JPG keywords are missing

My keywords applied to my jpgs are missing. I have entered the keywords again and again but after a couple of dats all keywords are gone. I did reset the preferences did not help. Any suggestions why this is happening?

I've got the same problem.
Also, labels and ratings are not saving.
All looks OK when I set ratings, labels and/or keywords. But then if I close Bridge and restart it, rating, labels and keywords are gone.
This is happening only for JPEGs, NEFs are fine.
I'm using CS3 (Bridge version is 2.1.1.9) on 64bit Vista.
Can anyone help with this?

Since I have installed Leopard, my jpg attachments are missing on some e-mails.

I have seen the same problem. Some times the jpg seems to be missing. What I have been doing is to save the jpg to the desk top. Even though I could not see it I knew it was there. The subject made reference to the attached picture or some such. As it will save it had to have been there some where. If I want to forward this e-mail I just reattach the jpg that I saved to the desk to. I tried just forwarding the e-mail but the jpg (attachment or whatever) did get transmitted.

LR5 keywords are missing

When i try to upgrade to LR5 I see the keywords are missing. Eevn when I import them again, no keywords...
With about 275.000 images keyworded in LR3-4...

If the sidecar file has the keywords (and it will not have keywords by default, you must tell LR to put the keywords there), then you can force Lightroom to read them via Metadata->Read Metadata from Files. But if the keywords aren't in there, then re-importing the photos into LR5 and reading the sidecar files doesn't get you where you want to go.
It would still be easier (and more data will transfer, data that is never written to sidecar files) to upgrade the catalog as I said.

All the photos are missing in my iphoto 4.0.3. The files are on the side under source but the screen also stays blank in every file. What to do?

I had a similar situation with some of my photos, not all of them. During help from a genius at Apple an error occurred and we feared I might have lost my photos. When the problem was "fixed", the photos showed up as being taken the same day and no longer in the original order. In addition numerous photos were gone.
I'm told the photos still exist on the HDD but just can't be found by iPhoto. If this is the case how do I find them? Would I be able to do a search for all jpg files to do this?
On a side note: I've backed up my HDD to an external drive and I'm about to erase my HDD and update Panther to Tiger. When I move the user files back to the HDD I plan on consolidating them into one user.
Any insight is most appreciated.

What is the Lightroom Library?
The Library module of Lightroom can be used to arrange, codify, systemize, group, and classify your media. When you import your images and video into the Library, you are adding information about your files to a catalog. Your files remain on your hard drive where they were, unless you are importing them from a camera, in which case the files are copied to your hard drive to a location of your choosing.
What is a Lightroom catalog?
The catalog is a database that stores information about the files you've imported into Lightroom. When importing a file, the first thing Lightroom does is collect the file's name and location on the hard drive. If the file has any attached compatible metadata, such as keyword tags, these are imported as well. You can use multiple catalogs and your catalogs can be carried forward from version to version.
Why does Lightroom say my files are missing?
Since the catalog database only stores information about your file, and not the file itself, if any of that information is changed outside of Lightroom, the connection to the file is lost. There are three ways this can happen: the file name is changed, the file location is changed, or the file has been deleted. If you need to rename, move, or delete a file, you can do so within the Library module, and then the connection is not lost.
What is Reconnecting?
When a file has been renamed, moved, or deleted, the catalog database needs to be updated with that new information. The Reconnection process allows you to point out a file's new name, it's new location, or to delete the database entry on your file if the file no longer exists on your hard drive.

Similar happened to me when i moved my iTunes library from XP to Win 8.1. Apps were in iTunes but would not sync to iPhone - could not find oritinal file. Win Xp and 8.1 have different file paths for My Documents and My Music. Locate the folder within iTunes called Mobile Applications. It should have a file with an IPA extension for each application. Add that folder to library. That will refresh the iTunes database so that it knows where to find the apps. I had to do that to my entire library (music, podcasts, etc)

Save for Web :: some elements are missing

Hello,
This is just to report a problem with "Save for Web" option. I have a logotype opened in illustrator, when "save for web" option and saving as PNG. Some of the elements in the illustrator file are missing. Here are a few screenshots to see what I'm talking about. Hope this helps to figure out what is going on.

CS3: PDF-Export Transparency Issue when Image-Links are missing

I have a Layout with a transparent Frame on the top most Layer. For this Workflow-Step I do not have access to the original Image-Links, so I guess that all I see are the embedded Preview-Pictures and InDesign reports that all Object-Links are missing.
If I export this Layout as JPG, the resulting JPG looks like the WYSIWYG in InDesign, which is suitable for this workflow-step. However when I export as pdf, the Frame is not transparent anymore. Instead it is filled with white color and covers the rest of the Layout. In Adobe Reader I can actually select the wrongly covered Picture at the border of the frame and copy&paste it somewhere and it looks fine.
When I provide the original Frame-Picture and repair the missing Link in InDesign, PDF-Export works fine.
I have installed & updated InDesign on a new Mac OS X 10.4.11, so all settings should be default.
Transparency Blend Space is set to CMYK. I tried all default PDF-Export Profiles and tried a lot of different settings in the pdf-export dialogue including different PDF-File-Versions, Simulate Overprint on/off, Color-Conversion disabled, disabling Picture-Compression and much more. I also tried to Print a PS-File and then use the Distiller: same result.
I use Adobe InDesign CS3 V 5.0.2 and tried Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 to display.
Any Ideas?

Transparency flattening REQUIRES having access to the high-resolution images to get good results. One of the slogans I teach printers is "Fatten before you flatten." Meaning, replace the low-res images with high-res images.

With LR 3.4.1 my keywords are not saved to file

Since upgrading to LR 3.4.1 my keywords are no longer saved to the files so I can not see them in an external application. If I revert back to LR 3.3 it works OK. Any ideas?
I have the option set to automatically write changes into XMP.
I tried to write metadata to files manually and that does not work either.
The files are .jpg
I'm using a Windows 7 32bit PC.

External drives often have special ACLs on them that can cause access problems for some apps. All it takes is for Lr to change how it accesses file and file metadata (even a change that made it more "correct" -- i.e., a bug fix for some other problem) and it can uncover ACL issues.
I don't know what you would have to do on Windows to remedy this, but on a Mac, I would make sure that the drive is setup to be "shared" so it has additional special ACLs on it that allow ownership to be taken.
But, you want to start at the root of the drive, and reset ALL the ACLs (NOT just the "permissions" which are older, simulated and incomplete settings, and making sure to recurse through the entire folder structures) such that the owner/creator and admins have full control. There may be other special ACLs required if you want to share this disk with different users on different machines. This part I am not familiar with, but it comes up often on Windows support sites. Look or people having similar problems with Windows remote disk services.
Remember, if you have a login on two different Windows machines (assuming you do not have some sort of network-wide login) this is technically two different users (even if they have the same name).

Hi,
I created a document in Pages v5.2 last week and have just opened it and received the following message:
'Some images are missing because they were deleted from the document'
When I try and replace the missing images I get the following message:
'The image "filename" couldn't be inserted.'
When I try and reimport the original image I get the following message:
'The image "filename" couldn't be inserted. This image is of an unsupported type.'
If I try and insert an image that was not in the document before, in the same file format, it goes in fine.
If I insert the original image into a blank Pages document it goes in no problem.
I would also like to point out that the data folder still contains lots of versions of images in the document, but does not seem to have any of the ones I am actually using, which I guess is where the problem is. However I have no idea how or why these specific images have been deleted.
Any light on how this problem has come about, and the best possible way to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I have Pages v5.2.2 on OS X 10.9.4. I can not reproduce your stated issues with images in this version of Pages. I don't have a solution for you. See my test in the third paragraph. If I were experiencing this behavior, I would perform a Safe Boot to clear out System caches, and try again, before kicking Pages v5+ to the curb.
The Safe Boot would be pressing and holding the shift key at boot chime, and until a horizontal progress bar shows on the screen. At the eventual login screen, after you type your password — press and hold the shift key — press the right arrow to login, and release the shift key after the Finder menu bar appears. Then reboot normally.
I have created a new document. Dragged and dropped an image into it and saved. Exited Pages. Reopening worked fine. Deleted the image, and proceeded through the following steps, punctuated by save, exit, reopen, and deliberate image removal. Different .jpg image each time. About mid-way through the following item list, I rebooted the MBA just to throw some "spin" into the process. I did not perform a Safe Boot prior to this series of tests.

What version of iPhoto are you using?
This is the the first time I have ever launched it.
Does that mean there are no photos in the library? If so move it to the Trash bin in the Dock and launch iPhoto again.
If there are photos in the library do the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Most items are missing from BSIS

Hi,
I'm querying BSIS (direct read from table) via SQ01, and most items are missing. It seems to depend on the general account number: those registered in a profits-and-loss type of account are missing. Those registered in a balance-sheet type of account are here. They're not in BSAS either. Are all uncleared items supposed to be in BSIS? Where can I look for those?

I ALWAYS search this forum before posting a question and usually have very little luck. I am either horrible at framing my search criteria or too impatient to look through dozens of pages of hits that aren't very well sorted for matches to my keywords.

Hierarchical keyword are flat in the keywording pane (will export mode)

Let's say I have this hierarchical structure of keywords
Birthday
     Bob
Friend
     Alice
     Bob
The "Friend" group is used to identify people present in photo.
But when I shoot Alice at the Bob's Birthday, the exported keywords are : Alice, Birthday, Bob (Friend keyword is not check for export)
I understand it's mainly because hierarchy is not handle by jpg format but I'm looking for a workaround.
Something like automatically convert hierarchical link into the sign '>' to produce a result like : Alice, Birthday>Bob
But I don't know if this is a good idea to proceed like this.
Don't pay too much attention to the example which is very basic. For this kind of structure, I think the best way is to replace "Bob" by "Bob's birthday" to remove the duplicate keyword. But I have more complicated use cases and removing duplicate keyword is not always so easy.
So, did you have some "export tips" ?
May be the problem come from my keyword structure ? Is it evil to have duplicate keyword in different "folder" ?

I have give it a try but I have the same problem as decribe here.
Plus, when I check "Write keywords as Lightroom hierarchy" all keyword are exported.
This is fine when you import the file elsewere because you get all the tag hierarchy but this is not what I need :-(

Is there a reason why all the micro4/3 lenses (panasonic, Leica and Olympus) are missing as lens corrections in all Lightroom versions?

They are not missing.
Within the last year or two many cameras do their own lens corrections before writing the JPG or even displaying the image on the back of the camera or in the electronic view finder, so Adobe does the same thing: the lens profiles are built into the camera raw engine and always applied. It’s confusing because cameras didn’t used to do this and Adobe didn’t used to do this, so we have the situation of older cameras having lens profiles you had to select from the dropdown lists, while newer cameras don’t require this. Of course removable-lens cameras still have this situation, but many/most recent P&S cameras have built-in lens corrections.
The Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop actually indicates when a built-in profile is being used, but LR does not, yet.

Dashboard "buttons" are missing...

The previous system folder is created when you do an archive and install. It is a sort of safety net that contains all of your programs and files. It is not bootable, and I have never needed to use one after an archive and install. I do, however, keep that folder for about 3 weeks (I rarely have needed to do an archive and install) before deleting. As you may have noticed, that folder is rather large and probably should be deleted after a bit.
If you are not doing so, you might want to consider getting an external firewire drive and then using Time Machine. TM is a good way to drop back and/or recover files or even the entire system in the event of problems. I overkill backups by both using TM and also making a bootable clone of my systems on a periodic basis.

There are still plenty of images attempting to be loaded from a folder level above the Root:

are you sure there is an "images" folder in the root?

Typically attempting to look at the index file of a folder level will return "Access Prohibited" or actually reveal the file and sub folder structure with that folder level... but trying to directly access the "images" folder returns page not found. While I realize there may not be any index page there... I would normally be getting "Access Prohibited".
You may have made changes but are you sure they have ALL been uploaded to the server?
Are you uploading via DreamWeaver or an FTP program?
How are you verifying that the server folder structure is exactly the same as your local machine?
