im sending a SQL query from client to server and at server side i m executing it through jdbc.
i have converted my server socket program to windows service(through some software). So there is no command prompt opened for the Server program.
Now the proiblem is that my requirement is to open a new command window through my server program and show the return result from the query on that window and then close it.
in my server prog i'have writen
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\cmd.exe");
but its not getting opened.
if it does also, i dont have a clue how i'll send the data returned from the query to that window..

Now im trying to open this command prompt from my
server socket program. which is a windows service.
now the problem is that cmd.exe is getting opened but
im unable to see it bcoz it is getting opened in my
server socket service's environment.
What im looking for is to how to open cmd.exe in new
environment and send some data to it to display on
it???Why does it need to be shown in a command window? Is the user going to interact with the program (or the command window). If all you are doing is displaying a result a dialog is a much better answer. Ask your project management about it. If it is only that they like the way the command window looks (which is the only reason if the user does not need to interact with it) then set the back- and fore- ground colors and the font, so that it looks like the command window, and your good.
If the user does not need to interact with the thing, then your program attempting to interact with a command prompt is only introducing a complication and a requirement that you don't need.
Like I said, ask your project manager if you can use a dialog. It is not only easier, it is much more flexible (and sensible).
