Jpgs are greyed out in process multiple files.

I have a new iMac, with Elements 11, all jpgs are greyed out when I try to process multiple files.

Are these photos in iphoto? You can't access the iphoto library directly. Writing into that library from outside iphoto is the fastest way to corrupt it and lose the photos. Export the photos from iphoto and work on the exports. If that's not it, where are these jpegs located?

Make sure you are in Full Edit and not Guided or Quick.

Photoshop CS3, wanting to batch re-size JPGs, going: file-scripts-image processor, the batch images are greyed out can't be highlighted

Hi - I am trying to batch re-size JPGs in CS3. I go: file-scripts-image processor and select a batch of JPGs but these are greyed out and can't be highlighted, therefore can't be re-sized. This function worked in the past and suddenly does not. Reading forums on this topic I find I should remove/trash 'Photoshop Preferences'. But I am struggling to find Photoshop Preferences. Really would appreciate simple instructions written for the layman not a computer savvy individual, on how/where to locate these, please. Many thanks.

A few things to try.
1)Since jpg's are finiky with bit modes, make sure your mode is in 8-bits per channel only. (found in the image>mode menu)
2)you could try resetting the preferences by using the 3 modifier keys at startup. ctrl-alt-shift(windows) cmd-opt-shift(mac) Hold these three keys down when you start photoshop if done right when photoshop starts you should get a dialog box asking if you want to reset the preferences)
3)If these do not help specify the version of photoshop, what OS you have and its version. Then someone can tell you the location of the preference files since it is different on windows vs. a mac.

.jpg files are greyed out when I try and upload to website

I used Image Capture to scan documents in order to upload to a website. When I go to select the .jpg files they are greyed out. Any suggestions?

I have to reduce the resolution for files in a folder. I have done this in the past but have a problem with the reinstall of Elements 11 on a PC that lost it's mind and had to reinstall all software. The Process Multiple Files under the File heading is grayed out and will not allow me to point to the files to be reduced. Sure would like some help on this. THX.

You have to be in Expert Mode (see this picture) to enable the "Process Multiple Files ..." from the file menu. You are in the Editor windows, right?

Process Multiple Files - Not Renaming RAW to JPG

Im trying to process a few RAW files and convert them to JPG.
The Process raw dialog is set up correct, but it seems after the first image is processed, I am prompted for a location to save the file, and its wanting to be saved as a .psd file and in the same location of the .RAW files...dispite the fact that I have a seperate destination location specified, and despite the fact that I have the settings to convert to >JPG Max Quality.
Any ideas why this may be happening? I am new to elements so im not sure if I am doing something wrong. I modified a RAW file and set my edits as the Camera Raw Default, and I just with to apply these settings to all my RAW files and convert to jpg.

There is a bit of a sequence to follow but this seems to work best.
To convert to jpeg select your raw files in Organizer and click on the Fix tab and choose Full Photo Edit. Wait for Camera Raw to open and click the button Select All (top left) then apply your saved default settings to all the selected images. Keep them all selected and click Open Images (towards bottom right - and select 8 bit as Barbara suggests before clicking that button) to send the selected images into the Editor.
After the Editor opens go to the top menu bar click File >Process Multiple Files.
Set the dropdown for your source to Opened Files then for the destination, check same as source.
At the bottom of the dialog under File Type choose the jpeg quality from the dropdown e.g. Max, High, Medium or Low. Choose your naming convention.
Click OK and leave the program to run (this can take a bit of time as raw files are usually large). When finished close the Editor and return to your folder to see your Jpegs next to your raw files. Or go to your new destination folder if preferred.

Process Multiple Files - Convert PSD to JPG

Having problems converting large (30MB) psd files to jpg (not jpeg2000). I tried using the Process Multiple Files feature and when I tried to convert a large number of psd files (20 or more) PSE3 stops at the first file with a second window, SAVE AS, asking for a different format and gives these choices: Photoshop, JPEG 2000, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop RAW, PNG, TIFF. All not what I want. Yet when I convert the same PSD files to tiff it goes without a hitch, ie no second Save As box and no stopping. What gives?

First, I'm using an iMac G5 with Mac OS 10.4.7 and PSE3. Actually my question is really about a Batch Flip. I scanned a lot of slides (close to a 1000) at the 'best' quality I could which was 16 bit color (or as Canon calls it, 48 bit) and 2400 bit dpi. But there was a problem in that the slides being 'emulsion side down' during scanning produced a mirror image. These images have to be 'Horizontal Flipped' to get back to a correct image. To do the flip I either had to do it one at a time with PSE3 or try a batch process. Trouble is the programs I tried for the batch process will not work on 16 bit files as I deduced from your reply. So, my thought was to convert them to jpg first then batch flip, hence my question here. Also jpgs would be more manageable for viewing, slide shows, editing and other software while I could store the original *.psd files on DVDs. So now I am left with doing a Batch Flip one at a time then storing the originals on DVDs, and as I have a Windows box connected, copy then over and use something like IrFanview to convert the originals to jpgs for slide shows etc. Another issue: are jpgs the way to go or is there a better format? Tiff?

In my Music Library the MPEG format files are greyed out and I cannot edit them, any ideas?

I have imported both ACC and MPEG files into my Itunes music library. On the ACC tunes I can edit information through Get Info command. On the MPEG tunes I cannot edit the information through Get Info command as all entries are greyed out. Any ideas?

Process Multiple Files jpegs grayed out

Process Multiple Files in Photoshop Elements 10 for Mac OS 10.9.2 worked on several folders of jpegs then stopped working. Any folder that contains jpegs has the jpeg files grayed out. I get the error message, "The source folder you have selected is empty." However I can work on the jpeg files in that folder if I do it one at a time. I tried quitting the program then going back in and still I get the same error message.

The folder I was trying to process was in another folder with a
backslash in the name. Once I removed the backslash, Process Multiple
Files worked again. Thanks for the quick response and the helpful hint.

What do you mean by "copy and paste a page"? What tool have you selected? Or are you just assuming you can select stuff and copy/paste as in Word?

Can't process multiple files on one of three catalogs

After getting straightened out about getting my catalogs in order, which I've done, I've run into another problem. I have three catalogs one for People, one for Things and one I call Workplace where I try out things that are new to me so I don't mess up my main catalogs.
I've straightened out the files in my Things catalog. I have one catagory that contains images of autograph book pages from the late 1800s. Those scans were done in JPEG some time ago. I've tried using multiple processing to change these 55 images to psd in the original file to be consistent with the rest of the catalog. Each time the process fails.
In order to see what the problem might be I have copied the catagory file into both of my other catalogs and have been able to process the catagory file back into itself as psd. I have also created another small file in the Things catalog and tried to convert it and had the same result. The warning info box that appears when copying back into the same file states that the original files will be overwritten. The psd files do not overwrite the jpg files. They are added to the original file. That may be the way it is intended to be. That's not a real problem.
The real question is why can't I process multiple files in the original catalog. I have looked at the error file and, although I don't know much about most of it, I found the following in the first part of the file.
crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION"
I run XP SP3 and PSE 8. I am a single user with administrator rights. I find no mention of a permission filter in the PSE 8 program.
I'm stuck until I solve this problem and I need help getting it done. Any suggestions or information will be greatly appreciated.

One thing to try : instead of using 'process multiple files', can you use the 'export' feature in the Organizer to export the jpegs of that category in psd format into a new folder ?
