Jpgs display as folders

In Bridge CS6, in certain folders, the image thumbnails are a folder icon rather than the actual image, both in the content and preview windows. I have tried "Purge Cache for Selection" with no luck. On the other Mac Pro on the network, all files display properly. Both macs running 10.7.5. Any thoughts? --tom

Hi Victoria!
Thanks for the reply.  Here's what happens:
Right clicking on "Volumes" shows "Hide this Parent", not "Hide Parent Folder".
When I click on "Hide This Parent", the entire structure underneath "Volumes" goes away:
Just for a lark, I right-clicked "Pictures", (my top level parent on my internal HDD), and was prompted with this:
which I have not clicked yet.  Because I'm scared.  Is this what I should be doing though?

  • In place display of folders:available?

    Hello,
Is the inplace display of folders and their contents available in 3.0.8 ? currently,
I use a html portlet to show the fixed tabset. But, in 3.0.7, if you go to a folder, then you lose the tabs. Any workarounds or
do I have to go to 3.0.8 ?
    Thanks

Thank you Jerry ! That was a feature that we were really looking fwd. to. Could you please take a look at my post about the disappearing folder region edit links ? I take the following steps to consistently get the same result:
    1. Create content area
    2. From Navigator (or Explorer), click on edit Folder properties.
    3. click on the page tab (so now you see the pageforXXX)
    4. Edit the page so that now you have a horizontal region with a HTML portlet (or some other portlet) and the bottom region has the nav bar and folder.
    5. Now go the CA and click edit folder style, style link->folder layout. The links to edit the different folder regions is not there.
    Any clues.

  • Document types displayed as folders when arranged by set to type

    Hello everyone,
I have an issue with the finder since upgraded to Lion.
I use to open finder in column view with "Arranged by" set to "Type" and "Sort by" set to name. But the thing is that the titles/names of the document types are sometimes diplayed or behave as ordinary folders.
Look at the snapshot below (sorry it's a french one): in the left column, display is fine. But in the middle one, "Dossiers", "Contacts", "Documents PDF" and "Documents" are displayed as ordinary folders.
Note that the issue does not limit to the display. These non existing folders can be selected with my mouse.
Moreover, it happens randomly and I checked on a new Account: issue is still there.
So, as anyone observed that ?
    Thanks a lot,
    Nicolas.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes this happens to me quite often.
I have no solution to the problem, but it is rather annoying. Especially if you navigate from one column to another. The first file or folder does not get selected instead it is the "headline with the folder icon" that gets selected. Irritating and it looks terrible when highlighted.

  • Converting GIF images to JPG - display problems in browser

I am currently writing a program that uses the ImageIO package (javax.imageio.*) to take GIF and PNG images and convert them to JPG images. The program seems to convert them correctly, especially for the PNG images, but the converted GIF images don't open in a browser. They open just fine in Windows Picture and Fax viewer, but when I try to open them in IE or Firefox, it only diplays the little red 'x'.
Is anyone familiar enough with Images and the ImageIO package in Java that they may have some insight on why these converted GIF files won't display in a browser.

    Bonjour,
In my [website|http://iweb.debutersurmac.com>, all the images are JPG files,
By default iWeb '09 converts images to JPG (yes, it's true)...
    ...unless you use masked images*
    !http://i32.servimg.com/u/f32/09/02/44/99/masked10.jpg!
Crop your images (with Preview) before you paste them in iWeb. Don't use mask, Unmask an image if it's masked. That's the trick!
(* images with transparency areas (ex : some PNG and GIF), rotation and shapes in iWeb make also PNG files in your website.)

  • Problem with Windows 7 jpg display

Using Elements 9 in my Vista-based system I created, by cutting and pasting, a jpg text & graphics image to use on a web page (www.yesatlanta.org). This looks fine on my computer. However, I discovered that, on Windows 7 computers, in all gaps created by cutting and pasting the background pale gray is visible. To fill in these voids I tried creating a white background layer and flattening the image - and I tried saving the image as a gif. The same thing happens. What to do?

Thanks for your patience in working on this with me. I followed your instructions as best I could.
I started with a blank page of the proper size, and clicked on the White Background option. I used the Pixlr Grabber tool in Firefox to select the desired area off the web page as displayed on my computer and copied it into the clipboard. Clicking the T symbol (the Horizontal Text tool at the left of the page?) didn't do anything, so I simply pasted  the clipboard image onto the background page. I had to adjust the size to fit. Then I tried to flatten the image, but Elements said I had to create an editing layer (?) first, which I did. Then I flattened the image and uploaded it to the web site landing page (revamp2.php).
Again, on my Vista computer it looks fine, but on my wife's Windows 7 system it still shows the editing residue. I must not be following your instructions properly.

  • Iphoto 6 displays all folders as slideshows. How to get back to edit view?

My Macbook Pro with Iphoto 6 just changed the default view of folders. Now all my named folders/albums in the sidebar display, when clicked, as slideshows. How can I get back to the default way, that shows albums in edit view? I know I can click on th edit icon, but that's not changing the problem. I want to see the photos in edit mode when I click on an album (or is "folder" correct?). Will rebuilding the library do the trick?
    I do appreciate help.

    Look under Window>Arrange.
The Application Bar was removed starting in cs6, but all the same stuff should be under Window>Arrange

  • LR4 Volumes / Hard Drives not displayed in Folders Panel

I recentely upgraded to LR4.1 and it seems to have done something strange with my Folders. As you can see in the earlier version all of my harddrives are displayed as panel items in the folders panel. However now it's only displaying the boot drive and i have to drill down to the volumes folder to get to my hard drives..This is pretty annoying since i work on multiple hard drives.
I have read in earlier versions that people found a workaround by using the "Promote Subfolders" option until all drives were displayed. However this option doesn't seem to be in LR 4. None of my hard drives are compressed, and they are all internal. Can anyone offer any assistance or suggestions..
It may be worth noting that when I went to create a new catalog it didnt show any hard drives begin with.
Original Display of the Folders Panel
Current Display of the Folders Panel - as you can see only one drive is displaying.
I am running Mac Os X Lion 10.7.4, LR 4.1

This has  been resolved and here's what I did...
I right clicked the top-level folder and clicked "hide this parent".
Repeated the step until all folder were gone. Yet th files still remain.
Restarted Lightroom, and Viola!! All Hard Drive Panels are now back
Thanks Dorin for pointing me in the right direction!

  • Finder is not displaying some folders and files

Most folders and files are displaying properly, but some are missing.  I can find them by typing their names into the search window, but they are not displaying automatically in Finder.

    Hello Andy_fan
Please look for MS-SMB_ServerUserGuide.docx file in the folder where you extracted MS-SMB.zip file and refer section 'Configure the SUT' for configuring SUT. Follow other relevant sections of this document to configure client as well.
Domain is not a requirement for running SMB test suite, hence, if you are in workgroup environment just ignore domain values in the
    ParamConfig.xml
    file.

  • Windows Explorer Displays Redirected Folders as a Different Name

    Hi Guys,
Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 has this new feature where it displays folders in which you have ownership of as "Documents" or "Start Menu" for Folder Redirection.
This only renames it when browsing it through Windows Explorer (explorer.exe).  If you browse the folders through a command prompt using DIR, it will display the correct name... %username%.
I think Microsoft did this to make it more user friendly, but HOW DO I TURN IT OFF its annoying!
I wrote this program in visual basic that takes ownership of a folder, Grants Administrators, SYSTEM and %username% full control.  It grabs %username% from the folder name as ususally with redirection the folder in which the data is redirected to =
%username%.  After setting the permissions correctly the program then gives ownership BACK to the user.
Anyway upon running my little application... look what explorer did.  I had Ownership of the folder for a split second before the application gave ownership back.  Because of this when I opened up the folder Explorer populated many of the
folders as "Application Data" when they should be displayed as %username%.
Even though the user now has ownership of the folders now, it still displays them as Application Data!  If I log into the file server as another user account, it displays them correctly.  Explorer is caching this meta data under the users
    profile somewhere.
There is NO information on this on the internet.  Can someone at Microsoft give me some information to turn this functionality of explorer.exe off or tell me where this meta data is stored so I can blow it away without having to re-create the entire
    profile?

    All,
We have numerous customers running W2K8 SP & R2 environments, none of which have reported this issue. Oddly enough though we have recently provisioned a W2K8 R2 remote desktop
host farm for a custom who has a w2k3 R2 environment.
We performed all the pre requisites to host the farm in the W2K3 R2 domain, and added the GPO structure to one of the W2K8 R2 servers as you cannot make remote desktop GPO’s
    with W2K3 R2 GPO’s.
User do not have profile or home directory paths defined in AD
Profile and home folder paths are defined in the GPO
Folder redirection is enabled for Documents and Application Data
    BEHAVIOR:
To start with when users logged onto the RD Farm they had their home folder path correctly set and the folder names in the root of the share was correct.
    \\server\share\username1\ect
Then after 3 months we noticed that users home folder path was no longer being created with the %username% structure and looked like this
    \\server\share\my documents\ect
The profile and application data folder redirection is working
as expected by creating a folder with the username.
The document folder redirection is not working correctly.
    CONFIGURATION:
Set path for Remote Desktop Services Roaming User Profile
    Enabled
    Profile path
    \\SERVER\profileshare\
Specify the path in the form,
    \\Computername\Sharename
Set Remote Desktop Services User Home Directory
    Enabled
    Location:
    On the Network
    Home Dir Root Path:
    \\SERVER\homeshare\
If home path is on the network, specify drive letter for the mapped drive.
    Drive Letter
    U:
    Current GPO Settings:
    AppData(Roaming)hide
Setting: Basic (Redirect everyone's folder to the same location)hide
    Path:
    \\SERVER\SHARE1\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming
    Documentshide
Setting: Basic (Redirect everyone's folder to the same location)hide
    Path: %HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%
    ISSUE:
When enumerating via windows explorer on the Windows 2003 R2 or Windows 2008 R2 servers you see some document folders with
the correct %username% name, but mostly they are all enumerating as My Documents.
If you open a command prompt on the W2K3 R2 server and perform a DIR you will see a list of %username% folders correctly.
    CONCLUTION:
I am going to dig deeper into file/folder level attribute flags set by default when creating folders by windows 2008, as I feel there is a problem with windows 2008 Server creating
data in a windows 2003 R2 server ntfs folder structure. I am aware NTFS has been upgraded and the version used in 2003 is not the same as 2008 and above.

  • JPGs display in Finder

My finder window does strange things with JPGs. Some are shown as actual photographs and others have this Preview file default view.
I used to just open a finder window and choose pictures I needed but more and more photos are now turning "blank" with this default Preview icon. So one needs to open all files in preview or other application and pick from then, which is not a timesaving option.
How can I convert the Preview thumbs to original photograph in Finder?

In my case, images from my Digital camera show the preview icon or a generic tiff/jpg icon. I can set my view preferences to show icon preview as mentioned above (but this is typcally slower to display when opening the folder.) Opening the image in Photoshop then saving the file saves an invisible file that has a thumbnail image (for example filename is photo.jpg and an invisible file is created called .photo.jpg) when saved.

  • External Drives display as folders?

I’ve got a question about external drives display in the folder tree. For some reason, when I add a folder on an external drive, I get a new “Volumes” folder, and then the drive appears as a folder under the “Volumes” folder. So, instead of having a quick view of which drives are connected, I get a bunch of “missing images” question marks on the folders when the drives disconnect.
I don’t get the extra collapsable bar (Under Macintosh HD) as in your video. This happens on several drives every time I’ve tested it!
    Any advice?

  • Lightroom 2.1 lost display of folders

I was exploring synchronizing folders between Lightroom2 and finder Mac 10.5.6. All folders disappeared, and F7 would not reveal the folders. What next?
    JMM

John, After posting my question, I realized that the left panel in Lightroom is not missing-- F7 works to hide/display the Panel, not not including the Folders File. So, looking in the the computer's Finder, I see listings by name of all of the Lightroom photo folders and individual images. At the top of the Lightroom hierarchy is "Lightroom", and nested under Lightroom are Backups, Download backups, and Lightroom settings. Next, BUT at the same hierarchical level as Lightroom is "My Lightroom Photos," with all photos nested under that. (Scott Kelby's new manual recommended that I put all my photos in a folder called My Lightroom Photos rather than "Lightroom". So, folder by folder I moved them from "Lightroom" to "My Lightroom Photos", correcting names, etc as I went. I probably made a mistake somewhere, and I wonder if the new file should have been placed UNDER Lightroom's name and/or if its catalog name is screwed up. Here's why: When opening Lightroom, I briefly see the name, "Lightroom 2.app alias," but when opened, the name at the top of the grid in Library says, Lightroom2 catalog.Ircat - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - Library." The good news is that I found that from Library I can display all photos in a grid, one by one, or by going first to Finder, as a folder. I can also edit and print individual photos. So, I'm only missing my Folder index: you're right that nothing is missing - except the connection to folder naming.

  • Lightroom does not display imported folders in correct location

    Hello,
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    Lightroom 5.7
In Lightroom, I try to import photos and store them in a folder named by date.  All import settings are configured in such a way that Lightroom indicates that my photos will be imported as I want them to be.
Lightroom creates the folder in the correct location on disk.
However Lightroom does not display the newly created folder in the correct location after import, instead it adds the folders to the top level of my catalogue.
I've triedimporting from both from my cameras card and from a local folder, the results are the same for both methods.
Does anyone know why this is happening or do you have any tips on how I can trouble shoot this issue?
Something that may be related to this issue... while in Lightroom, if I right click the top level folder and click "Synchronize folder", Lightroom displays a dialog box indicating that there are new photos and missing photos...
    "Import new photos (7934)
Remove missing photos from catalog (7931).
I have been importing photos in the same way for years.  I have have upgraded Lightroom once, and I have swapped computers once.

This problem most likely occurs when there has been a case change in a path on disk.  In other words (using the screenshot at the top of this post as an example), something like this:
    /Users/hurley/Pictures/photographs
intentionally or unintentionally gets changed to:
    /Users/hurley/Pictures/Photographs
(i.e., "photographs" was initially lowercase, but got changed to an uppercase "Photographs")
As you've discovered, Lightroom does not handle this well.  You can fix the problem by completely changing the path, and then updating Lightroom with the new path.  Try these steps:
    1.  Quit Lightroom.
    2.  In the Finder (i.e., on disk, not in Lightroom), alter the path that your photos are stored at.  In other words (again using the screenshot at the top of this post as an example), create a new folder called "Test" inside the "Pictures" folder, and then put the "Photographs" folder inside the "Test" folder, so that the new path looks like this:
    /Users/hurley/Pictures/Test/Photographs
    4.  Launch Lightroom.  In the Folders panel in Lightroom, you should now see a question mark “?” on the “photographs” folder (and all the folders within it) because Lightroom doesn't know where they are any more.
    5.  Right-click on the “photographs” folder in the Folders panel in Lightroom, and choose “Find Missing Folder…”  Direct Lightroom to the new location of the folder, i.e., /Users/hurley/Pictures/Test/Photographs.  The folder, and the folders within it, should now be found, and the question marks should disappear from them in the Folders panel in Lightroom.
    6.  Now try importing again to see if the newly imported photos go into the right place.

  • Displaying taxonomy folders which contain at least one resource.

    Hi all,
I'd like to display in KM Navigation iView folders from taxonomy structure which contain some classified document. For example I have structure like this:
    My_taxonomy
    -Folder1 - contains classified documents
    -Folder2 - empty
    -Folder3 - contains classified documents
    -Folder4 - empty
So in KM Navigation iView I'd like to see only Folder1 and Folder3.
I am using Layout Set with AdminNavigationlayoutController. Folder structure is being displayed in a tree flavor.
Can anyone help me with this issue?
    Best Regards,
    Michal M.

    Hi Michal,
this is not possible in SAP Standard.
But we developed an own Scheduler Task, Repository Service und Resource List Filter for this.
    <b>Scheduler Task:</b>
Runs every day at 5 a.m. to collect information from taxonomy, which folder is for which user-group empty. The collected information are stored in a database table.
    <b>Repository Service:</b>
The Service updates the database table, when a new document is created. Because of in document structure a permission can be changed, all collected datas are updated in the Scheduler Task.
    <b>Resource List Filter:</b>
The List Filter reads the entries from database to filter the shown collection.
    Regards,
    Gerhard
