JPG Attachments are Tiny when Sent to Other People

I have an issue when I attach JPGs to emails through Mac Mail. I'll have a high res jpg photo, with the .jpg extension, that looks great on my computer. When I send it to other people, the attachment becomes a tiny thumbnail embedded in the computer. You can't save it, it is low resolution, etc. This happens regardless of who I send it to (PC or Mac)...even when I email it to my gmail account on my own macbook computer.
Other attachments, like PDFs, work just fine.
Any ideas??
- Rob

I have the same problem, I send the attachment supposedly as "Original Size" and it ends up 640 X 640. I don't see anything at the bottom right corner of window?

  • Jpg attachments are missing on e-mails

Since I have installed Leopard, my jpg attachments are missing on some e-mails.
The picture is there, but the paperclip is missing
If I send a PDF file or any other file it is working ok

I have seen the same problem. Some times the jpg seems to be missing. What I have been doing is to save the jpg to the desk top. Even though I could not see it I knew it was there. The subject made reference to the attached picture or some such. As it will save it had to have been there some where. If I want to forward this e-mail I just reattach the jpg that I saved to the desk to. I tried just forwarding the e-mail but the jpg (attachment or whatever) did get transmitted.

Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Unfortunately, we may have to wait until Apple is more forthcoming with information.

  • I have an iPhone 4S - sometimes when I IMessage other people with iPhones it goes though as a text? Any help appreciated thx

I have an iPhone 4S and sometimes when I send other people who have an iPhone a message it goes through as txt instead of iMessage - can anyone help please ?

Help with what? There is the setting below(Settings - Messages) that allows you to send as SMS, if yours or other peoples imessage connection is not available. So if you don't want to send as text, just turn it off, but bear in mind they may never receive your message, especially if they stopped using iphones and moved to something else.

  • URGENT- DOING MEMORIAL VIDEO sound and video are off when sent to iDVD

I watch the video in iMovie and the sound and video are in sync. When I send to iDVD, the two are no longer in sync. I have made changes to the iMovie project since my last DVD burn. With the initial burn, there were no sound issues.
I've tried all of the following:
    1. closing and reopening iMovie and iDVD
    2. resending from iMovie to iDVD
    3. readding the clip and removing the original clip from the iMovie project
    4. restarting my computer
The only things I have not done are the following:
    1. redownloading the original video clip from my camcorder
    2. recreating the project
    3. trying a different project to see if that one has the same audio/video issue (this will be my next step)
#2 above is literally so intense as I have a lot of editing on this. To make it clear to you, I have video footage of a memorial.... and after the memorial I chose little 20-30 second clips here and there. I don't have audio with those clips -- just iTunes music overlay.... so, those I don't need to worry about sound coinciding.... just the 30 minute clip that is the actual memorial service.
This is time sensitive.... it is a memorial video and I don't have time to redo the thing from the beginning, especially considering how long it took me to find those 20-30 second clips of the post-memorial.
    Please help!

Yes... I had seen that.... and, yep, have the latest software.... and even rebooted my machine thinking that maybe it hadn't been restarted since the update (can't remember how long ago the update was).
I did a test run with a mobile size (it takes over an hour when I share with iDVD, which has been annoying with all my attempts to "fixing") file sharing with media browser and still the sound was not matched.
I started another project alltogether in iMovie and it does not have the sound issue when sent to iDVD....
I can copy and paste the more difficult editing I did between the "bad original copy" and my "do-over"... but, it seems to not copy exact length of each clip (it decreased it by a second each clip on the ones I copied over but that is weird since it did copy over the slowed % I had on the original) ..... see the more complex editing I have has the sound silenced and I have music overlay on that....
I have many more to go... and can't copy text directly from one project to another... in fact, there is a lot you can't just copy over.... I have to redo the music, special effects etc. This is not going to be a walk in the park if I can't find a way to make my "bad original copy" work.
Still looking for more suggestions (than to start all over), but will have to start over if I spend too much time making the one I have work.... then it becomes more sensical to just start over. I have quite a bit of time in the original, but if I can copy and paste the clips, that takes a majority of the work out.... but, if any of my copy and pastes somehow "corrupt" the sound sync on the portion that isn't silenced and music overlaid, then, there is a lot of work having to recreate all my edits from scratch.

  • Why photos already uploaded to Ipad are erased when I sync other photos using Itunes ?

Why previous photos uploaded to Ipad (retina) are erased when I sync it through Itunes to upload additional photos ?

To keep the photos previously loaded when you previously synced you have to continue to select them when syncing additional photos. If you don't they will be deleted.

  • Getting imessages sent to other people

I'm having repeated issues with my i messaging receiving messages incorrectly.
A few weeks ago, I texted (iMessaged) a friend of mine. He received it but the message also popped up on my mom's phone but as if she had sent it. How weird?! When she replied (to my message), it sent to my friend. This is right after she had updated to ios8.1.
I looked in my settings and her phone number and Apple ID were listed as places that I could be reached through iMessage. This makes no sense because we do not share an Apple ID and neither of us even know the others password. But unchecking those seemed to stop it.
But now, I've randomly started receiving texts that my brother's friends are sending to his phone. He does share an Apple ID with my mom but again, I have a separate one so I don't know why I would be receiving these messages.
I checked my settings and there is no phone number or Apple ID listed but my own and I know they are not logged into mine because they don't know the password. When this happens, we aren't even on the same wifi because I live in a different state. The only thing we have in common is being on the same cell provider.
Why is this happening and how can I stop it? Naturally this is extremely annoying for other people to be receiving texts I meant for someone else and me to receive other people's private texts.
Also, you'd think the Apple website would be at least remotely easy to use on iPhone. Not at all.

i dont think that anyone is forwarding the messages, but i'm looking through my macbook and i'm seeing everything being sent from my own phone, and its snippets of random conversations which is weird. And she doesn't have my icloud password or has used any kind of update with my information before!

  • Mail attachments not available when sent

Attaching files in Mail, either by drag and drop, or using the "Attach" button on the "New Message" window, seems to work on the iMac, but when the files are sent and opened in Outlook Express on Windows XP, or online (Gmail) with a browser, only a thumbnail shows up. A reply for that message, coming from a Windows machine, contains the attachment as would have been expected. This problem occurs on two iMacs using the same operating system. Both are set to send emails as Windows-friendly attachments, and both have been updated to the latest version. Using thunderbird causes no such problems. Anyone else having the problem?

It's the way Mac Mail is designed, it embeds images and attachments rather then actually attaching them.
What you can do however is have a look at Attachment Tamer, it changes the default behaviour of mail to attach rather then embed which i think is what you're looking for.

  • Some PDF attachments are corrupted when emailed using javamail

I have a java class that takes a file name, 'To' email, and 'From' email as parameters, and then emails the named file to the specified address as a Multipart email.
The problem that I am facing is that sometimes the PDF cannot be opened when it arrives because it is corrupt. I know that prior to sending, the PDF opens without issue, so the problem is in the code somewhere.
There are a couple of oddities here:
    1) PDFs that get corrupted and PDFs that do not get corrupted are generated from the same source (Oracle Report), so I believe that rules out a problem with malformed emails?
    2) If I compare the PDF before it gets sent to the PDF that arrives in my inbox using a hex editor (XVI32), the files are identical except that an extra character is getting added to the corrupt PDFs at the end of each line - hex '0A', which corresponds to ASCII linefeed. This indicates to me that maybe there is a problem with the way that the file is getting encoded when it is read. If I remove all of the 0A characters, the file opens correctly.
I believe that the code I am using is set up correctly, as I have looked at countless examples of this online to try to find my problem. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Code is included below.

Normally pdf files are text, with any binary data represented as encoded text. If your pdf files
include raw binary data, JavaMail can be confused. JavaMail will try to guess what encoding
is appropriate for your data. If the data is mostly text, JavaMail will use quoted-printable encoding,
and will canonicalize the text lines to end with CRLF (0x0D, 0x0A). A 0x0D in the binary will look
like an end of line and will turn into 0x0D, 0x0A.
You can force JavaMail to use base64 encoding for your data, which will preserve the binary
    data exactly, by using
    attachFilePart.setHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", "base64");
after setting the content for the part.
Alternatively, you could figure out how to generate pdf files that don't include raw binary data.

  • Word documents are garbled when sent through Outlook Exchange. I know something in the profile folder gets corrupted. Anyone know what?

Our school district uses the web based version of Outlook Exchange. Several of us using Apple computers have had problems when sending word documents as attachments. When received, the document is full of garbled text. This has happened with different model computers, running 10.5.x or 10.6.x. I determined that removing the items from the folder in profiles (Users-> <user> ->Library->ApplicationSupport->Firefox->Profiles-><profile folder>) the problem is resolved. However, all preferences for Firefox are then lost. Does anyone know what specific item in the folder would cause this?

I think this is an excellent indicator that not only is Palm reviewing the feedback from the support forums here, but actively reviewing feedback/comments/wishes on other sites as well.
As the original poster copied this (quite solid, IMO) wishlist from Pre Central, the palm support staff acknowledged first seeing it there.

  • When exiting Outlook it complains attachments are open when they're not

This has quickly become a widespread issue at our company over the last few months. End users will use Outlook throughout the day, opening and closing email attachments from within Outlook as per normal. At the end of the day, they'll try to exit Outlook, which
will then popup an error one by one for every attachment that has been opened by that user since they started Outlook:
"A program has attachment filename open. Changes to this file will be lost unless you save your changes to another file by clicking the File Tab in the other program, and then clicking Save As."
I can assure you that NONE of the attachments that it's complaining about are actually open in another program. I've tested by shutting down ALL programs on the workstation before closing Outlook, and the same error will
popup over and over for every attachment that user has opened throughout the day.
Environment is Outlook 2010 and 2013 32-bit, running on Windows 7 SP1 x64 workstations and laptops, most are in online mode with Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 7 on the backend.
This issue has popped up on various combinations of software, some running Outlook 2010, some Outlook 2013, some in online mode and some in cached mode, for MANY users in our company (not all though).
Googling for similar issues doesn't turn up much.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Do you have a folder redirection environment?
When we open attachments within Outlook, Outlook puts these attachments in a subdirectory of the Temporary Internet Files directory as an additional precaution. We may try to empty the Temporary Internet Files folder before exiting Outlook to check
if this issue will disappear. We can find the Temporary Internet Files directory in the OutlookSecureTempFolder registry key from the following registry path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\xx.0\Outlook\Security  (xx.0 is the version of your Outlook)
In addition, does this issue exist if we open Outlook in safe mode? Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
outlook /safe and press Enter. If this issue doesn't exist in safe mode, it means this issue may be caused by a problematic add-in you installed. We can go to File > Options > Add-ins and then disable suspicious add-in
    to resolve the issue.
If you have any virus scanner installed, please also try to temporarily disable it and then test it again. This is because virus scanner always integrate itself with Outlook, which may cause an Outlook shutdown issue.
Please let me know the result.

  • I cannot view HTML attachmants in Firfox that are visible in IE. However, the attachments are visible when I forwarded on the email.

When I check the the properties of the attachments that Firefox cannot open (but IE can) they show them as Firefox HTML documents. However, the attachment can be viewed when I forward on the email.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my baffling dilemma. Unfortunately I have no idea what to do with your advice? Is ContentID cid something that I have control over? I suspect that the answer to my problem is elemental and is something very seldom considered by rocket scientist or other like minded intellectuals. It is a reoccurring problem which suggests that it is a fundamental settings error which should be easily solved. I simply need to know which button to press. It is not my intention to appear flippant but simplicity in any response would be appreciated. ,

  • PDF attachments are changed when emailed

I have a user that whenever she creates or prints a PDF (Adobe 8 Professional) and then tries to email it within Adobe (going to file -> attach to an email), it converts to either a winmail.dat, .eml or a .mht file when the person receives it. It only does this when she sends to someone not using outlook. If she attaches the pdf outside of Adobe, then it works. Rich-text is turned off in Outlook and Adobe is patched and up to date. Any suggestions???? This is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried changing the message format in Outlook to HTML?

  • Zip attachments are unusable when moving an email message

I'm asking this question on behalf of a coworker. Here's the scenario.
Each month we receive a .zip file from one of our vendors. My coworker receives that file, and if she moves the message from her inbox to a different folder (in Apple Mail) the .zip file becomes unusable ... it's displayed as garbled text/code.
If she doesn't move that .zip file it's perfectly normal and usable, but as soon as it moves it's zapped.
Any ideas on what's causing this, and how to fix it?

The garbled text is displaying in the mail message (after it's moved). Here's a partial screen shot:
The extra quote level was added when she forwarded the message to me.
Normally she's able to use the attached ZIP file, but as part of her workflow she moves her emails to different folders depending on what she needs to do next. That works for everything except this email with the ZIP file. She'll move the email, but then the ZIP turns into what I showed in the screen shot. When it gets to this point there's nothing to unzip.
As long as she remembers to NOT move this email (and grab the attachment right away) everything is fine. But if she moves the message, then the bad stuff happens.

  • Images imported into Pages are blurry when sent as PDF

Just got Pages and am trying to produce my first newsletter. Using a template, I dragged some images over an existing image in the template. I also added some images on my own and used the masking tool to crop them. Pics varied in size from 1200x1600 to 3264x2448. They looked good in Pages, but when I used the Send via Mail as PDF function, all of the images appeared blurry in the PDF.
Can someone tell me what I did wrong and how I can get clear pics in my newsletter?
    Thanks.

    Pages '09 v4.2. and 10.8.2.
I just selected the Fashion newsletter, then dropped a 1920x1200x72dpi sRGB image onto the woman's image. It automatically resized to fit the frame. Saved the Pages document. Then, used the Send via Mail as PDF option.
In Mail, I selected the PDF, and then tapped the spacebar to bring the PDF page up in QuickLook. I then dragged this adjacent to the open Pages document and could not detect (at 72 dpi) any visual differences in color or resolution.
From QuickLook, you can view the PDF in the default PDF application. Does it still resolve differently in Preview or Acrobat Reader?
I think it was mentioned here in the Pages community earlier that Pages and Preview use different OS X imaging libraries than Mail. Anyone care to comment?
