JQuery widgets, formally known as Spry assets - go away forever please

Is there no way to completely shut this off? I'm so tired of getting that warning when I try and save a site's configuration. 'Warning: The jQuery assets folder is not inside the site. Please select a valid folder in your local site root'. It prevents me from saving so I have to remove the site, edit the .ste file manually, then re-import it. This is quite a pain in the *** when you manage over 200 sites, of which non of them use jQuery widgets or Spry assets.

  • DW 6.1 widget browser? if spry is gone, why don't i have a jquery UI widget browser?

    DW 6.1 (eLearning suite) on Windows7.  My insert menu has a spry widget browser but I cannot add widgets to it. I also cannot see where I can add the jQuery widget browser that I see discussed elsewhere. Please help ... I need a pagination widget (backward, forward) and a couple of others ... that is DW-compatible and works with IE8. Thanks!

    You're absolutely correct, Nancy O. about the version. I have happily found the Spry insert stuff and have implemented it in a tabbed menu and vertical navigation. Thanks, also for clarifying "plug-ins" as opposed to "widgets".
    I was hoping for Adobe-blessed "thingiemabobs" and "doohickies" to show pagination, forward/backward, and so on to minimize integration pain with DreamWeaver's CourseBuilder extension, which is a non-negotiable part of the eLearning Demo I must create.
    What I was hoping to find was the answer to "how do I get jQuery UI onto my insert menu?"  I see demos where it appears just below the Spry entry, but it seems as though it's only for "CC."
    Thanks for your reply. If you have guidance about getting the jQuery UI on the insert, I'd be grateful.

  • Jquery widget equivalent to spry dataset for dreamweaver CC 2014.1?

    I built a website a while back with either CS4 or CS5. I used spry datasets to pull menu items into the tables on the website. I did some research and found that spry widgets were pulled from the CC suites for some reason and replaced with jquery widgets. I'm not 100% sure why adobe did this, but what jquery widget equivalent is there for the spry datasets in dreamweaver cc 2014.1?
    Thanks for your help everyone!

  • Spry assets folder needed! but not using any spry widgets, help totally stressed out?

    l keep trying to set up a new site on CS 5.5 only to keep being told l need a spry assets folder, l have created my own folder named assets folder within my site folder,l have done a seperate folder ,l have looked through all files cannot find any other folders named this. l have downloaded sample files from Adobe & it still hasn't worked. What an earth can l do l'm sure its something silly as you probably guessed l'm a bit of a novice but this is driving me crazy & why do l need a spry assets folder when l'm not using any spry widgits. Any advice or solutions would be great.
    Thank You for your time.

    Whenever I set up a new site, I use a "default" setup I learned from Lynda.com.
    First a folder with the site name.
    Inside that a folder named "www"
    Inside that five folders named:
    "css" <-for stylesheets other than SpryAsset css
    "files" <- for anything that that doesn't go elsewhere
    "images" <-for all site images other than SpryAsset images
    "scripts" <-for javascript files other than SpryAsset scripts
    "SpryAssets" <-Note the capitalization and that it's all one word. DW is VERY picky about this. This folder holds Spry CSS, Spry javascripts and Spry images
    In your root folder create a folder and name it SpryAssets and DW will acknowledge it as your Spry folder.
    Some people prefer to use "styles" instead of "css". This isn't a big deal.
    Some people prefer to use "js" instead of "scripts" but if you embed a flash object, DW will create a "scripts" folder and suddenly you have two folders for javascripts, so I prefer to just have the one named "scripts".

  • Can anyone explain why all of my Spry Assets on a live website have suddenly stopped working?

    Can anyone explain why all of my Spry Assets on a live website have stopped responding? I have checked that the Spry CSS and JS files are in place. Then checked the files on Dreamweavers live view and they are not working there either. It was fine a few weeks ago, it is almost as if the web browsers have stopped rending Spry, for example, the links for the collapsible panels are not even being recognised as links.
    I am using 'old' spry assets on Dreamweaver CS4 (if that makes a difference). The Spry Assets used are Tabbed Panels and Collapsible Panels.
    Thanks for your help.

    Something has been going on, when I look at the bottom of your document (as pasted below), this is normally all at the top after the links to external style sheets.

  • Updating from Spy widgets to Jquery widgets

    I have vertical tabbed panels on my website. Dreamweaver CC 14.1 does not support Spry anymore. Is there a (simple) way to change my Spry widgets to Jquery widgets?

    This is the markup for Spry:
    <div id="TabbedPanels1" class="VTabbedPanels">
        <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
            <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">Tab 1</li>
            <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">Tab 2</li>
            <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">Tab 3</li>
        </ul>
        <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
            <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 1</div>
            <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 2</div>
            <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 3</div>
        </div>
    </div>
    This is the markup for jQuery:
    <div id="Tabs1">
        <ul>
            <li><a href="#tabs-1">Tab 1</a></li>
            <li><a href="#tabs-2">Tab 2</a></li>
            <li><a href="#tabs-3">Tab 3</a></li>
        </ul>
        <div id="tabs-1"><p>Content 1</p></div>
        <div id="tabs-2"><p>Content 2</p></div>
        <div id="tabs-3"><p>Content 3</p>/div>
    </div>
    The constructors is vastly different.
    Spry:
    var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1");
    jQuery:
    $(function() {
        $( "#Tabs1" ).tabs();
    The good part is that you can keep the content.

  • Can't create new site, no Spry Assets folder

    I'd be very grateful if someone could help me with this please: I have tried creating a new site and when I try to define the site, I get an error message telling me the Spry assets folder is not inside the site. I have tried creating a SpryAssets folder inside my root folder and still no luck. I don't use spry widgets. I don't want to start using them. Why can't I create a root folder without them?
    Additionally, when I try editing an existing site I keep getting an error message telling me that the root folder does not exist. It does exist since I can navigate to it; and when I try to redefine it I once again get the above error message regarding Spry assets!
    Please Help!!

    Keep the default value for the SpryAssets folder.
    The folder will not be created until you start using Spry widgets

    I don't know which widgets you're try to view in DW, but the Design View does not execute JavaScript, so you probably won't be able to see most jQuery widgets in CS3. You can see the Spry widgets in CS3 due to Translators which were written for exactly that purpose.
    Starting with DW CS4, you can view them in Live View, which does execute JavaScript.
    Hope this helps,

  • Spry Assets not working?

    I am new to DR
    I got a spry menu bar to work with a drop down... it works
    fine when I view the page.
    I uploaded the site using WSFTP AND the DR built in
    uploader...
    It seems the spry menu bar is missing something... is there a
    trick?
    The links are there but they are ALL on the left hand side
    and don't look ANYTHING like a spry menu... just links with a DOT
    beside them.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

    You'll need to do the same thing here as well, unless you
    just move the spry
    folder to the root.
    <script src="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js"
    If you keep the spry assets folder in "ledman":
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js"

  • When must you FTP the Spry Assets Folder.

    Must the Spry Assets Folder be FTP'ed every time you make a change to the CSS Spry sheets like background color or font color ...etc in Dreamweaver. I think it is a mute question but a set of rules would be a big assist.  Thanks.

    You  actually are asking a very basic question, and the answer is also
    basic.
    Here's the rule of thumb:
    Whenever you change  something in a file, you may FTP it to the server, if
    you want your changes to  be reflected in your page online. You will seldom
    if ever change your .js  file; so you will probably never have to FTP that
    more than once. If you are  making changes to your .css Spry stylesheet,
    you will want to FTP those  changes. And, of course, if you change the
    .html page, you will want to FTP  that.
    It is not necessary to FTP the entire SpryAssets folder,  just the files
    that change.
    It is also not necessary to FTP while  you are still working on the pages
    during a single session. Because you may  preview them locally in a browser,
    you might only FTP the changed files at the  end of your editing session, to
    finally check out the pages  online.

  • PrettyPhoto JQuery Widget coding?

    Hi I have a website I am designing above is the thumbnail, in the middle of the thumbnail I have it linked to PrettyPhoto JQuery Widget with name of image floating on the top of the slideshow, and I am wanting to do this also with the bottom "view details" grey box, but would like some help please with the coding!  Here is the code I have currently:

  • Host does not recognize Spry Assets Folder

    I am using a host named "Dream Host" and after I uploaded the
    website all that showed was a menu bar in outline form. The only
    thing I found that worked was to upload the Spry Assets into the
    same folder with my pages and delete the "Spry Assets" that pointed
    to the folder. An additional problem is the gif arrow images are
    not showing in this option after I deleted the "Spry Assets Folder"
    from the tags. I am not sure why my website is not working with the
    folder. Any help is appreciated.

    Regarding the images not showing up, you'll need to update
    the paths to the images in the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css to remove
    the SpryAssets folder that you removed to make the menus work.
    No idea on why the SpryAssets folder wouldn't work out,
    perhaps it didn't get up loaded to the correct place?
    PS: You have the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file attached
    twice, you should remove one of the instances.

  • Horizontal Menu Bar (using JQuery as opposed to Spry Assets)

    In older versions, used SpryAssets to create a horizontal menu bar, but that is no longer supported.  CC has lots of JQuery inserts, but none for a Horizontal Menu Bar.  What do i do to create one?

  • JQuery widgets - menu and slideshows?

    I'm a teacher and I'm teaching a basic web design class.
    in CS6 it was so easy to add a menu and image slide shows using spry
    In dreamweaver cc I have seen in examples the jQuery has a menu option but mine does not. Any idea how I can find/activate that option?
    Also is there a widget I can get for my students for slideshows? I haven;'t been able to find one that doesn't require writing a lot of code. While some of my students are really grasping code and would be ok I have many that code is still Greek to them.
    I would really like to find a widget for them to use.
    Thanks

    Don't know of any free widgets but plenty of reasonably simple solutions for sliders you can use.
    Check out cycle 2
    Cycle2
    and
    Flexslider

    Both require some hand coding but nothing very complex.

  • DW CS5 Warning message: Spry Assets folder is not in site

    Hi,
    I am trying to define a new site in 'Manage Sites' window. the following warning keeps coming up and doesn't allow me to save the site.
    I have created a folder named 'SpryAssets'.  Even that doesn't help. Any help?. .

    Thanks Randy,
    This is how it went...
    I specified the SpryAssets folder in Spry pane of 'Site Setup' Dialogue box...
    But when I pressed the save button, this window popped up.
    I know there's something I'm missing, probably very basic. Since, I don't intend to use Spry for now, can I just this thing off somewhere? Through some kind of preference or something? I've checked the help docs as well. Couldn't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
    Kind regards
