JQuery 'Clashes' and browser problems

I am quite new to using APEX with Jquery and have written some code that allows the user to upload an image, view the image in a modal Jquery dialog and use JCrop (Jquery plugin) to crop the image. Once cropped it displays the image in a gallery using prettyGallery (JQuery plugin). The same apex page also uses JAlert and prettyPhoto pluggins! So there are quite a few js files being included in the header.
Everything works in Firefox (this is what I developed with), but when I test with IE there are allsorts of errors and half the javascript either does not work or does not render correctly (including the dialogs which just use the standard Jquery included with APEX). Gutted.
Has anyone come across this before and does anyone have any pointers on what I might have done wrong/where to start looking for the problem?

Webmail and browser Problem

Hi,
Recently, we are encountering problem with our webmail. We are using Iplanet Messaging 4.15 Patch 3. After we have upgraded our browser to Netscape 7, users keep on complaining the following:
1. Could not send attachment.
2. After login, the loading of mails takes a while.
3. After composing a mail and pressing the "send" tab, the
Compose Window still remains there, so they could not
determine if they successfully send the message. They
have to check the sent folder to confirm.
I could not determine if these problems were caused by the browser or do I need to upgrade the Messaging software.

Well, um, I hate to tell you this but. . .
Netscape Messaging Server 4.15p3 is very, very, very old. At the time it was released, the most current version of Netscape Navagator was 4. something.
There is no way that Netscape 7 is likely to work well with that.
Messaging 4.15 was End Of Support Life about two years ago. 5.2 has been available for over 2 years, and 6.1 is also out. 6.2 is due in the next few months.

Flash Player Clashes and Browser Hang

Hi, I have been experiencing the following problem for the past few weeks.
My IE and Firefox hang after finished viewing video via Adobe Flash Player. I was prompted to send a crashed report and reload the page before the browser is responsive again.
I am using the updated browser and did try disabling hardware acceleration but problem unsolved.
Amazingly my Chrome browser is not being affected.
Please help out, thanks.

I have a desktop Mac OS X Leopard. I want to upgrade to Quicken 2007, Install Snow Leopard and download iLife '11. I heard that Quicken and Snow Leopard can clash and have problems. What would be the best order for installing these products. Thank You.

First, install OS X, then install your third-party software.
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
      Destination entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
      Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal
startup drive.
C. Important: Please read before installing:
1. If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the
      update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it.
      Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've
      restarted.
2. You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system
       software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through
       other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
3. The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other
      interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below)
      from Apple Downloads to update. While the installation is in progress do not use
      the computer.
D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
      1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
      6. Follow instructions.
After installing Snow Leopard you should update it by downloading and installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Delays at Airport - Mail and Browser problems

There's something strange going on and I have no idea how to fix this. I currently use 2 iMac's - 1 is an old iSight running 10.4 and the other is a new Intel Core running 10.6.4
When I start up the new machine and connect using Airport to use either a Browser or the Mail Application . . . I always have to close them both immediately and open them again to get them working.
This does not happen if I use the old iMac and both machines are on the same desk and I have run them at the same time to check response.
Has anyone else experienced this at all ? and does anyone have a fix ?
I really do not understand why this is happening, what can cause this kind of 'delay' to hook up and get going.

Please describe your Airport connection. Where are you connecting? What type of internet service? Router? Make? Model?...

I tried dowloading Skype yesterday and my Safari browser crashed. It gives the message "Safari quit while using the librooksbas.dylib plug-in. I trashed Skype but still have the browser problem. I also tried logging in under guest, and no Safari.

Unless your bank's website is insecure, you're fine. Go up to the Safari "Search" bar and type in Rapport. You'll be amazed. It may "work" on PCs, but definitely not Macs. And it's not needed for Macs.

Problem with the browse sequence back and browse sequence next widget placed in the screen layout

Hi,
Some basics: We are using Robohelp 10 to generate multiscreen html5 output. We used the pharmaceutical screen layout downloaded from: http://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/robohelp-screen-profiles-layouts.html but modified it to match our GUI.
We are having a problem with the browse sequence back and browse sequence next buttons placed in the screen layout from the widgets tool bar. We are in no way experts at this part of Robohelp...and the css portion of all this is a bit of mystery but we have managed to get mostly what we need. Now we just need these buttons to work. In the past we used Airhelp and things worked great. Can anyone help us understand why the sequence buttons are not showing up in the output even though it does in the topic preview?

If you are having problems scrolling within a frame then you should be able to use two fingers within the frame to scroll

Mail problems, slow browsing and Facebook problems after upgrading to Mountain Lion

Hi !
I have a 27” iMac from late 2009 which started acting really strange after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Before that everything works fine but now Mail does not work, will not send replies or add attachments and browsing has become so slow that it usually times out. Another strange problem is Facebook messages which does not work at all (cannot read nor send(.
I have Lenovo laptop connected to the same network so I can benchmark and browsing works just fine on that aswell as FB messages.
Anybody got a solution to this other than using the iMac for offline use only ?

I booted both the modem and router but it did not help. Then I tried using the iMac on wireless and now it works so must be something in my D-Link router.

Since upgrading to FF4, my web applications and browser start-up time have been slower, instead of faster as the upgrade promises. Any suggestions?

I feel like my web apps have been slowing down ever since the plug-in container was introduced. With the previous version of FF, I would have to close the browser and re-open it periodically to ensure that apps ran smoothly. Now, even that doesn't work. I've tried these applications in IE and they work with no problem, so I feel that the issue is in FF and not my system. Any tips would be much appreciated.
I've run all the troubleshooting steps listed on the help pages (ensuring that I have the latest versions, etc.), and the problems are still there. Thanks in advance.

You can disable the Plugin Container.
To do this,
* Type about:config in the address bar.
* Click on I'll be careful
* Type dom.ipc.plugins.enabled in the filter column
* Double click on the value to change it to "false"
* Restart Firefox
Plugin Container is disabled and now your apps may work properly.

Design view and browser view in DW are different than when I view from local folder

I'm brand new to Dreamweaver CS5.5 and here is my problem:
I've made an html page in dreamweaver with a banner, with an additional graphic and some text on top of the banner. It displays just fine in every browser when I view from the local folder, but when I open DW and view, it displays incorrectly in all three design, live and browser views within DW. If I make changes to the css file until it views correctly in design view, it no longer displays correctly from the local folder and it still doesn't view correctly in live or browser view within DW. If what I'm doing isnt going to display accurately in any of the views provided by Dreamweaver as compared to the live server, whats the point in having this software? I could just keep building webpages in notepad and uploading with CoreFTP.
Any suggestions? Is it some setting that I dont know about that I need to change within DW? Please help.

With respect to break tags, in XHTML doc types the correct syntax is <br /> not <br>. However your usage of line breaks is inconsistent with good symantic markup. Use headings <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> for important keywords. Use <p> for descriptive paragraphs. Use <ul> <li> or <ol> <li> for lists. Line breaks should be used minimally if ever.
XHTML doc types require all tags to be lowercase. Uppercase tags will throw errors.
Your design is too rigid. When text size is increased in browsers, your content is unreadable. See screenshot.
SOLUTIONS:
1) DO NOT USE POSITION ABSOLUTE. You don't need it. Absolute positioning removes content from the normal document flow resulting in a jumbled mess. Use default CSS positioning (none) with margins, padding & floats to align elements.
2) Remove HEIGHT values from all CSS containers. Height limits a container's capacity to hold more content when needed. Container height should always be determined by the amount of content it holds; not explicit values. If required to reveal a background image, for example, use CSS min-height instead of height.

Remote app and Browsing Albums

So, I installed the Remote app directly onto the iPod Touch and set it up with no problems. Within a minute I was able to download, install, browse, and actually control my iTunes library!
I found one snag. I would like to use the Album browse feature, but I see problems with it. One good specific example is the album "Genius Loves Company" (GREAT ALBUM). when I'm browsing my library through this app, the album shows up 12 times and each instance only has one track in it. So, I can only play one song at a time and then the player stops. Very annoying.
Has anyone else seen this? If so, anyone know a fix/workaround?

Hmm odd one. My first thought here is there's possibly some glitch in the way that Album's files are tagged.
Try this:
Fire up iTunes. Click on 'music' under the Library. Highlight all the tracks in that album in the main window. Go to File -> Get info (answer 'yes' to the pop-up question about editing multiple items). Under the 'info' tab, re-type the name of the album into the 'album' field, and Hit 'OK'. This will resolve any discrepancies re the tagging of the album name.
Fire up remote again and browse to that album, see if it's fixed the issue.

Mail and iPhoto Problems with sending photos.
I have this problem that started a while ago and seems to be getting worse.
Here are the different scenarios.
-If I try to share a photo to email within iPhoto, it will insert the image file name in the mail message, but no image icon or opened image. In iPhoto Preferences under General I have chosen to use Email Photos using Mail.
-If I choose to use iPhoto to send the photo, it will compose the message and the photo is viewable. If I send the message i can view the photo within the email I sent to myself. Nothing happens when I double click on the photo in the Mail message. Nothing happens when i control click on the photo in the mail message. Nothing happens when I try to drag the photo to the desktop from the mail message. When I try to save attachments from the email and choose a place to save it, the save button is grayed out and it cannot be saved. When I check the mail message it says there is an attachemnt but there is no file size listed.
-If I use the stationary within Mail app I cannot drag a photo into the placeholder, I get a circle with a line through it symbol when I try. It happens if I try to drag a photo from the desktop or from the media browser within Mail app.
-If I drag the photo to the desktop from iPhoto, I can double click it on the desktop and it will open in Preview.
-If I then control click on the same photo on the desktop and scroll to share/email, the generic photo icon will be inserted in the mail message. If i double click the photo icon in the mail message I get a message it can't be opened because it is empty.
-If I drag that same image to the mail message body the same thing happens.
-If I send that email to someone they cannot open the image file.
What I can do:
- I can drag that same image file on the desktop to my dropbox folder and it will upload. From there I can go on my iPad and download the photo and send it through email just fine.
-I can open the same image file on my desktop in Preview, I can copy and paste it into a mail message and the image will be viewable in the mail message by me and by the recipient.
-I can drag that same image on the desktop to my safari browser window and it will be viewable in the page. i can then copy and paste that image into a mail message and it is viewable in the message. I can then send that email message to myself and i can control click on the image and get all my options. It also shows as an attachment with the size of the image file in the mail message.
I can send that message to someone and they can see the photo and open it fine.
-If I send that same email to me I can see the photo within the mail. If I then drag that photo to the desktop I cannot use it again to put in an email as the same problem happens again.
I have tried all scenarios in my user account, another users account and in a guest account. The same happens in all. I am guessing because of this it is not a corrupt preference file, unless all of the preference files are corrupt. The guest user account I added a new email account so it was brand new and still had the problem.
I am stumped, all and any help is appreciated.

Another problem that may be related….
I have Snapz Pro. I used to be able to save the snaps to my desktop or a folder. Now when I take a screenshot and try to save the file to my desktop or a folder on my desktop I get this message "Files cannot be created in the selected location. You do not have permission to write to the selected location. Please choose a different location." I have found that i can only save the file to the clipboard. I have repaired permissions many times and still I have this problem.

Can't download game and browse web at same time

I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. For about a month now, I'm unable to download a game from Big Fish Games and browse the web at the same time. I've contacted BFG, but so far their only suggestion was to upgrade from i.e. 6 to i.e. 7, & re-install their game manager, which I did. I don't know if this is a problem with BFG or my internet connection (too slow?).
Occasionally, I seem to be unable to open 2 web pages at the same time, getting a no internet connection error...
I have Belkin router connecting a laptop. The problem is happening on my desktop. I'll be glad to provide any information needed.....please help!
